1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/05/2025

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after the dealer had reprogrammed the pcm under NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train), the vehicle started to experience failures. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted to first gear unintendedly. The powertrain warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact resumed driving; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake lights, the hazard lights, the turn signal lights, and the infotainment system and the a/c system became inoperable after the recall repair. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure might be related to the electrical system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

Took vehicle to dealership to have recall 19v075 completed. Dealership informed me that Ford motor company will only replace the multi- frame part in the transmission that contains the oss sensor if the vehicle is not older than 10yrs and 150,000 miles. The service advisor at the dealership informed me that if they perform the pcm program update without the mechanical repair being done the intermittent downshift problem would get worse. The truck has downshifted while going down the highway at approximately 60mph and the abrupt downshift nearly caused me to loose control of the vehicle.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

While driving 70 mph on the highway my truck suddenly downshifted into first gear causing the truck to go into a skid. The skid was recovered so nobody was injured but if it were a wet day or pulling a trailer, I doubt it could have been saved. The speedometer quit working and a wrench showed on the dash. Upon restarting the truck both of those issues were resolved but the truck continued to downshift into first gear at highway speeds. I called my local Ford dealership, and they said there were no active recalls but that the pcm had already been reprogrammed. If the pcm had been reprogrammed, then this issue should not have happened unless there needs to be another update performed. They alerted me that there was a customer satisfaction program for the molded leadframe in the transmission that would cause this issue, but this is not a satisfaction issue it is a safety issue. If they replace the leadframe but there is never any change made to the way the transmission functions then when it eventually goes bad again the issue could come back, once again posing a major safety risk.

4 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/28/2025

Took in my vehicle to my local Ford dealership after I experineced sudden downshift of the transmission and getting stuck in 1st gear. I asked for a reantal vehicle or a loaner to which they said, it would depend whether or not there would be any pcm related codes that came back after connecting the car. According to them no codes came back, and explained to me that, that being the case that they would just need to reprogram my pcm. The next day I went and picked up my truck, and after just about roughly 7 miles into driving, I started experiencing sudden downshift again and my truck started slowing down rapidly almost causing an accident and getting rear ended. I was able to pull over and noticed this time my truck had gotten stuck in 4th gear. I was able to drive it back to the dealership and left it parked in the their parking lot as it was after hours at this point. The very next morning by 7:30am I was at their service desk explaining what had happened the night before after picking up my truck from them. They refused to give me any further service as they said that they had already completed the service related to the 24s37 recall, and that if I continued to experience issues, that it was a completly unrelated issue and if I wanted to get it diagnose and repaired that it would be out of pocket. After doing more reserach online, I came to find out that on some of this recall issues related to 24s37, in some cases the dealership would have to replace the entire lead frame which holds the transmission output shaft speed sensor which goes bad and causes the transmission to go crazy and thus the downshifting, and in other cases they don't have to replace this part. In my case, while there were no other codes that showed, they determined that only a reprogramming was necessary. However, given that I continue to experience the same sudden downshift issues, I suspect that it is a bad output shaft speed sensor which should be replaced under the current safety recall.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/23/2025

Ford f150 2. 7l ecoboost was running fine. Went to dealer for pcm recall and 3 days later check engine light came on. Went back to the dealer and they say I have a po430 code now and that I need a catalytic converter at the tune of $3000. Of course I am 8000 miles over the factory warranty of 80000 miles and the extended warranty I bought does not cover it. Seems not right. Is the any help with this issue? shouldn't Ford be responsible?.

6 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/10/2025

At around 61,000 miles my transmission started having a shuttering noise and had a harsh jerky shift from 3rd to 5th when vehicle was recently started up for the first time of the day. Multiple TSB's on Ford's website for this issue including the latest TSB 25-2301. It appears that the interior drum has failed which has been a known issue. Dealer states $6219. 87 to repair the transmission. Cdf TSB, replace the valve body, and reprogram the pcm.

7 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/14/2025

I was driving eastbound on city streets at 30 mph with my three young children when the vehicle exhibited abnormal shifting behavior, searching for a gear. Despite being in 9th gear, traveling the speed limit, and lightly pressing the pedal, the vehicle experienced a rough downshift and lost power while going up a small incline over a freeway overpass. I turned on my hazards and attempted to move over to avoid an accident, which I successfully did. The vehicle regained power after restarting with rough shifts in the lower gears. I put the vehicle in manual mode to better control the shifting, though it remained incredibly rough. The kids were shaken and refuse to drive in the vehicle. Since then, I’ve only driven it to have it serviced at our local Ford dealer. They stated everything was fine after the transmission fluid exchange and battery replacement. However, the vehicle still exhibited rough shifting behavior on the short drive home. A friend pulled codes from the tcm/ecu and found p0734-00, p07f7-00, and p2535-00. He assisted, backed up the ecu/tcm, re-flashed the onboard ecu/tcm with the latest mappings, and reset the adaptive learning. He then drove the vehicle with diagnostics equipment connected and recorded the driving data, finding that the transmission was losing pressure and the shift behavior was slightly better but still rough shifts between 2-4 and 7-8 gear. Once the drive/test was completed, codes p0761 and p2702 appeared on the reader. He explained that the issues pointed to a cdf drum defect, which has several TSB’s published. He advised me to stop driving it and reach out to the dealer or local qualified shop. I was quoted between $7,677-$8,978 to replace trans with reman unit. Vehicle has been maintained with all records on file and is in nearly perfect condition with exception of the transmission due to the cdf defect. I would love to see action taken to prevent injury/death as I could see that occurring at some point.

8 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/01/2025

Safety recall 19s07 - (19s19) Ford motor covered 19s07 but not 19s19. Software update does not prevent downshifting into 1st on highway. The issue is that 19s19 is truly the root cause of issue, and software was a low cost ineffective countermeasure to safety issue. Covered certain 2011–2013 Ford F-150s with 6r80 transmissions for sudden transmission downshift due to output shaft speed (oss) sensor faults. Included pcm programming and diagnostic checks. Nhtsa this vehicle still exhibits down shifting at high speed (very scary), speed sensor malfunction, air bag disengagement while occurring. After software update transmission shifts produce poor gas mileage which violates epa emissions regulations of mpg of vehicle when purchased.

9 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/29/2025

After Ford performed a pcm (powertrain control module) reprogramming recall on 16 July 2025, the vehicle began experiencing repeated engine misfires, loss of power, and engine warning lights. The condition progressively worsened, leading to a leaking fuel injector, an egr valve that stuck open, and eventual internal engine damage requiring full engine replacement. These failures involve pcm-controlled systems (ignition timing, fuel injection, and exhaust gas recirculation) and occurred shortly after the recall calibration. The issue has been confirmed and documented by an authorized Ford dealer. The truck has become unsafe to drive due to stalling and shuddering at highway speeds, which could pose a risk of loss of vehicle control. Warning lamps and a wrench icon appeared intermittently before the engine shuttering and loss of power. The vehicle and all repair documentation are available for inspection upon request.

10 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

On 4 occasions, my f150 has went in reverse when transmission was in the drive position. The truck would travel backwards 3 to 5 feet before shutting off. The first time happened at a stop sign. Nearly backed into another vehicle. Pcm was reprogrammed. 2nd time occurred on leaving my driveway. Ford replaced an abs module. 3rd time happened in front of my house. Ford found bent pin on pcm. 4th time occurred at waste facility after unloading trash. Vehicle went in reverse when transmission was in drive. Vehicle went backwards at least 3 feet. Nearly backed into a Ford f250 and pinned driver of vehicle between the 2 trucks. Ford has changed a relay. I have contacted Ford by chat, phone, and email. The case manager refuses to communicate with me about this matter.

11 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/17/2025

My 2018 Ford F-150 3. 5l ecoboost experienced cam phaser rattle/failure at 72,000 miles. The vehicle never received the 21b10 pcm reflash, and Ford customer care has denied any goodwill assistance. The cam phaser noise is a known widespread defect covered under customer satisfaction program 21n03. I had the repair done out-of-pocket at a Ford dealership because I was fearful that catastrophic engine damage would occur if left un-fixed, leaving me stuck in the roadway. I request that this be logged for investigation and future regulatory review.

12 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/14/2025

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the odometer failed to function as intended. The speedometer went from 40 to zero and failed to provide the correct speed. In addition, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The “wrench” warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, and pulled the key out of the ignition, opened and closed the door, and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle was reset. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the output speed sensor circuit had no signal and the pcm and valve body lead frame failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19v075000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but denied assistance in covering the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 101,500.

13 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/25/2025

I was driving about 75mph when my 2014 Ford f150 suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 2nd. As a result of the unexpected downshift, my body was pushed into the steering wheel, and the rear end of the truck slid sideways as it slowed down to 65mph. The truck had a loss of power and I couldn’t accelerate. When I pulled over on the side of the highway, I used my code reader to read the codes that came up. The codes that came up pointed to powertrain control module. When I looked at the pcm, it said p0720, output speed sensor. I looked up the issue online and found that there is an open recall on the 2014 Ford f150 with the 6r80 transmission, and the recall is the issue I stated above. I went to two different Ford dealerships and they said that my VIN isn’t listed under the recall so they won’t fix it. This is the manufacturers issue and they won’t fix it. The truck is unsafe to drive now.

14 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

Component: 6r80 transmission lead frame safety: driving at 70mph on the interstate on 07/23/2025 and vehicle violently downshifted while in cruise control. Rear tires locked briefly. Driver and passenger were restrained by the seat belts or there would have been a loss of control. I was able to pull to the side of the road. Reproduced: this is the third time in a year that this has happened. Independent shop is scheduled to inspect. Dtc codes p061a and p0722 are logged in the pcm. Warning lamp: after the incident, an amber wrench icon was displayed. Still displayed after restart. Disappeared after 2nd start.

15 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/22/2025

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle was jerking abnormally. The contact stated that the transmission was shifting hard. The contact stated that while driving with the transmission shifting from 9th gear to 10th gear, the transmission shifted to neutral, and the vehicle started to coast. The contact stated that the wrench symbol was displayed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on five occasions, where it was diagnosed and determined that the tcm needed to be reprogrammed, and the transmission needed to be replaced or rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed there was no recall coverage for the failure, but would attempt to assist with the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

16 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2024 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

The cause of the accident was due to an extremely hard downshift, then extremely hard upshift. Between the speeds of 25-37 mph the truck will do a hard downshift with a 1-3 second loss of power delay. When it finally grabs gear it takes off like a rocket before grabbing the next gear and back to what feels normal. This is something I never experienced in my 2022 Ford f150 with the same motor and transmission. This particular day, I had pulled off to the side of the road to let the mail carrier go through the narrow section of the road first. This particular section, there is a huge tree right next to the road (approximately 12"-14" off the road). After the mail carrier passed, I started to speed up. Upon hitting 34 mph, the transmission shifted hard, pulled me into the ditch, and by the time the gear grabbed, and I had power to control, I hit the tree. As a habit, since this issue happened numerous times, I looked at the speedometer and just prior to impact I was at 43 mph. The transmission is not the only issue that I have been having with this vehicle. There has been a fuel consumption issue, a hard start issue (does not matter time of day), as well as a grinding issue at the front right wheel. This truck is equipped with a 36-gallon fuel tank. At the city driving mpg and a 34-gallon fill-up, I should have been getting 544 miles/tank. However, that was not the case as I was only getting 440-447 miles/tank (did not matter whether normal, eco, or sport mode driving). Each fill up was a 24-28 gallon fill-up leaving 8-10 gallons unaccounted for. A pcm update was done but it only got me to 510 miles with a 30-gallon fill-up. Each complaint I made with the transmission went ignored with me being told "this is normal for the 10 speeds. You will just need to learn to deal with it. " after the pcm update with no true fix, I was told "drive it to zero mte and calculate from there how far you can drive, then you know. " this is a horrible and extremely unsafe answer to give.

17 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2020 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/14/2025

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was locked and parked on the street with the engine running and unoccupied, the transmission erroneously shifted into gear and the vehicle drove forward. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into another parked vehicle and landscaping and missed crashing into another vehicle that was driving in the opposite direction. The contact expressed concerns because no one was present inside the vehicle during the failure. The contact stated that the police department was contacted but no officers showed up on scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure was not determined. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the pcm needed to be reprogrammed; however, the vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

18 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/09/2025

After receiving a call from mullinax Ford in mobile, al regarding a recall for our 2014 Ford F-150 raptor (recall related to unexpected downshifting), I brought the vehicle to my workplace on [xxx], where a technician performed the software update (flash) on-site. Before the update, the vehicle was functioning without issue. That same evening while driving home, I experienced extremely hard downshifting, initially in lower gears, and worsening over time. The truck now violently downshifts, primarily into 4th gear, and sounds as if the transmission is slipping. I drove the truck again the next morning and the symptoms persisted. I contacted zachary, the original representative at the dealership, who said it may be part of the “relearning” process. My husband drove it a week later after returning from a business trip and he confirmed the issue. It has progressively worsened to the point of being undrivable. We returned the truck to mullinax Ford for evaluation on 7/29/25, and they claimed the failure was unrelated to the update and that the transmission needed to be replaced, at our expense. The truck unpredictably drops gears at high speeds, creating a sudden jerk that could lead to loss of control. This poses a serious safety risk to both the driver and others on the road. The dealership performed the recall software update and later diagnosed the truck with transmission failure, but is denying responsibility. No other third-party inspections have been done at this time. There were no warning lights or issues prior to the update. The issue started immediately after the recall software was flashed and worsened over the next 24–48 hours. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection. We believe the issue stems directly from the pcm/tcm update applied under recall conditions. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

19 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2018 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

Transmission: sluggish upshift (vehicle feels like it is being pulled backwards), hard shifting and sudden downshifts at speeds in excess of 35 mph. Narrowly avoided getting rear-ended during rush hour traffic. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership due to being afraid to drive it. No warning lamps, but symptoms started about two weeks ago but were very intermittent and easily resolved with a tcm relearn. Symptoms are similar to the known issues with the Ford 10r80 cdf drum issues. I will be having the vehicle towed to the service center next week for a diagnosis and way forward. On 18 June 2025, I was traveling home from work. I stopped at a red light and waited for the light to turn green. The light turns green and the line of cars (roughly 20, with the lead car approximately 5 ahead of me) begin to proceed through the light. As I passed through the intersection and began to pick up speed, my vehicle shifted into 6th gear at about 40 mph. Less than 2 seconds after shifting into 6th, it shifted down to 1st gear, lost all power to the drivetrain, and almost caused a collision between me and the car behind me in a busy residential area. Pressing the accelerator only revved the engine. I turned my hazards on and shifted the vehicle to manual and was able to get it going again but the same symptoms happened at my next stop and have persisted since.

20 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

The faulty output shaft speed sensor (oss) causes a signal loss between the sensor and the powertrain control module (pcm), leading to a sudden downshift into first gear, regardless of the vehicle's speed. This sudden downshift can cause the rear tires to slide, potentially leading to a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash. There is already a recall for the 2014 models and my 2013 is having the exact same issue. This has been an ongoing problem since I bought the truck in December 2024.

21 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from a higher gear into a lower gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and dtc: p0721 (output speed sensor circuit range/performance; tcm)was displayed. The contact was informed that the transmission leadframe was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

22 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2016 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/10/2025

Truck suddenly downshift into 5th gear and bucked for second starting out to get up to 60 mph wrench light comes on transmission at 60 mph. 23 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/03/2025

The component that failed was the transmission and the power train control module. The vehicle and component is available for inspection. My self and passenger were at risk while pulling out onto the highway and the vehicle had a sudden transmission downshift. This disabled the vehicle in the highway while merging into oncoming traffic. The problem has been confirmed by the Ford dealership and a repair estimate has been provided for the transmission and pcm (powertrain control module) the vehicle component has been inspected by Ford the manufacturer. There were no warning symbols, lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to they failure.

24 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/22/2025

Safety issue. Engine code p0720 which means the output speed sensor sends erratic signals to the power train module or pcm. There is a recall on this truck for this exact thing. What happens is the gears in the transmission don’t shift smoothly and what happened to me was I was driving 70mph all of sudden the truck made a loud bang and I was in 6th gear and the truck went from being in 6th gear just dropped into 1st gear and at 70mph it’s pretty frightening. The brakes locked up and I managed to stay calm and regain control of the vehicle and pull over. Immediately I seen a big yellow wrench on the dashboard along with the check engine light so I turned it off and restarted it thinking maybe the computer will reset. The truck is literally stuck in like 3rd or 4th gear because I can’t go past 40 mph. I was only 5 mins away from home as soon as I got home I use my code machine and the engine code I received was p0720. I contacted my larsen Ford in lakewood NJ they informed me about the recall but told me that they’re not paying for any repairs because it’s past 10 years. It ended in January of 2024. I didn’t buy the truck until July 2024 I had no idea about any recalls. I’m not the original owner. I just assumed since it’s a safety issue that the manufacturer must be responsible for all repairs regardless of how long it’s been. I bought the truck with only 38,000 miles on it presently it has 40,000 miles on it now but I don’t think it’s fair that I have to pay for everything to be fixed myself.

25 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2022 Ford F-150

26 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/21/2025

I am the current owner of a 2013 Ford F-150 king ranch, which I purchased in 4-2019. In 2025, the truck began to experience sudden, harsh downshifting while driving, sometimes dropping from 6th gear to 1st without warning. This created a major safety hazard, especially at higher speeds. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by greenbrier Ford in lewisburg, west virginia. They identified the issue as related to the transmission's oss sensor and pcm programming—consistent with Ford’s csp 19n01 and TSB 16-0008. The repair was completed at my expense because I was never notified of the csp, even though I was the legal owner at the time. Before the failure, I experienced intermittent rough shifting and hesitation, but during the major incident, a “wrench” light appeared on the dashboard, and I suddenly lost power while driving. This happened without warning and created a serious safety risk. That’s what prompted me to take the vehicle in for service, where the issue was linked to the transmission and matched symptoms covered under Ford csp 19n01. The issue was confirmed by greenbrier Ford in lewisburg, west virginia, where all my mechanical work has been performed since I purchased the vehicle from them in 2019. I would like a refund as this is related to a dangerous recall.

27 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/21/2025

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 30-35 mph, the vehicle jerked while in first gear and briefly lost motive power before slamming into gear. The gear shifter notification disappeared. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted; however, the vehicle was driving rough before downshifting to first gear. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the transmission lead frame was damaged, which short-circuited the pcm (power train module) and caused the transmission to fail. The contact was advised that the pcm and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

28 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/18/2025

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and had downshifted independently to first gear and nearly stopped due to the rear wheels almost locking up. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and regained normal transmission operation. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who advised the contact that the pcm software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was downshifting unexpectedly but was only downshifting to third gear. The contact stated that the "wrench" symbol was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer and dtc p0722 (output shaft speed sensor, no signal) was retrieved. The contact was advised that the leadframe on the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact informed the dealer that he had received a letter for NHTSA campaign number: 24v444000 (power train); however, the contact was informed by the dealer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was informed of the issue and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.

30 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2019 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/21/2025

I've been having problems with the power train on the f150 10 speed transmission. There are times that the vehicle loses power and the engine speed drops to nearly zero. This has happened on several occasions while I'm driving into an intersection, or ongoing lane. The unexpected loss of acceleration is extremely dangerous as the oncoming vehicles aren't expecting my vehicle to come to a stop. I believe Ford is aware of this problem, yet nothing is being done to alleviate the issue. It can be an expensive repair. They would have to replace the pcm module and reprogram the vehicles electronics. They have offered up alternative fixes, but none of them seem to work and the alternative fix can be expensive to the consumer. The problem started far in advance before my warranty ran out and yet Ford would deny the problem and I couldn't get any Ford dealer to remedy the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

After recall 24s37 was performed on my Ford F-150 to address potential sudden downshifting to first gear, my truck began experiencing serious transmission issues that had never occurred prior. The recall required pcm reprogramming, and immediately afterward, the vehicle started hard shifting and unexpectedly downshifting at highway speeds (one example 5th to 3rd gear and also while passing or decelerating). This was alarming and unsafe. Before this recall, the transmission operated perfectly with no symptoms, warning lights, or signs of malfunction. I returned the truck to the Ford dealership that performed the recall. Their road test confirmed the issue, and they diagnosed it as damage to the overdrive clutch. However, they stated the damage was “likely present before” the recall work—despite no prior symptoms—and recommended full transmission replacement at a cost of nearly $10,000, which I declined. The issue clearly began immediately after Ford’s recall remedy and fits the exact risk the recall was supposed to prevent. The vehicle is available for inspection. I believe the recall work either caused or triggered the failure and that Ford should be held accountable.
