1 Brake Sensor problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/15/2021

Driving home I started to hear and feel this noise on my engine like a clicking/grounting sound. I could hear it more when making turnes and when slowing down. Next day I got on my truck and when in reverse my truck would't let me because it looks like the front tires are locked. And can only go forward. The transmission does not go in reverse, transmission shift lever sequence starter interlock, and transmission braking effect. Transmission range sensor (trs) that was calibrated out of specification for reverse gear.

2 Brake Sensor problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/25/2018

2012 f150: replaced the vacuum pump in oct 2016 based on recall and issues with pressing the brake down when starting up. Same issue started again in June 2018. Brought it back to liccardi Ford and they state the issue is "brake booster vacuum pump sensor and pump relay" . They charge me $140 for diagnosis and when I pick up the truck for a second opinion, the "check brake system" warning light is on. I did not have this issue when I dropped it off.

4 Brake Sensor problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/25/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving downhill and towing a trailer at approximately 55 mph, the brakes failed. Also, the speed increased to over 70 mph and the check braking system and emergency brake sensor indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (future Ford in roseville, CA) where it was diagnosed that oil from the vacuum pump had leaked into the brake booster, causing both the front and rear brakes to malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,000.

5 Brake Sensor problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/16/2017

Ford f150 4x4 XLT, dash board keeps going out. Shows skidding, and tire sensor faulty, dingging, a/c goes hot, inside lights don't work. Has happened many times, spoke with Ford took it in, they stated they could not duplicate the problem, which we have found out is a lie. They stated we needed a new battery, which we had tested as well as the alternator and nothing wrong there either. We took it to advanced auto to see what they could tell us. A young man said that Ford had put out a inside notice that his buddy showed him of a faulty wiring harness in the dash. He asked if he could show us a short term fix. . . He smacked the dash and all the lights came back on. If we hit a bump it will do it again, or on really hot days, because of the heat. We are waiting on Ford to recall this as it is a serious hazard and maybe start fires. As sometimes you smell electrical, this happens daily when ever we drive the truck, you can have a wreck trying to smack it hard enough to get it to come back on. This happens when you are sitting in the truck , driving, or when you go to start it up. . . You will have no gauges, lights a/c or heat in the winter. Yet the outside lights will work, yet when you push the brakes you hear a loud clicking. This has been happening for approx. 2. 5 yrs +. . . Ford needs to recall and fix this. Everyday we deal with this problems multiple times a day. We brought this truck new and it first did this around 23,000 miles. Now at just over 50,000 miles. There are times that smacking the dash does notwork and we have to wait for it to come on, those time you have to run with traffic or if others are passing you need to speed up. Very dangerous.

8 Brake Sensor problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/09/2016

My fiancée and I were driving down the highway, with no cruise control on, and suddenly my sensors go off as if I was about to hit something. Then after a second (probably was only a split-second, but it felt like forever), it went away. If adaptive cruise control would have been enabled, this would have caused the brakes to automatically press (I know because this has happened to me before). I was passing a semi, if that helps. This is a very dangerous issue (sensors thinking they are going to hit something, when it should be nothing). I wish I had a video of it happening, but it only has happened 3 times for at most 3 seconds in the the 1. 5 years I have owned the vehicle.

10 Brake Sensor problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/11/2015

Over the past six weeks, I have encountered three events in which my vehicle was accelerating while I had my foot on the brake. The first time, the truck was attempting to pull forward, vibrating, and revving the engine while I was stopped at a light . I thought it was a fluke or an error on my part and disregarded it. The second and third time, I was trying to slow down for the light with vehicles ahead of me. Instead of stopping as I was depressing the brake, the engine began to rev and pull forward. I depressed my brakes to floor and the truck stopped but the engine continued to rev and attempt to pull forward with the brake on. Ford company and my dealership, of course, denied any problems even after I cited several cases in which this occurred with other cars. They said sometimes sensors go out and they should not be responsible for it but were happy to do a diagnosis for $100. I see several complaints regarding the electronic throttle control systems compared to the new brake override systems and am totally unnerved that Ford will not take responsibility for this. I am concerned about driving the truck with only 45,000 miles on it. I fear that any moment, my truck is going to accelerate into another vehicle while my foot is on the brake. I will never buy a Ford again--a total disregard for consumer safety.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the abs, brake and traction control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that a sensor needed to be replaced in order to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

12 Brake Sensor problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the service engine sensor illuminated intermittently and the brakes failed to work when the brake pedal was applied. The contact had to apply force to the brake pedal to completely stop the vehicle. The brake pedal was difficult to depress to no avail. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign id number: 08v208000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the brake booster vacuum supply hose assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.

13 Brake Sensor problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/21/2012

Engine stalls at low speeds causing loss of steering and braking. There was no check engine light or error code when this first occurred. After the engine had stalled for about 32-35 times, the check engine light finally came on. I took the truck to a local mechanic shop to read the code which indicated that the evap system was blocked. My dealer determined that a solenoid in the fuel evap. System had failed. As a result the fuel tank was collapsed by vacuum because there was no secondary tank vent. This is dangerous! there should be a secondary vent or a pressure/vacuum sensor to prevent the tank from being collapsed. Note: the tank was collapsed so much so, as to damage the pump/level sending unit assembly.

14 Brake Sensor problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/06/2008

I was in an accident due to brake failure. I was traveling at approximately 25 mph and approaching a stop light in moderate traffic. I had 80 ft to the vehicle in front of me and when I depressed my brake pedal it went 3/4 of the way to the floor and was vibrating as anti lock was engaged. I rapidly depressed the pedal again and the same occurred. On the third attempt the brakes finally engaged but was to late to stop the vehicle as I was only 2 feet from the car in front of me resulting in a crash. My speed was reduced to 8-10mph upon impact. The smaller car in front of me was knocked into a third car stopped at the light. Damage occurred to the truck and the smaller car and very minor damage to the 3rd vehicle. The weather was sunny and the streets were completely dry. I could not get my vehicle stopped even with no load other than my passenger who is a witness to the incident. No injuries occurred in any of the three vehicles and no airbags were deployed. I am scared to death as I have owned the truck for 2 years and never had this happen in my life. The brakes worked perfectly immediately following the incident and the truck was taken to the Ford dealer where purchased new and all service records are at this dealer. They thoroughly inspected the entire system and found no issues. System check on all sensors, lines, rotors and pads were ok. Perfect working order ?.

15 Brake Sensor problem of the 1999 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/08/2007

Front antilock sensor defective and causes an additional 15 foot roll before stopping. It nearly caused me my life. And if I was hit by that dumptruck it would have looked like I just made a mistake. I got the new sensor installed and was told there was an upgrade and needed both sensors installed to avoid this. I'm very happy I didn't go to a local garage. They would have replaced the bad one and I would have another shot of hitting that dumptruck.
