36 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

I purchased a 2008 Ford F-350 p/u truck with the original continental/contitrac tires (lt275/70r18 125/122s). They only have approx. 31k miles on them and the tread showing signs of separation as outlined in a reacall dated March 11, 2011. There have been no accidents, and that is what I am trying to avoid. I have contacted the manufacturer and it does not appear that they will be helpful in resolving this matter. Please help!.

37 Tire problem of the 2008 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

During routine service I noticed that all four of my michelin ltx at2 lt275-70r18 tires are cracking between the tread and the center of the side wall, tires have less than 20,000 miles on them and they are less than three years old. Contacted michelin direct, and they advised there was nothing they could do for me. There web site states the tires have a 6 year warranty and a tread warranty up to 2/32. Tires have 7/32 of tread left. I have seen several other complaints about cracking side walls on the same michelin tire in different sizes. Michelin has a problem, they are just looking the other way.

38 Tire problem of the 1997 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

We were travelling 65 mph on the 91 freeway toll road when my left rear tire tread completely separated from the casing causing my vehicle to swerve and jump and causing significant damage to my vehicle, including damaging the fuel fill line. Fortunately there was no fuel leakage. The tire did not deflate so there was no puncture or other externally caused damage to the tire or vehicle. I took the tire to a bf goodrich dealer on 10/19/14 for inspection, the tire was still fully inflated. The dealer deflated the tire out of safety concerns. Had this been a front tire the potential for damage and injury would have significantly increased. The tire was purchased in July 2012 and was just over 2 years old. Tire dot# is bfw8 0211 0712.

39 Tire problem of the 2001 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 09/17/2014

Driving my 2001 f 350 at 45 mph the left front tire exploded loud enough for a neighbor to come out thinking a shot had been fired! the tire's side wall was shredded. This was my second experience recently with a blow-out of my bf goodrich rugged terrain t/a lt275/65r18 tires. In may the left rear blew out at highway speed with the side wall shredded similar to the recent blow out. I was pro-rated for that tire but after this recent event I am changing out all the tires and going back to cooper, I wouldn't chance having a more serious lost-of-control event! I bought my tires 3 years ago (2011) and use this truck on the ranch--there are less than 4,000 miles on these tires. From the outside the tires appear alright, but the handling started to feel rocky prior to the blow out although nothing was visibly showing on the exterior.

40 Tire problem of the 2007 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

Federal couragia m/t lt265/70r17e tires purchased jan2013. Two tires had belt separate in may2014. The first two tires were replaced by my local tire shop. Another tire suffered complete tread separation on june2014. The local tire shop assured me that they will also replace the tire that came apart and asked me to provide body estimates to repair the damage caused by the tire so they can submit them to tire distributor. The tires have approx. 15,000 miles on them. These tires are installed on a 2007 Ford F-350 4x4 with a 5. 4l gas engine. The tires are peeling off as if they were recapped tires but they are not recaps.

41 Tire problem of the 1994 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 05/15/2014

In March of 2014 I purchased a set of tires from treadwright tires within a very short time I noticed the side walls cracking , before I could get any response I had a blow out on my right from tire at 60 mph, I went through two more sets with the same results of side wall cracking but no blow outs I am now on my fourth set , they are a different model tire but I am now having a bad vibration some what like I had just before the blow out on the first tire set. Treadwright is being unresponsive now to my warranty claim and not refunding me the cost and shipping of the tires.

46 Tire problem of the 2011 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/08/2013

Chunks of the tread are coming off of the tire. This defect was noticed while having my truck serviced at the dealership. They instructed me to visit a tire store that sold michelin tires to get them relpaced. When I went to the tire store and they contacted michelin. I was told they would give me a 30% discount on new tires. This is not acceptable. I purchased my truck new and have approx 23k miles on these tires. This is not normal wear and tear there is a defect with these tires. I am affraid that this my cause a blow out or a auto accident and dont want to see anyone injured because michelin dosnt want to replace the defective tires.

52 Tire problem of the 1991 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 07/26/2012

About August 2012 I was informed by pettis tires, cordele, GA. That the two tires I had bought from them had been recalled. For approx. One year we traded phone calls and no progress was made. I called bf goodrich customer service and was told to go to sears auto in albany, GA. That lasted about three weeks, said they were unable to get replacements. Called customer service again they sent me to sunrise Ford, sylvester, GA. Sunrise said they would replace them if they knew they would be reimbursed. So far no agency has been willing to get the replacements or are unsure about reimbursement. I was even told by petis tires in cordele, GA. To wait as long as I can because these are free miles on bad tires. The original letter from bf goodrich in July 2012 recommended getting these tires off the road as soon as possible because of "tread loss and/or rapid air loss resulting from tread belt separation". Not my idea of getting free miles on recalled tires. Two calls to customer service, three recommended dealers, and no calls back, no tires. No problem, these are free miles. Customer service bf goodrich 1-800-637-5527. Pettis tire, cordele GA. 229-273-1153. For one year they would not acknowledge my requests. Said they would call their supplier. Provided the reassurance that these are free miles. Sears auto center, albany GA. 229-434-4328. I drove 1 hour because on the phone he said he could take care of it. Three weeks later he was still being sent the wrong tires from his supplier. Sunbelt Ford, sylvester, GA. 229-776-7691. Did not know of any recall, will call back. Next day they assured me there was a recall. They would not act until they were sure they would be reimbursed. Further calls went nowhere. In the original recall notice ofjuly 2012 bf goodrich suggests that if "bf goodrich retailer fails or is unable to provide the service as described above without charge. . . You may submit a complaint to the administrator NHTSA".

54 Tire problem of the 2009 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/23/2012

On March 23, 2012, while towing my RV on i16, the tread on the left rear tire of my 2009 f350 peeled off. My factory installed tires were continental contitrac lt275/65r18. According to continental these tires were not a part of recall #11t002000 and yet, given the exact same failure, I wonder if my tires should have been included in the recall. The truck had very low mileage, the tread still had a depth of 11 and the bed load was only 2700 lbs(using cat weight measurements. ) of the truck's 4000 lb capacity. The tire pressure, before leaving 2 hours earlier, was at the recommended 80 lbs. After talking to my Ford dealer in austin, TX I learned that there was notification 11b24 concerning these tires. Had I been notified about this I would have taken action. To this end I had all 5 tires replaced before I again towed the RV. While I was able to regain control of the truck, I could not take the chance of tempting fate another time. As the truck left quarter panel was damaged I did start a claim for repair with continental. Based on any response from you I will also request pro-rated compensation for the replacement tires. I saved the failed tire and continental has requested that I send it to them. I will do this within the next week.

55 Tire problem of the 2003 Ford F-350

Failure Date: 03/22/2012

Purchased 4 lt continental conitrac 275/70r18 tires/Ford oem wheels from barney's tire and wheel in temecula, CA for my 2003 f350 Ford truck. These tire and wheels were in new condition. June 2, 2011 I had dinsaur tire located in calimesa CA replace the left front tire due to tire separation. Neither I or dinosaur tire were aware of the continental tire recall. March 22, I had the left rear tire separate and again contacted dinosaur tire to schedule a replacement. Again, they were unaware of the recall. Thinking two tire separations were odd, I performed a search on the web for problems related to these tires and discovered continental had recalled certain tires. Emailed continental the dot numbers of the tires and they confirmed with a email these were tires subject to the recall and I was directed to contact an authorized dealer. Contacted dinosaur tire (authorized dealer) and faxed all correspondence to them. They were still unaware of the recall and did not know the process to file a claim. Dinosaur tire called continental with me in their company to get an authorization. Unfortunately and wrongfully, continental will only prorate the remaining three tires because there was a compliance date of October 15, 2011 and stated all persons who purchased the tires were contacted. Had the authorized dealer dinosaur tire been made aware of the recalled tires last June, I could of replaced the 4 tires without any fees and free of charge. However, because continental failed to communicate this to the public and authorized continental dealerships, demonstrates a lack to take full responsibility to the public for tires the public accidentally came in possession of, and sold by unaware tire companies. Continental would not provide any reimbursement for the tire replaced last June, 2011. Again - failure to communicate the recall to the public demonstrates a lack of responsibility.
