Transmission cooling line going through radiator failed causing coolant to mix with transmission fluid. Resulting in transmission failure. Transmission had to be entirely rebuilt and radiator also had to be replaced. This occurred at highway speed.

Noticed leakage under front left tire. All transmission fluid had leaked out. Transmission oil line rusted through. Had previous leakage which I repaired with a piece of high pressure line. Checked metal lines of transmission oil cooling system and found numerous areas rusted out and ready to burst. Had truck towed to dealer to replace cooling system lines. Was told corrosion is a common problem with the lines on f150. Can't understand why if this is a common problem Ford does not notify owners about possible preventive action to deal with the corrosion or use non-corrosion materials for pressure lines.
Removed and installed transmission line (filler pipe where you put oil in rusting through) installed transmission dipstick tube. 06/22/2005. Removed and installed transmission filter, transmission flush 08/30/2005. On 02/08/2006 removed transmission, rebuild transmission, installed transmission, flushed transmission cooler. This was caused by the filler pipe(oil input) rusting and letting water into the system. It should not have happened for a 1999 Ford pickup F-150 with 65000 miles, no matter how old or new it was. I have always had Ford trucks or cars and drove them for thousands of miles without the amount of problems I have had with this one, there is a noise in the rear end that I am watching now. . . . . .

I started up my truck in my driveway and as I put the truck in drive ii noticed a slight slippage in my transmission, I didn't think too much of it because at the time the temperature outside was about 10 degrees and I assumed it was because of the extreme cold. As I traveled approx. 1/2 mile I noticed as I was accelarating that the truck seemed to not want to go, I was able to nurse it another 1/2 mile to my mothers house where I discovered that the hose popped off near the radiator and poored out transmission fluid. I put the hose back on and tightened it back up and was able to put 6 qts of transmission fluid back in. This seemed to correct the problem and I thought that all was okay, but, I was wrong! on Jan. 8th ,2001 I noticed that as my wife and I were out that it was beginning to catch hard when I was starting out from a dead stop. Well by the time I got home which was 10 to 15 minutes later I stopped by my mailbox and I was trying to edge up closer and it would not go forward, but I noticed that I could go backwards with no problem. Well I had to have it towed to a transmission shop and he told me that I probably burned out the "bands" in the transmission and it could cost me anywhere between 800 to 1700 dollars for repair depending on how many were burned out. Thats where I,m at now and is there anything I can do to get Ford to help me, ha,ha!.
