37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/06/2025

The upper fuel filter plastic housing cracks and leaks fuel on hot parts and has produced fires on other vehicles, not this one. I have had this replaced twice in the past, this will be the third time. There are no warning lamps or other warnings. Only the smell of fuel.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/02/2025

While driving on freeway, engine started to miss/hesitate. No check engine light. Miss/hesitation started to get more frequency and started smelling gas. No check engine light. Took offramp and truck died at stop sign. Pushed truck to gas station. Once out of truck, the smell of gas was prominent. Checked under hood and saw nothing unusual. Looked under truck on driver side and saw gas dripping from the transmission to the bumper under the truck. Looked under passenger side and saw more gas. Walked around to driver side, opened the driver door (which turns the fuel pump on) and saw gas spraying from under the truck. Got under the truck and determined that the supply connector on front side of fuel tank was disconnected. I reconnected the connector, clipped it locked, checked for leaks and restarted engine. There have been no further problems. Determined that approximately 10 plus gallons of gas sprayed under the truck. Approximate milage at time of incident was 6500 miles, current mileage is 6900 miles. I have purchased and plan to replace the following Ford part numbers per the Ford workshop manual which contains the connector and downstream fuel line: pc3z 9j280, lc3z 9s278.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

My truck started having the extended start a couple of years ago. It seems when it's warmer outside, sometimes, it will crank for an excessive amount of time before it will start. It was very intermittent and hard to determine exactly when this would occur. Someone told me it was the fuel pump and that the fuel pumps in certain Ford super duty models were just faulty. A couple of weeks ago, I was pulling onto the highway from a stop. My check engine light came on and the truck almost stalled. There was a vehicle that had to brake suddenly to avoid this. Now I notice that when I give the truck gas when it's in a higher gear, it hesitates and starts jerking back and forth. I can't drive it now. I know it's the fuel pump. I also have a neighbor that has a 2019 F-250 truck and his truck is doing the exact same thing right now. He said he's had the extended crank for a few years occur to him as well. He contacted the dealership and they told him it's a known issue with the fuel pumps in the super duty trucks. There are many videos online of folks reporting the exact same thing as my truck and my neighbors truck. However, we have gas engines and not the diesel engines. I feel the recent recall should be extended to all super duty trucks and don't just think it's an issue with the diesel trucks. I'm just wondering if anyone has looked into all the fuel pumps Ford is putting into their super duty trucks. It's crazy how so many people are having problems with them whether they have the gas engine or the diesel engines. Thanks!.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/28/2024

Engine started to tick and loss of power, had it hauled to Ford dealership in tulia TX to later find out that it had faulty rocker arms which is a known problem after calling around asking other dealerships if they have seen other pickups come in with the same issue! after digging further into the motor they found that the fuel system was going bad and also would have to be replaced which is also a well known issue after Ford recalled 300,000 of these pickups with the same issue.

41 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/25/2024

On a very busy freeway truck started making a noise and losing power. 18 wheelers are coming up fast behind us and honking at us not knowing we are losing power and can not pull over because we are going over a bridge. The truck continued to lose power and messages started to appear saying powering down. We made it off the freeway and the truck completed died on us. Could not start. Had to call a wrecker and be towed over 100 miles back home. Well over $450. 00. The next day called a mobile diagnosis that was $175. 00 to tell us it was the fuel system. Got quoted from the Ford dealership $15k to repair so we took it to cs automotive. They charged us $13,0000 for the repair. Shortly after getting the repair done, Ford issued a recall on 2018 Ford f250 for the same issue as our 2018 Ford f250 but our VIN # was not included in the recall. It is clearly the same issue and we were told they will not do anything as our VIN # was not in the recall.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/24/2024

The high pressure fuel pump failed while traveling causing the truck engine to shutdown placing us at risk of a collision when we took the vehicle to Ford dealership in morrilton, ar we were advised that the cp4 pump or high pressure fuel pump failed containing the entire fuel system with metal shavings. The cost to repair this failure is over $13,000 causing us to take out a loan.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/26/2024

This vehicle was manufactured with a defective fuel injector pump that has led to excessive wear and damage to the engine. We have experienced catastrophic failure with a repair estimate pending of over $17,000. When the components failed, our driver was on a dangerous section of road. He was not struck by other traffic, but was left stranded for 7 hours. Our company has purchased 6 of these Ford f250 with 6. 7l engines. Ford needs to issue a recall on these systems.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/17/2024

I bough this truck certified preowned from jenkins chevy of homosassa. Big mistake. The truck has been in the shop more than on the road. The truck keeps refusing to start. We replaced the fuel pump and it ran for a few days then wouldn't start again. I replaced the fuel pump again thinking it was a faulty pump. Ran for a few days again then stopped. I took it to the closest repair shop ( not Ford because I am in big pine key and there is no Ford around) and they hooked it up to the computer to find out it was the fuel rail pressure sensor among other codes. Replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor. Ran for a few days then quit. Now we find out it was the fuel pump relay. This relay is "non serviceable" and quit during driving. Stalled the truck out and wouldn't start again. I am glad I was not on the 7 mile bridge (only 2 lanes) when it died. This si a big problem and could've caused horrible accident!.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/12/2024

The cp4 fuel pump began failing with the truck just over 100k miles. When taken in for routine service there were traces of metal shavings in my fuel. This is a widely known problem with the cp4 and is still being used in Ford trucks. The cost of repairs is substantial. The best case is you catch it early and it only costs between $3-6,000. If I had not caught this and the entire fuel system had been damaged, my local Ford dealership informed me it could cost close to $16,000. This is a devastating amount of money to pay for a well known issue in Ford trucks.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/30/2024

While on vacation, driving down a major interstate, our truck suddenly lost power. The driver slowly navigated to the side of the road and by the time we stopped flames were coming out from under the engine. We quickly got ourselves and three children out of the vehicle that, within minutes, was completely engulfed in flames. It was noted by police and the wrecker company that diesel fuel was on the road behind the truck and on the trailer that we were pulling.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/25/2024

Vehicle shuts off while traveling down the highway with no warning. I was able to not panic as this happened on interstate hwy while in middle lane was able to shift to neutral and restart vehicle shift back in drive and go on. The potential for a much worse result was huge I have to imagine a lot of drivers may not think of what I did and allowed the vehicle to come to a stop on the highway creating an obvious hazard.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

I was driving at a highway speed of 65 mph when suddenly the check engine light came on and the speed quickly dropped to 25 mph. The alert that appeared on the truck computer was low fuel pump pressure. This put myself and my family at risk of a severe accident. The dealership found corrosion in the fuel line and a problem with fuel pump. They felt it was possibly from contaminated fuel. They were working on 3 other vehicles with the same problem. This had not happened before and this is a vehicle driven daily. The term the came up with was a " catastrophic fuel system failure".

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/29/2024

The bjb fuse panel gets water in it . The vehicle produces multiple alarms and the throttle stops working . So when going down the road it goes to a idle and you can't get out of the way of other vehicle's . The Ford dealership said the bjb panels do get water in them but have not heard of them causing this problem. There was a list of alarm's from the fuse panel failure it all happened about the same time .

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/15/2024

On numerous times when you start the truck there is a delay from when you engage drive and the drivetrain gets power. To the point that 1 time the truck rolled back into another destroying their bumper.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/14/2024

At 113,000 miles started going into limp mode because of cp4 fuel pump failure, causing vehicle not to run properly, shop states vehicle needs total fuel system replacement costing $11,000 on a low mileage diesel truck. Ford said it doesn’t fit into current recall, even though manufacturer date suggests it does! also same cp4 pump issues like all the current problematic ones.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/14/2024

A hole has developed in the center of the diesel fuel filter located on the top of the engine. It is spraying fuel all over the top of the engine including the turbo and other high temperature areas.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

I was sold this truck in November 2023 with the emissions deleted and without knowing this was removed/deleted. I did not become aware until 3 weeks ago when I brought my truck into service for a warranty issue with the fuel component. After some back and forth I was then told it would not be covered because I deleted the emissions, but I did not as this was removed prior to the purchase. Then more back and forth and pointing fingers between service and sales and a lot of ummm this should have never been sold to you and no one taking the blame and being told my truck will not be covered. I purchased the truck, have had the oil changed with their service and that's it. Now no one wants to do anything and even purchased an extended warranty!!!.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/03/2024

My vehicle caught on fire. I had been pulling my trailer and I pulled over to park when my truck began smoking. I attempted to open the hood and the truck was on fire. None of the sensors activated and I didn’t have any indication the truck was overheating.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/16/2024

I was driving my truck with no prior issues nor check engine light warnings, suddenly my truck began to lose speed, warning light came on instrument panel stating something to the effect of reduced power, I heard a loud noise (similar to the sound of a tire blown), as I looked out of the drivers side window I observed flames coming from the left front fender well. I was able to pull out of traffic coasting off into the median. Once in the median my wife and myself had to evacuate the truck immediately for our own safety. The engine compartment was rapidly becoming fully involved with fire. Attempted to extinguish fire with three fire extinguishers, called 911 and waited on fire department to arrive. My truck is now a total lose, I have read that your department has received similar issues that I have described. I felt it necessary to report my issue to hopefully help resolve this issue with Ford trucks.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/08/2024

The hose connecting to the fuel filter in the engine compartment came off and dump fuel all over the engine. Luckily we turned it off before a fire started. This has happened 3 times now.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/03/2024

My f250 super duty just completely stopped running while driving down the interstate, I then had the vehicle towed to the Ford dealer where I purchased it in 2015. After the shop examination they found that the high pressure cp4 fuel pump had came apart and contaminated the fuel system entirely. The shop forman called and advised me of the problem and that it would cost 16,000. 00 to have it fixed. He also advised me the this was a ongoing problem that they have had with this particular fuel pump, and that they had recall on the trucks from 2011 to 2018 for this. But he told me that my VIN number was not on the recall list. He said that I would have to pay out of pocket to have the repairs done. I then contacted Ford manufactoring about this, the service lady that I spoke to said that there was nothing they could do because my truck was not on the recall list. To me this is a big safety measure, because when it quit, if I haven't been in an area where I was able to get out off the road there could have been a very serious accident. I feel that an issue like this that Ford knows they have and continue using the same pumps should be there responsibility. I had know visible or any warnings sign of this was going to happen. This truck I purchased new and have put every mile on it and had this truck service very regularly. I have all the service records, just had the fuel filters and oil changed about 2 weeks before this happened. Thank you for your time. Please advise.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/28/2024

Part failure motorcraft fd4615 (secondary filter on top of the engine) it is available for inspection. This occurred approximately 200 miles after installation. Failure resulted in diesel fuel saturating the entire engine compartment, firewall, and underside of the truck. Extreme fire hazard. Failure should be confirmed by mechanic today (it's pretty obvious). No other inspection performed as of yet. No warning lamps/messages/symptoms. Only sign was extreme smell of diesel in the cab. When vehicle stopped, and was inspected, there was diesel dripping from the engine compartment and underside of truck past the transmission. Was driving truck down the road when I turned off on a side road. When I did, there was an extreme smell of diesel. I stopped, and got out of the truck. There was smoke coming from under the hood, and a very substantial amount of diesel running out of the engine bay down towards the transmission. After allowing the vehicle to cool, I popped the hood. The entire engine bay was saturated. Diesel was pooled on top of the intake, as well as running down the side of the engine and firewall. Some smoke was still present. A person who stopped momentarily turned the ignition to the "on" position to see if there was an obvious leak. The center of the top of the fuel filter was spraying fuel out like a geyser, hitting the underside of the hood, and blanketing the engine.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/26/2024

This is the third time I have had to tow this vehicle in less than a year and half for a long crank no start. The fixed a melted wiring harness the first time. Second time couldn't tell me what the problem was but got it running and then now its back at the dealership again for the same problem.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Gas tank/fuel line leaking. Mechanic said I have to buy entire tank.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/27/2024

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated he was driving 60 mph when the vehicle shut down. The reduce engine power light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer service center. The vehicle was diagnosed stating the fuel injection needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/23/2024

Eng light is on and losing throttle. When it loses throttle wrench light comes on. While driving on the interstate, the truck loses power and reduces speed on its own. It is difficult to maneuver to the side of road. It has been towed several times and repaired by more than one Ford dealership. We requested a buy back when the truck was under a year old and akins Ford winder GA. Refused to buy it back. It currently has 37,000 miles and has been sitting at the akins dealership for two weeks. This truck could potentially cause an accident because it decelerates quickly and because of its size it is difficult to steer out of atlanta, GA traffic. I have warned Ford relationship director that someone will be injured in this vehicle. I was informed that I should contact ntsb and the attorney general state of georgia.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/10/2024

The engine light activated on the dash randomly while driving. My truck was experiencing loss of power and for the next few days and reduced fuel mileage. I checked the engine code and learned it is a common error with 2017 Ford super dutys with the 6. 7l diesel engine. The code is “dtc p203b”, sometimes indicated as p203b00 is an obd diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (I. E. Engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the air/fuel mixture causing reductant level sensor circuit range/performance. I believe this error in manufacturing is a safety risk because it is common within these trucks and can leave motorists stranded or potentially disable the vehicle in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

Consistent oil leaks. The cars are manufactured poorly and this is a horrible but common issue that Ford has yet to come up with a fix.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/17/2024

Multiple times, when engaging the throttle, it's as if all power from the engine is cut for a few seconds before it kicks back in.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/13/2024

I’ve been stopped at a stop light and the vehicles starts trying to accelerate on its own. I held the brakes down as hard as a could and the vehicles would start burning rubber on the back tires. This has happened three times.
