My 2011 f150 fx4 has been acting up with the transmission. This has happened multiple times and the dealer is unable to replicate it. So far they have changed all of th coil packs, reset the transmission, changed all the spark plugs in a hope that was the issue. Well it's not. The truck lunges forward with loud bangs and grinding noises. Rpm's go up and down and the truck sounds as if I downshifted from 6th gear to first. Then I can only go 40 miles an hour with high rpms. Engine lights have lit up and now a wrench. This is crazy my gauges don't work this is dangerous.

When driving at slow speeds (ie parking lots) the transmission downshifts into first gear with a very large "bang" noise. This problem is very intermittent. Ford has issued a recall (16s19) which was performed on my vehicle by the local Ford dealership, but it did not resolve this problem. I returned to my local and they keep clearing the transmission's computer in the hopes of relearning my driving habits. This was done twice since the recall was performed, with no improvement.
While driving as you try to maintain speed at a lower rpm the trans feels like shaking or makes a noise of rattling, and also hard down shifts from 5th to 4th to 3rd gear, I have it looked at at 2 dealerships and one said nothing wrong and the second one said the rattling noise was the skid guard wasn't tight enough supposedly they did tight it but noise is still there.

In 2016 I went to get recall repaired from franklin TN dealership I purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from Ford, online in emails to another dealer, I have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. Both dealerships are in TN. When in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and I have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed Ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. I am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. The down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. The loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. While driving at low speeds, a grinding noise was detected and the vehicle automatically shifted into second gear. The vehicle was taken to allan vigil Ford (6790 mt zion blvd, morrow, GA 30260, (678) 364-3673), but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was referred to another dealer. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 45,000.
2014 Ford F-150. Consumer writes in regards to transmission noise when shifting into drive or reverse. A Ford engineer informed the consumer, Ford made a change in the transmission tail shaft, from roller bearings to ball bearings.
When there was snow and ice on the highways I put my truck in 4 wheel drive and when turned back into 2 wheel drive I began to notice a grinding and vibration noise that occurred when turning. Then couple weeks later the noise started when backing out causing truck to shake and lose power to barely back out. This noise continued and has gotten worse. Was taken to dealership and looked over. Updates were made as well as oil change but days later noise came back. Since 2/12/15 my truck has been in the service department four times and has performed recommendations by Ford but days later noise comes back. The last time my truck was in I was told by the owner and service manager my truck is not fixable as they were informed other 2012 f150's are having same issues and an investigation is being done. Since this my truck is shaking more backing up, jerking the vehicle on the highway as if losing power than will gain power and jolt forward, I hear this grinding noise all the time when driving at different speeds from 30-60 mph, turns, and backing up. The other issue is when truck gets to 60 mph or higher it does not shift down unless I let up on pedal and then push it again. I am feeling unsafe in this vehicle as twice now I have heard a popping noise while driving with this noise. The dealership has told me there is nothing more they can do. The issue has been reported to Ford and they have done nothing for me. I want to get rid of this truck as I do not feel safe driving it like this.
Hear a whining noise coming from the transmission/rear of truck as truck accelerates, upon deceleration after and before down-shifting, and when cruising at a constant speed when transmission 'catches' to maintain speed. Researched and found TSB 13-6-4; truck was made between dates and describes noise accurately - spoke to Ford service center and truck fits within manufacturer dates of TSB, but not specific engine, just transmission. Told issue wasn't "recall worthy" because it isn't a 'safety' issue, but if my transmission locks up at highway speeds this will be a 'safety issue'.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford f150. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph,the vehicle gear shifted then, a strong burning smell emiited into the vehicle while an abnormal noise came from the rear of the vehicle. The starter defect warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the eletrical program had to be replaced. The vehilce was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 20,000. Pp.
My 2013 Ford f150 XLT began flashing a warning saying service advancetrac. Then it immediately begins flashing shift to park. The truck then begins to downshift causing a rapid slowing of the truck. . When I get to the side of the road to stop I hear metal on metal grinding noises from the engine compartment that I believe is the transmission trying to shift to park. . . The truck then loses all blinkers and flashers as well as all lighting on the instrument panel. I was able to drive it to a safe location off the road this time. . The truck randomly continues this and its been in the shop several times and they say nothing is wrong with it. I finally got fed up and began video of the dash display in order to document my safety and problems. This truck is 9 months old and has 14000 miles on it. It has done it again and all electrical systems would not reboot and left me stranded for a long time. We have been driving on i95 at 75mph during holiday traffic and it happened again and we literally thought we would be killed because cars had to slam on brakes to avoid our disabled car. It was even scarier since my 6month old daughter was in the vehicle then. We are at a loss because Ford has completely ignored the problem and just assumes I will stop making them fix this at some point. I'm in a 1 car family and bought this to accommodate my new baby and have her a safe ride. . . This problem is dangerous and it is going to hurt or kill someone if its left unaddressed. Mr moore at jim hudson Ford service has told me he knows its something wrong with it but Ford will not allow him to fix it under the warranty terms for new trucks.

While accelerating the truck will make a whining/groaning noise coming from the transmission area and will go away once the truck has finished accelerating to the speed limit. The whole truck will also jump making a noticeable thud while shifting into reverse with the truck stationary and the brakes applied, it will occasionally do the same shifting into drive, again while stationary. When I park the truck on a incline big or small the truck will make a loud buzzing noise coming from underneath and a vibration can be felt that will last a few seconds to a minute, the sound can be heard shifting through p,n,d,r as well. The last issue occurs when the outside temps are cold and I drive the truck 15-20mins with a average speed of 50mph. I have taken the truck to the dealer who attempted to fix the issue to no avail. I have spoke with another dealer's service manager who was not very helpful in solving my issue. I'm currently in touch with a Ford regional customer service representative and in the process of going back to a dealer.
I was doing nothing abnormal, simply trying to back up from a store with nothing in bed of truck. The truck shifted into reverse normally then as I took my foot off the brake a slight thud. Truck then revved in reverse as if it was in neutral. No signs leading up to incident, no noises, abnormal behavior, or signs of any kind. Corrections are being looked into two days from now but a rough estimate from 3 transmission shops estimate aprx. $2000 to repair. The old internal parts may be able to be saved for inspection, I will inquire with mechanic.

I have owned a 2004 Ford F-150 fx4 with only 14,000 miles on it for 3 weeks and it has been in the repair shop at Ford for 4 days now and they can't fix the problem. Truck makes a rattling noise from under front end when pulling a hill or when you reach 50 mph. It also seems to lose power or "bog down" momentarily when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. Mechanic says it is a "nightmare" because they can hear the noise and feel the gear shifting problem, but can't find what's wrong and don't know how to fix it. We have also discovered that this truck was a Ford buy back and we are the 3rd, possibly 4th, owners of this vehicle, (still investigating). We are wondering why this truck has changed hands so many times with such low mileage. We will be returning the truck to the dealer tomorrow and getting our 2003 expedition back, which has had several problems fixed under warranty, and were having problems with it again, causing us to trade it in. . . We'll be back to square one!!! thanks Ford! by the way, these are not the only 2 instances where I have had a bad experience with Ford products and/or service. I wrote a detailed letter to Ford motor company concerning another vehicle I had purchased from them several years ago. I stated the nature of the problem with the vehicle and also about the poor service I received from their company. . . Of course I never got a response. I could go on forever. Six years and 7 Ford products later, I may have finally learned my lesson. Seriously considering switching to the "other guys" for a vehicle.
Jerking and bumping noise in drive line at light acceleration just before or just after transmission shifts to the next gear. Dealer added a gear fluid additive that they said was left out at factory. This did not fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford f150. Since the vehicle was purchased, the transmission experienced irregularities while shifting. The vehicle would shift in and out of gear. The contact heard a noise when the vehicle shifted into overdrive. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer at 23,400 miles and they stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Rocks were removed from the exhaust shield. The technician test drove the vehicle and stated that the noise was normal. While driving at 55 mph, the vehicle began jerking and the transmission failed without warning. The dealer stated that something became loose within the transmission and it needed to be replaced. Ford stated that the contact would have to pay out of pocket because the vehicle was not under warranty. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 67,000 and failure mileage was 8.
I have a 2003 Ford f150 pickup, v6, 5-speed manual transmission. My warranty expired at 36,000 miles and my clutch slave cylinder failed at 37,000 miles. After contacting the dealership and telling them about the problem and asking them if they would cover the part since it had failed prematurely, and they answered "no". I took it to a private shop and had the slave cylinder replaced. The day after I got it back I periodically heard strange noises coming from the transmission. I took it back into the shop that replaced my slave cylinder. Upon observation they found nothing. After driving it for two more days the problem was extremely evident by the noises that were constant whenever I shifted as well as in neutral. I took it to a reputable transmission shop and told the shop that I wanted to be there when the transmission was opened up. I was present when they opened up the transmission. As they pulled the transmission apart, they found mangled thin metal debris, some pieces as large as my thumbnail. After taking the entire transmission apart and inspecting all bearings and all other parts, they found that the pieces were a foreign material to the transmission. They did not come from any part of the transmission. One of these pieces found its way between the gears on the counter shaft and broke one of the teeth, explaining the noise. So, in short, we are currently having the transmission rebuilt at a cost of $1800. 00 on a vehicle with only 37,000 miles on it.

Within a few thousand miles of purchase, we began noticing a sporadic grating noise from the rear end. More distubing is the hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gears that is also sporadic. The shifting problem happens on long trips of 150 miles or more. It will usually happen about once a day but of course we never know when. The grating noise is less frequent and can happen anytime. Our vehicle is currently at the dealership for a fourth visit for these problems. Ford has not been able to replicate the grating and hard shifting which makes sense but at the same time we are stuck with a vehicle that has not provided new truck performance. Since the problem has become more frequent, it will probably lead to transmission failure once it is out of warranty. I have considered selling it but that would be unethical since the next person would eventually experience the same problems. Ford needs to step up and replace the transmission. There is one other similar complaint in the data base.
While shifting the vehicle there is a loud noise. The slave cylinder into the transmission is defect. The dealership is aware of the problem. Ts.

Automatic transmission failed while driving. Prior to this incident when changing gears transmission made a whining noise before it went into gear. This mainly occurred while reversing. A mechanic serviced vehicle several times for this issue, but no cause was found. Currently, vehicle is at the dealership for repairs. The transmission also hesitated when shifted into any gear.

Steady tapping noise in 5th gear, when accelerator pressed (no variation with speed increase). Worse in cool weather. Moving the 4wheel drive shifter side to side modulates noise. Has gotten coarser and louder, and spread to 3rd and 4th gears over the course of last 14k miles. Academy Ford led me to believe a fix was in progress during repeated service visits since oct 99, but admitted Dec 2000 that Ford did not want to invest resources in pursuing investigation of the problem or its cause since not too many people drive 5speeds and have reported same. Stick shift also seems mushy at times and don't know if this is related.
