The spark plug blew out of the head while I has just pulled out accelerating up a small incline. I was going through a major intersection with my son. There was a stutter, then knocking sound, less power, and strange odor.

While driving at a low rate of speed, my Expedition made a loud pop and then strange knocking noise. Upon further inspection I noticed I had blown out a spark plug and my coil pack was blown apart as well. When I called a local Ford dealership (thomas Ford, stillwater ok) the man laughed and said "no it is not a recall, but absolutely should be as this is a very common occurrence in the triton motor. " I ask that you re-look back into this "common" problem as this is a terrible thing to overlook.

The vehicle began to idle real rough to the point of bouncing in an uncontrolled manner. A knocking noise started coming from the engine. When you tried to increase speed two cylinders missed. When the vehicle was manufactured incorrectly, it caused the oil to be distributed unevenly through the engine and the engine to heat unevenly. This starvation of oil over time to the engine allowed for metal to shred and contaminate the engine and the engine has to be replaced in a 5 year old car. If the engine is not replaced the conditions would continue to intensify and the outcome is unknown. After investigation into the problem I learned that Ford had sent out a technical advisory bulletin to help service departments identify the problem so obviously this is not a one time based failure.

Driving from las vegas to phx we were at wickenberg, az a loud pop occurred and knocking sound from the engine. The smell of gas was present and wouldn't run properly. The Ford dealership in wickenberg was luckily open and instructed us that the spark plugs had blown out in the 1st and 2nd cylinders. They did also tell us that this occurs often in and there is a temp fix for it. They tapped out the head and inserted a steel sleeve for those 2 cylinders. Taking 2 hours it was fixed and we were on our way very happy to have it fixed but not happy at all at Ford for having such a blatant design flaw. This needs to be fixed.
Was driving car to work this morning. Made a right hand turn and heard a knocking noise suddenly after completing turn. Pulled to side of road and immediately shut down vehicle. After shutting down I smelled what appeared to be gasoline. Called my insurance company and they had vehicle towed to Ford dealership. After waiting a few hours they told me spark plug had popped out and cylinder head needed to be fixed along with plug, and it was indeed gasoline I smelled. They said it would need major repair to fix, and tried to convince me to pay and arm and a leg. I don't care about that, I care that my child could have been in car, as I pick her up every day from school. Also mad that a fire could have started and Ford does nothing about this problem and that there have been thousands of complaints from Ford truck owners with Expeditions and f150's from 97-02. Something better be done to recall these faulty engine components, or families will suffer from Ford's lack of safety with these plugs and cylinder heads/coils.
I was driving down the highway in alaska going about 70 when there was a loud banging sound and it felt like I lost compression. I immediately pulled off at the next exit and checked under the hood at first I thought it was a blown head gasket but upon having it towed to the nearest shop it was determined that the spark plug ejected and caused the cylinder head to melt and also had major junks of metal in the engine itself.

While I was driving on the expressway at expressway speeds all of a sudden there was a pop sound and the vehicle lost power and started vibrating badly. When got vehicle to mechanic by tow truck because vehicle had no power, it was revealed to me that the spark plug was blown out the head of the motor. It was the 3rd plug on the passenger side. My vehicle has a complete extended warranty but the warranty company claims that this is due to a loose spark plug. They are the original factory plugs supposedly you don't have to touch them for 100,000 miles. My mechanic states that this happened due to a defect in the head because he not only spoke to Ford mechanics but has seen this before. This is a common problem, upon researching this myself I found many other people on the internet with this same problem,at the same exact site on the motor. This is a problem with the head of the motor and my warranty company should fix my truck because this is a covered item it is the engine block that malfunctioned , not the spark plug!!!! please help because this is a very costly repair.
While driving consumer heard a loud knocking noise coming from the front. The consumer was able to pull over and inspected the vehicle. The consumer noticed that the spark plug from the passenger side blew out. The consumer contacted the dealer, and was informed that the cylinder head needed to be replaced due to a blow out. The consumer found that many others experienced this same problem with the 5. 4 and the 4. 6 Ford engines. The problem was found to be a defect in the heads not having enough threads to hold the plugs in. Ford would not assist in the repair, even though they recently redesigned the heads to prevent the problem.

When I take off the gas is sticky and takes alot to get it going, when turning from stop my rear end vibrates like it's going to fall off. Aready had the transmission replaced by the dealer ship I got the car from. Driver side window clunks when rolling down, motor makes a knocking noise when cold. I just don't expect this kind of problems when you pay alot of money for a nice car.
Engine hesitates. Dealer was not able to locate problem or provide remedy. Also, vehicle had an oil leak, and knocking noise. Dealer replaced head gasket, but problem is reoccurring.
