36 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

I have a 2012 F-150 and have lost power along with the body of truck shacking on 4 occasions. Want to know how many throttle bodies I have had - the original, the replacement in 2016, another replacement in 2016 and now I broke down again yesterday. Actually on the 3rd throttle body, my husband dropped me off to pick truck up at dealership and I broke down in the Ford dealership parking lot as I was exiting the dealership. I again left it and they said it was dust on something and later afternoon delivered it to my house. So now one year later. . . One year to the day of breaking down, yesterday 5/11/17, I lost power on top of a big bridge on the inside line coming on to our island and by the grace of god no one was in the outer lane and I was able to coast over to the very small and tight emergency lane. People are usually cresting the bridge at 60 mph so I say god was watching over us. We called 911 and waited in the emergency lane on top of bridge and had a police escort off the bridge to a parking lot. We were afraid to move on our own in case someone crested the bridge and was caught off guard as we were coasting down. The emergency lane is very narrow on the bridge and it was a little nerve-wracking. After sitting 5 minutes I was able to start the truck again which is always the case. I had it towed to the Ford dealership and have called left message twice to speak to the service manager and he has yet to call me back. Way to go Ford! my faith in you is lost. I will never feel safe in my truck again. How many throttle bodies does one have to go through before you feel there needs to be a recall on the 2012 F-150. #luckytobealive.

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

My defroster was turned on this morning. I got in my vehicle 10 minutes later and the rear window shattered into a spider web crack. I looked online and have over 32 pages of people complaints on the same issue. Insurance company and warranty will not be covered.

38 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

As I was backing the truck into the garage, with my foot on the brake because my driveway has an decline, the truck took off. In other words unintended accerlation. The engine rpms went very high and the truck went very fast in reverse hitting my garage wall and my father who unfortunately was in the way. Once the truck took off I desperately tried pushing on the brakes and slamming the truck into park but the truck didn't stop until it hit the garage wall. My father suffered a broken leg but was inches away from being killed. The tire tracks on the garage floor showed drag marks as if the front wheels had locked up as the back wheels sped up. This was a horrifying experience and needs to be looked into why Ford vehicles are doing this. There is no way my foot was on the acceleration, although this is what the manufacture is going to claim.

39 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

I was driving my 2011 Ford f150 platinum on a dark chilly morning, the windows and outside mirrors were fogged so I had the rear defroster turned on. I heard a loud noise that I thought was a gunshot. I later noticed that the right side of the rear window was completely shattered. This glass was in place but cracked into thousands of pieces. I called Ford and they said that they had no information on this problem, the vehicle was out of warranty at 75000 miles so they would offer no assistance. I see that there are numerous other complaints for the exact same issue. This is obviously an manufacturing defect and should be corrected before this causes a serious incident.

The advance track warning light and fuel assist start warning lit up then the engine speed decreased to 1000 rpms and no acceloration available this happened on ann state highway from 70 mph dropping down to 10 mph this took over 30 days to fix. Seemed to be missed diagnosed for weeks. Mechanics unable to find problem. Parts were shipped and delayed and lost. Wiring harnesses and pcm and finally throttle body seemed to correct the problem. Mixed up because computer told mechanics one thing but really another.

42 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/30/2016

Used remote start on my pickup in below freezing weather at roughly 28°. Came out to drive to work and rear driver side back window had spider web cracks throughout the glass.

43 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/09/2016

Advance auto light turned on and steering control not tracking properly. Steering issue with digital control since purchase.

44 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/14/2016

2013 f150 Ford parked outside on driveway. Sunny with temperature roughly 32 degrees fahrenheit. Remote start used to warm up truck. Walking out to truck when a loud bang/gunshot type of sound happened without warning. Walked around truck and saw that driver¿s side of the power sliding rear window (3 sections) had started to spider crack. This part of the window then continued to crack until the whole section was spider cracked. (the sharp edges of glass were on the inside of vehicle window. ) the vehicle was taken to dealer for evaluation but was told it is out of warranty. The dealer estimated replacement cost is $1,200-1,300 usd. (parts and labor).

45 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/19/2015

While I was warming my f 150 in my driveway for departure to work, I heard very very loud thump sound coming from the rear window. Assuming maybe I opened my driver side door to far and wide upon getting in, that may have made the thump sound. But as I continued to drive out of my driveway, and proceeded a half mile down the street, I notice tiny small spider fragments on the right end of the 3 panel rear window. I first assumed it was mist dropping from the window but all the other windows on the truck were dry & clear. So I pulled over to get out to check to see if it was truly cracked and damaged. And yes indeed!!! it was the rear right side panel window damaged. I remembered the very loud thump sound that occurred five minutes ago and saw that my defrost was light flicking and now I realize that the rear defrost must have a defect, because I never experience this ever before on any other vehicles I owned and considering I only have less than 37000 miles there must be a major defect with the f150 rear panel windows. If you have any information regarding the Ford F-150 please contact me because this is unsafe especially when you have small children, or any passengers sitting in the rear. I'm just thankful there was no one in the rear. The cost to repair is extremely costly considering that the entire rear panel window has to be replace, this isn't fair to the consumers.

46 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/06/2015

The original michelin tires on my 2010 F-150, had to be replaced due to cracking around the rim on the inside of the tire. Tires had 31346 miles at replacement on 5 oct 2015. I also had to replace the original rear shocks at 31360 miles due to one leaking and one that was not working at all.

47 Carrier/rack problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/22/2015

During an oil change it was noticed that the left hand front differential mounting bracket appeared to have a crack pursuant with TSB 06-11-12. However upon closer examination it was shown that the damage was more extensive then the "concern of the left hand front differential mounting bracket separating from the frame rail. " mention in the TSB. Instead of the aforementioned mount breaking, a section of the frame approximately 1/4 of an inch around the welds for the differential mount on all sides had separated from the rest of the frame leaving a hole in the frame approximately four inches across.

48 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

2013 Ford F-150 lariat super crew: April 17, 2015: driving south on rt 95 to boston, my wife (driver) turned on the rear window defroster to clear fog from windows and side mirrors. There was a sudden loud "gun shot" type of noise that startled us both. We looked at windshield to see if we had been hit and for cracks; there was nothing. Once stopped and looking over the truck we discovered that the rear window/back lite on driver's side had shattered. I ran my hand over the entire window searching for an impact point, or mark and there was absolutely nothing. We both wondered aloud as to how this window just shattered on its own. Once home, I went on the internet to look up possible causes and discovered that there are many, many cases of the exact same thing happening to Ford pickups. I called Ford customers service today and spoke at length with "angela" who seemed to understand the safety issue of windows shattering while driving but after putting me on hold to check with someone, said that there is nothing Ford can do until a recall is issued, if ever. I told her that there is nearly 60 complaints on this issue on the NHTSA site, along with scores of others in Ford forums, etc. This number apparently is not enough of a safety issue for Ford to respond, but common sense dictates that its only a matter of time until something very serious occurs from Ford F-150 windows shattering while driving in traffic. This is a serious issue!.

49 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

During the start up of my 2013 Ford F-150 king ranch, I proceeded to utilize the rear defroster to get the ice off the rear window. The rear window is comprised of 3 panels of glass, one on each side and the sliding window in the center. The panel behind the drivers side then proceeded to crack and spider across the entire window. The initial sound led me to believe it was another issue as it was a loud bang, but I then looked in my rear view and noticed the cracked glass. It renders the entire window useless and a safety hazard as it distorts and skews my vision and ability to see out of it safely until I can attempt to have Ford rectify this issue. After looking online, it appears as if this is a common issue, that really should not happen to begin with.

50 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/27/2015

2010 Ford f150 XLT; bought from a used car dealer 2/7/2015. On 3/27/2015 I took the truck in for an oil change & was told that the rack & pinion was damaged; went to the dealership & they had the rack & pinion replaced. Took the truck in for an oil change on 9/26/2016 & once again I'm leaking power steering fluid. I contacted the repair shop & they have no paper record of the repair & neither does the dealership. I called every parts store in the area & none of them have a record of selling the repair shop that particular part for my make & model truck. There is one parts store that will be willing to do an exchange for the old part but only with the repair shop that originally did the work. I don't want that guy working on my truck anymore because when he put the part on the first time, he put it on with zip ties! this part costs around $375 plus labor & I don't have that kind of money. Not with raising 2 kids by myself because their deadbeat dad won't get a job to help with expenses. I have to keep power steering fluid on hand at all times because I never know when I'm gonna have to add some to the truck. I've noticed that same "whine" in a lot of Ford trucks driving by my house & something needs to be done. I have no warranty on my truck anymore & I can't afford to buy one of those extended warranty things you see online or on tv commercials.

51 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

52 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

Turned the rear defroster on this morning and heard a loud bang. Looking back I realized that back window had spider cracks all over. I did research today and realized that this is a re-occurring problem. This is going to cost $800. 00 on Thursday morning to have the entire window replaced.

53 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/07/2015

I went to turn around off of a paved street. My front right tire feel into the mud. I told my wife we are stuck, then put my truck in four wheel drive, off road mode and sport track mode on the dash. I pulled forward about a foot or so and was stopped by something, I then went backwards. I repeated this for about five times. My daughter was hysterical for just being stuck, I turned and told her to calm down, when I turned back around I saw fire in the driver side mirror, I told my family " it's on fire, get out". I opened my door to get our and was engulfed by flames, I quickly exited the passenger side door. I yelled for my daughter three times, she had ran a long way away from the truck, because she was frightened. When I had her in my sight I started filming. She had exited out over the top of my son on the passenger side as well. My son said he heard a spewing noise while I was telling my 8 year old daughter to calm down. He slung my daughter out when he saw me become engulfed in flames. I was off the road less than a minute before I saw the flames, I started filming well within two minutes of being off the road and my 2014, ruby red, special edition one of a kind Ford f150, svt raptor was completely engulfed in flames in less than five minutes. Cause of fire is undetermined.

54 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Remote started the vehicle this morning with climate control switch in auto. Truck ran for 10 minutes. Entered my truck to look in the rear view mirror to see that the driver side rear windshield had been spider webbed. No indications of rocks or any other materials/debris present to have caused the cracking. Ford fix your problems.

55 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/11/2014

I was driving to the gym about 10 minutes from my house. When I got there, I put my truck in park, turned it off, gathered my things, and then heard this crazy loud popping/cracking noise. The rear passenger side window just shattered!!! I have a 2011 F-150 with a a rear window defroster and power sliding rear window. This is the first winter I have lived somewhere cold and used that rear defroster, which per searching online for answers, appears to be the culprit. I also talked to a few glass companies when calling around for quotes to replace the window and they all said I'm not the first F-150 owner with the same problem. Grrr. There are a couple dozen other complaints out there too for the exact same thing for the exact same window all beacuse of a stupid rear defroster glitch. This is ridiculous! I had the window looked at to see if something had hit it and caused it to shatter but there was no evidence of this so I'm blaming the p. O. S. Defroster. The window blew out on my way back home so there was shattered glass in the back of my bed. Only $600 to get it fixed. No big deal. . Not! happy birthday to me! >=[ and that was the cheapest quote. I had quotes from $600-$950. Oy. This is b. S. Also, the design of this rear window is terrible when it comes to replacing it. As I have recently found out, you cannot replace the left or right rear window by themselves. If the left and/or right window shatters (because of a crappy defroster or other crappy reasons) you have to replace the entire rear window, hence the $600 bill for one broken window. It the middle window breaks you can replace that by itself but if the window on either side breaks, you are s. O. L. I called a few dealerships too to see if they could do anything. Nope. Nobody gave a hoot. Boo Ford, boo. I was so happy with my truck until this. Once again, >=[.

56 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

Truck was parked in driveway on a cold 20 degree morning and when the rear defrost was activated the rear cab window cracked and spiderwebbed most likely due to the heat from a defective heating element in the defrost system.

57 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

At a stoplight I activated the rear window defroster. After approximately 30 seconds I heard a sharp large cracking sound. Upon investigation I found the driver side rear window was shattered but still in place. No signs of chips from inside vehicle or outside were seen before the incident. After getting back inside the vehicle I noticed the rear defroster was inoperable.

58 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Turned on rear defrost and drove for about 10 minutes. Daughter reported hearing a "static" noise which was followed by smoke and a "pop" as the back passenger side rear glass cracked-(glass spiderweb) but still intact.

59 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

I was driving down the highway and as I was making a right hand turn my motor turned off. I had no steering and little brakes to get me off the road. I took the truck to my mechanic and he told me the fuel module was cracked. This is common on f150's and I feel Ford should have a recall on this before someone gets hurt. Thanks.

62 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/14/2014

First, I crank my vehicle and allow to engine to warm approximately 3-5 minutes each day as usual. Once I begin driving a "loud humming" or unusual noise happens usually once I reach 30-40 miles per hour. This will happen several times during my driving time, and then cease all of a sudden. I am very disappointed with this issue because I just purchased vehicle on June 20, 2014 and now I am having issues with it. I was able to finally get into my local dealer (point of purchase also) to get a tech to ride with me because no lights come on during noise time. I am very frustrated with estabrook Ford in pascagoula right now. I called on July 17 to set up "check" for vehicle, but was told that they were very busy and could not check it until next week. I scheduled to have a leave vehicle at dealer overnight and return next morning so that tech could ride with me to "listen" for noise. Upon arrival, I was told that they tried to call me to reschedule because 3 techs and oil changer guy had walked off job. Well, this is untrue because I have had same number for 2 years, and have taken my vehicles in for oil change, etc. I told them that I could not take off work to bring vehicle back and I waited for tech to ride with me. Tech rode with me (very nice guy) and heard sound. He stated that it sounds like transmission because the noise occurs during shifting. They scheduled me to return vehicle this Wednesday after I get off work (August 5) to put it on rack to attempt to repair problem. My other issue is with Ford corporation! I am very frustrated to know that I may have ongoing issues with a "new purchase. ".

63 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/14/2014

Ford fixed my rear window, no questions asked. . . . This is what happened. . . . I started my truck, put on the rear defrost, drove out of my apartment complex and as I was about to exit the complex I heard a loud pop/crack noise, I stopped, no one was around, (it was 6am in the morning), I checked the entire truck to see what it was and the back left part of the rear window was completely shattered!, no sign of impact, just shattered. . . Apparently there is no recall out on it, so if it has happened to you or does happen, take it in!, with how many complaints I have already read, it must be a manufacturer defect related to the rear defrost or installation of the window. . . .

64 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

It was about 12 degrees out this morning when I put on my rear window defroster on my 2011 f150 supercrew. After about 5 minutes of driving, I head a loud bang come from the rear of the truck. I pulled over to see what had happened and notice that the rear window exploded and shattered into tiny pieces. Nothing had hit the window, it was from the change in temperature. The back window had no previous cracks or scrathers so I saw no reason for it to react to the change in heat. Luckily noone was in the back seat when this happened.

65 Carrier/rack problem of the 1999 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 02/21/2014

Cable that holds spare tire up under the truck bed rusted at the bracket and spare tire fell out from under the truck, it was a good thing that truck was not going any faster as the spare could have bounced on the road and caused an accident.

While driving after 5 mins in the morning, heard a very loud bang. Like a branch or rock hit the roof of the truck in the back passenger side. Heard a crackling sound and the rear window on the passenger side had shattered. The window is divided into 1/3 and the 1/3 on the passenger side is shattered. All of the other windows appear to be ok. After some inspection, nothing hit the truck! I was driving in a open area, so nothing could have fallen on the truck from above.

I was driving and heard a very loud bang. Then I heard the rear window crackling and looked back and noticed the rear passenger side window had exploded and shattered. It was only being held together by the the factory tint but there were glass shards throughout the back seat where my children sit. The window is a power sliding rear window with defrost. I also had the rear defrost on during the time which may have contributed to the window shattering.

I have already reported this piece of junk but needed to add to the list?. We, as of last week, are on our 15th rental while the dealer and Ford are trying to figure out whats wrong with it again?. The engine light has been coming on since the week we bought this junk and is still flashing while we drive?. . The dealer has asked Ford to put in a new engine several times but Ford for some reason wants the dealer to just keep replacing the same parts over and over again?? we have had several new sets of plugs. . The others crack and short out? we've had cam phasers and sensors replaced?? fast forwarding through many parts repeatedly replaced, the dealer now says there are parts sheared off in the engine and are asking Ford, once again to replace the engine?. We are waiting on Ford to (probably) decline the dealers recommendation?. . Ford stopped calling us back, we have left several messages and they just keep passing the buck onto the poor dealer, who has been trying to help us?. . Ford should have taken this lemon back long ago and gave us a new one?. . Our 15th rental might be with us for some time while we wait on an answer?? we sometimes have our rentals for over a month at a time??. Its nice to keep paying on time for a vehicle that we don't even have?(sarcasm).
