36 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/16/2018

Truck would drop out of gear while driving, and most gauges stopping working when this happened. Happened 3 times before I got a repair. 2 of those times were at about 30-35 mph and the transmission came out of 4th or 5th and jumped into 1st gear, throwing the truck around a bit. I happened to be slowing down each of those times and it didn't become a safety concern. The 3rd time was at least 60 mph on a freeway, but this time the transmission luckily stayed in neutral, and I coasted to a stop at the side of the freeway. This time gave a dtc of p07022. I shut off the engine and everything worked ok after restarting. This is when I stopped driving this truck until I could get it repaired. Took to dealer, they replaced the lead frame connector, but not the entire lead frame. Shifting has been a little weird after that, I may have to take it in again.

37 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/11/2018

The transmission will intermittently, either not shift out of 1st gear, or even worse, it will downshift from a higher gear back into 1st. This occurs while the truck is in motion on surface streets and highway on ramps.

38 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/20/2018

Transmission suddenly downshifts, causing brake squealing and rapid speed reduction, extremely dangerous as has occurred on highway. Also sometimes will put in drive and says is in 5th gear but won't move, or other times will not shift out of first gear. Very dangerous issue! has occurred numerous times over past month but doesn't generate a code or warning lights.

39 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/14/2018

The transmission will shift out of gear, into a higher gear, or into a lower gear without warning. The speedometer goes to zero and the rpms will race to 5000 or 6000. The worst instance of this happened at 60 mph when it all of a sudden shifted into first gear causing the rear tires to squeal, the engine to rev, and also loose control of the vehicle. The error code of a "wrench" popped up on the dashboard. In my research, the 2011 and 2012 f150s have already been recalled but this needs to include the 2013 as well. The repair is the "lead frame" in the transmission at a cost of over $1,000. This is a very serious safety issue.

40 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

2011 Ford f150 traveling at 65 mph straight down the highway the transmission seemed to slip out of gear and then down shifted to first gear causing the wheels locked up and loss control of the truck and ran off the road into a dry ditch. Research show a safety recall for this exact problem. Safety recall notice16s19/NHTSA recall16v-248. Ford motor company say my vehicle is not covered in this recall. Also Fords info for this recall states that 2011 f150 built at dearborn plant between the dates of February 11 2011 to September 8 2012 are covered in this recall. My vehicle falls into this category but is not covered. If I were to have been on a heavily traveled road this could have cause a serious accident.

41 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/21/2017

I have had multiple times where my truck transmission randomly and unexpectedly either drops out of gear or downshifts while moving. The speedometer also drops to zero while I am still moving. At least once this has happened after I pulled onto a street with plenty of time, but because I lost power, it nearly caused an accident. All incidents have been on city streets so far at low speeds. I have researched and found that Ford has a recall out for this exact issue (16s19) with build date parameters of February 11, 2011 to September 8, 2012 at the dearborn plant. My truck was built in August of 2012, within the parameters, at the dearborn plant, however, I am being told I am not included in this recall, even though I am having the exact issue it should be fixing. How my truck is not included is beyond me. I have attached a screenshot of the document I found online for the recall.

42 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2017 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 11/18/2017

4500 miles on vehicle, never towed anything, only normal city/highway driving, no long trips ever taken. Was turning left at intersection and transmission seemed to slip, truck still made it through, I then noticed that a yellow "wrench" light came on, I assumed this was for my upcoming 5k mile oil change. I didn't think much of the "slip" and assumed it was an anomaly. I then got onto the highway and noticed the truck was behaving strangely, power was inconsistent, I attempted to put it into cruise control and it refused to activate. I got off of highway and turned left at an intersection, starting from a complete stop the truck lurched forward and then slipped out of gear and stalled out in the intersection. If a car was coming I would have easily been struck. I let it sit for a few seconds and then the transmission finally got into, and stayed in, first gear. At first it went into gear and then slipped out of gear. This "wrench" light was apparently a limp home mode, another complaint, besides the stalling, would be the fact that this little yellow wrench light does nothing to warn me that the truck is actually in an impaired state, a "limp" mode. I work in the aerospace industry and this would never be tolerated, a function that hampers the normal performance of your vehicle should be easy to recognize as a warning, a little yellow wrench looks like a service light.

43 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

While driving down the street it decelerates and shift out of gear but if I turn it off turn the key over, move the shift column from drive to first ,back to drive and if it starts properly it runs for approximately 3 to 4 miles and then it kicks back out to gear acts like there's no gas until I restart the vehicle at one point it shifted into first locked up my rear end of my vehicle as I was going down the highway almost causing me to wreck fortunately no one was behind me.

44 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

When driving in motion, my vehicle downshifted automatically locking up the brakes. The speedometer stopped working and the airbag began to read inoperable via the display. In another situation (which occurred several times) when starting from a stationary position my vehicle failed to shift out of 1st gear. I took the vehicle to be serviced by Ford, they advised the lead frame on the transmission was bad and they replaced it. Upon further research, I found that 10-12 Ford F-150's from the kansas city plant had this item recalled.

45 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2005 Ford F-150

46 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/27/2017

Jan. 27, 2017 we were pulling away from a stop light got to around 40 mph and the vehicle down shifted out of gear making a lot of noise and started bucking. We could hardly get it to the side of the road as it would hardly move. We had not had any issues before this. It was not drivable. We had it towed to the local Ford dealership. In regard to recall 16s19 and 16n02, the vehicle did exactly what the recall stated in regard to the downshifting however as per the mechanic who repaired, this issue could have been the reason the planetary gears went out as well and we had to replace the transmission at considerable cost. Ford service indicated it would take at least a week to two weeks for repair as there were other transmission jobs in front of ours at both dealerships. We made the decision to have it towed to another transmission repair shop as we could not be without our vehicle for up to two weeks. Ford is now refusing to help pay for repairs/replacement since repairs were not done at a Ford certified repair shop. We even kept the transmission for Ford to take a look at in regard to this recall. . . They weren't interested. This vehicle has only 104,000 miles, this should not have happened.

47 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2010 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 01/19/2017

Transmission slips out of gear at times. Occasionally it downshifts and the truck slows down fast, other times it feels like it just slips out of gear altogether into neutral, then the engine rpms go high and the truck slows down. Both times, when the transmission goes back into gear, it creates a large thump sound and the truck jumps, occasionally spinning my tires. This happens both while driving on the road and while driving from a stop sign/light and has happened multiple times since I have owned the truck. At least 10 to 15 times per month.

48 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

Transmission lead frame needed to be replaced, however, was not included as part of the recall of 2011 F-150 lead frame. Apparently, the transmission "number" is different from the recalled version, however, since one transmission was recalled, not sure why all 2011 models were not included in the recall. We were forced to incur out of pocket costs which would have been covered in a recall. While driving vehicle, service engine light appeared and the transmission temperature appeared on the dash screen. Truck would not shift out of 5th gear and had to be towed to dealer who replaced lead frame.

49 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 05/04/2016

On 3 occasions the transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. Two of these occurred when pulling onto a 50mph roadway. I was able to pull to the side of the road, turn off the truck and restart the truck. The transmission worked properly after that. On the most recent occasion I had been slowed down by an accident on the freeway. After clearing the accident I accelerated to get up to freeway speed but could not go over apx. 20 mph because the transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. I was in the middle lane and could not get to the side of the road to shut off and restart the truck. After shifting to first gear manually (auto transmission) I was able to manually shift the automatic transmission through the gears and had normal transmission operation after that.

50 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/22/2016

Truck shifts up & down by self. Jerks hard when shifting. When stopped speedo goes to 30 to 50 and shows in 3rd gear. At start in this situation it jumps violently forward. When trying to merge with traffic will not shift out of 1st gear. Restart and take back roads as it is not safe in traffic or where there are pedestrians at a cross walk. Phil long Ford denver is waiting to hear from Ford. Ford has started a case report on this vehicle but has not responded. I am concerned this is a big safety problem. This appears to happen when the transmission temperature goes up over 200 degrees f. The problems happen while stopped, stopping, starting highways or secondary roads, this happened 2 times within the last month.

51 Transmission Slip Out Of Gear problem of the 2015 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/02/2015

I have been having an ongoing issue with my transmission, where it shifts rough or does not shift appropriately. When the truck shifts rough, I barely have my foot on the accelerator, where it will slam into gear causing the truck to jolt. I also have been experiencing the truck failing to downshift out of 4th gear while going uphills. While going uphills, the rpms will go below 1000, where the truck will begin to shutter as if it is going to stall. You are forced to press the accelerator in order for it to shift, where the rpms/turbo booster will soar. I have had the truck at the dealership for this concern, where they performed a software update and it did not fix the issue. I feel the transmission shifting rough could cause an accident, if the engine in fact stalls and you lose control of the vehicle. I also feel being forced to accelerate could cause you to strike the vehicle in front of you or lose control it this occurs while negotiating a turn etc. The panoramic sunroof allows water to pass the rubber seal and drain into the water track. I frequently have had the windows fog up from moisture inside the passenger compartment and the odor of mold. If you google "2015 Ford F-150 sunroof leaks", you will find 1000's of concerned Ford owners on forums experiencing the same issues, where Ford states it is normal for the sunroof to leak past the seal. I feel the sunroof is a health concern, as I believe mold may be growing in the truck and is being breathed in. I have been experiencing the seat back getting extremely hot while using the "cooled seat" feature. I feel this could cause a burn or fire hazard.

Failure Date: 04/25/2014

Had the same problem as mentioned multiple times in this list. Accelerating past 40 mph, the truck slipped out of gear and rev'd up to about 4000rpm. Did the same thing repeatedly after the first incident. Apparently a broken snap ring. Hard to believe this is not considered a safety hazard, and something that should be fixed via recall??.
