Transmission Failure Problems of Ford F-150 - part 2

2000 Ford f150 started downshifting while driving at highway speeds. The check engine light illuminated and the over drive light came on. The vehicle was taken to a service station who determined that the transmission failed.

The vehicle's automatic transmission failed. The transmission continued to break down. There was no reverse due to the low in reverse clutch being inoperative. There was slippage as well due to the reverse sun gear weld being broken.

Transmission line cracked on my 2003 Ford 150 super crew. Trasmisssion began to shift erratically leading to total transmission failure at around 36,000 miles.

The transmission in my 98 F-150 failed at 36400 mi and 36 months. Ford, the dealer and I split the cost of repair. Now, approximately 36000 mi and three years more and the transmission has failed again. Dealer recommends that I purchase a re-manufactured trans for $2200. Odd coincidence that the same transmission failed at the same mileage and time. Vehicle is used for transportation and is rarely used to tow or carry loads. Both incidents happened with the vehicle in drive and moving forward at a very moderate rate in a parking lot.

Automatic transmission failure of overdrive. Overdrive will go out all at once, loosing speed and becoming a hazard in middle of road.

Recall 97v147000,transmission failed to shift out of park after vehicle was started. This was due to ta defect in the transmission shift cable. This vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN.

Automatic overdrive transmission failure with 65877 highway miles. Could not be rebuilt,had to buy new trans. Vehicle under 3 years old and factory would only help with $700. 00 of $3000. 00 plus bill.

While driving the transmission failed. The vehicle would not go faster than 40 mph. The gas pedal was pressed down but the vehicle had no power. The truck stopped in the road. The rear wheels had no power.

Transmission failed at 64,400 miles while on express way traveling 60 mph. Dealer recommends full replacement with re-manufactured unit. Incident occured after 60k extended mileage warranty expired. Estimates for repair exceed $2,000 on a vehicle which is less than 5 years old.

Transmission failed to shift into reverse after vehicle was serviced. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further details.

Transmission failed at 48000 miles.

Consumer noticed a 1/2 inch crack on the outside door of the driver & passenger side. Metal was shearing. Delear said that it was out of warranty & they had to have permission from Ford. Also the transmission failed.

Transmission failed.

Transmission operates erratically; whenever vehicle reaches high gear, transmission would fail to downshift. Also, whenever consumer tries to slow down, vehicle would not stop unless consumer slams hard on brakes. This condition occurs consistently within the first 10 to 15 miles of driving. Consumer took vehicle to three different dealers, and no correction was made. Could NHTSA help in any way? thank you.

My daughter placed the transmission in park. She got out of the truck which was parked on a slight incline and walked behind the small trailer she was pulling to close a gate. The truck transmission failed or released and the trailer and truck both ran over, resulting in her death. Dt.
