While driving down the road going to the hospital it started cutting out and would not shift gears and would not go. So we called the roadside service & had to haved it towed to the shop. Now 3 weeks later it is covered by a recall and extended coverage but it may take up to a year to get the parts, and we need a car. This is supposed to be due to a problem with these particular model of Ford. Well then they should at least provide us with a car until this one is fixed.

From a dead stop at 2045 hrs central time as. I was coming home from work I was stopped at a stop sign on northland avenue on the way to florida avenue to my sons house. When I went to take a left hand turn onto meade street (located in appleton wis) I pressed the accelerator my engine reved but my car would not move. It lurched suddenly grabbing power then stopped in the middle of the intersection. I checked to see that it was in drive and not in any other gear. As I pressed the gas again the transmission and car struggled to engage what I could only imagine was the clutch. Finally I the car engaged and jerked me forward. I was very worried I was going to get hit stranded in the middle of an intersection ! this car was bought new off the lot!! it has 61,750 miles on it! I'm a 64 year old little old lady who takes care of her car! this is absolutely outrageous and uncalled for! please conduct an investigation into Fords non-serviceable transmission! you can't even add fluid or check the level of the transmission fluid. I've told my son at times as well I've smelled what I thought was hot transmission fluid. The smell was distinct. This car has been maintained. I've never heard of a car you have to go to the dealer to get service for the transmission because it's sealed. Absolutely ridiculous and dangerous !!.

Started the car on one hot and humid day and, while waiting for my wife and aunt at a driveway and without touching the gear shifter, I saw the gear display momentarily jumped from park to neutral and then back to park on the display panel. It happened a few times and I thought that was odd. The car had already undergone three transmission overhauls before the extended warranty ended so I was familiar with the transmission problems that plagued the car, from grinding gears to shuddering and slow shifting in low speed or at an incline, all I had experienced before. But the slipping gear was new. I didn't think much about it at first and drove off when my wife and aunt got on. At the second stop sign, the gear slipped moment after I accelerated following the stop. There was no warning at all no abnormal sound, no warning message, no engine light on or blinking. The engine revved up and there was no more power to the wheels. Only then did I notice the gear display showed the car was in neutral, but the gear shifter was still in drive. Fortunately, there were no other cars around us. I immediately tried moving the gear shifter but it was stuck in drive while the gear was in neutral. I stopped the car and tried again, to no avail. I then turned off the car and was able to move the shifter into park. I turned the car back on and was able to move the shifter into drive, and the gear cooperated. I turned around and got back to home safely. I had coped with all of the earlier transmission problems with this car, the trouble of going to the dealership repeatedly, and even adjusted my driving habit with the unique temperament of this car. However, with the gear slipping from drive without any forewarning, I did not feel safe to drive this car anymore. We thought about what would have happened if the gear had slipped while we were driving on the freeway.
The car jerks and shutters when pressing on the gas. The car loses power and will not go over 40-50 miles a hours, which is very dangerous when driving on the interstate. The car is not changing gear properly.

Transmission will not change gears. Ford has extended warranty but it expires at 100000 miles. Its a know problem with Ford Fiesta and focus during a few years that Ford has not addressed. Car was parked and as I started driving it was jerky and gears would not shift correctly. Problem is not constant. It comes and goes.

I was driving to work on the highway, it was slow traffic, and upon slowing down, I felt a lurch and a high pitch. The car continued to drive, and upon arriving to work a few minutes away, the car began to smell bad. I parked and turned the car off. I turned the car on again and it would not change gears. I had to get my car towed. The car is currently at a mechanic, and he sublet the job to a Ford tech who is now saying that the transmission blew up. So now a transmission, trans computer, clutches, and fork have to be replaced and they are charging $5250 for the job. The car showed nothing wrong aside from the weird lurch. There was no check engine light, no trouble codes. The only thing I saw was after parking the car and turning it back on, a popup flashed on the screen saying transmission malfunction.
2013 Ford Fiesta - clutch package replaced twice - 20,000miles and again at about 60,000 miles. "transmission failure - service now" message appeared several days after second repair/replacement while driving car on a city side road; going about 35 mph; three people in car; signal went off and on several times, but was able to drive it; took it to a Ford dealer who said there was corrosion and a replacement connector was ordered -"we'll call when it comes in. . . ". Several days later in a different location, same message appeared, but stayed on; driving about 35mph on residential area of city; then engine raced but did not shift gears; car shuttered; but did not seem to get power; coasted to side of road and called for help. Car towed to a different dealer.
While driving at highway speeds in 3rd and 5th gears there was a loud whining noise coming from the 5 speed transmission. The noise will increase or decrease with the throttle and goes away when in neutral. While traveling at approximately 65 mph and with the cruise control on the car popped out of 5th gear without warning and I was not able to shift back inot 5th gear. All other gears including reverse work fine however when the shifter is placed into the 5th gear position the transmission doesn't engage. I have read numerous complaints of the same problem but not. Sure as to the outcome.
Transmission , keeps on shaking a lot when in drive and taking off , at times it stops and does not go forward ,for 2 or 3 seconds on the road, when the seems to shift to another gear , it shakes and it seems it does not move forward in the middle of a intersection,I have already have taken to Ford dealer several times for repairs and now I need to take it in again after thanksgiving, I have already spoke to someone at the dealer to see if they can replace the transmission, they said no , gas mileage is bad for a small car, getting tired of it, if I trade it in for another vehicle , I will not get a good deal because the transmission is bad, it is a safety hazard.
Transmission failures on Ford Fiesta. I have had the the current recall done back in November of 2015. At that time I also had a clutch installed on the vehicle. Since then the transmission has locked up and failed again. The vehicle will not go into reverse only forward. I believe the transmission issues on the Ford Fiesta are far worse than what Ford is reporting. I would like to have an investigation started to find out what the underlying issues with this and to see if Ford is hiding anything. I believe that this is the inherent problem with the transmission that Ford has put in their Fiestas and focuses. The Ford Fiesta has become a dangerous vehicle when the transmission locks up will not accelerate will not shift into gear.
My car will not go in gear. I took it to Ford on 2/2/15 because my car was stalling when I put it in gear they ran test and said my car was fine. . It not running.
When at a stopped position and I go to take off, the car will shutter and almost want to cut out. It almost does not know what gear it wants to go into. I am worried with this transmission. I never have had a car that shifts like this before.
I initally leased, and then purchased, a 2013 Ford Fiesta. I have been the only driver of the vehicle. I have had a the transmission pieces replaced once and the vehicle is back in the shop for the second time. I don't understand how there can be so many recalls related to the transmission but no recall of the car itself. It lurches forward, will not shift into gear from a complete stop or almost stopped car. I've had many near misses and feel incredibly unsafe driving the vehicle. The car only drove for a few thousand miles before the problems crept back up, possibly even worse than before.
Since I have had the car, it shutters and jerks while driving at any speed. The car flips out of gear into another gear while driving. It's unsafe, and it's a huge problem.
Our Ford Fiesta was bought new in 2013 and ran great until 10k miles at which point the automatic transmission would not select a gear when attempting to accelerate from a slow down. Ford dealer took car in and per the service bulletin did a re-flash of trans control. Car ran fine another 1k miles, than issue occurred again , the car not selecting a gear and causing a hazard because we were unable to get out of the way of oncoming traffic while making a left turn. Dealership at that point replaced clutch pack because the say it had fluid in it, also another service bulletin. Now another 2k miles and the car did it again during a snow storm causing us to be unable to get out of the way of a plow which narrowly missed hitting are car. Ford has now had the car another half week and said there is nothing they can find wrong so there is nothing to do. This is very unsafe car and more needs to be done about this major hazard. Hopefully no one loses there life because this issue is not taken more seriously by Ford motor CO.
I have had my 2012 Ford Fiesta ses since September 2011. My vehicle was involved in a transmission recall awhile back and ever since it has had constant transmission issues to include jerky shifting, sluggish acceleration, failure to shift gears, transmission failure message appearing on the radio screen and all constant jerking when driving coming from the transmission. I have had it looked at before with being told it was operating as it should. If this is how it's supposed to operate, I will never purchase another Ford.
Car started normally in driveway, but when I put it in reverse to start backing out, noticed the vehicle did not shift and was just sitting in neutral which caused my car to roll back, so I put car in drive and gave it gas to move back forward, but instead kept rolling backwards out into the road (still in neutral). Turned car off and heard clicking/grinding sounds. Waited a bit and tried to start car, but car would not start, saying that it wasn't in park (it was). After fiddling with the gear shift, I finally got the car to recognize it was in the park position and it started again, but experienced the same issues with not shifting into gear properly. It seems to be extremely random as to when it shifts (and into what gear) as sometimes drive would work, sometimes reverse would work, sometimes neither would work. Car is now not starting at all, saying it isn't in park again. Still hearing clicking/grinding sounds after I turn the car off for a few seconds.
Ford manufacture service request by mail said to inspect and replace if needed clutch for transmission. Ford dealer replaced the clutch and 2 days later the transmission didn't shift smooth. As the transmission shifted the engine revved up another 1,000 rpms before shifting with shuttering noticed. Ford technicians said it was safe to drive until they could see it at the shop. 2 days later when the dealer reopened the transmission completely failed and would only shift badly from 1st to 2nd gear. It would not go into 3rd gear. 30 mph max speed.
Going up a hill in town the transmission went in and out of gear, almost could not make it up the hill because the transmission would not stay in gear.
My 2014 Ford Fiesta has a manuel clutch that has malfunctioned since I purchased the car new in September, 2013. The problem began when there was approximately 20,000 miles on the vehicle. The car would sometimes stall out and other times it would not properly go into gear. I would have to shut down the engine to get it into gear. I called the Ford dealership and they informed me to bring the vehicle into the dealership. They said they found nothing wrong. The clutch has continued to malfunction occasionally up until the last 6 months. Now it has become dangerous. The car will not go into gear properly most of the time. While running, the clutch will keep pulling even though it is pushed all the way down to the floor of the car. I was in a line of traffic and almost hit the vehicle in front of me because it kept pulling. I had to shut the car off and restart it to stop the pulling. There are no warnings of any kind prior to the failure or during the failure. This is putting my life and others at risk. I only have 94,000 miles on it and it is too dangerous to continue to drive. There should have been a recall on this problem by Ford. It is available for inspection. I have not had it repaired as of now.
Car felt like it was stalling when I stepped on the gas it would not move waited a few second's and it started to go drove about 100 yards same thing again, came out of it again drove towards home about 3 miles it lost all power transmission could not find the gear looking at dash saw it searching, finally it went into drive, drove another 5 miles and same thing again this time it was shifting on its own from forward to reverse and high low ranges, sat there waiting on it finally went into drive drove it home and. Called rochester Ford dropped it of they said it shifted better then any Fiesta they ever tried wife drove it home and on the way home it did same thing, contemplating next step.
Car did not move could not find the gears had to push it off the road, I was not the first time but this time was in heavy traffic and I almost got rear ended and while pushing out of the way almost got hit. I would not move in any gear. I appears there is a bulletin out for a fix it is a bad ground bold and a defective module. I feel there may be other cars that had the same issue and may have even been accidents that resulted from this. There is nothing scarier then sitting in the middle of the road and not be able to move and getting out of the car to get it out of the way is suicidal. I am grateful to rochester Ford for getting this problem fixed and at no cost.
This cars transmission slips out of gear whenever it wants too, shifts erratically and unpredictable especially in traffic at speed between 0 and 45 miles per hour. Two time I was almost in a fatal accident because when I stepped on the gas with the car in drive it was not it gear, the engine tachometer jumped to 4,000 rpm and then snapped into gear, the transmission sounds like it is falling apart from the inside out, sounds like rocks inside. The rider side air bag light saying they are off comes on when ever it wants as well even with the seat belt buckled, up hill assist shuts off causing no or very little acceleration. The car is a death trap it was sold to me with a certified pre-owned warranty 12 month bumper to bumper and 150,000 mile drive train warranty. I have taken it back twice already and paradise Ford in cocoa says its fixed its worse now than when I took it in and now the owner at the dealership refuses to service the car anymore.
I have been having problems with my transmission from shortly after the day I purchased the vehicle. It shutters, locks up and cannot shift gears. It has been in the shop over 5 times for the same issue and is still under manufacturers warranty. What can be done for me?.
Had trouble shifting gears from a stop position. Presently it has trouble shifting not only in low gears but all the way up to 50mls pr hr. When slowing down it jerks and hesitates. In oct 2014 took it back to repair and was told needed new clutch due to internal oil seal leak contamination . Nine months later the manufacturer has still neglected to repair it, I have been told due to backorder of parts. It has only 20,000k on it.
The first incident occurred on start of the vehicle. The car would not go into gear. No lights came on and problem could not be replicated. Stopped, restarted and worked fine next incident at highway speed. . The car revved up and then was unresponsive to accelerator. Had to coast off highway, stop car and restart. . Immediately after took to dealer who did a software update about a month ago. Yesterday , had multiple incidents in stop and go traffic where car became unresponsive to accelerator in the middle of heavy traffic and while exiting highway and light did come on. This car makes me fear for my life. Car is back at dealership and I will never drive it again as there is no warning as to when this malfunction will occur. There is a serious defect that people need to be warned about. I will be trading mine ASAP.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Fiesta. While driving approximately 30 mph, the transmission failed to shift gears properly and jerked. The failure reoccurred when driving on several occasions. The vehicle was repaired under the manufacturer special customer satisfaction program pertaining to the replacement of the transmission shifter. After the remedy was performed, the failure recurred twice. The recall remedy was insufficient and failed to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.
Ever since vehicle was new I've had problems with the duel clutch 6 speed transmission. When upshifting through the first 4 gears transmission sounds like a tin can full of marbles. Upshifts a harsh with a jerking motion. Transmission is reluctant to down shift into first gear when approaching a stop sign or light and when I've tried to accelerate from a stop the vehicle responds like it not in first gear by jerking and lugging during acceleration until the speed builds up. I've had one case were the transmission acted like it was in neutral when I left a red light. I was forced to release the gas and step on the brake before it acted normally. I've also had issues the rpm not dropping during braking requiring additional brake pressure to bring vehicle to stop. I've contacted Ford numerous times on these issues and have been told its either normal, or they can not duplicate the problem.
Test drive was great. At approximately 100 miles the automatic transmission started to miss gear shifts at speeds below 15 mph. The transmission would shift up into 2nd and unexpectedly shift back down into 1st, the same with 2nd and 3rd gear shifts. I am also hearing a metal chatter/scrapping sound below the car at all speeds. Recently I had to suddenly brake hard and when I went back on the gas the car did not accelerate, it seemed to still be in 4th gear and did not shift down or select the proper gear. At 1000 miles I went to the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. I am going back to the dealer for a second time and will be contacting Ford if the problem is not corrected. I have had the vehicle for only 4 months and currently have 1800 miles on the odometer. This has been a problem since 100 miles new. The consumer stated the vehicle would stall during up shifts, unless he put the vehicle in low gear and slammed on the accelerator. Frequently, the transmission, seemed to pulse in and out of gear, and going up a hill, the transmission would not stay in gear, it would try and shift down only to shift back up once he lightly let off the gas. Updated 11/15/11.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was engaged followed by a three second delay response. The failure would occur at any given time. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed the contacts that the vehicle was operating properly. The failure mileage was approximately 3,700. Updated 05/25/11 the consumer stated o several occasions the vehicle could not decide which gear to go into. There was delay in acceleration. Updated 07/08/11.
2011 Ford Fiesta, have had for 28 days (purchased on 11/10/10) has been in to shop twice. First time the engine was very slow to turn on--like a dead battery with clicking noises. This time, the car was slow to turn on and would not go into gear, would try to reverse or drive and it would rev like it was in neutral. Finally got it to function, but was very worried about driving it. Took to dealership today, they recharged the battery and scrapped some paint off of some part and put some kind of oil on it. I was told that battery problems could affect some thing in the transmission's memory and that the car could "forget" how to go into gear or forget what gear it is in. This worries me as I drive quite a bit for work. I was told at dealership that all vehicles have problems with them (chevy, Dodge, etc. . . . ) I am not completely satisfied with that. I am keeping all paperwork related to this because I don't think charging the battery and scraping some paint has anything to do with fixing this problem. The car has 1200 miles on it (mainly highway) and I really expected a much better product. I even had to miss a night of work due to sitting in the service department the batter part of the day.
