37 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2024

Catastrophic brake failure. Drove truck normally the night before, but when I got in the next morning to go somewhere the brake pedal went to the floor. I depressed he brake pedal 2-3 more times to ensure I wasn't misinterpreting anything and it went to the floor, unimpeded, every time. I then noticed a very large puddle of brake fluid on the pavement under the passenger front tire. Pressing on the brake pedal was apparently squirting brake fluid all over the place from somewhere in that area. Had to have to car towed to a mechanic to fix. I was planning to tow a heavy camper in a few days and this would have caused a serious life-threatening issue had it happened on the road. Ford has had a lot of brake system failures on numerous vehicles. The mechanic said the right front bake line simply ruptured on its own. No evidence of it having rubbed against anything to cause a weak spot in the hose.

38 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2024

We got the truck out of heated storage after 6 months, and lights on dash came up stating a"service brakes" and "abs" plus warning bells. Took to Ford dealer immediately and they test and said we needed a hydralic control unit as our brakes would not work. In looking this up, other f150's have been recalled, but not our VIN. So we had to pay $3,000 for part and it to be programed. Fortunately it is an extra vehicle for us and we were not caught out on the interstate. I find it interesting that 3 recalls were done for this same braking issue on the f150, but for some reason did not include ours?????.

39 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2024

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving 55 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard with the "brake fluid level low" message displayed on the instrument panel. Despite the failure, the contact's girlfriend managed to coast the vehicle back home. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact added brake fluid; however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact believed that the brake fluid was leaking into the brake master cylinder, which had caused the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

40 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

The low break fluid light suddenly come up, next thing you know, I didn’t have any brake function what so ever. Luckily I was driving off a parking lot. I have to call the tow truck to take my truck to the dealership. The dealer diagnosed, (failed brake master cylinder leaking into brake booster. Inspected brake system and found no external leaks all lines and calipers are dry. Removed master cylinder and found brake booster is full of fluid. Installed new brake master cylinder and brake booster. Bleed brakes) it was a recall for 2014 f150’s for this same issue but dealership said my vehicle was built months after the recalled trucks. I believe if this happened in the highway driving 70 miles an hour could end up in fatalities really easy. I am pretty sure many other 2014 f150 trucks got the same issue.

41 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2024

I remote started my truck and let it run to warm up. I got in and pushed the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I turned the ignition on and the information center said, "brake fluid low". I turned the truck off, got out and looked under the truck for signs of brake fluid (there was none), opened the hood and my reservoir was empty. I took the master cylinder off and the brake booster was full of brake fluid. I had to replace both, the master cylinder and brake booster.

42 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2024

I was driving about to make a right hand trun on the st where my home is located. Out of nowhere with no warning or any message displayed on my dashboard. The both front tires locked up and automatically reduced my speed. I am thankful for this happening when I was turning on my street to my house. If it would had been a few minutes before when I was traveling at 60 mph and this would accard. The truck would have flipped I was told by a machine that did a house call. He took a look at the brakes and the pads are new the car has brake fluid and the front brakes are still locked. He had never come across this situation told me to see if there are any recalls when I looked up this same problem there are many 2014 Ford f150 with the same problem. I only can say I glad it happened turning on the street where I live because my [xxx] and [xxx] were in the back seat this could had been a very dangerous car ride. Safety recall 16s24 why is my 2014 F-150 not covered under Ford's safety recall (16s24) of a defective brake master cylinder? 16s24 covers defective master cylinders for the 3. 5l v-6 ecoboost engine, but not the 3. 7l v-6 engine. Upon further research, it appears that both the aforementioned engines use the same master cylinder. See motorcraft part no. Brmc203 (brake master cylinder). According to Ford, the master cylinders' rear seal fails, thus leaking brake fluid into the attached brake power booster which causes pedal fatigue and possible loss of front brakes. My F-150 has a 3. 7l v-6 engine, which is not covered under the recall. However, my F-150 is exhibiting the same master cylinder failure as is referenced in 16s24. My master cylinder has leaked into the power booster and the vacuum line attached the power booster has siphoned all brake fluid into the engine (approximately 60 ounces). The engine then expelled said brake fluid into the exhaust system causing white smoke to emit from the tail pipe. Please contact me at (619) 678-3203 marcus carey.

63 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2023

I was going to get some lunch and I noticed a low brake fluid message was on. So I popped the hood to check fluid level and sure enough it was. I went to auto zone purchased some fluid and filled the reservoir and all seemed fine, but before I could get back to the office the message low brake fluid appeared again. Again I filled the reservoir with fluid at the end of my shift, the message went away and I headed home. As preceded home the message appeared again and I had to purchase more fluid and repeatedly filled the reservoir to make it home . After I got home I looked around the vehicle for leaks and there was none. I explained what happened to my mechanic and he told me my master cylinder was bad and that all the extra fluid I had put into the reservoir had leaked into my booster. About the same time I got a letter stating that a class action lawsuit was being filed in regard to brake failure and here I am.

64 Service Brakes problem

Brake booster leaking. Eco booster leaking oil on manifold.

65 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2022

They have a faulty master cylinder on the brakes causing brake issues. I was driving down state road 80 after hurricane ian and a car slammed on its brakes in front of me because a vehicle lost a load off of their tailgate. I slammed on my brakes but I didn't break very well. It was very squishy into the floor and I relied on distance. The brakes gave a little assistance.

66 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2022

I only used my VIN to get this far. The issue that I have concerns a very important safety feature that I have yet to see on any vehicle. With more and more vehicles being produced with automatic braking systems, I am wondering why the automakers don't have a specific light option on the rear of the vehicle that illuminates when the abs is activated. There are still millions of vehicles on the road that don't have abs. This feature would inform following drivers the difference between slowing down and quickly stopping. It could be placed in the middle of the rear brake light that is in the upper middle of the rear window. So, you are probably wondering why I am bringing this to your attention. That is because I have wasted 30k of my own money on 2 different marketing firms trying to get my patent noticed, with no luck. The patent number is 9,643,535 b1. Check it out. I dare you.

67 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2022

Hello - my 2014 f150 experiencing this issue, but Ford says my VIN is not on the recall list. Truck pulled brake fluid into the engine from faulty brake booster / master, lost all brakes, lots of smoke, brake fluid reservoir empty. Brake master cylinder may leak into booster NHTSA campaign number: 20v332 a loss of brake fluid may result in a change in brake pedal travel and feel, increased pedal effort and reduced front brake function, possibly requiring greater effort and distance to stop the vehicle. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.

68 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2022

Vehicle was repaired under recall Ford safety recall 16s24, due to failing brake master cylinder which was leading to total brake failure. The subject vehicle (VIN 1ftfw1ct6efb00788) was taken into a Ford service center to perform the recall repairs in Mar 2017. Ford replaced the mater cylinder at the time under the recall. Recently (10/13/2022) the vehicle experienced complete brake failure while driving with all the same symptoms described in the original Ford safety recall 16s24. Audible chime with full screen screen message on the dash cluster warning of brake issues. The vehicle coasted to a stop after taking appropriate actions (downshift and e-brake) to come to a stop without crashing or injuries. The vehicle was towed to a Ford service center for diagnoses. Ford diagnoses was rear seal failure of the master cylinder which allowed all the brake fluid from the reservoir to leak into the brake booster, leading to brake failure. This is the exact scenario described in Ford safety recall 16s24. Neither the Ford service center or Ford corporate customer service (Ford case # cas 39130043) will acknowledge repairs as they indicated that the recall is no longer applicable to my vehicle. I don't know if Ford used the same suspect master cylinder p/n to execute the repair, however it seems the issue described in the original recall is still an issue even after recall repairs are performed. At this point, Ford is charging me for the repairs to fix the issue, however the greater concern is that people driving the vehicle in the recall after getting this recall completed might be at risk of crash and injury. Also learning online that I am not unique with the issue described above. Please let me know if there is any additional information such as the latest Ford diagnoses report or documentation is needed to help further escalate this complaint.

69 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message brake fluid low was displayed, and the brake pedal extended to the floor while attempting to stop the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was discovered that there was no brake fluid inside the brake fluid reservoir but there was no evidence of a brake fluid leak found. Brake fluid was added but the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 20v332000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 162,000.

70 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

Ford defrauded the u. S. Government by knowingly installing defectively-engineered parts in my truck as part of a recall and then claiming the issue was repaired. Ford obviously had so many catastrophic brake system failures it necessitated a federal recall. However, Ford admitted they never redesigned the faulty parts to mitigate the problem from happening again. This it tantamount to providing a liver transplant patient with a liver from a chronic alcoholic. Ford absolutely knew the affected parts were defectively-designed and/or defectively manufactured, yet chose to put those exact same parts back in the truck and then lie to the federal government that said parts fixed the problem. All Ford achieved was kicking the can down the road. Not surprisingly, my brake system catastrophically failed again after Ford "fixed it" during the recall. I guarantee there are other owners out there who have experienced the same problem. Ford must be investigated for fraud and held accountable. When I contacted Ford about the problem, their customer service supervisor said they refuse to cover the cost of the repair because it had been more than a year since parts they knew were defective were installed. Even Ford's executive team refuses to acknowledge the immorality in this situation, and has also expressly refused to reimburse me. They said it doesn't matter if I plowed into a bunch of kids, they are not in any way responsible for putting known defective parts back in my truck. Surely this is not acceptable to NHTSA, as your agency exists precisely to prevent this sort of corrupt behavior by automakers. Ford lied to your office. Will that behavior be excused, or will it be investigated and prosecuted? if someone slams into a girl scout parade and kills a bunch of children because their supposedly "fixed" brakes failed, will your office be satisfied it did everything it could to prevent that, knowing Ford defrauded you?.
