36 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

In April 2026 the recall on this truck was done to correct a fault for the trailer disconnect. I hooked up my travel trailer for the 1st time here in June and the false warning still came on 5 times during my trip. The software update that was done is not solving the problem. Warning light comes on, says trailer disconnected while the trailer is still connected and all connections are plugged in.

38 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/29/2026

The transmission is absolutely flawed - it delays shifting in unpredictable ways when in traffic, and often slams into gear when downshifting, which is jarring on the driver. Transmission should absolutely be recalled for the bushing. It is unsafe and unethical that Ford knowingly continued to used this transmission knowing it was causing issues.

39 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/29/2026

2021 Ford F-150 lariat, 5. 0l coyote v8, purchased new, now 65k miles. Two interrelated safety defects: oil consumption: on 3/21/2026 at 62k miles, I discovered the engine was critically low on oil. Only 3 quarts drained during a full oil change, against a rated 8. 8 quart capacity. The engine had been running on one third of required oil. The onboard oil life monitor showed 9% remaining and gave no low-oil warning, no warning lights, no alerts. No external leak. On 5/22/2026, koons Ford woodbridge formally confirmed excessive oil consumption after a documented oil consumption test. Ford TSB 19-2365 acknowledges this exact defect on the 5. 0l coyote for 2018-2020 model years, attributing it to high intake manifold vacuum during deceleration fuel shut-off pulling oil into the combustion chamber. The 2021 engine is mechanically identical. Transmission: hard and slipping gear shifts reported to Ford within months of purchase in 2021. Ford issued multiple software updates over the years to mitigate the behavior, most recently late 2025. Fix was temporary; hard/slipping shifts returned. Catastrophic failure: while awaiting Ford hq authorization on repairs, the vehicle suffered complete drivetrain failure on Friday night. Engine lost power and transmission failed entirely. I was near home and coasted safely off the road. Had this occurred at highway speed during my daily commute, the result could have been catastrophic. Vehicle towed to koons Ford woodbridge. Safety concern: this is my only vehicle, used for daily highway commuting. The oil consumption defect provides no warning before engine damage. The transmission has degraded despite years of Ford software patches. The vehicle has demonstrated total drivetrain failure capability with no driver warning. Ford corporate case opened: cxh-07446845-g0j0k0. Filing to document this at the federal level and add to the existing pattern of complaints. Requesting NHTSA review whether these defects warrant investigation.

40 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/29/2026

Preston automotive group sold me a used truck that had a replaced odometer and offered and sold as if the vehicles odometer reflected correct mileage. When I brought to their attention they said this is not illegal and should not be a problem and offered no remedy!.

41 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/28/2026

I had to replace my transmission entirely at my own expense after it ultimately failed. Prior to the failure, I had already filed a complaint because the transmission was exhibiting the well-documented symptoms associated with the 10r80, including harsh shifting and unpredictable operation. These issues created legitimate safety concerns while driving, as I could not rely on the vehicle to shift properly or respond consistently in traffic. A vehicle of this age should not require a complete transmission replacement due to what appears to be a design-related issue. Ford has acknowledged these transmission concerns in multiple technical service bulletins addressing harsh shifting, delayed engagement, and related issues with the 10r80 transmission. However, despite recognizing these recurring conditions, Ford has not extended warranty coverage or issued a recall for affected vehicles. Additionally, Ford revised the cdf clutch cylinder/drum design in later-production transmissions, indicating that the original design was updated after these issues became apparent. Given the widespread nature of these failures and the subsequent engineering changes, I believe owners should not bear the full financial burden of repairing what appears to be a known defect. The financial impact extended far beyond the cost of the repair itself. Because my truck was out of service for more than six weeks awaiting replacement, I was forced to find alternative transportation while continuing to operate my own company. This caused significant disruption to my business and daily responsibilities, all due to a transmission failure that appears consistent with a known issue affecting the 10r80.

42 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/28/2026

Check engine light went on. Knock sensor failure. Vehicle running rough and knocking. On line lots of people complaining. Gentleman in the service department who works for Ford said that he has been getting a lot of knock sensor failures lately.

43 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/27/2026

In 2025 I took my truck in for a recall reference 24s37 which was a software update to prevent intermittent failure of my output shaft sensor in my transmission. My sensor is now failed and Ford is claiming that there is no remedy for coverage as I already did the software update but my truck is still experiencing problems.

44 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/24/2026

Vehicle is having erratic downshifting at highway speeds causing it to drop gears and brake harshly then violently accelerate. The transmission was already replaced by the dealer in 2025. Dealer is reporting they cannot get the vehicle to duplicate the issue but this has posed a great safety risk of injury for my family.

45 Equipment problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

Contacted Ford about recalls 26s28 and 19v075 and they report that my vehicle is out of the warranty period for repair. They were advised that this is under a NHTSA recall and still refuse to honor the NHTSA safety recall stating that it is outside the window for replacement. Again advised them that this is a NHTSA recall and they still refuse to honor it. My vehicle is inoperable due to this.

46 Equipment problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

VIN # [xxx] Ford customer service current case number: [xxx] integrated trailer module failure after recall completion. Nhtsa campaign id recall # 26c10 was completed at coconut point Ford in florida on 3/26/2026. This recall identified that when towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module may lose communication with the trailer possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights or a loss of brake function. On [xxx] in the middle of a seriously steep and dangerous decent, the system reported that the trailer was disconnected from the truck causing, loss of trailer brake control which in turn cause a reliance on the truck. The antilock brake system failed moments later. I had to literally stand on the brakes to slow down to keep from going over the side of the mountain. At the end of the dirt road where it ts onto the highway we could not stop. We travel with a 23 foot 2019 vintage cruiser manufactured by gulf stream. That weighs approximately 5200 lbs empty; I have a cat scale reading of 4840 pounds from a 12/6/24 weight with my previous truck. We do not travel with any water in our black, grey or fresh water tanks so even fully loaded we are still well within specs for this trucks towing capacity. The brake control on the truck was set to 5. Faricy boys Ford in canon city colorado, verified that a recall had been completed and worked on the truck for 3 full days, testing many things including tailgate malfunctions and miscellaneous electrical systems trying to replicate the problem, no dealer has been able to replicate the problem. They finally replaced all the brakes and rotors as well as flushing the brake system. I respectfully requested that Ford motor company assign the review of this case to a regional customer service manager / engineer to review the complete repair history of this vehicle, via registered mail. We haven heard anything yet. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

47 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/21/2026

Based on publicly available reports and similar complaints, multiple F-150 vehicles with the 10-speed automatic transmission appear to experience similar transmission failures at relatively low mileage under normal driving conditions.

48 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/19/2026

The transmission system failed, consistent with an active federal safety recall issued for this vehicle. The primary symptom was a complete failure to start. The vehicle is currently at helfman, where it was towed for recall repair. It is available for inspection upon request at that location. A vehicle that fails to start due to a transmission defect under active recall creates a safety hazard in that the owner may be stranded — including in unsafe locations or conditions — without warning. The vehicle became completely inoperable with no ability to move it under its own power, requiring emergency towing. Additionally, a transmission defect can create unpredictable vehicle behavior risk if the failure had occurred while the vehicle was in motion rather than at rest. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Ford dealership, which received the vehicle for recall-related repair and initially indicated it was awaiting parts — implying the recall defect and the vehicle's no-start condition were acknowledged. The dealership subsequently refused to complete the repair without providing a clear written explanation. Unknown whether a formal written diagnosis was issued.

49 Equipment problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/18/2026

Traveling on 2 lane road with no vehicles ahead or behind—full roof sun roof glass exploded, loud gunshot sound and broken glass. Remaining glass bowed up and a lot of glass blow back on to bed cover. I walked several hundred feet on both sides of road and no cause apparent—no lawn or weed trimming happening. Clearly this exploded inside out.

50 Equipment problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/17/2026

My truck violently downshifted randomly and caused me to lose control for a little bit. I was lucky to narrowly avoid a crash. The truck is showing transmission range sensor codes after the truck downshifts harshly. My local Ford dealer did a diagnosis and confirmed that it has a faulty molded lead frame. However, they are refusing to cover the repair and are saying that I either pay them or stop driving the truck because the lead frame replacement is not explicitly listed as a remedy on the recall even though recall 26s28 lists the lead frame as a cause of the issue and even says that dealers will replace it at no cost if it has already gone bad, which mine has.

51 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/15/2026

I was driving and slowing down for a stop sign and the engine shut off by itself while still moving at appx 10-15mph. The display had several warning lights appear, and the message "auto start stop, shift to p, then restart engine". I have the auto start stop disabled on my vehicle, so there was no reason for my engine to shut off while decelerating. I searched online for potential causes and discovered that there are numerous incidents of this happening (engine shutting off while moving) to drivers that have deactivated the auto start stop on their vehicles. See link: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

52 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/13/2026

This is a continuation/escalation of NHTSA complaint 11689917. My 2021 Ford F-150 has experienced repeated fuel-system/electrical fuel-pump failures. The vehicle previously stalled and later cranked but would not start, returning code p0627 “fuel pump a control circuit / open. ” the in-tank fuel pump was replaced at owner expense for approximately $1,400 at an independent service center in September of 2025, but the repair did not permanently resolve the issue. The vehicle has now again lost fuel pressure/propulsion while traveling approximately 50 mph on a two-lane highway in a similar manner to prior failures. I was able to get the vehicle off the roadway, and it required towing back to my residence. This is approximately the fourth or fifth fuel-related failure, including stalls at low speed and non-start conditions related to fuel in parking lots. The symptoms appear consistent with Ford/NHTSA recall 25v455 / Ford recall 25s75, but my VIN was not included in the affected group. I am concerned that the recall population may be too narrow or that the remedy does not address the full defect pattern.

53 Equipment problem of the 2023 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

There is a manufacturing defect that is causing water to to enter the vehicle when driving in the rain. Where this becomes a significant safety issue is that the water enters somewhere near the bottom of the windshield (source still not determined) and runs down the pillar over the fuse box and bcm (neither is protected from the water). This could lead to an electrical short on any of the major modules of the vehicle unpredictably. The leak is confirmed but source is still to be determined by the dealership after 2 visits. In searching the web, this seems to be a fairly common issue on this generation of f150 trucks. I'll attach the pictures I could get but can never get one with the water actually coming in live.

55 Equipment problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2026

I received a safety recall notice 26s28/NHTSA recall 26v237 on the same day that this occurred in my truck. Luckily for me, I was within 2 miles of home, the only way I could get home was to drive in first gear up the mountain road to get there. My truck is not drivable. If this happens on a freeway, I most likely would be rear ended as the vehicle stops suddenly. What recourse do I have from Ford motor company since I can’t drive the truck that they sold me? the recall notice says a fix won’t be ready until July, and that is a long time from now. I need a vehicle to drive. I feel like not having this remedy ready yet means that it’s not ready in a timely manner.

56 Equipment problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/08/2026

I took the vehicle in for maintenance -transmission flush, oil change, anything they could find because I was planning on a road trip and wanted it ready. They found the box frame just behind the front tires had completely rusted with large holes. The service tech did not even want to put the vehicle on the lift. They took some pictures and sent them to me. No maintenance was performed due to the severity of the rot. After inspection, no where else on the frame or body/fixtures is there rust like this. There is typical surface rust in usual places. I took multiple pictures of the problem areas as well as adjacent areas. Upon research I found that the 2015-2020 models have this issue due to the lack of weep holes in the box frame which accumulate moisture and rot from the inside out. The truck is a 2019 has 71k miles. I have owned Ford trucks for nearly the last 30 years and have never had this issue. Unfortunately the tech said it is not road safe given its condition.

Vehicle safety hazard & recall remedy denial recall: 26s28 / NHTSA campaign 26v237 summary of issue: I am experiencing active, unsafe vehicle symptoms directly tied to recall 26s28, including intermittent transmission signal loss, warning lights, and abrupt downshifts while driving. I initially contacted Ford in April/may 2026 immediately following the recall notice, but was informed no remedy or repair parts were available at that time, forcing me to operate a vehicle with a known driveability and safety hazard for three months. Now that the vehicle is at the dealership, Ford is refusing to perform the physical lead frame replacement under the recall/field action solely because the vehicle has not latched a permanent diagnostic trouble code (dtc), despite the technician confirming physical hardware failure. Safety impact & systemic failure: 1. Defect root cause: the lead frame degradation is the primary root physical defect of recall 26s28, not secondary damage. 2. Unreasonable safety risk: forcing drivers to operate vehicles experiencing active downshifting and loss of drive power until a specific dtc latches poses an immediate highway crash hazard. 3. Inadequate remedy program: Ford’s requirement for a specific stored dtc creates an unreasonable barrier to recall execution, denying necessary hardware repairs to vehicles experiencing the exact safety failure described in the recall. Ford must be held accountable for providing a functional physical remedy for vehicles exhibiting active recall symptoms, regardless of whether a transient electrical fault registered a permanent dtc code.

62 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/01/2026

My 2022 Ford f150 b&o unleashed sound system 18spk explodes from time to time with a deafening noise (pop, then static) that makes you jump. Turning off the radio does not stop the deafening noise. In the past, at times, I was able to stop the deafening noise by switching from satellite to am radio. This last time, nothing I tried stopped the deafening noise and I could not pull off the road to turn off the truck for 10 minutes. My ears were still hurting the next day. During the 10 minutes I had to wind down the windows which did not help much. The speakers were getting hot to the touch, especially the little tweeter speaker, with a plastic burning smell. Each subsequent time I turned the truck back on (after waiting about a half minute) the deafening noise started again. Then I waited 10-15 minutes before starting the truck and the noise stopped. My truck is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others are put at risk because you jump when the problem occurs and are distracted when endeavoring to stop the problem. The Ford dealership cannot diagnose the problem unless the deafening noise appears at the time of service. The sound system has not been inspected by the manufacturer. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the start of the deafening noise (pop, then static).

63 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/30/2026

My 2014 Ford f150 truck went into “limp mode” last week. A wrench showed up on my dashboard, my speedometer didn’t function, and it sounded like the transmission was “winding up” if I tried to accelerate. After hitting “ok” to remove the wrench and restarting the truck a couple of times, my check engine light illuminated. I was driving at about 40 mph when this occurred and it was a scary moment. Luckily I was able to keep my truck under control and drove very slowly back home considering I was less than 4 miles from my home. The truck went into a Ford dealership in 2024 for the “transmission recall” in which the only thing I noticed different was that I couldn’t see the digital shifting of the transmission on the screen anymore and they “killed” my battery. I still had issues every so often with power loss or the transmission shifting down abruptly, but it wouldn’t throw a code. Last week it threw a code. P0720 to be exact, the reason for the transmission recall in the first place. There was no fix done with the recall and it made it so that I had to watch my rpm’s to track my transmission shifting. This is extremely concerning especially since I was having the issues prior to a computer reprogram and it wasn’t addressed. I have also seen that there’s yet another Ford transmission recall that could affect my truck considering it was assembled in June 2014 and fits the transmission 6r80 that needs fixed. Could someone please help? thank you.

64 Equipment problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/28/2026

Transmission issues: harsh, erratic shifting (jerking, lurching, and hesitating, especially when cold). Delayed engagement (2 to 3 seconds before engaging drive or reverse). Gear slippage accompanied by prominent clunking. Severe risk of total transmission failure if left unaddressed.

65 Equipment problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/24/2026

While driving on a surface road in columbia, MD at approximately 40 mph, the dash display of the 2024 Ford lightning flash went completely blank, leaving no indication of vehicle speed, battery percentage, battery temp, motor temp, cruise control status etc. Zero information was displayed, and the dash was completely cold and dark. This failure, while traveling at speed, represents a gross safety hazard, especially because the same lcd displays automatic emergency braking informaion etc. Immediately, I was able to pull over, and establish an obd-2 connection to the ecm, and pull error logs. I also took screenshots of critical components and voltages. I cleared the codes, re-checked for codes and saved another error log showing a couple of codes. I then cycled power to the truck several times, hoping for a reboot to clear the error. I also performed a manual reset of the Ford sync system. Using the obd-2 virtual dash on my reader, I was able to safely display speed and battery data, and drive immediately to the nearest Ford dealer (koons Ford). On the way, I phoned crossroads Ford (apex, nc) who did a remote error check using the vehicle's modem. The dealer may have saved this data. Upon arrival to koons, service writers and technicians were able to witness and verify inoperability of the dash unit, and cycle the vehicle power, whereafter the problem persisted. They then took it back for service and evaluation. After approximately 4 hours, I was told that the "dash reset itself after a couple hours" and they could not get it to repeat the error after it came back. Before this, there were no warning signs of dash failure, nor since.

My 2013 Ford F-150 5. 0 pulled any evil on me. On 4-23-2026 driving home from work at approximately 3:55 pm with speed of approximately 40 to 45 mph a very hard hit of something as if I had been struck from the rear and immediately at the same time both of the rear wheels locked up and where skidding on the roadway. This lasted for maybe just under 30 seconds. Fortunately, no one was behind me. The truck did make that hard bump sound again but nothing else occurred. With less than 3 miles from home I was able to drive slowly and get home. I am afraid to drive it anywhere now!.

70 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/18/2026

Complaint description: unintended transmission downshift vehicle: 2014 Ford F-150 issue: intermittent transmission malfunction / severe unintended downshifting detailed symptoms: sudden downshifting: while traveling at cruising speeds (typically in 4th or 5th gear), the vehicle occasionally performs an uncommanded downshift directly into 1st gear without driver input. Start-up stalling: the vehicle intermittently becomes "stuck" in 1st gear upon acceleration from a stop, refusing to upshift into higher gears. Lack of warning: these events occur with zero warning signs. No "check engine" light, "wrench" icon, or transmission temperature warnings appear on the dashboard before, during, or after the incident. Recall history: the vehicle previously received the official Ford recall repair for the lead frame/output speed sensor issue, yet the life-threatening symptoms have persisted or returned. Diagnostic history: the vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Ford dealership on two separate occasions. The technicians reported that they were "unable to duplicate the failure" and found no stored error codes, leaving the safety defect unresolved. Safety concern: I am filing this complaint because the sudden shift to 1st gear at high speeds causes a violent deceleration (similar to slamming on the brakes), which risks a loss of vehicle control or a high-speed rear-end collision. I have raised this issue to Ford customer relation department as well. Case# cxh07719550, date: 04/20/2026.
