1 Tire problem of the 2009 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 11/27/2024

My truck has the death wobble for the second time. I took it to red mccombs Ford in san antonio, texas and they charged me to fix what is an inherently bad design flaw in the f350 that I own. The wobble stopped and has now reappeared. The death wobble is real. I want it fixed for free or I want Ford to buy my truck for top dollar.

3 Tire problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/21/2024

Goodyear wrangler all-terrain adventure, lt265/70r18. On [xxx] at 113806 miles, I discovered that the driver's side front tire on the vehicle was flat in my driveway. Investigation revealed a puncture in the tread of the tire, caused by a gravel stone still lodged in the tire. Based on the amount of protrusion of the stone and the lack of any visible wear on it, I concluded that the stone must have originated in my gravel driveway when returning home the night before. The tire had been installed on 6/20/2023 at 104513. 5 miles, being in service for 1 year and 9293 miles, not even 20% into its expected life. Initial assessment of the damage to the tire, including the puncture size and longitudinal shape, suggests that repair will not be feasible and the tire will require replacement. While a flat tire due to foreign objects is commonplace, the safety concern here is that a simple small stone from a gravel driveway should not have been able to cause the failure of a 'kevlar reinforced' all-terrain truck tire. I believe the materials or construction of these tires may be defective and may have insufficient tensile strength in the tread material, causing them to yield and fail at much lower forces than are to be expected from tires in highway use. At any rate a well-packed gravel driveway that has been in use for many years should not be a challenge to the safety and performance of a truck tire rated for highway use. This tire failure comes less than a month and 1000 miles after a more dramatic and catastrophic failure of another tire of the same model on the same vehicle. While coincidence cannot be ruled out, two failures of the same model tire, both related to weak or defective tread sections, points to possible defects that should be investigated. 4 Tire problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/30/2024

Goodyear wrangler all-terrain adventure, lt275/70r18 tire installed new on [xxx] at 79892 miles. Tires were properly maintained including proper inflation and rotated. On [xxx] at 112745 miles the driver side rear tire suffered a sudden and catastrophic tread separation failure. At the time of failure, tire had been in service for 33 months and 32,853 miles, and had significant tread life remaining. Vehicle was travelling at approximately 55 mph on an asphalt highway on a hot, dry day. The separated tread damaged the rear body panel and severed the body structural support member in half. The vehicle was brought to a controlled stop, the separated tread was retrieved from the roadway, and the spare tire was installed. The tire was replaced the following day. Given that the tire was only about 50-60% into its usable life and well within the 50,000 mile warranty, this failure was unexpected. Goodyear has not provided any method to contact them directly and instead referred me to local retailers who have been unable to process the warranty claim. A second, much newer tire of the same model on the same vehicle failed in a different manner just 3 weeks and 1000 miles later, causing me concern of structural or material defects with these tires. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Tire problem of the 2002 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/13/2024

Lt265/75r16/10 123/120r tire on driver's rear began to have significant vibration while towing 16,000 lb. Fifth-wheel RV. Stopped and visually/tactilely determined unusual wear pattern so went to commercial tire shop in pahrump, nv. Their inspection determined tread separation rendering the tire unusable so we replaced it with a different brand. This is the second of three tires installed at the same time that have suffered tread separation failure. The first was in July 2023 and was not reported to NHTSA, but when two more tires failed at the same time, I decided to report. Because this type of failure does not produce tpms warnings, it could have been a catastrophic failure that might have resulted in damage to our vehicles and/or a crash with significant injury to us or other motorists. With three failures from the same batch of tires on our vehicle, I believe there is a serious problem with this batch of tires and they should be recalled.

13 Tire problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/26/2021

I was driving about 65 mph and my truck started to vibrate and then the rear tire blew and I was able to pull over and inspect. Upon inspecting half of the tread had separated and came off and damaged my truck bed. This tire is available for inspection. I am very lucky to have been able to control the truck. Myb9 yr old son was in there and worst case scenario we could have hit other cars or rolled the truck and possibly injuries or death could have occurred. I've read other complaints of the samething happening to other drivers. Michelin had recall on tires similar to this one before for tread separation. Is it related somehow? the truck and tire has been inspected by insurance and auto body shop and ntb tire manager. The ntb manager couldn't say what caused it. They have never seen this kind of blowout before. And recommended to keep pursuing something. But michelin won't do anything except to buy my actions with a 40% off of new tires. I wish somebody would investigate michelin. There's so many reports out there on these tires separation and sidewall being blown out. It's going to be very unfortunate for somebody to lose their life because of these tires.

14 Tire problem of the 2015 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/26/2021

I was driving on route 37 at about 65 mph. All of a sudden the truck started vibrating. I pulled over and got out and checked my tires and lugnuts didn't notice anything. Drove some more and it started vibrating again. I was preparing to pull over again but then the rear tire exploded. Tread separated, caused severe damage to my truck bed. I have the tire for inspection. This could have caused a bad accident on the interstate. My son and I was in danger of wrecking the truck. I'm waiting on the insurance to contact me. No warning lights. I feel like michelin has had several issues with tread separation before. It look like a tractor trailer exploded. Tire size is 275/65 r20 michelin ltx a/t2.

15 Tire problem of the 2017 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/31/2020

I have experienced multiple issues with my wheels valve stems leaking. I have gotten a couple stems replaced and the problem persists. I am adding air to my tires nearly everyday. I have read a lot of threads online with owners of the same year, make, and model are having the same problems. This is a safety concern because my family and I use this vehicle for travel and I cannot be having flat tires or be stranded because my tires won’t hold air. This truck has been to the dealer multiple times for this. Ron tirapelli Ford shorewood IL. The vehicle was also purchased there. I receive warning lights for low tire pressure regularly.

Failure Date: 06/24/2017

Purchased new federal 35-12. 5r20 couragia mt tire, wheels tpms mounted and balanced installed on 2016 F-350 with 19340 miles at first we had a lot of trouble with the tpms the dealer said that they sometimes don't work and to just ignore the light. I knew that was wrong and kept checking tire pressure at 65 psi tires road rough and pulled to the right I took it to my local shop and they checked alignment and said it was perfect. Also said a tire must be out of round causing the rough ride. Dealer for tire is 1,500 miles away continued driving vehicle and on a trip it got so bad that I removed the tire from the truck and came home on the spare after inspecting tire you can clearly see broken belt situation two of the other tires are showing same signs of problem called dealer and hot major runaround after two weeks got a persons cell phone number she is trying to help. It says her company won't allow certain things so I paid 160 to ship tires to utah. 2,000 miles away to see if they will give me any credit towards new tires calls and emails to federal tire company go unanswered anthem tire will not give me the name of their distributor I feel like they are going to make it so difficult that people will just give up, they're should be warranty info given with each new tire.

This time the tire was located on the front driver side and caused a death shimmy. The tire still has the tread on and can still be inflated. It was removed from the rim for inspection and replacement. No internal damage or cracks was found inside, but there are cracks in the tread that indicates that the tread will separate from the tire. Are they trying to hurt or kill me and my passengers? what can I expect NHTSA and bf goodrich (michelin) to do in resolving this issue with their tires?.

31 Tire problem of the 2004 Ford F-350

Bought bfg commercial t/a tires from costco lake elsinore, CA on 05-23-2015 I went back to costco with a handling complaint after a recent camping trip first time on these tires. With my 29 foot travel trailer my truck handles very poorly tire side walls feel very soft makes handling a serious safety issue. Truck feels like its wandering and when trying to stop the trailer the tires feel as if they are trying to come of the rims. My truck is a 2004 Ford F-350 srw truck more than capable of towing this trailer. The trucks mileage at the time of install was 154601 current mileage is 155061 so I have put a total of 460 miles on these tires. Costco would only rebalace and rotate tires without any of my saftey concerns addressed.

34 Tire problem of the 2011 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/31/2015

Driving on interstate highway at night. Noted vibration as when tires are not balanced. Exited interstate at first exit and checked all tires. Tire pressures good and equal. No knots or damage noted and all tires same temperature. Thought a balance weight had come off and tires needed to be rebalanced. Began driving on interstate with no change in vibration. About 15 minutes later there was an explosion and the truck violently veered to the right. Pulled back into my lane and then pulled over to right shoulder. Right front tire destroyed. Called aaa and highway patrol. Described incident to trooper and he looked at the tire and said the belts separated. Significant damage to vehicle - bent right front bumper forward, blew a 7 foot factory running board off of the vehicle and destroyed the right front quarter panel. Right front tire changed and stayed overnight at motel. Obtained new tire replacement next morning. I bought this truck to pull a trailer but have not bought a trailer yet. Luckily I was not pulling a trailer and there was not a vehicle next to me in the right lane when the explosion occurred. There were no vehicles nearby or they may have had some major debris flying their way. The tire is a capitol h/t tire not capitol precision trac ii (but form would not allow me to add this tire to complaint).
