4 Power Steering Hose, Piping, And Connections problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/30/2005

On September 30, 2005 I emailed Ford my concern with the power steering hose failure on my 2000 f350 truck (VIN 1ftwx33f2yec92031, 153,440 km). I subsequently spoke to their customer service representative, and to the supervisor in that department, and could not believe the run-around I received regarding my concern. They claimed they had no access to performance records on vehicles and could not comment on my concern. They simply tried to bounce me back to the dealer, with whom I had already discussed my concern. The dealer advised I communicate with Ford's customer service department and provided me with the email address. Here is what happened. When backing out of my driveway, the power steering and power brakes failed, leaking power steering fluid all over the driveway. Had the vehicle towed to jubilee Ford in saskatoon, saskatchewan for repair. The high pressure line to the hydro-boost was replaced at a cost of $292. 70. I was told the nut at one end of the hose failed. I kept the old hose. My concern is very simple. Because of the very serious consequence of this (losing steering and brake control) happening while driving (ie. Accident causing injury or death), has this occurred with other super duty trucks and should there be a recall for this failure? Ford's engineering department must keep records of this type of failure, as it applies to 1999-2005 super duty trucks, and hence Ford should be able to provide a straight forward answer. I have not been able to obtain this from them.

5 Power Steering Hose, Piping, And Connections problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/07/2003

While driving, the consumer applied the brakes and the reservoir pump failed. Dealer notified. The power steering hose blew out from the power steering reservoir to the hydro booster.

6 Power Steering Hose, Piping, And Connections problem of the 2000 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 04/17/2000

High pressure power steering hose rubbed against front driver's side shock bracket which caused a power steering fluid leak. Could have ultimately resulted in the failure of the hydro-boost pump which would have caused loss of power steering and power brakes. After much delay, part was replaced.
