Recall number: 23s65 issued 12-22-2023 parts are still not available. Ford company does not seem to be making any effort at all to fix this safety recall. Dealers I've contacted have no idea when parts will be available. This is unacceptable.

I was driving and came to a stop at a light, let off the brake and then my truck came up with a wrench light and wouldn’t read the transmission gear, cab tool pulled these codes u0402, p0706, p0707, p1702, p1921 all pointing at towards the 6r80 transmission for this lead frame/sensor failure. It will work after the truck sits off for a little while but once you start driving for a few miles it goes back into limp mode. I’ve seen you are looking into this as a recall an would love to see others get help with this issue before it’s to late like me now unfortunately.

2 years ago I replaced my valve body in my 6r80 transmission due to constant down shifts to first gear at 45 miles an hour and rear wheel lock up with no codes shown. Replacing that part fixed my issue up until today, 2 April 2026, as I was driving to work today and the same thing happened again. Approximately 45 mph my transmission downshifted to first gear, violently rev'd my engine to 6500 rpms and locked my rear wheels briefly.
The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers : 25v512000 (power train) and 26v104000 (electrical system, exterior lighting); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear axle shaft assemblies had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available for the repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The failure mileage was unavailable.
Hard shifting, will enter limp mode in 2nd and 4th gear (usually will down shift to that gear). The check engine light will flash and I have to pull over, stop, shut off my vehicle and then restart it to resolve. I have already spent roughly $4,000 in repairs and still have continued issues. These issues started at approximately 100,000 miles, transmission was rebuilt at 110,000. The current mileage is 139,400.
Transmission is shuddering at speeds up to 60mph. Can cause the vehicle to jump repeatedly. I am worried at such a high speed the vehicle could lose control and put my life and others at risk. Also can shift very hard when coming to a stop so much so that it feels like I’ve been hit from behind by another vehicle. I’ve never had any type of messages or warning lights prior or post. After searching up issue I have found hundreds and hundreds of other vehicle owners with the 10r80 transmission to be experiencing similar problems. Ford has acknowledged the problem and have a fix but at a high cost. Some people are not able to repair vehicles at that moment could be putting themselves and other at risk of death or injury.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 mph, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted into low gear. The vehicle lost motive power, the brakes locked up, and the transmission failed to shift out of gear. The transmission shifted to neutral and was shifting roughly and erratically. The driver shifted to manual mode and was able to continue driving in limp mode. There was smoke coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA action number: ea26001 (power train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who confirmed that there was no warranty coverage for the failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the warranty status, opened a case, but declined further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

I own a 2023 Ford F-150 lightning, with 48,200 miles and 2. 5 years of ownership. Recently, my truck began displaying a “powertrain / reduced power” warning while driving, and the air conditioning stopped producing cold air. The dealer scanned the vehicle and found dtc p0534 – a/c system charge loss. Further diagnostics indicated that multiple vehicle modules may require reprogramming and software updates. The dealer stated they need to evacuate and recharge the ac system, add dye, and remove front trunk components to locate the leak. This ac system is part of the high-voltage battery and edrive thermal management system, meaning that failure of the hvac system affects battery cooling and powertrain performance. Loss of cabin cooling is a symptom of a thermal system malfunction, which can lead to battery overheating, powertrain derating, and reduced driving performance. The combination of unexpected reduced power and loss of cabin cooling creates a safety risk, particularly during highway driving, merging, or situations requiring acceleration. These failures occurred at relatively low mileage and are associated with the high-voltage ev system, which should be functioning properly to ensure safe vehicle operation. I am submitting this complaint to report a potential safety defect with the 2023 Ford F-150 lightning affecting the battery thermal management, high-voltage ac system, and edrive components, which can result in sudden power loss and compromised vehicle safety.
Transmission will down shift randomly or not even engage when trying to accelerate. It shudders or harshly shifts.

My truck started shifting gears hard while driving and wouldn’t go into reverse when parking. Performance transmission shop is telling me I need a new transmission. Getting multiple error codes.
Sudden and harsh downshifts happening at speeds above 40mph in normal drivign conditions. The vehicle now shudders while crusing and clunks into and out of gears. The 6r80 transmission now feels like it is slipping when giving the vehicle gas from a standstill.
Transmission will jump out of gear. Transmission will shift from 1st to 5th skipping all other gears. Transmission will stay in a high gear even when I’m stopped. Transmission will get confused on what gear to be in and jump all around. Sometimes the transmission will get stuck in limp mode in fifth gear and I will not be able to move until a loud bang when it shifts back into first. These problems will occur every few weeks and has been going on for more then a year. Sometimes going a month or two without any issues.
"my 2015 Ford F-150 is experiencing an intermittent, complete loss of the output shaft speed (oss) signal within the 6r80 transmission lead frame. While driving at speed, the speedometer suddenly drops to zero, the 'wrench' light illuminates, and the vehicle performs an unintended, harsh downshift into a lower gear (limp mode/3rd gear). This creates an immediate safety hazard of rear-wheel lockup or a sudden loss of acceleration in traffic. I took my vehicle to a local repair shop where they could not duplicate the fault. I then called my local Ford dealer who informed me unless it would duplicate the fault or show a code they could not repair the vehicle due to it being against warranty policy.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the vehicle lunged into first and second gear. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 50,434.

I contacted the local Ford dealer, seekins in fairbanks alaska. The dealership wanted to make an appointment to address the recalls next December -- this April 2026. What's the point of a safety recall if they won't timely address them?.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v896000 (power train) and 26v104000 (electrical system, exterior lighting); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact was informed that parts needed to be ordered and was later informed that parts were on back order. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Vehicle unexpectedly down shifting while driving causing vechile to jerk. After parking truck, truck presents a no start condition and unlit gear selector lights. While driving truck will go in and out of limp mode. I have scheduled a appointment to bring the truck in for a diagnostic test 03/31/2026.
Vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly downshifts to first gear when driving at highway speed causing quick reduction in speed and control. No warning displays. Vehicle had also gone into limp mode about 3 months prior displaying wrench warning sign. In both cases vehicle ran fine after stopping and restarting.

Two of my catalytic converters have failed twice. The first time was at the end of January 2024, the second time was at the end of March 2026. All regular maintenance on the vehicle has been completed at a Ford dealership. The only explanation I have received for the failure of the catalytic converters was "the parts were defective. " I have owned five Ford trucks in my lifetime and this is the first time the catalytic converters have failed, and they have failed twice on a five year old truck. This is, however, the first hybrid truck I have ever owned. Perhaps there is a defect in the design of the motor that the general public may not be aware of? hopefully you can look into this situation to prevent someone else from going through the drama that I'm having to deal with. Lightening has already struck twice and I'm just praying that it will strike the third time for me before the two year warranty runs out on these catalytic converters that were just installed in my truck.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the transmission abruptly downshifted from 6th gear to 1st gear, and the vehicle jerked and pulled to the right. No warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and offered to perform a diagnostic test, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 19v433000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph on the highway, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 5th gear to 1st gear, and the rear wheels locked, and the vehicle slid. The vehicle then went into limp mode but was still drivable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000.
While driving at highway speed, in traffic, the transmission down-shifted without warning almost causing me to lose control and almost rear ended by another vehicle. The vehicle then lost power and would barely make it uphill. After parking safely and shutting it off, the check engine light came on and it would not crank and would not show what gear it was in. According to the Ford dealer, where I had it towed for repair, it suffered a lead frame failure and pcm failure and cost over $2300. 00 to repair plus a $240. 00 tow bill.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v512000 (power train). The contact stated that while making a left turn, there was a loud popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The accelerator pedal was depressed, and there was a grinding sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle rolled to a stop on the side of the road. The vehicle was shifted into park(p), and the vehicle was inspected. The vehicle was towed to the workplace and then towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear hub bolt had fractured from the axle, and the splines were ground off the hub. The contact was informed that the rear driveshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
I was on the freeway in eastern colorado going 75mph which is the speed limit. Luckily nobody was behind me. My truck went from 6th gear to 1st out of nowhere and I didn't know what to do, very fast deceleration and I almost lost control. I was able to manually shift with the buttons on the gear shifter back up to 6th gear. Recently on the freeway it's been acting awkward and not shifting out of 4th gear.
Harsh shifting from failing clutch drum.

While driving on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden hard jerk followed by erratic shifting between gears. The transmission temperature rapidly increased (over 219°f), and transmission fluid began leaking. The vehicle became unsafe to drive and had to be pulled over. This vehicle is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission (10r80), which has widespread reports of failure, harsh shifting, and overheating. The failure created a dangerous situation as I was stranded on the side of the road with my children.
Rear axle bolt fell off and then car stopped being able to move. Axle spins no movement. I was driving while this was happening on a very busy road. . Thankfully I was able to stop in the middle of the road but not able to pull over. Had to push the car out of a busy road. Took truck to dealership and they stated there was no fix and that they shouldn’t give the car back but they did. Then the truck broke down 6 months later. No one has checked on it and there were no lights on dash telling me there was an active issue other than me knowing there was an active recall.
I've had the transmission replaced under Fordprotect warranty and subsequently another torque converter and subsequent to that, a new program installed to repair low rpm shudder. Under mild acceleration at interstate speeds (65 to 75 mph) it now hunts for gears with random upshifts and downshifts while failing to maintain or increase speed which constitutes a safety hazard.
My transmission unexpectedly jumps gears and down shifts. My car just stopped getting any sort of power on the highway. All this with my children in the car. I was able to pull over safely, but it was extremely scary. I put the truck in park and then put it in drive and it started driving again. My Ford f150 has under 80,000 miles on it. In my opinion this is a huge safety concern. A wrench popped up on my dash indicating that service was needed, but it has since gone away.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-150. The contact discovered a nail in the rear passenger side tire and the vehicle was driven to the local mechanic. While inspecting the tire, the mechanic also discovered that the wheel end hub bolt in the rear axle had fractured. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 23v896000 (power train); but the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
I’ve had the transmission replaced along with the torque converter when both failed less than a year ago. The transmission and the torque converter are now doing the same thing it was doing prior to the replacement. The transmission slips in 4th, 7th and 8th gears. The torque converter whines loudly. Ford will not fix the issues with these transmissions without a hefty out of pocket fee. It’s become very well known that all of these 10r80 engines/transmissions are a major problem that Ford is not remedying. If this transmission gives out when I’m on the interstate it’s going to cause a major wreck. I live in the mountains, so a bad transmission can quickly turn into a deadly accident. These transmissions need a permanent fix, not for us owners to continue paying thousands of dollars for replacements or rebuilds. This is Fords problem.
