36 Equipment problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/11/2025

In June 2025 and again in December 2025, when my truck stopped at a red traffic light and I applied my brakes to stop the vehicle, my two rear wheels/tires started to spin rapidly non-stop for 60 seconds or the duration of the traffic light, causing a great deal of smoke and noise. My truck acted like a "drag racing" machine on a short track revving its engine and spinning its tires for a very short burst of speed down the track. Cars behind me kept their distance and I thought my truck would bolt forward at any time causing a serious accident. I applied my brakes as firmly as possible, praying my truck would not lose control and bolt forward into the lane of traffic. In June, my mechanic thoroughly inspected my vehicle for four hours, going on a test drive, pulled off all the wheels and checked every pertinent component, ran 3 diagnostic code assessments and found nothing. When it happened again on December 11, 2025, I contacted another mechanic who told me he could not address the issue since it was a known Ford issue and to contact NHTSA and Ford (pe25-002). Finally, there were no warning lights on my dashboard when it happened during these two incidents.

My f150 2023, while driving at slower speeds on four different occasions while applying the brakes, the truck will start accelerating all on its own! I contacted a Ford dealer and they verified on their end that the truck has done this. I have also read from other owners having this same situation.

38 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/05/2025

I was driving the vehicle this morning; the temperature was about 16 degrees freiheit outside and the truck had been sitting out all night. I had the heater on and the rear defroster on. I drove the truck for about 2 minutes on a 25 mph residential street and heard a loud bang. I continued to drive the truck and noticed the driver side pane of the rear sliding glass window had shattered. I did some research online and found several reports from individuals with f-series trucks that have reported similar incidents.

Failure Date: 12/04/2025

“I need to file a complaint because two dealerships refused to perform the required diagnostic for federal safety recall 19s07 on my F-150. They stated they will not replace the lead frame under any circumstance, even if the recall-related oss failure damaged it. Both dealers refused the mandatory recall procedure. My truck is showing all recall symptoms, including speedometer dropouts, prndl flashing, gear indicator cycling, and erratic shifting. I need Ford to contact the dealership and authorize proper recall handling. ”**.

41 Equipment problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/03/2025

The first indication of problems came when I tried to put the truck in gear and I noticed that the reverse light didn't come on and it wouldn't engage into the gear then as I was traveling down a three-lane highway in the middle lane the car started jerking and like it didn't want to go and then I got to a red light and the truck would not move so I was stuck in the central lane but after engaging the gear several times I managed to get the vehicle into a gas station parking lot where I call the dealership after finding out that I had the trouble code that was referred in the recall and the vehicle was towed to duval I mean it was told to hogan forward on atlantic boulevard . Where it's now under inspection.

42 Equipment problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/03/2025

I need to open a safety case. My 2014 Ford F-150 had recall 24s37 performed. Immediately after the recall, the steering locked, the truck stopped itself while still in drive, and a blue oil pressure warning light appeared. The vehicle is unsafe and cannot be driven out of my driveway. The dealership is refusing responsibility and wants to charge diagnostics. I need this inspected and towed under recall responsibility. ”.

43 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/03/2025

The rear windshield spontaneously exploded while the vehicle was stationary. I confirmed this was not caused by any impact or debris. There have been several other reports on various websites of this issue, across multiple models including the f150 and bronco, and potentially being caused by faulty wiring of the rear defroster. Ford has not issued a recall and will not accept responsibility for this defect.

45 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

Water intrusion into the body control module (bcm) caused multiple safety-related electrical failures. The horn no longer functions, traction control activates and deactivates while driving, exterior lights remain on after vehicle shutdown, and the battery must be disconnected to turn off headlights. The issue presents a safety concern while operating the vehicle. Ford motor company was notified and documented the concern but declined assistance due to no active recall or program.

47 Equipment problem of the 2021 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

Guessing the date below truck shuts off when trying to take off and go. This has happened a few times and even pulling onto a main highway. This is a very dangerous situation, and I have contacted Ford and they have stated there is no fix for this. I have contacted carvana which is where I recently purchased the truck within the past month and they state the recall was listed and there's nothing they can do it's up to Ford to fix a recall. They will not take the truck back and now we are stuck paying for over $30,000 on this truck and it keeps stalling on us. We cannot afford for it to just sit in our yard and pay for it if it's not running. We need help to get this fixed. We have no idea what's causing it but assuming it could have everything to do with the open recall or the battery. That battery is over $4000 if we have to replace it. Another thing we noticed is the led lights on the headlights went out randomly and haven't come back on. Another very expensive fix for a truck we just purchased less than a month ago. We took the truck in the shop within the first few days of owning it due to a few issues we felt were not right like pulling to one side, feeling as if it were going over rutted areas on the roadways with a bump and jerk to it as well like it was a transmission issue. The insurance company with carvana choose the place to take it to and we dropped it off and the next day they called and stated nothing was found to be wrong with it and carvana knew we were out of return in time to replace it when they had us drop it off it was like another day.

48 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

Rear view camera displays blank when shifting into reverse. Is available for inspection. Camera is unusable and creates a safety hazard. F-150 not currently included in known issue in other models of f series trucks, but obviously this is a known issue.

49 Equipment problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/30/2025

Problem description: the rear sliding window track on my Ford F-150 has detached / become loose, causing the window to rattle, misalign, and leak water into the cabin. While there is a TSB (ssm 50337) for window rattling, my truck’s issue is more severe, creating a potential safety hazard if the window detaches while driving or allows water damage to electrical components. Additional info: •occurs under normal driving conditions •photos/video available for review •this issue may affect other F-150s with sliding rear windows desired outcome: investigation and determination if this defect warrants a recall or service bulletin to prevent safety hazards.

50 Equipment problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

The rear glass panel of the panoramic sunroof on my 2024 Ford F-150 (approximately 8,800 miles) suddenly and spontaneously shattered while I was driving. There was a single upward-pointing fracture near the front-center of the panel, and the rest of the glass fragmented outward from that point. There was no impact, no debris, no nearby vehicles, and no physical evidence of anything striking the roof or surrounding areas. No objects were found inside the vehicle. The sunroof is available for inspection upon request. This failure created an immediate safety risk. The shattered panel was directly above my two children seated in the rear, and falling glass fragments posed a significant danger of injury. A sudden overhead glass failure also presents a hazard to other drivers if fragments are expelled from the vehicle. There were no signs or symptoms before the breakage. The Ford dealership inspected the vehicle but did not identify any impact damage and did not confirm a cause. The failure has not been reproduced, but I found multiple similar reports from other Ford owners, suggesting this may be consistent with spontaneous internal stress failure of the tempered glass. Given the complete lack of impact evidence and the serious safety risk to occupants and other motorists, I am reporting this as a panoramic sunroof safety defect.

51 Equipment problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/26/2025

Fords around the 2017 year have an issue with their backup cameras not working which is the issue mine is having. When putting truck in reverse backup camera is fully fuzzy with green lines or just goes fully back. It still beeps and can detect something close, but the actual camera doesn't work anymore.

52 Equipment problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

Vehicle was sitting in driveway running. I turned on the front and rear defroster to clear windows before driving. Approximately 60 seconds after turning on rear defroster, the back window shattered. Multiple reports online indicate this is a common occurrence in F-150 and should be looked into further.

53 Equipment problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

The rear camera goes blank when put in reverse. The screen shows "rear camera not available". There were multiple recalls for rear view camera system but my year and model is not included. A lot of same complaints on the web regarding the same issue.

54 Equipment problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/24/2025

My 2025 F-150 tremor (5. 0 v8, 402a package with modular front bumper) has a large open area in the front bumper. Through this opening you can clearly see the front of the engine and related components. This appears to be a design issue rather than a one-off build problem. Other 2025 tremor owners with the same 402a modular bumper are reporting the same concern and asking whether a cover is missing from the factory. My concern is that the exposed opening could allow rocks, road debris, or off-road obstacles to directly impact vital components at highway speed or when driving on rough/uneven surfaces. This may increase the risk of damage, fluid leaks, or sudden loss of power/steering if components are struck. It also appears inconsistent with typical under-engine protection on off-road-oriented trims. I am asking NHTSA to review whether this bumper configuration provides adequate protection for critical components on the 2025 F-150 tremor and whether a design change or shield/plate is needed for safety.

55 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

Driving on the highway at highway speeds, heard clanking then a loud bang, then vehicle would not longer respond to the accelerator so we coasted onto the median. We had the vehicle towed and found out from a Ford dealer that the rear axle had broken due to Ford's failure to repair under manufacturer recall number23s65 NHTSA recall number23v896 and that had caused damage to the rear differential. We were fortunate not to have been in or caused a significant accident. I had the vehicle at a Ford dealer in illinois in 2024, but the recall was not performed due to lack of parts. This incident happened thereafter, in November of 2025, and the vehicle has been off of the road at a Ford dealer in indiana since. Same story, no parts. Ford offers no timeline for repair, advising it could be 3 months, could be a year - it is indefinite. I recently was advised that there are 70,000 orders for the parts for this repair, and although I am on the "emergency off road list" that is still 15,000 orders long. Additionally, I had the vehicle in early in my ownership window for lags when the transmission shifted at certain times, it was checked and given the all clear, but - intermittently arose - given Ford representations I ignored it but never felt the delays were safe as it slowed vehicle responsiveness, albeit it slightly. I now see active litigation around these transmission issues in the F-150.

56 Equipment problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/23/2025

I was just stopped at a red light and took foot off pedal and the vehicle didn't restart. The instrument cluster showed a warning saying "auto startstop shift to p then restart". This has happened 4-5 times in the past month.

57 Equipment problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/21/2025

Our 2016 Ford F-150 experienced a sudden, forceful, uncommanded lane deviation while traveling at highway speed. Without warning or driver input, the vehicle abruptly jolted into the left lane. The steering was corrected and returned to our lane, but shortly afterward the truck again forcefully veered left. The movement felt comparable to being struck by another vehicle. There was no oncoming traffic at the time; however, had there been oncoming traffic, this would have resulted in a head-on collision. Weather conditions were calm, roads were dry, and visibility was clear. Prior to this incident, the vehicle exhibited no warning signs, including no pulling, steering issues, warning lights, or diagnostic codes. We immediately pulled over and had the vehicle towed to a mechanic who inspected the truck but could not replicate the issue. Although the vehicle was later driven approximately 120 miles home and short distances locally without recurrence, we believe it remains unsafe due to the unpredictable nature of this failure. A vehicle should never abruptly and forcefully change lanes without driver input. We have also experienced ongoing issues with the key becoming stuck in the ignition and intermittent starting problems, raising concerns about potential electrical or mechanical defects. This incident involved two uncommanded lane deviations under normal driving conditions with no identified cause or warnings. Due to the risk of serious injury or fatal collision, this remains an unresolved safety concern requiring investigation. We are requesting that NHTSA review this complaint, evaluate whether similar incidents indicate a pattern or defect involving the steering, transmission, or electronic control systems in the 2016 Ford F-150, and take appropriate action to protect public safety. Once we receive the NHTSA complaint number, we will also be submitting a formal complaint to Ford motor company requesting a thorough investigation and resolution.

Once transmission get at a hot temperature, the transmission have a hard time shifting and down shifting. I have taken my trust a transmission shop and I was told everything looks good and suggested I just get service. And I also was told that it could be a sensor problem. And the mechanic really didn't understand because I only have 147,000 miles and having transmission problems.

62 Equipment problem of the 2025 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

Hello. I need to open a formal escalation regarding a serious safety recall on my 2025 Ford F-150 lariat hybrid. The recall is - rear axle half-shaft and hub assembly replacement. I contacted two dealerships: metro Ford and pines Ford. Both told me to just wait without giving any estimated date for part availability. Both dealerships also refused to provide a loaner vehicle while the recall remains open, even though this is a safety-related issue. One advisor even told me to continue driving the truck despite the possibility of axle failure or wheel separation. That is unacceptable. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle. I already filed an official safety complaint with NHTSA because this recall has been ignored for months, and I was denied safe transportation. I need this case escalated immediately to a regional customer service manager. I am requesting: a clear timeline and eta for the part, a loaner vehicle until the repair is completed, or a repurchase/replacement review if the recall cannot be resolved in a reasonable timeframe. Please create a case number and assign it to a regional manager. Thank you.

63 Equipment problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

After entering my 2022 f150 lariat in a parking lot and starting it, I placed my iphone on the charger and I backed out of the spot I was in with my hazard lights turned on. I placed the vehicle in drive and turned off the hazard lights. As I pulled forward, a deafening sound came from the back seat of my truck that sounded like some kind of electric static with a popping noise. I reflexively pressed the break, ducked my head and tried to turn the volume knob down which did nothing. I pressed the stop/start button to shut the vehicle off and that did not change the sound coming from the door speakers. I jumped out of the truck because the sound was painful and proceeded to use a pair of pliers from a leatherman that I was carrying to disconnect the positive side of the battery; this too did nothing. At this point, I closed all of doors and searched the web on my phone to see if similar problems existed for other owners and if there was a fix. After about 8-10 minutes, the sound stopped. Based on what I read, this was a widely known issue on Ford f150 models between the years 2021-2024. Apparently, Ford has not responded to this yet. If this we’re to happen while driving, it’s would be shocking enough to cause a reflexive action that could put people in danger of a crash. I have video of this occurrence if needed.

64 Equipment problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

Vehicle: 2013 Ford F-150 supercrew cab component: rear defroster / rear window assembly summary of issue: rear window glass shattered while driving when rear defroster was in use. Detail of incident: on November 2, 2025, at approximately 5:00 am, I was driving my 2013 Ford F-150 supercrew cab at approximately 65 mph on the highway near mogadore, ohio. The vehicle had been operating for around 45 minutes without issue. The outside temperature was about 43°f. I had the rear window defroster and side mirror defrosters activated. Without any impact, warning lights, prior cracks, or outside interference, the rear glass pane directly behind the driver’s seat shattered suddenly and completely while I was driving. There were no vehicles near me, and I inspected the glass immediately afterward and found no evidence of anything striking the vehicle. The failure occurred instantaneously and with a loud sound, which created a risk of driver distraction and could have resulted in loss of control or injury from breaking glass. After researching, I found that this issue is widely reported by other owners of Ford F-150 models online, particularly involving the rear defroster causing excessive localized heating and thermal stress, which leads to spontaneous glass failure. Many owners report similar conditions: cold ambient temperature + rear defroster activated. The glass was replaced at my own expense, approximately $800. Receipts and photographs are available upon request. The issue was not covered by recall, warranty, or insurance. The problem has not been addressed by Ford despite multiple consumer reports. Safety concern: this defect presents a serious safety hazard because the sudden shattering is loud, distracting, and may send glass fragments into the cabin. It could easily lead to loss of vehicle control or injury to occupants. The failure occurred under normal and intended use of the rear defroster system. Request: I am submitting this report to request that nhts.

The rear camera view displays the warning "the camera is not available" on the screen. A blurry, distorted flickering image is displayed on the screen. This is the same thing I see with my 2016 Ford fusion, whose camera has been recalled. I'm not sure if this is an intermittent issue or not, but yesterday it was a persistent issue.

Customer states that the frame of the vehicle has been compromised by corrosion. The vehicle only has 163,844 miles on it and it has major holes in the frame. The chassis could break in half prohibiting the use of this vehicle on the roadway due to the safety of occupants. I advised the customer of this of which they bought a frame repair kit (pre-cut over frame c-channel steel) to weld onto the frame to support a longer lifespan. The truck is now safe for the roadway.

70 Equipment problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/25/2025

Vehicle: 2016 Ford F-150, 5. 0l v8, 6r80 automatic transmission mileage at time of failure: approximately 118,000 miles approximate date of occurrence: late 2025 (late October to early November) while driving at speeds above approximately 40 mph, the transmission would randomly and unexpectedly downshift, causing a severe and sudden jerking motion accompanied by extremely high engine rpms. After several seconds, the transmission would violently upshift back into the original gear. Most occurrences involved the transmission downshifting one or two gears; however, on multiple occasions it downshifted from 6th gear directly to 2nd gear while traveling at highway speeds. This caused the rear wheels to momentarily lock up, creating a dangerous loss of traction and loss of vehicle control. These events occurred frequently, including during short trips, and were not related to driver input, braking, or road conditions. During these incidents, the check engine light and wrench warning light would illuminate. Diagnostic trouble code p0720 (output shaft speed sensor circuit) was consistently stored. This pointed to a failure within the transmission molded lead frame, which houses the output shaft speed sensor and related circuitry. Due to the severity of the symptoms and the known issues with the Ford 6r80 transmission molded lead frame, I replaced the molded lead frame myself. After replacement, the erratic downshifting, wheel lockup, warning lights, and fault codes were completely resolved. The vehicle has operated normally since the repair. Ford has a documented history of issues related to molded lead frame failures in 6r80 transmissions, including erratic shifting and loss of speed sensor data. This failure presented a significant safety risk, particularly at highway speeds, due to sudden and uncontrollable deceleration and momentary wheel lockup.
