Ford F-350 owners have reported 8 problems related to fuel pump (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I tried to accelerate onto interstate 85 n from exit 57 in opelika, al during very busy traffic conditions and could not get above 60 mph, which nearly caused an accident. The Ford dealer diagnosed the problem to be a failed high pressure fuel pump which was not covered by the factory 100,000 mi. Warranty due to what the dealer and a Ford motor CO. Representative from customer relations said was contaminated fuel damage. The 6. 4 l diesel fuel system is equipped with a two filter and fuel/water separator system for the purpose of filtering contaminates, including water, which obviously failed and consequently caused damage to the high pressure fuel pump. All services had been performed at the Ford dealership to include the fuel filters. Ford seems to be placing the blame on contaminated fuel as the cause for the high pressure fuel pump failure when there is a high probability that it is a defect in the filtering system.

While pulling a 30 foot travel trailer tuck suddenly died causing immediate loss of steering and braking power on a very busy highway nearly causing an accident. Had it towed to a diesel shop who scanned to find it to be the high pressure oil and fuel pumps. They said they have done repeated repairs on the same engine with the same problems in the past. Very costly repair over $3000 and 5 days to do.

I was driving the truck away from a traffic light. When the truck reached approximately 20 mph. The engine shut down completely. I lost forward motion, steering control and braking power. I was able to wrestle the truck off the road and into a parking lot. This is a Ford truck powered by a 6. 7 Ford diesel engine. , the truck is generally used to tow a 13000 pound fifth wheel. If I had been towing the fifth wheel, the outcome would surely have been a disaster. Problem turned out to be a totally failed bosch cp4-2 high pressure fuel pump. The pump slowly fails. As the pump travels the path to total destruction, the operator has no warning that the engine will suddenly die. When the truck quits, the operator has lost power steering and power brakes on a 8,500 to 23,500 pound vehicle.
The fuel pump on 1999 f350 4x4 with 38800 miles VIN 1ftsf31s5xed45255 stranded me and the family after travelling 80 miles driving at 65mph near morris, IL. Required a tow truck that took over 2 hours to get us. I am a diabetic and as a consequence of being stranded my blood sugar was too low. Towed to the Ford garage and techs replaced the fuel pump at a cost of $680, the service manager stated that 7 other Ford vehicles were towed in with fuel pump failures. He called Ford to report the problem and was told that it was not Fords fault but too high of a alcohol level in the local gas. That is unacceptable as my wifes Jeep uses the same fuel that I do and her car did not have a fuel pump failure.
