4 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2018

Steering column is supposedly damaged by "environmental factors" according to dealer service. I am not sure how the environment gets in there but they won't cover it even with the Ford premium care warranty package. The vehicle is only 5 years old 59,000 miles. Can't turn steering wheel easily, it skips sometimes. They say there is rust and corrosion in there and almost $1000 to replace after paying over $2600 for this super package warranty. It cost me $135 for them to tell me they wouldn't cover any of it!! I can't believe Ford is not doing anything about this issue that is pretty common after doing some research. People not to be able to turn their steering wheel could turn into a major issue. If I get into an accident for not being able to turn when they wouldn't cover anything better be sure I will be getting a lawyer.

5 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2017

On Dec 27, 2017, I started my car & received the power steering assist fault message on my dashboard & was unable to move my car. I was parked in my work parking lot. I had my car towed to lithia Ford in grand forks, nd & was told by my Ford service department the power steering control module was faulty and needed to be replaced. They stated it is part of the steering column and the steering column would not work without replacing the pscm. My Ford protect warranty did not cover the issue and my 2013 Ford Explorer falls outside of the manufacturing dates of the recall 14s06 (14v286000 steering: electric power assist system), as told to me by Ford motor company. I have tried, along with the service manager at lithia Ford, to get Ford motor company to get my car included in this recall as it experienced the same issue. As of Jan 4, 2018, Ford motor company stated they can't help me since I already got by car fixed.
