Ford F-350 owners have reported 16 problems related to tire valve (under the tire category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford F-350 based on all problems reported for the F-350.
Ongoing problem originally reported 4/12/18, NHTSA id 11084859. Originally reported failure of one aluminum wheel/valve stem causing loss of air pressure. Since then, all four outer aluminum wheels/valve stems have been subject to ongoing air loss. Ford has replaced all the valve stems because of air loss/leaking 3 times! they have also replaced all four outer aluminum wheels because of air loss/leaking. Truck is out of warranty now and I have had an independent tire seal leaking valve stems on multiple occasions and add air to tires frequently because of this ongoing safety problem.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving 60-65 mph, the tpms warning light illuminated. The contact stated that air was added; however, the failure reoccurred shortly after. The contact became aware that the tpms warning light would frequently illuminate shortly after adding air to the tires. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was corrosion between the rim and the valve stem, and that the valve stem was no longer sealed. The independent mechanic replaced the metallic valve stem with a rubber valve stem; however, the failure had been reoccurring on 5 of the 6 rims. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they did not have the equipment to repair the vehicle. The contact notified a second dealer; san tan Ford (1429 e motorplex loop, gilbert, az 85297) who informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his own expense. An appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35,800.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it was discovered that the air pressure in all four tires were consistently decreasing; the contact also noticed corrosion around the rims and valve stems on each wheel. The low tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a dealer but not diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that the dealer would replace the current tires with new tires to monitor the failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was constantly adding air to the tires before driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford 350 diesel. While driving 60 mph, the front passenger tire blew out. A towing service replaced the tire. The tire shop inspected the tires and noticed that the valve stems on the other 3 tires were defective, however he stated that the tire that exploded did not have a defective valve stem. The tire had less than 10,000 miles they had to pay $156. 000 for a new tire. Updated 09/10/08

We have a 2005 Ford f350 super duty. On vacation in September 2007, we had 2 valve stems fail from cracks which caused flat tires. The first was as the truck was parked. The second failed as we were on the interstate doing about 60 miles per hour. We heard it blow and got pulled over with no problem. We had both valve stems replaced and discovered that a third one was also cracked. We subsequently replaced all five valve stems with metal stems.

Firestone steel tex r4s, lt265/75r16, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2000, Ford, f350 with 17800 miles. While driving 55 mph left rear tire had a blowout. Consumer contacted Ford and firestone and was informed that it was not one anothers fault, firestone stated it was Fords problem because of the bad valve stwm that was put on by Ford, consumer stated there were 2 more bad valve stems found in bad condition and were replaced.
I had 2 valve stem failures within 2 weeks and 2000 miles. Both occurred at 60 to 70 mph. Both valve stems where original equipment. Both occurred on 85 degree or higher days. Each resulted in rapid deflation of front tires.
At interstate speed valve stem came out of lf tire, followed shortly there after by all the air. The vehicle was safely stopped and there was no further damage to the vehicle or wheel. There was no obvious damage at an earlier time to the valve stem. Upon replacement of tire and stem, the back piece of the stem was inside the tire. Next week the 5 remaining valve stems on the Ford f350 dually will be replaced, because it was a peculiar failure to say the least. I hope anyone else who has this experience is as lucky as we were. Pe00 020; was traveling 60mph on highway and heard a loud noise. Then, noticed that vehicle was pulling to the left. He was able to pull over to the shoulders, and he noticed that passenger rear was flat. He was able to change it . Firestone, steel tex, #2657516. He has contacted Ford, and firestone. The problem was the vavle stem.
The oem valve stem were found to be fatigued wher they mount to th rim of steel-tex mounted tires. The right rear inside tire went down first and the spare was put on. Then two days later the left rear inside tire went down due to valve stem failure. It was found at the time of mobile service repair that the left front tire valve stem was severely fatigued and the ambulance was removed from service until it was driven to a tire shop were the remaining 5 of 7 valve stems were replaced. All the original tires were put back on the ground and the spare was stored. Two days later the right rear inside tire had a blow out while enroute to the hospital with a patient on board. The tire was replaced with the spare which is a steel-tex tire. The spare was replaced and stored away. There have not been any further problems with these tires as of 06/02/01. I was driving on a major interstate freeway and the right rear tire exploded and quickly disinegrated. I somehow managed to get the truck to the side of the road and get the spare on. After getting to the nearest firestone dealer in springfield mo, they said the failure was due to the rubber valve stem breaking loose. They said Ford should have equiped the truck with steel valve stems. Ford and firestone have declined responsibility for the failure. Luckily I was able to keep from crashing and being killed. Wife was driving in middle lane on rt95 south toward richmond, va from no-va are when left rear tire blew and absolutely nothing was hit!! tread on outter tire still in tact however outside wall was totall torn apart. Fortunately no one was killed since my wife is a excellent driver she waited for traffic to clear in right lane and was able to pull over truck (along with our 30ft camper trailer). All tires are original equip from Ford for which we special ordered on truck to ensure we had biggest tire avail as options for truck that year we ordered it. Now alum rim is ruined and Ford will not replace tire(s) nor rim. Closest firestone dealer is very far away 1. 5/2 hours. Asked sterling Ford to replace all four tires (since they no longer feel safe and show bubbles on sidewalls) and the rim but they will not even though I have bumper to bumper warranty saying that it is firestone dealer responsible. However, sterling Ford sells firestone tires but obviously doesnot warranty any of them!?!? also, about a month earlier valve stem on right rear tire went bad. . So, I have had two (2) incidents with firstone produce. Also, all tires are showing excessive tread wear and there is only 25k miles on tires. I will have to replace all tires before winter and no one can tell me how long these tires are warrantied for; 50 or 60k?? if 60k tire wears out half way and blows out on sidewall somthing is definitely wrong with these tires!!( dot number: tire size: p265/75r16 ).

Consumer called complaining about having a problem with his tires left rear driver side had a flat down the tire valve had come out. Dealer was contacted and stated that they have nothing to do with it. Firestone tire size lt285/75/16. Ts.
Consumer feels that the valve stems are unacceptable on the aluminum wheel rims on the vehicle, the rear tires have valve stems facing in, the inside rear tire valve stems are completely unaccessible to check and add air when necessary, consumer feels if he is responsible for maintaining proper air pressure, the vehicle should come equipped with accessible valve stems.
