On the 14th of January 2020, while driving on the freeway, my truck began to sway as if my alignment was off. The first time we were traveling down a highway and the second time she was parking in the garage. She was unable to park the car staight in the garage. We took the car to herman Ford in luverne, mn to be repaired. We were told the problem in the steering gear. Through my research Ford has recalled other Explorers with the same problem. Ford is telling me that my car does not fall under the recall. This problem creates a dangerous situation when it occurs.

I experienced a total loss of power steering. It began as a little play in the steering wheel near the end of an 8 hour drive. The service power steering now light came on at that point. After parking the vehicle and restarting the vehicle there was no power steering at all.

This error message appeared on the dash: power steering assist failure. Turned off engine, left it off 5 seconds, restarted, and power assist steering failure code did not come one. I drove the 2 miles home, praying the power steering would not go out and freeze up again while being drive. 3 hours later the car is operating normally so far, but a complete power steering failure is life threatening and could reoccur in this vehicle at any time, resulting in injury, death, and damage to the car. Ford has acknowledged this problem in 2011 Ford Explorers and issued a recall. As my 2013 Explorer has the same epas problem, Ford needs to issue a recall and repair the problem at no cost to the owners. I have read online of owners having the power steering fail during turns, resulting in injuries. This car is not safe to drive in its current condition.

I was driving on a toll road, started to notice my steering wheel becoming tight, my service power steering assist light came on. Takata recall my name is howard divers, I own a 2013 Ford Explorer. The power steering assist light showed up on the message board resulting in loss of power steering. I researched recalls and found there was a problem with this in 2011- 2013. I took it to dealer and they wouldn't fix it free of charge under recall. My complaint is if Ford knew there was a problem with this then why weren't they all fixed. I brought mine used and was unaware of a recall. There was and still is a problem with these vehicles apparently. Eventually someone is going to be seriously hurt when this happens.

Same problem that hundreds of other Ford owners have complained about, the power steering stops working, steering wheel locks up, the warning power steering fault light comes on. Had checked at clasic Ford in smithfield, nc said there were 99 faulk codes listing that there was a loss of motor position sensor signal, which ment that the steering rack assembly had to be replaced. The very same problem that the 14s06 Ford recall is for, but this vehicle was built after the approved dates ,built at the same plant chicago, Ford does not care enough about their customer safety they just want your dollars. Dealship says it will cost $2500. 00 to fix. Vehicle only has 59,000 miles.
