3 Engine Noise problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

Driving down the road at about 30mph and suddenly my engine sounded like it threw a rod. My husband looked at it and found a spark plug blew out of the motor. This seems to be an ongoing issue that Ford refuses to acknowledge. Something needs to be done.

4 Engine Noise problem of the 2004 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

I was pulling off from a stop sign and before I got across the intersection my car make a pop and then the engine sounded like it blew. I pulled over and a spark plug popped out of the head causing a small fire that melted hoses. Estimated damage is a minimum of 1500 for just this plug but I was told the others would follow suit. Reading on the internet this seems to be a serious issue with the Ford 5. 4 triton motors. If I was not able to stay calm and steer my vehicle correctly this could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle lost power as if it had stalled, and as I stated before there was a small fire when I lifted the hood to see what had happened.

6 Engine Noise problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 11/02/2010

Went out to warm up our Ford Expedition for work. Upon starting it heard a loud boom and the engine sounded loud. Had it towed to garage. Found out that the #7 spark plug blew out. For safety sake, Ford should admit to the defect in the engine, and issue a recall.

7 Engine Noise problem of the 1999 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/21/2008

My wife was driving to colorado springs on hwy 24. She pulled away from a stoplight when she heard a loud slapping noise. She was able to get to the side of the road safely, despite heavy traffic. We had the Ford Expedition towed to the dealer we bought it from. They have called me to tell me the number 7 spark plug blew out of he block ruining the threads that hold it, in addition the coil pack was ruined. I have a warranty on this vehicle (it was bought used), the service manager is telling me they will not cover this under the warranty because it is a "maintenance issue". I informed him that I will not pay for this repair and he said he would call Ford to see what they are doing, lol. If my wife had been traveling at hwy speeds she could have crashed and the possibility of a fire was real because of the fact fuel was coming out of the spark plug hole and the coil pack was still firing. Something must be done.

8 Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 02/07/2008

2005 Expedition has severe engine ticking problem (sounds like a diesel) original complaint was before warranty expired told by dealer that it was the "3 valve motor noise". When it got worse at around 37k miles (1k) out of warranty dealer then tells me that there has been a TSB issued (TSB 06-4-7 original version was actually issued shortly after the truck was built) it is the cam phasers and valve lash adjusters and it will be $3000 to repair and now not covered under warranty. I have repeatedly worked with the dealer and Ford customer care to resolve issue the last person at customer care told me "its your problem" just before hanging up on me. This after a similar pulling teeth episode to get them to fix the known corrosion problem that they had and denied before I found a TSB about that too, I now have another large rust spot on my back door that the will not fix either. All of this after I paid $4000 to get rid of the Lincoln LS that I owned that they could not keep running after dumping thousands of dollars into a cop problem that was eventually covered under a customer care program. I sure did not get any money back on that. Someone has to wake someone over at Ford up and get them to fix this garbage they have been turning out. .

Failure Date: 08/28/2005

I was dropping my grandmother off at church. I pulled into a parking space. When I went to start the truck, the engine started making noises and I saw and smelled smoke. I opened the hood and I saw the engine shaking went the truck was on. Today, Ford is recalling 2000 Expeditions along with other models due to cruise control problems causing fires under the hood. The truck is a 2001 Expedition which has 75,000 miles on it. Ford is saying it is not their problem and they are not taking responsibility for this issue.

Engine noise upon cold start. Sounds like marbles churning about inside a coffee can.

16 Engine Noise problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 10/05/1997

The engine makes a pinging noise after vehicle has time to warm up(about 1/2 hr). I've been to three (3) different dealers. The first one said to just put in higher octane gas (it should run on 87 octane according to the owners manual) and that was all they did. They didn't even write it up. The second dealer did the same. The third dealer kept the truck over night and wrote they reprogrammed the computer however this did not solve the problem. I called Ford and they told me they would get in touch with the third dealer and I would be hearing from them soon. It's been over two weeks now and I've had enough. I don't know if I'm polluting the air with this truck or not. It is not suppose to make pinging sounds even though at the third dealership, one of their mechanics told me that all Fords ping. I don't know if this is considered a safety problem or not but I want you to be aware of this because I have spoken to other Expedition owners and quite a few of them are having the same problem. Thanks, al krause.
