Ford F-350 owners have reported 8 problems related to tire bulge (under the tire category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
We were driving on the interstate and noticed the vehicle was shaking. When we arrived at our destination we found that the right rear tire has a large bulge on the tread of the tire. We went on line to investigate these type of tires and found that cooper tire CO. Had a recall on those similar type of tires however, we have the mt style tire and they had recalled the rt style due to steel cords busting in the tires. The recall is for the exact same tire except that ours are a mud terrain and the recall is for the radial tread tire.

On 9/23/2008 I ordered and received 4 dayton (e) rated 265/75r/16 tires from h&f tire in lancaster, PA. They are made by firestone/ bridgestone. I mounted, balanced, and installed them on a customers f350 supercab work truck. On 9/25 I ordered 4 more of the same tires for the same customers other work truck. On 9/26 there was a rim and tire left at my front door that had a large bulge on the sidewall. It was one of the tires that I installed 2 days prior. I ordered a replacement. I installed brakes and the new tires on the second truck. The owner (amish) his two children and a driver picked up the truck the following day. I was called within 10 minutes of their departure and told a tire had just "blew up". I grabbed the replacement tire from the 1st truck and ran to assist them. I was shocked at what I saw. The tire exploded and nearly tore in half. They were shook up, but not injured as the driver got the truck into a driveway safely. I was questioned but could give no answers. 2 days later another tire bulged and went down. H&f stated it was install damage. I asked them to show me how? on 9/30 2 replacement tire were sent. Why would they continue to sent tires if I am damaging them? I checked out the tires before mounting and 1 tire clearly has defects in the cord area consistent with where the tires are coming apart. 1 rep from h&f and 2 from firestone came and acknowledged, circled, and photographed the areas and wanted to take the tire. I refused to give it up. They have the other 3. I was billed for 12tires and a finance charge for not paying last month. I paid the bill and demanded the other tires back. The tire I have was never mounted at this shop. The tires are either manufacturing related or these tire were mounted, dismounted, and sold as new which I have been told is not the case. I will take a lie detect test stating I am not damaging these tires. The question is, why isn't anyone concerned about the 8 tires on my customers 10,000 lb trucks.
I first bought pro comp tires a couple of years a go. Within ten thousand miles I had a bulge on one tire and a vibration at 55 mph and over. I took the truck into 4wheel parts as that is where they were purchased. I had two bad tires according to them and they replaced them which cost me approximately $200. After a trip to arizona and less than 7000 miles I started having a vibration problem again. Took back to 4wheel parts and they said one was coming apart and one was out of balance. It cost me $150 this time. I told them that the cost were inapropriate as pro comp is a company that they own. Told me that I would have to take it up with pro comp. These tires are a danger to the public and most importantly the ones that buy them. My tires are e rated for my truck and have never had a problem with big o tires or bfgs. My tires are always in good shape as I tow a fifth wheel. Look into this matter please. I will be replacing mine as soon as I have the money and just will eat the cost as safety is the most important for me and my family along with the public that I serve. I do not have the tires as 4wheel parts has kept them.

: the contact stated that the tread of the vehicle's front passenger tire separated from the tire itself while traveling 55 mph on a dry and flat county road. The tire was still inflated however the steel belts never separated. There was no vibration noticed or abnormal bulging to the tire prior to and after the incident. The tires on the vehicle were rotated regularly and checked for correct tire pressure as well.

I currently own a 2000 Ford f350 truck with the original firestone steeltex a/t, lt265/75r16 tires that came original on the truck when I purchased it brand new. The truck now has about 28,000 miles and I have had the Ford dealership perform all standard maintenance including tire rotations. The tires until just recently have all worn very evenly and I would estimate their wear at about 50-60% with pleanty of tread left on the tires. On Saturday September 6th, 2003 I was driving on the highway with four passengers at approximately 70 mph. Suddenly the truck became unstable and begin shaking as well as pulling the steering very hard toward the right. I was able to get pulled over, and begin to inspect the truck to see if I could tell what was causing the problem when I noticed that my front left tire had a large bulge in the center of the tire tread which appeared to go all the way around the tire. Thankfully the tire did not come apart at highway speed, however I am extrememly confident that it would have very soon. The tire has a very definite failure, and very premature based on the current mileage of the vehicle. I have seen the reports, etc. Concerning the past failures with firestone tires all around the time I purchased this vehicle and it sounds like there are many other complaints concerning the steeltex tires as well. Please feel free to share my concern with the manufacturer and if there truly is a problem with these tires, I only hope that this complaint might save a life. I put my spare on the truck and I have the truck at the dealership right now to inspect the tire. I have also called firestone and have a plan to take it to a firestone store if the Ford dealership is not willing to replace my tires under warranty, or at least provide a fair amount towards new tires. Thank you,
justin earl dauenbaugh.
