I was inquiring about the delamination of Fords fuel tanks on their f-series diesels. I own a 2000 f350 7. 3l deisel. Last week it began to run as if it wasn't getting fuel so I stoped into a local Ford dealer and their diagnoses was the fuel tank on my f350 started to delaminate and clog the entire fuel system. I have owned this truck since it was new and have done all the maintaince and up-keep as required I haven't had any trouble until after the fuel companies started to change the diesel fuel. I have owned the truck since it was new and never had a problem until just recently. The fuel tank problem was diagnosed last week by a Ford dealer in my area and it will cost aproximently $3600 to repair. My question is, "is there giong to be an investigation on this?" I have found a blog from many other customers that are having the same trouble. Someone else should have to pay for this not the consumer or Ford, unless they new this would be a problem and continued to put metal tanks in instead of plastic. I would greatly appreciate a reply.

Fuel tank strap has broken again. 2nd time for the rear strap, front replaced 1 time. Also replaced gas tank in 2006 due to leak from rusting at seam, tank is starting to leak again. Tank dropped to the street when strap gave way last time, luckily I was going slow on a side street. Speaking with other owners of these trucks,f-350 superduty 2000 cab and chassis most are having or have had the same issues I am having.
Truck runs rough, check engine light come on, fuel sensor error. There seems to be quite a few similar complaints. Dealers stated fuel tanks are corroding. Why has there not been a recall? this is a manufacturing problem. Ford should deal with it. Or made to.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford F-350. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact drove over an uneven road surface and the front end of the vehicle began to shake vigorously. The vehicle would also shake abnormally when decelerating. The contact stated that in addition, the check engine warning light was illuminated, the vehicle would erratically shift, and the fuel tank was delaminating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics but the technicians were unable to determine the cause of the shaking. The technicians were able to determine that the transmission shift sensor and the fuel tank would have to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the transmission was rebuilt. And the transmission shift sensor was replaced. The fuel tank was not replaced. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

This was the first incident of the failure. The vehicle was left in possession of the dealer for repairs. The failure mileage was 57,390 and the current mileage was 57,400.
