Kumho kl78 245/75r16 load range e tire. Purchased a set of kl78 tires in November 2011 for my 3/4 truck. Since the time of purchase I have put less than 20,000 miles on the truck / tires. Three of the tires have developed large deformation across the tread cap, like a bulge. This is a manufacturing safety defect caused by the separation of steel belts of the tire allowing the rubber to deform.

2004 Ford F-250. Consumer writes in regards to the definity dakota a/t system failure
the consumer stated on four separate occasions the tires failed from an out-right blow out or the condition where the tire had started to bulge and deform or split which caused tread separation. One incident left the fender on the vehicle distorted and shifted out of place as well as some trim damage. The most recent incident occurred where the tire had become so mis-shaped and distorted that when the mechanic pulled the tire off the truck, he could not roll the tire. The tire had serious structural damage.

Then in June of last year two of her tires had a bulge. She went to the dealer and he duplicated the wear on tires ,and put some brand new tires on her vehicle. The new tires was the same manufacturer. The contact also stated that on April 1st of this year the truck began to shake, and she saw that there was a bulde on her tires the contact was on a busy highway and she could not change the tires at the point so she was going to drive to a safe place to were she could change the tires while driving down the highway. The tire blew and damaged her vehicle. The dealer said that they would not replace the tires because her vehicle was no longer on warrenty. She contacted the tire manufactuer and they suggested to go through her insurance agency which is aaa. Her insurance agency sent a mechanical evaultor, and he said the tire was defective, and he said that it had tire thread seperation. Purchased 4 goodyear lt30570r16 tires at goodyear dealer in arcadia, FL to replace original equipment firestones to avoid tire problem. Goodyear dealer assured us that larger tire would be adequate and safe for our needs even though we expressed concerns. Continued with travels and in 6/2001 upon crossing the us/canada border on the dirt and gravel road known as 'the top of the world highway' going 25mph towing a 5th wheel the left rear tire split in two crossways. I had to dig a hole in the road and with the help of a friend managed to get the tire changed. This was a very dangerous situation as there was a 1,000 ft drop off of a very narrow road with additional motor vehicles passing due to the us custom's station having just opened for the day. Returned tire to goodyear dealer in fairbanks, ak on 6/26/01. Goodyear replaced the damaged tire and we were forced to purchase a second tire , $243, to have matching tires on the rear of the vehicle. (lt305/70r16 wrangler mtr). Second incident in colorado heading north on I-70, 2 miles from the colorado city exit. Traveling at 60mph down a very steep winding portion of the highway the tire began thumping and the tread separated, but the tire remained inflated. Managed to pull off the side of the highway and was able to change tire. Again, a very dangerous situation at sunset with semis coming around the downhill curve at 75mph. With god's grace we were on a very wide portion of pull off and managed to get the tire changed without incident. The truck sustained damage to the right front fender and door estimated at $1,300. I feel very angry that I have had to endure 2 incidences such as this. There are many reports of this same occurrance with the wrangler tires. I feel that I am just a part of a 'calculated risk' by goodyear. I now have another wrangler at/s tire that is bulging. I am told that I must replace. Dt.
Tire has a bulge in one-half of the tread approximately 16 inches long. I noticed the truck steering out of control and I was able to change the tire before it burst. I still have the tire and it holds air but I intend to replace all my tires within the next week or so. Since it hasn't failed I thought it may be valuable to you for close scrutiny. I also have digital photos if you like. Please let me know within the next week because the tire will be discarded. Thank you. This tire was not involved in the previous firestone recalls. Vehicle fails to stop properly when brakes are applied. Would shake and vibrate badly. Took vehicle to dealership, mechanic noticed rotors were warped, which caused the braking problem. Had them replaced after 10,000 miles. Engine stalls and oil leaks from the turbo into the inter cooler. Transmission does not shift. Tires began to bulge out, consumer did not specify kind of tires. Electric window motor failed. Seals are out on the front axles and they were just replaced two months ago. Air filter system is inadaquet for this size of engine and has to be replaced every 2 to 3 thousand miles.
