Hard shifting ! not up shifting or down shifting or it will go from 10th to 1st gear on the hwy causing loss of power, I had 2 semi trucks right behind me almost causing an accident, when stoping at a red light or stop sign it does not want to go forward trying to start in a higher gear, and causing me to be stuck in the intersection with on coming traffick. It is lounging forward on its own, it causes the rpm to red line when you are not accelorating even after you have taken your foot off the gas and are applying the brake. It is skiping gears it will go from 1 to 7th to 10th back down to 1st all within a matter of seconds, it will down shift or up shift and jump so hard that it hurts my back and makes everyone in the truck sore feeling like you got whiplash. I did take the truck to the dealership when it first started clanking hard when I put it in drive or reverse the dealership told me it was normal for that transmission and wouldnt even look at it. Since then it has only gotten worse I have reached out to serval other dealerships and explained the issues they have all told me there is no fix for this issue. They are getting so many reports for the same issue, and Ford has not found a fix for the issue. When this first started there were no wornings and no lights on the dash, now I am getting nottifications on the Ford app and there has been a wrench light ththat comes on the dash periodicly. Currently the truck is at the dealership for a full transmission rebuild suggusted by them. Costing almost $6000. 00 and acourding to them this is the only fix for it at this time. The clutch basket has failed sending improper fluid pressure though out the transmission.

I believe there is a major problem with the transmission. Vehicle frequently makes a loud bang when started. The vehicle shudders and I feel a thud in the wheel well. It's like the clutch is failing or something? shifting gears extremely rough to the point where you're jerked around. Sometimes, to get into gear, I have to turn the truck off and re-start. Sometimes there is no power when trying to accelerate (or the truck is out of gear) from a stop which is extremely dangerous when cars are behind you or trying to accelerate merging onto the freeway. Sometimes the vehicle simply drops out of gear and 'd" (drive) is not an option. This has also happened on the freeway. I've read about a lot of owner comments that are identical to mine. Reading all these issues completely agree, this issue is extremely dangerous!.

On June 29, 2009 while driving the vehicle on a busy city street the automatic transmission suddenly and without warning appeared to shift into neutral. There was no noise or any indication of the catastrophic failure that had occurred. The engine revved with no response from the transmission. While trying to avoid traffic as the vehicle slowed I attempted to clear traffic lanes as safely as possible. The transmission was shifted down into second gear as I slowed to see if this had any effect on the transmission. The vehicle immediately responded and I pulled out of traffic lanes. I immediately checked the fluid level and it was in standard operating range. I then disengaged the overdrive of the transmission and the vehicle was driven home. An inspection of the vehicle found the overdrive clutch pack failed. This vehicle is well maintained, does not tow anything and is driven to and from work, 30 miles each way. The repair is $2500. 00 for a 5 year old vehicle with 69,700 miles. I believe this standard equipment from Ford was not designed to perform at an adequate performance level as expected from a consumer. The consumers who purchase new Ford vehicles should be able to expect the product to last longer than the payments one makes on the new vehicle!.
