Equipment Problems of Ford F-150 - part 2

Previously had the vehicle diagnostic at georgia lina automotive into which I can provide the diagnostics later I was advised that it may be a internal issue dealing with the instrumental cluster a continuously battery warning flash on the dash panel. I was also told that it may be a electrical problem that even cause a fire internally which may damage the vehicle. I was told that out of pocket calls would be $1,956. 05 I reviewed all of the issues that are considered or recall and wiring was most definitely listed under recall versus warranty. I've most recently had the issue of the powertrain warranty for the transmission taken care of under the customer satisfactory program. Unfortunately they did not have this particular issue of the instrument cluster listed due to faulty wiring. Now there maybe many others that face the very same issue, for it seems to also affects the bluetooth connecting with phone under sync. And I am submitting this complaint in a better hope for for the review by your board or committee to conduct their own independent investigation which may makes the difference not only for me but once again for many others. I don't know if there's window. Past the 15 years if a vehicle has been previously purchased such as myself and there was a recall for this particular issue does the manufacturer allows the new owner a grace period as a courtesy which I believe would be appropriate as well as deemed it in the respect of hospitality. Iwe system failure, this has been worked on multiple times. Yes it's distracting when it grinds all the time putting everyone safety at risk. The only way it stops is to turn it to 4h which need to slow down for. Yes dealership and shops are aware. Total 4 wheel drive failure and warning on dash (little wrench).

Failed cdf drum and collapsed shift solenoid retainers. Causing erratic shifting, hard shifting, gear skipping, bouncing back and forth between gears, delayed gear engagement, and shuttering when shifting.

Rear window seal leaks on multiple different trucks needs to be recalled because most of us can not afford a 900$ back window. I’ve seen many people say the back windows are leaking in the lariats xl and xlts.

Ford is aware of an issue on the 2023 Ford f150 with pro power inverter. When the inverter turns on, the rf frequency emitted blocks the tire pressure sensors from sending their signal creating a fault. Dealers are recommending that owners replace their sensors rather than performing the fix. In many cases the vehicle is now out of warranty requiring customer to pay for the fix.

Rear, side and front camera system complete failure. No seemed cause to the issue. Cannot use any of the cameras during the driving session until a power cycle is completed around 30mi: dealer inspected once and power cycled it. System fixed. Around 650mi: I power cycled the system and reset it.

I was driving down the road going around 40 mph. No vehicles around me at all and no trees overhead when my sunroof suddenly exploded. No impact whatsoever occurred prior to the explosion, I just heard a loud boom, and glass started raining onto my sunroof liner. Thankfully it was closed but my young son was extremely frightened by the incident as was I.

Transmission downshifts and back tires locking up.

Faulty backup camera - resulted in backing incident and tailgate damage. Reported backup camera malfunction to NHTSA in 2022 and emailed photo of camera defect, but multiple news articles about f150's being recently recalled for backup camera issued. These recalls do not include 2016 models to recall for updates and need to be added. Approximate cost of truck tailgate replacement $1500.

2016 f150, 6r80 transmission - threw codes p0720 and p0722, dealer indicated known issue under recall 24s37, but my VIN is not included, but should be. Unexpected downshift to first gear, check engine light, truck enters "limp" mode, only allowing 3rd and 5th gear - real safety issue - especially if Ford knows it has a fix - although parts are in short supply (molded lead frame).

Vechicle shuts off during high speeds causing driver to loose control and driver and passengers to be tossed around even while constrained with seat belts.

The rear backup camera has malfunctioned and it is not working.

The transfer case is leaking, caused by galvanic corrosion. Ford used steel bolts on the aluminum transfer case housing which created the corrosion.

As front brake hose jounce bracket repair recall being incomplete is a immediate concern for reporting to any driver on the highway and roadway in transit. Please report for incomplete braking issue fixed, as is is detrimental on highway traffic at high mph.

On Sunday, [xxx], I was driving on a state highway in my 21 Ford f150 fx4 with my family. 67mph, 73 degrees sunny outside. The front portion of my moonroof/sunroof exploded, shooting glass shards internally all over my truck/passengers and externally into the bed of my truck, and into the boat I was towing. Multiple people had glass shards embedded in their skin. There were no other vehicles nearby, and there was no prior damage to the sunroof/moonroof of the vehicle. The truck gave no warning or signs of malfunction prior to the event. The sunroof was closed, and all windows in the vehicle were closed. On Monday morning ([xxx]), I took my truck to the local Ford service center, and they inspected it, shocked at the results. They filed a claim that Ford denied because the windows are not covered by my extended warranty. They wanted to charge me $ 4,000 for the repair/replacement of the glass and track. I have been on the phone with Ford protection and Ford customer service (Aug 6th, 2025), trying to get something resolved, and Ford continues to deny responsibility. I have a 2012 f150 that has an issue with its output shaft speed sensor, at random times my speedometer and odometer will quit working and my the transmission will make hard shift or won’t shift at all while driving.

Rear passenger window stopped working due to switch failure. Unsafe for passengers in rear as road debris and outdoor weather was able to get in. Issue was resolved by replacing master switch.

While driving there was a loud "boom" noise and the panoramic sunroof rear glass panel exploded. I was not driving under any overpasses, and no objects were kicked up on the roadway in front of me. Pieces of shattered glass fell down onto my two small children in the backseat who thankfully were not cut by the glass. Center section of the glass was blown out, and the surrounding glass was pushed outward indicating that the glass blew out from inside outward. After pulling over I observed two cracks running the length of each side of the glass near the edges, indicating possible stress cracks from expansion of the glass inside of the frame. This is a known issue by Ford motor company, with a current class action lawsuit regarding various Ford vehicles. The truck was taken to a dealership who denied a warranty claim, even given the circumstances regarding the incident.

The rearview backup camera on my 2016 Ford F-150 began malfunctioning around July/August 2025. At first, the image would flicker briefly when the truck was shifted into reverse, but it would return to normal after a few seconds or days. After about a week, the issue became constant — the display now stays completely blue whenever the vehicle is in reverse and no rear image is visible. This failure eliminates all rear visibility when backing up and creates a serious safety risk, especially in parking lots or residential areas where pedestrians, pets, or objects may be behind the vehicle. The problem matches the description of Ford’s current backup camera recalls (including 23s23 and 24s59), but my vehicle’s VIN does not appear to be included in those campaigns. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or independent service center, but I plan to have it evaluated. The backup camera component remains available for inspection upon request. There were no warning lights, messages, or other indicators prior to or during the failure. Based on reports from other Ford F-150 owners, this appears to be a widespread issue involving the camera or wiring harness that results in a blue or blank screen. I am submitting this complaint to document the failure and safety concern, and to request review for possible recall expansion to include affected 2016 F-150 models. Photos of the blue screen and failure condition are available and can be provided for review upon request.

The camera/ screen doesn’t always come on when you start the vehicle. Sometimes I start the truck and then put it in reverse but the camera does not display in the screen. At times the screen doesn’t turn on for several minutes after I’m driving.

Spontaneous shatter of the entire rear glass, outward, when shutting the rear door. There was no crack in the glass. The truck is still under full warranty but Ford will not even respond at this point. As you can see from the photos, the glass blew out backwards. A google search and forum search indicates there could be a recurrent issue with the Ford vehicle.

I was on the on-ramp and accelerated to get to freeway speed nothing crazy. The truck took off even with my foot off the pedal. I braked hard to avoid rear ending the vehicle in front. . Started slowing down took my foot off the brake and it did it again. . . Braked hard again, hit the hard shoulder then it went back to normal. Lucky it was a 5 lane freeway. . .

I was driving into a parking space and my 2024 Ford F-150 lightning had a sudden unintended acceleration, which caused vehicle to crash into the concrete block wall in front of the parking space.

Driving interstate and a wrench warning came up on dash screen. I knew that wasn’t good. Two local mechanics diagnosed as circuit a (transmission) needs replaced. Park light not illuminating and won’t even crank to start. I got it started , finally, and wrench came back on. Loud “thunk” noise when switching into reverse was advised not to drive until repaired as it is dangerous to me and others recall was issued for 10 pin and needs to recalled for 6 pin ASAP Ford is welcome. To check it out anytime as I just have it setting waiting on recall. I need a truck, please issue recall.

Back up camera stops working intermittently.

About 1 hour into a commute, I attempted to connect to a call while using the car play function of the sync system. Upon connection, the speakers blasted as loud as they could possibly go, a terrible pulsing static sounds that scared me and the passenger and almost caused us to have an accident. The volume knob was indicating 0 and would not move and I could not lower the volume of the terrible sound. I pulled over and tried to restart the car a few times, but the sound would not stop until I left the car off for about 10 minutes. I've not connected my phone via bluetooth or car play since for fear that the sound may return when I am not expecting it, startle me and cause an accident. Though I am not certain of the cause. After about 10 minutes of the sound, I also noticed that the speakers were getting hot and I could smell the electronics or wiring overheating. I have a video of the sound but the dealer could not replicate it.

I recently ought a 2022 Ford F-150 off of a private seller. It had a clean carfax when I bought it. About a month after I bought the truck, on July 24, 2025, the following warning lights appeared on my dash all on the same day. Blind spot assist not available, cross traffic assist not available, and reverse brake assist not available. Also, my drivers side window would not roll down, and my drivers side lock/unlock buttons would not work. There were not any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. So I took my truck into gary smith Ford in fort walton beach, FL. On July 25, 2025 and they came back with the file I have uploaded below with the diagnosis and estimate. Of course the warranty has just expired a few months ago. We tried to make a claim with our insurance company and that was denied. I have also reached out to Ford customer service and they refused to help in any way. We were also never offered a loaner vehicle and my truck has been at the dealership for three weeks now. I am currently active duty military and this is now effecting my ability to report for duty, and causing my leadership to question me. It is also effecting my family as we now only have one vehicle. As you can see in the link below, the estimate is quite high. And it is extremely frustrating that Ford has refused to help in any way, and will not provide any logical reason as to why except that the warranty is expired. Especially since this isn't my fault at all. Any help in rectifying this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Suddenly downshifting into low gear. Recall not being accepted by Ford. Please help.

Catalytic converter has failed prior to 80,000 miles. Ford has done updates, via wifi, to the system, but it has not helped. Parts are now on back order due to the demand for replacing bank 2 (driver side) converters.

Somehow my daughter engaged park assist. She put her foot on brake and with it still on the break truck began reversing and do not stop till we ran over a mailbox. We even tried to turn wheel.

The vehicle is consuming oil at a 1 quart per 1100 mile rate. I have had it tested at a Ford dealer. There is technical service bulletin (TSB) 19-2365 for the year, make and model but Ford isnt offering a repair. The repair is approximately $14,000. 00 that should not be the consumers responsibility. Please help get a recall issued.

Transmission makes a sudden hard down shift. . . . . And it always throwing codes . . . Well maintained but getting too expensive. . . . 2017 f150 ecoboost 3. 5. . . Jumped into lump mode while between 2 semi trucks and one one my side also. . . . I held down on the throttle so that it wouldn't stop in between the semis and finally had a chance to pull over. . . . Turn my vehicle off. . . It drove normal but now have another code. . . Possible misfire. . . . Cylinder 1 and 4. . . . Last month it was cylinder 3. . . I've talked with Ford on helping with the bill they said they don't do that. . . But offered me some other things that may be covered undered some other recall. . . . Every other month it's something. . . Ooo yeah, had cam phaser done also. . . . Out of pocket. . . Can't find the cam phaser bill but if you need it I can request a copy from the mechanic shop. . . . Lloyd 434-755-5522.

This is regarding Ford's known issue with their evaporator cited in TSB 22-2089. The evaporator caused a compressor to fail, which caused a power train failure notification in sync and on the phone app. The compressor is under warranty, but the evaporator is not, which causes a $3600 repair (parts and labor). According to the bulletin, the evaporator known issue is not considered a threat to life, even though it certainly is a threat to life to not have air conditioning in hotter states. The part is currently being replaced at our local dealership.

17 July 2025- vehicle did not start, instrument cluster blacked out, infotainment screen blacked out. Disconnected/reconnected battery myself everything worked. 21 July 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, disconnected/reconnected battery myself, everything worked, dealership still towed vehicle in to diagnose. Same day dealership said the battery was "a little low" so they put a small charge on it and everything checked out fine. They said when I disconnect/reconnect the battery the codes are reset. So I should hope that the issue does not happen again but if it does, don't disconnect/reconnect the battery. 25 July 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, drove straight to dealership where the service writer witnessed the issue and started a service file. Codes were pulled and in just the four days since it was last in the dealership there were multiple codes recorded (appx 40 over the four days). Diagnosis was a bad instrument cluster/computer module that is attached. It was replaced and vehicle returned 04 August 2025. 05 August 2025- instrument cluster blacked out, drove straight to the dealership, where service writer, service manager, and parts manager all witnessed the same issue. Started another service file. As of the writing of this information, 08 August 2025, the vehicle is still in the shop.
