Ford F-350 owners have reported 6 problems related to fuel hoses lines/piping and fittings (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford f350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, white smoke started to emit from the rear of the vehicle. After stopping to inspect the vehicle, the contact discovered fuel leaking from the engine area. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel lines below the engine turbo had ruptured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 175,000.

Rear fuel tank strap that holds the fuel tank in position failed. In 2003 Ford had a recall on this truck to install safety straps around the fuel tank in case there was a failure of the main straps. When the rear strap failed the safety strap failed and the only thing holding the tank in the truck was the fuel line. The tank was about 3/4 full if it had separated all together it would have been a disaster and probably a fire.

- the contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350. The contact stated that intermittently while driving, the vehicle would stall for 2-3 minutes, followed by a cloud of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. Engine failure while driving increases the risk for vehicle crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, in which a technician concluded that there was water corrosion in the fuel line. No repairs have been made. The current and failure mileages were 94000.

Fuel line worn, caused by rubbing against another fuel line, resulting in leakage.
Fuel filter failure resulted in high pressure fuel leak that flooded the engine compartment with diesel fuel. Approximately 10 to 12 gallons pumped from tank at high pressure, and sprayed all over engine and engine compartment. Problem was not noticed after picking vehicle up from routine service. Noticed pungent odor which intensified as I was driving home. Dealer stated they did not service fuel filter. When vehicle was picked to be returned to the dealer, diesel fuel came spilling off the top of the engine. Diesel fuel has penetrated the ventilation system and got all over front suspension parts removing paint from these parts. Failure of fuel filter and resultant leak could have resulted in a fire, thank god it did not happen (note- fuel leak was occuring while I was driving home). Will be happy to discuss this issue via telephone to give more details.
