Moon roof shattered while traveling on a paved highway on a clear day at approximately 45 miles per hour. I heard a loud noise similar to a gun shot and I first thought a large rock had hit the vehicle but I could not see any damage. I was approximately 200 yards behind a tractor trailer rig which was not a gravel truck or an off road type rig. The next day I noticed a piece of tinted glass in the bed of the truck and climbed into the bed and noticed the moon roof had shattered in an outward direction. A large quantity of broken glass had fallen down and were laying on the moon roof inside cover. If I had not had the cover closed at the time of the breakage, I could have been cover in small pieces of broken glass with potentially a different outcome. This is the second incident I have had this year with a shattered moon roof. In mid October, I was driving a 2014 Lexus es300h and the moon roof exploded with a tremendous noise, also in an outward direction. I was going 70 miles per hour and was not in a construction zone nor was I in any traffic. Again I did not have the cover open and no glass came into the vehicle. I will also add this complaint to the database as a separate complaint.
