Ford F-150 owners have reported 2,384 problems related to equipment (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford F-150 based on all problems reported for the F-150.
The felt under shield on the Ford f150 ha came detached three times. I have replaced it each time. When I returned to the Ford dealer I was told not to replace because it will get wet and fall off again. More importantly they said it was not needed. Its function is to reduce noise and keep mud, dirt, and rain from getting under the vehicle. I was told if I wanted to replace it I could get an after market product made of metal to stop if from breaking. The part that breaks is the felt connection where it screws into the underbody. My point is that if the Ford dealership tells me I don't need it why is it there in the first place? next, Ford dealerships know this is a problem, there are many complains on the Ford internet sites. Because it has happened so many times to me and others Ford should have a recall and they should pay for the metal replacement. This should be a class action suit because Ford manufacture and Ford dealers know it is a problem, but still sell the vehicle knowing the issue.

While driving on the highway on several occasions, the transmission drops from 6th gear to a lower gear, either seeming to slip, or locking the wheels causing a bad jerk. I have an appointment in two days , but am concerned that there may be more damage to my vehicle that will show up later due to this issue. I had another dealership try to charge to to repair my truck. I am hopefull that the new dealership will do right by me.

Vehicle information: year: 2014 make: Ford model: F-150 component: power train (transmission / powertrain control module) dealership involved:midway motors Ford, 2075 e kansas Ave, mcpherson, KS 67460 complaint description:I am filing a formal safety complaint against Ford motor company and midway motors Ford in mcpherson, KS, for failing to provide a free remedy under active federal safety recall 24s37 (NHTSA campaign 24v444). My 2014 Ford F-150 was brought to the dealership to complete safety recall 24s37, which addresses severe, sudden transmission downshifts. The dealership performed a software update to the powertrain control module (pcm). Immediately following this update, the truck's drivability severely deteriorated, and the transmission began violently slamming into 3rd gear, locking itself into a dangerous transmission fault "limp mode. " the diagnostic scans post-update indicate a failure of the molded lead frame/speed sensor. According to Ford's official technical service bulletin for recall 24s37, physical replacement of the molded lead frame is an explicitly authorized remedy when diagnostic codes appear following the software flash. However, both the local servicing dealership (midway motors Ford) and Ford corporate customer service are actively refusing to perform this physical safety repair free of charge. They are wrongfully claiming that because my vehicle has over 200,000 miles, it is disqualified from financial assistance. They are confusing a federal, non-expiring safety recall with an older, expired warranty extension program (19n01). By refusing to replace the defective lead frame that their own software update triggered into an active failure state, the manufacturer and dealer are leaving my vehicle in an unsafe, undrivable condition and violating federal recall mandates. I request that NHTSA intervene to compel Ford to complete the mandatory safety recall remedy at zero cost to me.

On July 24. 2026 I lost all brakes in my 2016 Ford F-150 while towing a fishing boat. I had just decended a steep grade on a busy downtown street when I received an alert that I was low on brake fluid. The next pump of the brake went to the floor. I received an audible alarm. Had this occured on the steep grade, this could have been a very serious accident. I understand the loss of brakes was due to failure of the master cylinder just and as described by the open recall on my vehicle. I added a quart of brake fluid to an empty resevoir, tried to pump the brakes up and the fluid vanished. I could not find any evidence of a leak. Clearly the fluid is in the brake booster, which is also replaced under this recall. I had the vehicle delivered to the closest dealership, pierre Ford of lynnwood on Monday the 27th. The service advisor tod me he would need ot for two days. Four days later, the advisor text me to report that parts are not available, and that he would let me know when they were. I asked him to make sure that a vor report had been submitted so that my repair repair parts could be expidited by Ford corporate. He assured me the vor had been placed. Today, on July 31, I called customer care who verified my recall eligability, and also informed me that no vor had been requested against my VIN. I have found genuine Ford parts for the repair of my vehicle in many Ford facilities in the nation. I dont feel that Ford is working very hard to get my only vehicle back on the road.

A/c shuts off after 30-45 minutes of running cold. It’s clear from the amount of condensation after I park, that the evaporator core is freezing due to a faulty temperature sensor.

I have had issues with my door locks one by one for the last year until now all of them have failed and no longer work. I have mentioned this issue multiple times at bob tomes Ford in mckinney texas the last few times and got prices for the repair but it is a bit pricey. Recently I have just found out that Ford had campaign 20m04 to address these bad door lock actuator latches but the car has to be under 10 years old and under 150,000 miles. This service I am currently at the service department finally mentioned it to me and advised that I am out of the free repair window as I am now just over the 10 years and mileage and it will now be $2,400 dollars to repair this. I never received any kind of mailing announcing this recall campaign or was never told about it the numerous times I have been into the dealer in the past to bring my vehicle in for basic maintenance like I am usually told about other recalls. My very last trip here I was under the covered time period and nothing was said to me after I mentioned the door locks starting to go bad. I feel Ford and this dealership bob tomes Ford is deliberatly not telling customers about this so they do not have to repair it until the consumer will have to pay for the fix. This is incredible deceitful on Ford and the dealerships part and I feel that something should be done about this.
Exited side street onto main 4 lane main road with a median. Upon pulling out wrench light appeared causing all power to engine to cease, oncoming traffic almost hit me. Upon limping into median I shut vehicle off and turned back on. Wrench light was gone, check engine light was there. Code p2112, p2004, p2009.
The vehicle experienced intermittent transmission-related drivability issues before the recall remedy was available. The vehicle had delayed/hard shifting, an intermittent wrench warning light, and a reduced power/limp mode condition where the transmission would not shift normally. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ford dealer on multiple occasions, including diagnostic visits on 10/09/2023, 05/12/2025, and 02/09/2026. Ford later issued recall 26s28 involving the powertrain control module/transmission control system, and the recall remedy was performed. After the recall repair was completed, the original drivability concern continued, including sluggish shifting and delayed engagement between gears. As a second attempted repair related to the wrench warning light and transmission concern, the dealer identified the possibility of a faulty transmission lead frame and reviewed replacement under the applicable coverage. However, the dealer refused to replace the lead frame because the related fault code was not currently present during their inspection. The intermittent nature of the failure causes the code to clear after the vehicle is restarted, making it difficult to capture during a dealer visit. I provided photographic proof showing the wrench warning light was present after picking up the vehicle on the same day the recall repair was supposedly completed. Despite this evidence and the continued symptoms, the lead frame replacement was not performed. The vehicle has not been involved in a crash, but the intermittent loss of normal transmission operation creates a safety concern, especially during acceleration, merging, or uphill driving. The issue has been reported to Ford and inspected by a Ford dealer. Repair documentation, photos, and service records are available.
I am the owner of a 2014 Ford F-150 that is experiencing sudden, unexpected downshifts into a lower gear while driving at highway speed. This has happened on multiple occasions and has nearly caused accidents, including loss of vehicle control momentarily. This defect matches the description of Ford safety recall 26s45 (loss of signal between the transmission output shaft speed sensor and the powertrain control module, causing unexpected downshift into first gear). Despite this, my vehicle was not included when I checked recall status, even though I have an open Ford claim number: cxh-08412521-f6l5j4. I am filing this complaint to ensure this incident is on record given the ongoing safety risk, and to request that NHTSA confirm whether my VIN should be captured under recall 26s45 or a related campaign (24s37/24v444). Description: transmission suddenly and dramatically downshifts at highway speed without warning, causing loss of vehicle control and near-accidents.
On July 2, 2026, the vehicle was brought to an authorized dealer for a scheduled appointment to resolve active safety recall 26s45 / NHTSA campaign 26v378 (6r80 transmission sudden downshift defect). The dealership refused to perform the recall software update, claiming it was not needed for the vehicle. On July 12, 2026, while traveling at highway speeds on a public highway, the transmission suffered the exact un-commanded sudden downshift described in the recall. The violent mechanical force instantly snapped the rear driveshaft in half and severed the undercarriage air conditioning lines, creating a sudden, life-threatening loss of control and wheel speed reduction on a live highway. The vehicle is now permanently disabled due to the dealer's refusal to fulfill a federal safety mandate.
Vehicle suffered a violent, un-commanded highway-speed downshift due to NHTSA campaign 26v237000 / Ford recall 26s28. The tachometer was redlined during the incident. The mechanical overspeed immediately damaged the engine's cam phasers. Eide Ford in mandan, nd, applied the recall software patch after the structural failure already occurred, cleared the diagnostic trouble codes without providing a copy to the owner, and is refusing to replace the lead frame or cover the resulting valve train damage, demanding $7,200 out-of-pocket.
The back-up camera went out. I see a recall for some Ford f150 cameras that have the same issue I have on my 2016 f150. Why did they not include other years in the recall?.
Vehicle is subject to open NHTSA recall 25v455 for fuel pump failure that can cause loss of fuel pressure and engine stall. Vehicle is now completely non-drivable — will not start at all. Dealer confirmed awareness of the recall but stated the manufacturer has not yet provided parts or a repair procedure. Recall status shows incomplete, remedy not yet available. Vehicle owner currently has no working transportation and no timeline for repair from the manufacturer.

I had the recall number 05s28 repaired at high desert Ford on July sixth as a part of a California safety inspection to register my vehicle. Per Ford they are done however they refuse to update the system which holds my vehicle unable to be registered even after the services were rendered and complete. Multiple attempts to trendy have failed any results thus Ford is holding my vehicle hostage from legal use in the state.

I had simply shut my drivers side door and the rear windshield had exploded. Vehicle has less than 4,500 miles.
Got into the truck on Thursday 7/2/26. When I shut my door I heard what sounded like something falling out of the bed of the truck. When I got out to investigate I realized the back glass of the truck had shattered and was laying in the bed of the truck. There was no indication of vandalism, the glass had pushed out from the inside, apparently related to the recent high heat in my area. I parked the truck on 6/30 and the morning of 7/2 was when I found the shattered rear glass.

Issues with my 2025 f150 tremor when I applied my brakes firmly, really not that hard ( not hard enough to skid) my truck locked into park and I wasn’t even able to put it back into a gear with a flashing message! couldn’t get it back into gear for about 30 sec to 60 sec until a message stopped flashing. Had this happened in traffic or on a freeway this could have been really bad especially in traffic. Very dangerous!.
The instrument panel cluster flickered and flashed for months consistently after the recall repair was complete then failed just outside of bumper to bumper warranty. Yes its available for inspection. When failure occurred the turn signals wipers and collision safety systems all stopped working simultaneously. The vehicle is at the dealer and has been confirmed. The component is still in the vehicle. No warning lamps symptoms have been present for the entire 1 year of ownership but became more predominate after recall software update.
I was driving down the highway and the right, rear window shattered and blew glass all over the inside of my truck (the cab). There was no incident, no stress cracks, etc. The window simply “exploded”. I drove to the nearest Ford dealership, assuming it would be covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. After the dealership had my vehicle a full week, they informed me Ford would not pay. I told them to order the window and replace it as I needed my vehicle back. I ended up being without my truck for two weeks. I paid $591. 60 and called Ford today, to ask for reimbursement. I was told they cannot do so as the warranty only covers “windshields” for 12 months. I reminded the agent that this is a rear passenger window to no avail. After a little research, I’ve found that hundreds of F-150 owners have had this occur. Granddaughter could have been in that seat as it was the rear passenger seat! this is a dangerous issue. I am still cleaning up glass, I continue to find all over the cab.

The ac will quit on long trips and if I have fogged windows the windshield will not defog. This has happened on several occasions. Ford knows about this and has sent out a technical software update but wants customers to pay for this tps 242212. . On some vehicles the sensor is on the wrong place and Ford has the mechanic to put a spacer in there. This cost $2000-$3000. Ford should take ownership and pay for the fixes. The coil is freezing up because the system is getting faulty information from the computer.
Steering knuckle broke while driving which caused the driver to lose control and crash into parked car. After the crash, we reviewed what happebed and noticed the front passenger side wheel, rotors, control arms and brake line was completely removed from the truck. Also the steering knuckle was broken. This is what caused driver to lose control and crash.
This truck that I have purchased from palm coast Ford has a recall every month that keeps me from utilizing the vehicle. The latest recall that there is not a fix for yet, I was told is a complete risk and I should not even drive the truck. I request that you look into all of the recalls that have been listed on this particular vehicle and know that I am taking this up with Ford, but also wanted to inform your database of the issues as well. I have only had the truck for about a year and it has been recall after recall and this one there is not even a fix for it till next year, and I am not supposed to even drive it cause it is hazardous.
Hooked up my trailer after coming home from a trip to take it to a dump station to empty the tanks. Ford oem trailer brake control module locked the brakes on my trailer immediately and then short circuited itself, emitting a burnt electrical smell through out the vehicle, then suddenly released the brakes and would not function via the brake petal or manually engaging the lever. There were no previous indications that an issue was happening. After removing I found that a single chip had bubbled and melted itself. Had this happened while the trailer was in significant motion, such as towing down a canyon, could have resulted in catastrophic loss.
Ford has a known issue with the 2019 f150 eco boost cam phaser rattling. They replaced once and it failed again. They now refuse to repair the fix that should have corrected the initial cam phaser issue. They continue to use faulty parts.

We received the safety recal 26v237 in may. Today 6/16/26, while driving the vehicle, it began acting like the recal said, however, the truck failed and will not start. My husband went and purchased a battery first because we didn't realize it was the recall at first. We cannot go without the vehicle. We will need to have someone tow the car once there is a repair available, however, in the mean time, we need a loaner/replacement truck. We called the number on the form, but they could not help with a failed vehicle and we called the manufacturer, but there is no button for the vehicle is failed and we need help. It hung up on us because they don't have a fix for the defect, there is nothing on the warning about what to do when the vehicle fails and you don't yet have a fix.
As I was driving in to my driveway slowly, and applying the brake my 2023 Ford F-150 accerated and lunged forward.
The turn signal stalk on my 2023 Ford F-150 lightning intermittently requires excessive force to manually cancel after turns and lane changes. The stalk self-cancels normally roughly 50% of the time, but when the steering wheel does not rotate far enough to trigger automatic cancellation the driver must manually return the stalk to center. The condition is most reliably reproduced when the cabin has been elevated in temperature for an extended period and subsides once cooled. The issue predominantly affects right-hand turns and lane changes. The affected component is the turn signal stalk switch pack (multifunction switch), available for inspection. Diagnostic scanning confirmed dtc b124c stored in the sccm. Based on my research this code indicates a turn indicator stalk switch pack fault. The safety risk is threefold: first, a stalk that does not self-cancel sends false signals to other drivers. Second, manually forcing the stalk back to center diverts driver attention from vehicle control. Third, when the stalk releases under applied force it does so suddenly and without warning, and if the driver's hand is on the steering wheel this can cause an involuntary steering input, risking unintended lane departure at highway speeds. I am the second owner, having purchased from a dealership at approximately 60,000 miles. The defect was present at purchase and has worsened progressively to approximately 76,000 miles. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer as it is outside warranty. No warning lamp is present; however dtc b124c is confirmed via diagnostic scanning. I documented the issue in a video post which received responses from numerous affected owners: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving the vehicle, the rear glass spontaneously shattered. There was no impact, damage, or misuse. This was all confirmed by the dealership following the incident.
The truck exhibited the abrupt downshifting upon driving out of the parking lot, this caused great stress and possible accidents to me and family. The transmission continued to get worse and we were in fear of our lives to drive the vehicle on the highway. Once we got the vehicle home it literally would not shift into gear and has been disabled since the first week in xxx. We are plumbing and heat contractors and have lost a great deal of business due to not having a truck/this truck to use for work. We had it towed to greico Ford in [xxx] on advice from keith, the service mgr. We know the recall is due in xxx. This dealership is now trying to tell us that all the hoses are damaged and wants to charge us $2,000 to repair the hoses. We obviously don't want to do this since we believe the violent jarring and downshifting of the transmission caused by this mfg defect probably caused this and a lot more other problems. Mfg recall #26s28, NHTSA recall# 26v237. I need to know when this recall remedy will be submitted and what are my rights to get this fixed? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Vehicle was in Ford dealership’s service bay for an oil change service and reportedly caught fire inside the cab behind the dash due to an electrical system malfunction. The service technician stated that it was on the rack and just spontaneously caught fire inside the cab in the dash behind the infotainment system.

My 2019 F-150 has only 25,000 miles. The dealership has confirmed transmission failure requiring a $9,000 replacement. A transmission is expected to last significantly longer than 25,000 miles. I have maintained the vehicle. This is an extraordinary premature failure on a critical part of the vehicle and it poses a massive safety liability.
My 2018 f150 downshifted to first and scuttled across the road because it downshifted so hard. I almost wrecked because of this! it messed with my transmission ability !.

Excessive oil consumption. I have to check and refill every single week since I drive over 100 miles/day, it is ridiculous how much oil burns. Transmission at high speed acts very erratic, when downshifting is like it doesn't know what do do and when it finally decides to down shift, it kicks so hard that feels like it's going to brake in pieces, even at low speed the shifting is very hard, not smooth at all. Radio carplay is useless, every time I try carplay, it works but I am not able to use the volume, so I have the feature but can't use it.
Transmission downshifted without notice.
Windshield seal failure. Water intrusion into the electrical system. The horn does not work and intermittent starting problems. Water intrusion caused mold in numerous components. Truck was checked over at local Ford dealer. Waiting for parts to make repairs. Repair quote available if needed.
