Started truck then we heard a loud pop, similar to a gun shot. Then we heard crackling through the speakers. Audio volume controls were ineffective as well as radio on/off controls. Turned truck off and restarted no pop this time but the crackling continued. I called my local Ford dealer to schedule a service appointment for the next afternoon. Then next day when I was driving the truck to work the crackling continued for several minutes then the sound system went back to normal. That afternoon, 12/4 after work I drove the truck to the dealer I had purchased the truck from to drop it off. I reported the situation to the service advisor and he said since the sound system does not throw codes it would not be able to be diagnosed unless the problem duplicated itself which I would have to leave the truck for an extend period of time.

I have a 2022 Ford F-150 platinum with b&o sound system. Yesterday, while driving I experienced a loud boom followed by loud staticky crackling sounds coming from the sound system. I thought I had been hit by another vehicle or somebody had thrown something at the car. I stopped immediately to see if glass was broken and got out of vehicle for fear it was going to burn or blow up. The crackling sound continued even after turning off the sound system and turning off the vehicle. The crackling continued for approximately 30 minutes. This morning, I started the car and the crackling sound was not present. This is a safety issue because it caused me to be alarmed and behave in abrupt manner to get out of the car, and may have even caused hearing damage.
I started my 2022 f150 with b/o audio and an extremely loud blast that sounded like a cannon shot out of the speakers. My volume dial didn't work and loud crackling and popping sounds were coming out of the tweeter speakers. This has been reported many times already. Turning the audio and the entire vehicle off did nothing. Crackling actually would continue when vehicle was turned all the way off for at least 2 minutes, which would indicate some power was still being fed to the speakers for some reason. No warning lamps/messages appeared.
It happened several times already. My f150 tremor randomly has extremely loud electrical sound pop through the speakers followed by the loud static, no matter I listen to radio or connect to android studio. It's super dangerous to hear this while driving.

This complaint was already documented here: NHTSA id number: 11487857 turned my truck on to hear a loud pop, scared everyone inside. Speakers continued to crackle and pop, at a lower volume. No audio or music played. Thinking it would go away, I continued out of our neighborhood. When it didn't, I stopped and turned the truck off, as well as locking the vehicle, with the same crackling noise coming from the speakers despite everything being shut off. Turned the truck back on and went through audio settings. The only thing that made it stop was switching from "stereo" to "surround" mode in the settings.
This morning, as soon as I started the vehicle and started backing down the driveway, an unbelievably loud popping sound emitted from the speakers. I immediately slammed on the brakes having no idea what had just happened. This has happened previously but have not heard in a few months so I thought the problem was corrected. It is the loudest noise I have ever experienced and is extremely dangerous as it happens at different times and is just ear splitting. My ears are still ringing and it happened at 8:45am this morning.
-the surround sound speaker system has produced a load popping sound as if being struck by lightning on several occasions upon starting the truck. It is extremely loud and normally goes away after a few seconds. The most recent incident occurred while I was driving and did not stop for several minutes. It is as if the radio is turned to it's highest volume and produces an electrical static sound. I had to return to my home and shut the truck off to stop the sound. I restarted the truck twice and the sound started again each time. -this is a tremendous saftey issue as the shock of the sound is very frightening and could cause someone to lose control of the truck. In addition, the sound is so loud that I was unable to hear any outside sounds or sirens. It could cause hearing damage as well. -it is a very sporadic issue and until my most recent incident, only occurred upon starting the truck. It's very difficult to replicate with the dealer, but I understand this is happening with many owners of Ford f150's. -the vehicle has not been inspected for this specific issue. Normal maintenance has been followed and there has been nothing to indicate this is an issue. -no warning lights, but there may be a connection with the software updates. This is pure speculation, but it seems to occur when Ford pushes a software update to the vehicle.
There has been times when for no reason at all I will start up the vehicle and a loud static pop sound comes out of the speakers. Then after that the sound will go on and off throughout the speakers, I have no way of turning it off, I even try to turn off the vehicle and let it sit of a minute and get back in and start it, it did not go away. I had to drive it with the static noise going on. But after I get to my destination, and park the vehicle. Let it sit for a couple of hours, then I get back in the car and the sound is gone. I have try to complain to Ford, and they keep on telling there's nothing they can do.
Truck speakers randomly emit excessively loud pops and static. Took in truck for service and they “couldn’t replicate. ” this was at a Ford dealer in mew york. Gave truck back. It has done it everyday since and it’s so loud it’s almost like I’m in a concert. It lasts 5-10 seconds. It causes disaffections when driving as well. First time it happened I thought something broke a window. I saw many complaints posted about this through NHTSA and found online via thedrive. Com that Ford issued a bulletin for this fix but my service department at the local dealership didn’t bother to fix it. This has been an ongoing issue since I purchased the truck in late 2022. This was my first attempt to have it fixed.
When turning on the radio, there was a very loud pop like a gunshot or firework going off in the cab followed by sustained white noise coming from the speaker system at full volume. The volume and radio buttons did not impact the volume of the sound requiring the driver to pull over, shut the vehicle off, and open the door in order to make the sound stop. The volume of the sound was loud enough that the driver was forced to release the steering wheel to plug their ears. Upon restart the vehicle produced the sound again.
Upon pressing the start button the sound system put out an ear piercing pop and loud statis continued for 5 -10 minutes. Audio on/off and volume buttons were rendered ineffective, no response. Disconnected the negative on the battery with not effect. Static continued from all speakers. After 10 minutes tried to start the truckand system seemed to return to normal. Reported it to Ford dealer said they haven't any idea what it is.
My vehicle sound system sometimes makes ear splitting squelching noises. It has caused my ears to ring. It has done it twice in the last week.
While driving, with the audio system off, suddenly I heard a loud explosion. Next I heard what sounded like class breaking. I thought I was involved in an accident and slammed on my brakes. Realizing I was ok, the next thought that came to mind was that someone shot at me. The crackling sounds ( like glass breaking did not stop). I drive directly to a Ford dealership. They heard and acknowledged the cracking sound. I turned off the truck and the sound continued.
While driving with sound volume at normal setting (volume 8), speakers started to pop and static erratically, which startled me, almost causing an accident. The issue will randomly go away, no warning lights on screen or dashboard. The static and pop sounds still continued at volume setting one. The erratic static and pop goes away then it happens again 20 min later. My ears are ringing from the popping sounds.

Upon starting the vehicle there was an extremely loud electrical static/popping sound coming from all speakers. Sound was extremely loud, in the hearing damage range - estimate over 100db. After a few seconds the sound stopped. I have seen reports online that this is happening to multiple customers driving late model Ford f150 with the b&o speaker system. If this had happened while driving it would be extremely startling and could lead to accidents. The sound is so loud it could cause hearing damage.
On March 24, 2023, I got inside my 2021 Ford F-150 power boost king ranch truck, turned it on. Heard a loud popping sound. Began to drive away. Then all of a sudden there was a loud static sound. The sound was so loud like someone turned the volume to max limit and I began trying to turn it off. The radio was not responsive. I started to panic because I had all these vehicles around me and could not think correctly. It was affecting my decision making and all I could think of is turning off my phone, pressing the power on + next track button to hard reset radio , etc. Nothing worked. Loud static sound would stop. Radio wouldnt turn off. Next thing you know im on the expressway trying to get off because obviously nothing worked. After around 20 minutes, I finally pulled over. Turned off my truck. Then turned it back on thinking it would have stopped. Nope, sound was still on. Had to get to my destination and when I did. I lost some of my hearing. It was that bad!!.
On multiple occassions the speaker system has had a deafening blast of static noise that actually made my ears hurt. Luckily my daughter wasn't in the car on either occassion but the sound was so loud that I actually had ringing in my ears after I figured out how to make it stop. I told Ford about it but they said there's no fix and they don't know when one will be coming out. I have dash cam video of both incidents that I uploaded to youtube: first incident https://youtu. Be/rtbawsldca0 2nd incident - short pops of static at :25 and 1:15 in the video https://youtu. Be/rwsp5e-xxcm.
Today I start my 2022 f150 hybrid and I got a loud beep like something didn't work, and then the speaker started screaming at more than 100decibel. It was so loud I couldn't stay inside for more than 10s. I still feel sick after 30 min. I tried to stop / restart the car, the noise continues. I had to wait 30 min and when I re-started the noise stopped. I am very concerned about this problem regarding my young kid. If she was in the car at that time, she could have permanent erring loss. I went to my dealership and once again they said they need to see the problem do to anything. This unacceptable from Ford. Since that, I have ear protection near by. . . 2022 Ford f150, powerboost, platinum, 9100 miles, bang and olufson 18 speaker stereo system. Got in the truck today and turned the truck on and instantly heard very loud, "electric crackling" noise. It took a few seconds to realize the noise was coming out of the speakers. I was not able to turn the noise off, with radio power button or by turning the truck off. I was perplexed, so I started a to record a video, (which I have). After another short period of time, 60 seconds? I realized the noise was only coming from the a pillar tweeters and rear door speakers. I switched from surround to stereo and the noise finally turned off. My wife was afraid to ride home with me but we did with no issue after that (approximately 7 miles. I am reading on other Ford f150 website, this is a pretty common issue, that Ford has not been able to track down as of yet. Very scary. I have not been able to replicate, but I havent driven the truck again yet, to try and replicate. There were\are no warning lights or errors on the truck and I have all the latest updated software to my apim and sync.
Upon starting the truck an extremely loud deafening pop was heard through the speakers and then a very loud crackling/static noise. The stereo did not work after that. This has happened twice now on March 3, 2023 & March 8, 2023 and is so loud it makes your ears ring. I called the dealership & service rep stated they have not heard of this before. They could not get my truck in for at least a week or more due to back log of vehicles needing service in electrical service department. There was no warning lights sounds, this happens with no warning upon starting the truck.
All of the sudden and without any warning, an extremely loud bang followed by extremely loud buzzing and white noise sound comes from the stereo system. The bang sounded like a gun shot in my ear and the buzzing/white sound noise is louder than anything I've ever heard. It nearly caused me to run off the road when it first started and it took my breath away and caused my heart to beat rapidly. I had to immediately pull over and get out of the vehicle as the sound was unbearable. There was no way to turn it down or off. It eventually stopped a few minutes after the vehicle was turned off. I tried to restart it a number of times and the sound immediately started again. After the vehicle sat for a few hours, the vehicle started without issue. My ears rang for 4-5 days after this incident. Safety was put at risk by way of ear damage and nearly crashing the vehicle when it first happened. I also had to pull off on the side of the road to exit the vehicle. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer yet but will do so. It has not been inspected by anyone. There are no warning lights, error messages, etc. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it stopped on its own after about 10 seconds.
Twice now on my truck there has been a loud noise that comes from the vehicle from the speakers. On December 19th I got into the vehicle and there was very very loud noise that came from the speakers then lost all audio. On February 9th there was a very very loud horn like noise that came from the vehicle then a static noise then lost audio. Both these times the next day all was fine.
While entering the highway, speakers produced a deafening static noise, no way to control or stop the noise. It was certainly well above the level for hearing damage concerns, but also made it nearly impossible to drive safely. System was completely unresponsive to any attempt to turn off/reset/etc. There were no indicators/etc, and it finally stopped itself randomly. The only way I can try to describe how extreme this problem is, is to say imagine someone firing a gun next to your ear while you attempt to drive. Had it happened only a few minutes later while merging into traffic, it very possibly could have caused an accident.
I was driving and all the sudden an insanely loud sharp beep noise started and would not stop. It was coming from the speakers. I could not get it to stop. It was so loud I have lost hearing in my left ear. I had to exit the truck and disconnect the battery. Others are having this issue and Ford has no recall.
The speakers in the car all "pop" and a high static/whine pitch plays out of all speakers. It does not stop unless you turn off the car and open a door to completely turn off the car. I have videos to document the noise.
Speaker issue: when starting the truck, after about 3 seconds of sitting in the truck, the speakers made a really loud pop noise and then continued to make a loud static noise and cracking noise for the duration of my 15 minute drive home. If this happened on the freeway, it may traumatize someone or cause an accident. The problem has happened twice but it is not been replicable for a dealer or service center. The truck has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. I read online that this is happening to a lot of 2021+ F-150s with the b & o unleashed 18 speaker sound package. Please recall this, it is the most dangerous speaker issue I have ever heard.
Description: upon starting the vehicle there was an extremely loud "popping" sound through the speakers followed by a constant static/popping noise coming through the speakers at max volume. The sound is not responsive to any adjustments to the stereo volume and is persistent even with the volume set to "0" or "off". The only remedy was to turn the vehicle off, close the door and lock the vehicle. Even then, the issue continued upon startup until I disconnected to battery to reset the the system. This has happened 3 times in the past 4 months. Dozens of other Ford F-150 raptor owners have reported the same issue but in every case, the dealer is unable/unwilling to find the issue. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? stereo/speakers. Yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the noise is extremely loud to the point where hearing damage could be caused within a very short period of time, especially for young children which I have. The sounds is also extremely startling and if this happened while driving, could prevent the driver from being able to safely operate the vehicle. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the problem was not reproduced at the dealer while they had the vehicle, but they are aware and were unable/unwilling to resolve the issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? the vehicle has been inspected by the local Ford dealer but they were unable/unwilling to find the root issue. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear?.
Deafening sound, speaker pop and random static/buzz sound coming through speakers at random times to include forward /reverse driving, changing gears etc.
January 2, 2023 Ford motor company product claims department 1-800-392-3673 p. O. Box 70 dearborn, michigan 48121 vehicle VIN #1ftfw1ed5nfb14199 new 2022 Ford F-150 dear claims department/legal department, on December 22, 2022 at approximately 5:00 p. M. Driver of vehicle was leaving the office to go home and as he entered the vehicle and sat in driver seat to turn the vehicle on the engine fired on and at that very moment a loud pop explosion sounded throughout the vehicle cabin. In the short duration to his home the vehicle had a static electrical sound amplifying through the vehicles speakers while the truck was on as well as when the vehicle was in the parked off position. I immediately phoned my fleet manager at colley Ford in glendora California and via telephone he acknowledged the vehicles state of trouble and notified me to have the vehicle inspected immediately for findings. Rather than pay for towing, gq landscape care decided to take said vehicle to the nearest Ford location from the office which is approximately 3. 5 miles. The employee drove the vehicle with the windows unrolled as this noise being emitted was making him physically ill, headache and earache. Upon his arrival to chino hills Ford the service advisor maria ochoa documented the vehicles condition and also brought her service manager “tom” out for inspection as neither one of them have had a vehicle thus far making such a horrible noise, they both acknowledged and recognized that this was not a normal noise. At this point practically half of their maintenance team came out and wanted to see what vehicle was making such noise. That night and for 3 more days following original incident my employees head and ears have suffered extreme headache and earache. As of December 27, 2022 chino hills Ford has recognized and diagnosed the culprit issue to be the amplifier. Please see attached. I have asked for a rental vehicle due to the fact that this vehicle has put my employees nuerological healt.
Stereo/infotainment system loud bang followed by increasingly loud static through the speakers. Occured 20 or so seconds after starting the truck and driving down the road. Happened around 2800 miles and has only happened once. Initial bang was startling and the static noise was distracting which could have caused an accident. Volume button non functional. Stopping and shutting vehicle completely off and on momentarily did nothing. After letting the truck sit off and locked for 5min+ the sound finally stopped and everything returned to normal. There was a distinct burning smell left in the truck for the rest of the day. Ears were left ringing for a couple hours after. Possible ear damage from this. Luckily there wasn't anyone else in the vehicle that could have suffered from ear damage. Dealer is aware of the issue but hasn't looked at the truck as duplicating the issue is near impossible. No warning lamps or anything visually different from normal. I have video of the static noises.
Upon entering our 22 f150 platinum, closing the doors, and pushing the ignition button, a very loud explosion was heard followed by a loud crackling noise that continued around the entire top of our truck. The control panel then went completely black. This explosion was so loud that our ears were ringing for hours afterwards. If we had been driving the truck when this happened we could have had an accident. We tried to turn the radio down as this explosion came on full blast in all 18 speaks, but had no control. We had to leave the vehicle and wait. Once it stopped and we reentered the vehicle, it smelled like something was burning. There has to be something wrong with the b & o amplifier in these vehicles. I have read a number of other complaints, so I know we are not alone. One person drove it to the dealer and the service manager heard it and said it had to be an amplifier problem. Another person was told to pull fuse number 28 out to get it to stop. If I paid $80,000 for my truck, I should not have to deal with this. How can I get this fixed?.
I turned on the truck and heard a loud crack followed by load static originating from the front passenger area. This was from the stereo speakers. My right ear endured a lasting and substantial amount of pain. I will estimate, based on measurements of spl I've made as an engineer, that the crack was approximately 120db.
After starting the vehicle, I heard a loud pop and then loud static that couldn't be turned off. The sound is very deafening and hazardous to babies with developing ears. Has happened twice already in the past week.
My radio speakers turned to 100% volume and the subwoofer made an extremely loud static noise. It could not be turned off. My ears rang and thankfully I wasn’t driving fast enough, as I was about to pull into my driveway. Based on the advice of a thread I read online, the best way to fix the issue was to shut the truck off and let the noise eventually turn off… which took ten minutes. Since I could not reproduce the issue, and based on everything I’ve read about this issue, going to the dealer would not be a benefit of my time as they require the issue to be happening to diagnose the issue. I cannot replicate it again, but if this happens while I’m driving much faster, I fear it will cause me to wreck… or lose my hearing. The noise was quite literally deafening. . Read more...
Our truck is equipped with the b&o unleashed sound system. One afternoon, upon starting the truck after completing a brief errand, an extremely loud pop sound occured, followed by terrible static and crackling from every speaker. The noises continued for several minutes, even after noticing the audio system was off and then also turning the truck itself off. The terrible noises simply continued. Although the sound eventually stopped, the truck now regularly makes two or three quieter popping sounds as the driver first approaches the truck; nearly every time. The sounds seem to come from the driver door's speaker. There is also faint crackling on occasion from the headrest speakers.
