Truck made rumbling/grinding noise from rear-right bedside area, then while approaching a stop sign, an attempt to slow+stop the truck was made, but the pedal went straight to the floor and vehicle proceded through intersection, after pulling into safe spot, brakes started functioning correctly again. A few hours later braking completely failed. Truck is currently sitting until we can have a diagnosis (and repair) done. . .

The rear brake calipers seized up causing grinding noises and excessive wear of pads and rotors in a very short amount of time. Gas mileage was also greatly reduced as brakes were being applied while driving. Ford replaced the effected caliper but cannot guarantee that the other 3 will not do the same thing saying it was a faulty part raising concern that they will go out after my warranty on a one year old truck expires in the next few months leaving me responsible for replacing the faulty parts out of pocket.

I was on the highway and the hill start assist/traction control lights started coming on. A few hundred miles later, more dash lights started flashing and then all dash lights went off and the truck lost all power. I could no longer accelerate. After a moment, it started working again. After a few more miles, it did it again, and this time when it powered down, the abs break system went on and created a terrible grinding noise and brought me to a stop on the side of the highway. I limped it on the side of the highway, trying to find an exit, and the truck repeatedly did the lights flashing/power down/breaks applied several more times at low speed. The nearest exit was about 10 miles, so I had to continue to do this for some time. Once I was at an exit, I disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes. When I re-connected the battery and started the truck, everything seemed fine, but now the check engine light was on. I decided to just risk it and keep driving, so that I could get home. About 100 miles later it started doing the same thing again. I was close enough to home to get off the highway and take back roads home. It did it a few more times and then quit doing it. This was a very dangerous situation, as my truck basically stopped while I was on the highway going 70 mph, and could have caused a serious accident, and left me no option but to either be broken down on the side of the highway or drive at very low speeds on the shoulder. The Ford dealer that I took the truck to told me that they can't replicate the issue and all diagnostics come back clean, so they are not able to fix anything. Others online that have had the same/similar issue have said that Ford said that it is a damaged throttle body that needs to be replaced, but the dealership that I went to did not suggest that as the cause.

Upon first starting the vehicle and putting it into reverse, the brake pedal becomes hard/stiff causing the vehicle to continue in reverse, even when increasing the effort in an attempt to stop the vehicle completely. At this time, a loud grinding noise can be heard as the vehicle fails to stop and continues to slide backwards down the driveway or parking lot. This happens in the morning when I leave for work, as well as when I leave the work parking lot. I live in a suburb surrounded by young kids and people out walking their dogs in the morning. It is extremely dangerous for me to back my vehicle out of my garage not knowing if there is traffic or pedestrians until I am completely outside the garage, at which time it is too late to stop the vehicle due to the malfunction where the truck continues to slide even after I push the brakes as hard as possible in an attempt to stop the truck from reversing. When investigating the problem, I discovered there has been a reported problem with 2011-2012 Ford F-150 pickup trucks with the issue as the 'brake vacuum pump failure'. When contacting several Ford dealers, my husband and I were informed that there has been a recall, but the recall was not specific to our VIN number as it was made in a different area; therefore, they will not pay for it. One Ford dealer associate was very rude about our situation as well. I should not have to be fearful every morning I leave for work that a small child may be crossing the sidewalk by my driveway when my vehicle's brakes malfunction, and neither should anyone else who is having similar problems but cannot receive the repairs due to having the incorrect VIN number, simply because our vehicle was not at the same location as the others.
2012 Ford F-150 ecoboost came off warranty in April, on July 2nd I started the truck, put it in gear (drive), and had no brakes. There was a grinding noise as if the abs was trying to engage. I had to practically stand on the brake pedal to stop the truck and put it back in park. Pumped the brakes a few times and tried it again same thing. I shut off the engine, turned it back on, and let it warm up a few minutes. Now it was ok. From then on when the truck started cold it has done this on a regular basis. Good thing I found this before I reached any speed, and while there was no cargo in the bed to add inertia. I did some research and reported to Ford that the brake vacuum assist pump was likely corroded, and that this was a known issue on 2011-2013 F-150 ecoboost models. They needed a Ford technician to make the diagnosis, which I was charged $100 for (to determine that I was right). They also reported a bad fuse for the pump. I am hoping nobody is trying to say that with a bad fuse these pumps will dissintergate in three weeks of summer weather? let's be honest- the bad pump took out the fuse, if the fuse was blown. They estimate a ~$900 repair. I opened a ticket with Ford motor company because this event exactly matches NHTSA preliminary investigation item pe15026. People with these trucks or anyone around them could get seriously hurt if the driver cannot react quickly or panics when this part fails, and it is a poorly designed part. Apparently this part was re-engineered for 2014 and later models. At the time of this writing I am hoping I can get some help from Ford. I am a long time customer and have had no prior issue with the dealership or their service department. This is a manufacturing quality issue, pure and simple. I just wanted to report in order to make sure that this case was included with the others related to pe15026.
There was a clunking noise and then grinding noises, particularly loud when applying the brakes. I stopped at the nearest tire/brake center (tires plus, 2975 university pkwy, sarasota FL). They found that the front right brake caliper bolts were completely missing and the inside of wheel was grooved where it had been rubbing against the bolt before it broke off. They advised taking it to Ford, which I did. Ford kept the car and fixed the caliper and replaced the wheel with a new wheel, but did not have any explanation for how bolts could work loose.

Around June of 2014, I noted grinding noise coming from the front wheels. I took it to a repair facility and had it inspected. The front outer brake pads on both wheels showed fairly normal wear with about 3/8"-1/2" of pad remaining on each pad. The inboard pad on both wheels were worn down to bare metal and almost seized into the inboard side of both rotors. I had the facility replace both front rotors and pads, but the service tech had to clean and lube both calipers as neither was freely sliding. I notified the dealer and was told this was normal wear, but also told the caliper pins have to be lubricated on a regular basis to prevent this from happening again. I've checked the Ford maintenance schedule and nowhere do they recommend having to lubricate the caliper pins on a regular schedule. My concern is this will occur again as I have noted a service bulletin on your website regarding binding calipers, although the selling dealer passes this off as a non-issue for the brakes and part of normal wear. I've talked to Ford customer support, but they didn't seem to concerned about the problem.

The contact owns a 2009 Ford f150. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes stopped working. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technicians stated they could not diagnose the failure. The contact took the vehicle in for a second opinion at another dealer and was given the same response. The contact stated when there was snow or ice on the roads the vehicle made a load grinding noise and the vehicle became difficult to stop. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

Vehicle is experiencing grinding noise coming from the front driver's side wheel. When brake is applied the vehicle will shudder to a stop followed by a loud bang before completely stopping. Noise is intermittent and has occurred in all conditions at all speeds. Noise is also much louder at higher speeds and when window is rolled down. Vehicle started problem at 14,000 miles and has continued ever since. Vehicle went into the Ford service 3 times for test drives, only to leave with no resolution since technicians could not duplicate the noise. On the fourth visit technicians heard the noise and replaced the front driver's side hub assembly. They could not find the cause of the hub engaging while driving. Four days after new hub was installed the truck started grinding the hub again. Went in for 5th visit and is still in the shop while they continue to test drive the vehicle. I believe this problem to be dangerous to myself and other drivers because the noise is so loud that it is distracting to the driver and causes other drivers on the road to wave and flag down my vehicle to alert me to the noise. I also believe that the shuddering that is occurring during braking when this grinding noise is present could lead to an accident if cause cannot be found.
