37 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 09/06/2018

My 2013 Ford F-150 fx4 3. 5l v6 automatic transmission is jumping, gets stuck in the first gear or sometimes 5th gear. Have to put the vehicle in park and then sometimes shut it off and turn it back on. Driving at 30 miles an hour at times it would jump and buck hard. Took it to the dealer. They had it for about a week and were unable to duplicate the problem. This issue is very irritating and it feels very dangerous to me. Trying to pull out into traffic and then the transmission starts to jump around or is stuck in 5th and you cant get moving is dangerous. The dealer would not offer a repair because they could not duplicate the problem while they had it. But of course it happened on the way home after I picked it up. It is random, but happens every few days.

39 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2012 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/20/2018

Around the beginning of July this year as I was driving around my speedometer and digital gauges on my 2012 Ford F-150 quit working and the truck began shifting very hard. I was able to pull over and restart the engine, and upon doing so it began normal operation. Over the course of the next couple weeks it did this same thing approximately four (4) more times. The last time was the most serious as I was driving down the highway about 65mph when my truck suddenly dropped into first gear and almost forced me off the road along with my two (2) year old daughter who was riding with me. I was able to maintain control and guide the truck off the roadway. However, this time upon restart the truck, while parked, was continuously revving at about 6,000rpm's. Upon a second restart it went back to normal operation. I called my local Ford dealership, cavalier Ford chesapeake square, and spoke with lindsay givens who told me it would be a "hot minute" before someone could look at my truck. I dropped it off after hours that night (07/20/18) with a written description of the problems. I was later contacted on 07/24/18, by phil causey, saying they were going to take a look at my truck the following day. I never heard anymore and upon calling the dealership on 07/27/18, and speaking to tanya howard, I was advised my truck still hadn't been looked at and phil was off until the following week. On 07/31/18 I received a call from phil and he stated that while they were driving my truck around it got stuck in first gear on them as well, and they located the problem in the leadframe of my transmission. The diagnostics shows my truck read codes p0722 and p072. This recall https://media. Ford. Com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2016/04/27/Ford-motor-company-issues-three-safety-recalls-and-two-safety-CO. Html covers this exact problem on my vehicle, however Ford will not honor it.

40 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/20/2018

While traveling at 50-60mph the speedometer drops to 0 and the transmission slams down to first gear and then shoots right back up to sixth gear. It happened on several occasions while driving on the freeway and state highways. On one occasion the speedometer stayed at zero even though I was still traveling at 45-50 mph and the transmission was stuck in 5th gear. Even when I pulled over and put the car into park it was still telling me it was in 5th gear. This condition is very scary especially when traveling at a fairly high rate of speed. I can't imagine what might have happened if I was towing my boat when this sudden down shift occurred. My two youngest children were in the vehicle with me on the most recent occurrence, which made the situation more nerve racking. My dealer diagnosed it as a faulty output speed sensor on the transmission lead frame. I know there is a recall for Ford f150's 2011 and 2012 model years with this same exact issue. I think this recall needs to be expanded to 2013 models as the same thing is still occurring in this model year. I have a video of two occurrences if you would want me to submit it but it looks like I can only upload pictures.

41 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/15/2018

Beginning approximately 9 months ago, when I purchased this vehicle, it began suffering sudden down shifts. At highway speeds it would suddenly drop into third gear, or first gear, very dramatic! very scary! sometimes it would get stuck in first gear when I pulled away from a stop sign and, while in heavy traffic, I had to find a way to pull over and shut off the car and restart it to clear this fault. Sometimes the fault would not clear when I restarted the truck. This began happening more and more frequently and I was very concerned for the safety and well-being of my family, wife and two children. We purchased this as a family and work truck and suddenly we felt our lives were in danger driving it. I learned there was a recall on 2011 F-150s for this very problem but was told my particular truck was not covered in this recall. No reason was given. I opted to pay for the repair myself and it solved the problem. That was a little over a month ago and we have not had a single recurrence of the fault since I paid for the repair. During a phone call with Ford motor company I was promised by their employee shay, employee number to 19116 3, that for it would be fully covering my repair. Cas - 17206 574 they did cover a repair number one nine s07, but the mechanic in charge at valley Ford in kalispell montana told me I needed 16 n 02. Once 16 n02 had been performed my truck no longer has suffered any downshift or transmission errors. It is my belief that my truck and many like it should be included in the 16n02 recall. Thank you for your time.

42 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/13/2018

2011 Ford F-150 lariat 5. 0. 132,000 miles. 16n02 molded leadframe extended coverage 2011-2012 Ford & Lincoln. My F-150 built in January 2011 at kansas city assembly is not covered by the current extended warranty coverage due to the range of months covered in 2011. My truck downshifted while driving. The wrench indicator illuminated and the truck would only go into 5th gear after I stopped and cycled the key. When driving to the dealership in limp mode, it downshifted again and was stuck in 3rd gear. Dealer is replacing the lead frame, electrical sleeve, and the necessary filter, fluid, and pan gasket. They admit it is the same issue as the TSB but I am not covered. Ford customer service was unwilling to help. Lucky for me this issue happened on a back road close to home. It is obvious this is a known defect and I would like to see the current coverage extended to include all affected vehicles. Ford should not be making money in the service lane off this defective transmission safety issue. I don't just feel that myself and others should be reimbursed. I know we should.

44 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 04/10/2018

Transmission malfunction, will not engage when vehicle is stopped. Seems like it is stuck in 5th gear. Odo reads ------, airbag and seat belt light comes on. Speedometer goes to zero. When I turn engine off and back on, it operates normal for a few miles. Was almost t-boned by semi this morning because the transmission would not engage when I pulled into intersection.

45 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

Without warning my rear wheels & drivetrain locked up while driving. My vehicle suddenly lost control and I had to drive into the grassy shoulder at around 35 mph to avoid being in traffic. As the problem was occuring, the speedometer went to 0 mph and the airbag light illuminated. The vehicle mileage in the cluster showed all dashes. The transmission felt like it was disconnected from the engine, and transmission was stuck in 5th gear at low vehicle speeds. I cycled the ignition, and truck drove normally after that. This is an intermittent problem and very dangerous to drive with as vehicle will lose power and transmission can shift to 1st gear at high vehicle speeds. My vehicle has the 6r80 faulty transmission with the same type of 6r80 molded lead frame defect problem reported in previous f150 model years. Upon contacting dealership they seemed like they never heard of the issue before. Ford should issue a recall for all vehicles with p0722 output shaft speed sensor diagnostic trouble codes. A simple electrical issue on a $100 part should not cause this type of dangerous reaction. See Ford TSB 13-4-9 and 13-2-3 and recall #16v248000 that should apply to all 2013 F-150's too.

48 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

49 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2013 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/15/2016

On this vehicle, I rarely use 4wd, except in winter conditions. I could not get the vehicle out of 4wd low back into 4x2, even while the foot was on the brake and in neutral. I attempted to drive over a small pile of shoveled snow at the end of my driveway entering a city street and I shifted it into 4wd low. The vehicle was in neutral and the brake was applied. It made a horrible grinding and then a "thud" from the powertrain and lurched forward. After I was out of the driveway I decided to take it out of 4wd low, so I stopped, and with the brake applied, I shifted to neutral and then selected 4wd high. The vehicle advised to pull forward so I shifted to drive and nothing happened. The vehicle would not move and had a very high rpm. And the speedometer started climbing. I then shifted back to neutral and then tried reverse. Same result, I got the same, no movement high rpm and then all of a sudden the gears started to grind horribly! I immediately shifted back to neutral. I even attempted to shift to 4x2, but still would not move. It seemed as it was stuck in between gears. I then had to get out of the vehicle while in neutral and pushed the vehicle forward, as this is what the onboard system was saying. It wanted you to pull forward, but nothing was engaged to let you pull forward. No other option than to push. After a few tries of this pushing and shifting method, it finally decided to catch and it slammed back into 4wd high, but it also sounded like the front end of the truck was being ripped apart at that point. It was in gear for me and moving again though, and I was able to shift it back into 4x2 immediately.

50 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2011 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

Ecoboost engine. Loud clattering on cold start. Runs very rough, exhibits propensity to stall when idling, and very sluggish acceleration coupled with transmission issues. Example 1: coasting on the freeway with traffic around 40mph, shifted lanes, then made attempt to accelerate and pass another vehicle, but the vehicle did not downshift. Accelerator will be down to the floor, and truck will remain stuck in a low gear (like 6th) and go nowhere. . . Zero acceleration. . . After a few more tries, and a few seconds later, the transmission will slam into 2nd gear, shaking the entire truck. At this point, the turbos kick in and the truck takes off like a rocket. Creates 2 dangerous situations, a potential rear-end accident by the lane change without acceleration, and then the sudden, rapid, unpredictable acceleration of being randomly thrown into 2nd gear. Seen various other incidents like this in other scenarios and various gears. Accelerating out of a traffic circle, or out of a turn, is an easy way to see the problem. Truck has basically lost its ability to accelerate/downshift on demand. Example 2: stopped at a stop sign. When I then proceed into intersection. . . Acceleration is very slow, then all of a sudden turbos kick in resulting in rapid unpredictable acceleration. Often times, the wheels will spin, and if the road is dry, the truck will bounce up and down all over the road! accelerator will in the same position the entire time. I have rapidly accelerated towards cars that I didn't want to get that close to. I now have to stay even further away from cars to maintain a safe distance due to unpredictable acceleration. Frustrating, because the problem is frequent now, but inconsistent. I have 2 kids in booster seats, and now I have to be especially careful when I drive with them in this truck because I feel it's unsafe.

53 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2004 Ford F-150

Failure Date: 12/31/2009

1. Driving the truck at about 60 mph and heard a strange winding sound. 2. Began to slow down to pull over and the truck seemed to go into a lower gear than warranted by the speed. Pulled truck over and put truck in park then back in drive. Drove in parking lot about 50 feet and it felt like it was in 4wd. Stopped truck and moved the 4wd selection knob to 4wh, and then 4wl and back to 2wd. Attempted to drive truck in parking lot again. Truck seemed to be stuck in 1st gear. Trans fault displayed on lcd display and o/d light was constantly blinking. Read owners manual and it said the truck the truck would go into "limp mode" intended to allow you to drive at a slow speed. While driving in limp mode at about 15-20 mph the transmission seemed to lock up. Pulled truck over again and put it in park. Tried one more time to put it in drive and get home in limp mode, limp mode allowed us to get home. 3. No repair attempt has been made as of yet due to the anticipated high cost.
