5 Tire Blowout problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/28/2015

Truck starts to have a vibration and at higher speed gets worse by the time you think it may be a bad tire you may get pulled over before it blows out or it blows doing extensive vehicle damage before you get stopped. Between 04/15/09 to 08/16/12 I purchased 6 uniroyal laredo 265/75r16 tires for 2003 F-350 Ford truck. On 9/15/2910 a tire separated and had a huge knot and adjusted with a new tire. On 8/16/2012 another tire separated and had a knot it was replaced and adjusted with a new tire. Since 2012 every one of the 6 tires has separated and had a knot. 2 blew completely before I could get stopped doing extensive vehicle damage. The left front blew out in may of this year taking me directly into incoming traffic and almost hitting a couple headon on a motorcycle and then ending up in the incoming vechicles road ditch at 65 mph. The tire store reccomended to not use the uniroyal laredos because this has become a common qa issue with this tire. The technician showed me where the tires start to come apart. I left 2 uniroyal laredos on the rear wheels and the tire techinician looked at the tires and he said they still looked operable in less than 2 weeks left rear started vibrating and it had a knot on it. So now all uniroyal laredos have been replaced with bfg tires. 6 out of 6 tires all went bad and the tire stores know these uniroyal tires are defective and yet uniroyal has done nothing to fix the problem or recalled the tire. This is a extremely dangerous safety issue when a tire blows on the front you have no control over the truck your just a bomb heading to incoming traffic.

Reporting bf goodrich commercial ta tires: size 245r7517 this is the 2nd incident involving the bf goodrich tires on the same vehicle. 1st accident (2012) . . . Tire blew-up on right front causing in exess of $3,000 to truck, rim and side board. Type of vehicle is a Ford F-350 super duty dual wheel crew cab. We have used bf goodrich for years until incident #2 on may 20,2013. This incident caused approx. $2,600. 00 on right rear, inner tire blow-out. The tire actually threw the entire tread off leaving the belts on top of the inner tire. After calling bf goodrich, they claim no other complaints have been filed or registered with the 17" bf goodrich commercial ta and I would have to send the tire to them for lab inspection. Prior to this accident, we inspected visually all tires to meet d. O. T requirements. Estimating tread wear, etc, we feel this tire still had around 7000 to 10000 miles before bars would show. We have taken pictures of the tire before sending to bf goodrich. A statement from the driver is available. The tire started making a "thump" sound right before coming apart. I have my doubts this company will replace any tire(s) or assume any damages. It will probably take more severe cases before there is a recall or damages accepted by bf goodrich.

Here's what happened on 7-26-09 I was on my way back to fort worth from austin, TX from a trade show when about 3:00 pm on hwy I-35e 19 miles south of waco TX the I felt a sudden vibration and thumping in the front. I started to slow down to get off the road to check it out when front left tire blew out, causing the truck to severely veer to the left trying my best to keep the truck from rolling, then hitting the concrete guard rail which deflected the truck enough to slide down the barrier for about two hundred feet till it stopped. I felt lucky to be alive. If I would have been in the right lane at the time I would have taken cars out as well. I was able put the spare on and limp back home this is the third tire out of the four all the same batch I have had thrown tread and the last was blow out! all installed at the same time and brand. First one threw tread on 10-14-08 left rear did some damage. Ok things happen, I have warranty on it from discount tires, they replaced it. . Then the next threw off it's on 7-21-09 right rear tire. Discount tire replaces it too. . I had them look at the others tires and check for defects, everything was fine. . Five days later this blow out on the drivers front three tires throwing tread in 9 months and two with in a week I was thinking this is not a coincidence, this is the definite sign of defective tires. I still have one more tire on the truck which looks perfectly good. . I will ask to have replaced as well. I'm not having any luck with michelin . . They gave me a generic excuse and are not willing to do any repairs to my truck this is why I need your help!.
