Ford F-350 owners have reported 119 problems related to service brakes (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford F-350 based on all problems reported for the F-350.
I see there is a software recall update on trailer brake controller but not sure if that is the issue. The manual squeeze brakes did not work first time 5th wheel hooked up. The 7 pin trailer clip goes into a 5 pin harness and a 2 pin harness. The 2 pin is the brake control for the trailer. I traced the wiring to the next connector. . When the wiring was unplugged and replugged in the connection and braking system worked. It is located on driver side next to spare tire. The error was happening on both the truck bed 7 pin connector and hitch connector. So issue had to be in line. The manual squeeze trigger had power because unconnected error shows on dash when squeezed and not prior to that. This puts the issue between trigger and connector split the two 7 pin trailer tow connectors. Also since the trailer is grounded to truck via the hitch it means the positive wire in that connector is the issue.

Released parking brake, placed vehicle in drive and began to move forward, after moving roughly 30ft, the rear tires locked up and the vehicle skid to a stop. Repeated attempts to move the vehicle forward or backwards were unsuccessful. Lifted the rear of the vehicle, removed the rear tires and rotors and found all the parking brake pads completely delaminated (separated) from the shoes (on both sides of the vehicle). 3 out of the 4 linings were also broke. Components are available for inspection. Luckily this occurred in my driveway at slow speeds. Not confirmed by dealer, could not move the vehicle out of my driveway, removed rotors myself. No other individuals have inspected the vehicle. There were no warnings from the vehicle systems.

Going 55 mph down a two lane country road hit a washboard patch of roadway, front end of truck shook violently and loss of steering control and truck pulled to the left into oncoming traffic. Upon reduction of speed shaking ceased and was able to regain control of vehicle. The very next day on the very same patch of roadway exact same incident occurred with the truck. Three days later on a different roadway and going about the same speed 55 mph, the truck violently shook, lost steering and proper braking ability. The truck pulled hard to the left into oncoming traffic and I was not able to regain control until the truck slowed to approx 15 mph. This last incident was about three times worse than the first from a loss of control standpoint. Luckily in all three incidents no one was approaching in the oncoming lane. Very dangerous! I returned the vehicle to my local Ford dealer, they inspected and stated they could not find any worn parts such as ball joints etc but they did replace the front steering stabilizer under warranty, my truck only has 30,000 miles. Doing some online research I see this is a common problem for Ford superduty trucks 2017 and newer. It is known as the "death wobble" aptly named as I am sure someopne has lost their life and/or being seriously injured from this defect.

Vehicle hit a rough spot in the highway and the steering wheel started violently shaking causing me to not be able to control the vehicle, brakes were used to slow the vehicle and the issue stopped. Commonly called the death wobble.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and hauling a trailer, the brake pedal was depressed with the "wiring fault on trailer" message displayed. The contact pressed a button on the steering wheel and cleared the message. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for service. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
[xxx] who performs automotive work out of his residence [xxx] and [xxx] of [xxx] have worked on this vehicle to spite the customer and to gouge the customer in unnecessary fraudulent repairs. They have deliberately set this vehicle up to fail with the braking system, the 6. 0 engine being rebuilt to no avail, and constant driving problems such as pulling to the right and the left when brakes applied, constant overheating, constant oil temperature overheating, shuttering at highway speed, transmission failure, air conditioning failure, coolant system failure, electrical system failure, and every system that they have repaired, continues to fail. They specifically performed work on the electrical wiring and truck keeps blowing fuses. They performed work on the transmission and the transmission failed shortly after. They performed work on the engine and deleted illegally all the emissions egr pollutant controls. They installed faulty wiring for the electric trailer brake controls and the electronic speed controls. They tampered with the air conditioning system causing the compressor to blow out, send metal through the a/c lines, and the belt stopped turning causing the serpentine belt to break, tear the fan shroud apart and shred. They also installed a trailer brake controller that was aftermarket and it caused brake loss and intermittent failure with the service brake system and speed control. Domingo also tuned the computer to make the truck output 550 horsepower which caused the new engine to fail prematurely and the transmission to fail as well. Brought this truck on November 5,2020. It is a Ford F-350 super duty dually . On November 25,2020 the power steering went out couldn't steer truck then within a few mins. Lost the brakes on the truck. Had to hold brakes to floor to get truck stopped beside of road. Look like lost fluid from power steering . Was a good thing on a two lane road with little traffic. Was about to get on interstate highway where this would have been bad with all that traffic and going speed limit . Why would brakes go out if power steering quit?.
On 3 occasions since I bought the pu new on July 24th, 2020 I experienced what the Ford dealer now calls death wobble. The first time happened on sept 2nd while driving down hill pulling my trailer at about 50mph. When I stepped on the brake the steering wheel and brake pedal started to shake violently. I had little control until my speed dropped. I took the pu to the dealer sept 16th. They said they could find no problem and stated if their agent could not experience the problem while driving the pu they could not fix it. On the second time I was driving the pu empty at highway speed and again while braking the steering and brakes shook violently. Up to this point I was thinking the brakes were the problem. I started tracking the brake temperature which showed a large variety of temps for similar driving conditions. I provided the numbers to the dealer. I was told a few days later on oct 29th that the temps were normal and my driving style needed to be adjusted for a vehicle of this type. On the third time Nov 15th I was again pulling the trailer but this time at 40mph in wet and snowy conditions when I stepped on the brake I experienced the shaking to the point of losing control. When I took the pu to the dealer with just 8000 miles on the truck they again said they could do nothing without their agent seeing the problem themselves. But this time on the paperwork they described the problem as death wobble. I checked the NHTSA site finding several complaints similar to mine. The internet is also loaded with complaints and possible fixes since Ford won't or can't fix the problem. Ford clearly knows this problem exists because they have put a name to the problem but they are doing nothing on my pu (and many others) to fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving downhill at 45 mph, the vehicle shut-off without warning. The contact stated the brakes and power steering failed to operate as needed. The contact stated he continued driving the vehicle until he regained control of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to mac haik Ford jackson (6130 I-55, jackson, ms 39211) and the vehicle diagnosed with contaminated diesel fuel. The contact stated his insurance company sent an insurance adjuster to inspect the vehicle and it was determined that the failure was with the fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I was driving home late one night from work, running about 55-60 and the steering wheel and truck started violently shaking and got worse as I tried to apply brakes. It caused me to run off the side of the road into a farm field(luckily no damage)! so I shut the truck off and checked everything, I thought a wheel was falling off or something but everything was good, so I slowly drove home and would start to feel the steering wheel shake when I would apply brakes but nothing like before.
While driving my vehicle to get on to the freeway, the engine started revving and rattling I could smell something burning. When I tried to press on the brakes it wasn't working than the steering locked. I hit my emergency breaks put on my hazard light and turned off the car until a police officer arrived. I purchased the vehicle on 2/28/2020 and when I returned to pick up the truck the next day they could not produce the keys, this took about 2 weeks. On 04/06/2020 approx. 2 weeks after picking up the truck the it wouldn't start, I jumped the truck at which time there was a rattling and knocking sound in the engine, I took it back to the dealership for servicing. I got the truck back again a little over 2 weeks later on 04/23/2020. I feel the truck is so unsafe that it will cause me to get into an accident placing my life that of my family or another driver in a separate vehicle at stake. Upon reviewing all of the documents none of the documents have the same odometer reading and the number is approx. 24000 off.

Truck hit bump (small curb) with driver's side front wheel and simultaneously started accelerating and had total brake loss. This happened while driving towards a gas bump in a filling station. Vehicle accelerated from about 10 mph to probably over 30 mph until it hit a stationary truck.
Paeking brake backing plates completely rusted through when replacong brake rotors. Forums say this is a common problem. Ford should powder coat the parts. If this prone to rust. May cause wheel. Lock at high speed.

During speeds 50 mph or above the front of truck will shake violently losing control of steer and breaking. It only takes the edge of a cement transition between regular road and bridge or some basic rough spots to start the violent shaking. During speeds between 35 and 50 after driving over rough road front will shimmy and smoothout. I have had 3 near misses with other vehicles due to the extreme and violent shaking. Yesterday was a near miss with a semi-truck, and did not gain control until after crossing over three lanes of I-435 traffic outside of kansas city. I went by Ford today, and they have had many complaints for same reason. This is an extreme safety issue. I should have been notified that this model of truck is developing drivability issues that can kill.
****note - need more information. Contacted consumer 12/9/*** tl the contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. While driving 70 mph, the abs engaged without warning. The contact managed to turn the vehicle off and back on and it resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to matthews currie Ford (130 n tamiami trail, nokomis, FL 34275, (800) 248-2378) where it was test driven, but the dealer was unable to duplicate that failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: cas-25090937. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 15,600. The VIN was unknown.
I started my truck and started down my driveway. The steering wheel was very hard to turn so I attempted to stop and the power brakes were out as well and only had manual brakes so I had to pull the steering wheel hard to turn and press the brakes very hard to stop the truck. I stopped the truck, turned it off then back on and the steering wheel with a whine and the brakes worked but not fully. It felt like the abs was attempting to kick in when pressing the brake pedal. I took the truck to the dealership and they said the power steering pump went out and needs replaced. The truck has 29, 618 miles.

The truck violently shaked out of control while traveling between 50 and 70 miles per hour after hitting various rough road conditions on the freeway. Everything from expansion joints to small potholes. The dealer changed the steering stabilizer to the updated model, but the truck still shakes while going over these road conditions, but does not wobble out of control. "death wobble" truck began this vibration at 10,000 miles, and the wobble took place three times beginning at 13,000.
4 months ago I was traveling at 50 mph. While driving my Ford f350 superduty at that speed the truck had an extremely bad and violent shake in the steering wheel. During this time I had no steering control, braking was at a very minimal, and pulled the truck into oncoming traffic. This has happened 6 other times in the past 4 months. During this time Ford mechanics have told me that this doesnt appear to be a common issue since it doesnt happen all the time. I replaced shocks, tires, and even had the suspension looked at by certified mechanics and nobody has an answer for this problem. This problem is a known issue by NHTSA and Ford and nobody seems to be doing anything to fix this issue. It's getting to the point where I cannot drive my only mode of transportation for fear of causing a serious accident injuring or killing myself, my family, or someone else in the road. If an investigation is not done very soon I will seek legal action against Ford and against the NHTSA for overlooking the severity of this problem. You can read all the other reports on what the internet is calling the death wabble. This is not an isolated situation and if I need to bring this to the attention of the news so it's more public I will do this.
I was driving my 2018 f350 crew cab dually deisel traveling at approx. 55mph down a hill. I was towing my 20ft equipment trailer with my tractor on it for a combined weight of about 6k pounds. As I was traveling down this hill, I hit a pothole and immediately lost control of my vehicle as the steering wheel shook so violently, I couldn't keep my hands on it. I panicked and did what I could, which was slam on the brakes, which made the steering wheel shake even worse. As my truck was all over the road and my trailer fish tailing behind me, my passenger and I braced for impact. As the truck decreased in speed, I was finally able to regain control of the truck. My Ford has 11, 800 miles on it. I purchased the truck used with 11, 400 miles on it, and now I'm beginning to realize why such a beautiful truck was traded in. I will be contacting my nearest Ford dealership on Monday. I'm just happy that I didnt kill anyone and was able to go home safe at the end of the day.
Truck started missing and backfiring when accelerating from a stop, lost power assist to brakes, limped 1/2 mile to my house . Engine was clattering , missing, stalling and backfiring. Check engine light on code p0307. Broke #7 valve spring(intake) , lost keepers, dropped valve , which piston hit, Ford dealer say it needs an engine for $10,300. 00 and no coverage at 69,000. Broken valve springs are a known problem . Dangerous when you lose power assist to brake pedal because of no vacuum. Request Ford service to assist because springs are defective.

Takata inflators; my vehicle started all types of problems intermittent ones that cost me several thousand dollars never fixing the problem this is were it all began,,. My vehicle died going up fairly steep hill to grave yard, it immediately rolled back shoving a family members vehicle down hill a ways until they turned away from the cliff edge leaving me all alone. Until going through a run off ditch stopping over it into 2 trees. I had no steering no brakes and thank god the trees were there to stop my truck if not their was a 100 foot cliff next. . I know nothing about recalls or such I just tried to fix my truck problem by problem as symptoms came on I have all types of recent receipts that all came from silverish dark maybe even gray matter stuff in the tank. When I get my bank statement I will itemize all and submit them when final cost is over.

Lost all brake pressure whilst driving on the highway. I had to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor to stop.
2014 f350 crew cab w/long bed diesel I parked on sloped driveway with snow under passenger tires. I placed in park but did not set parking brake. Walked away from vehicle and in about 5 minutes the truck rolled down driveway 12 feet. The two drivers wheels were both rolling, I'm not sure if passenger wheels rolled or slid. Why does the transmission (in park ) allow those drivers side wheels to roll? is this normal?.

As I am sure you must be aware of this issue: I purchased used a 2003 Ford -f350. I had many issues and had worked most of them out. There were many issues that were possible I was clearly unaware of. One being of utmost safety to myself and others. My high pressure oil pump located inside the engine of my 2003 Ford F-350 6. 0 diesel failed. When that happens the engine stops. The high pressure oil pump provides needed pressure to the injectors in order to have a running engine. Being parked and the hpop failing is one thing however driving 55mph on a 2 lane highway against oncoming traffic on a turn is a very bad situation. I am fortunate that I am still very strong at the age of 54. My hpop failed going 55mph on a long left hand turn. As the engine shuts down by brakes are limited to a small amount of storage and then they fail. The steering however fails immediately. I was heading strait head on I to a tracktor trailer rig. It took every ounce of strength to attempt to steer this vehicle out of the other land and brake getting it off the road ASAP. If the big rig had not made an attempt to miss me, I wouldnt be sending this letter. I wonder how many other people had not the strength to steer out of a situation or have time to stop and were killed. The report most likely said" driver fell asleep. " or something to that affect. There is no way this engine should be allowed to continue operation on the road period. Ford should honor all current owners of this vehicle with a very reasonable settlement not to mention having a formal investigation into this matter. I know of no other vehicles on the road that have such an issue. Complete failure of steering and brakes due to an unforeseen internal mechanical issue is a very poor design. Running out of fuel is one thing, however running out of control is absurd. Had I know who to write too sooner I would have.

In addition, the engine cooling fan had holes. The vehicle was not inspected and diagnosed by a dealer yet. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine cooling fan, front and rear brakes needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had issued 5 TSB on the brake system, a TSB # 16518 concerning the engine cooling fan but had not issued a recall for the engine cooling fan failure. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The manufacturer was notified of the failure to determine if they may provide a remedy repair from a dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000. Dyd.

The truck shuts off at while running. This happens at both highway speeds and while stopped. I have taken it to the dealer but they cannot find out what has happened. When the truck shuts of the steering and brakes are not working to the level that is needed to stop the vehicle or control the vehicle, and it appear they are power asisted from the motor, so when the motor stalls they are lost.
Started vehicle, placed in reverse to back out of driveway, at end of driveway stepped on break and did not stop, pressed hard and stopped. Put truck in drive to get back on driveway and almost hit garage door as breaks did not work normally so I pressed emergency break. Shut off truck, restarted and breaks worked fine. Thought it was a computer glitch and restart corrected. Drove next several days with no problem, then on way home from store I again lost normal breaking and had no power steering . I was doing approximately 30 miles per hour on a city street. Pulled over, shut off truck and restarted but this time that did not correct problem. Drove about 1 mile to Ford dealer and turned over for repair. The vehicle only has 17k miles on it. They diagnosed the power steering pump to be bad and replaced. I have not had problem since the repair. I have about 30 miles since repair. The problem is that I received no failure or warning lights, started intermittent and if I would of been driving other different conditions I would likely of been in a serious accident. If my wife was driving she would of not been able to stop or steer the truck. I have normal strength for a 60 year old man and I could barely stop and steer the truck. If I was pull an RV I would of been in a very bad situation. I am concerned that there was no warning and concerned that after first failure it seemed to reset thus assuming a computer issue. Seems strange that a mechanical pump failed and then started working for several days before failing again. After the first failure that corrected itself, I did go to Ford dealer where I bought the car and they said they were not aware of any issues but if it happens again bring the truck in to be checked. Unfortunately, I was 60miles from my purchasing dealer so went to closest Ford dealer for the repair.
Brakes are spongy and take longer to respond in a critical stop.
Ford e-350 2017 has a brake problem. I drove around trip from baltimore to bowie, MD where self storage zone place. With the vehicle, I was not able to stop the vehicle before the vehicle ran through the gate itself. Brake was frozen and unable to press the brake but the brake was released after the gate was broken then I stopped it immediately. Its engine powerful run slow itself despite I stopped it but it continued to run through gate despite I applied the brake. There was skid on the road though brake was not working.
The vehicle was parked on an incline, with the front of the truck pointing up the slope. The transmission was shifted from drive to neutral, the parking brake was applied, and then the transmission was shifted from neutral to park. The vehicle was left unattended, and shortly after that, it rolled 10-15 feet backwards, with the transmission in park, and the parking brake fully applied. It was found stopped on level ground. Upon realizing what happened, I repeated the parking process using the same shift sequence, d-n-p, with the same results. Additionally, I tried parking the truck pointing down a slope. In this situation, the truck rolled forward, and had to be stopped using the brake pedal. I immediately took the truck to the dealer who I bought it from. They could not replicate the problem and took no action to investigate or repair the transmission.
