1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 03/28/2021

Om Sunday March 28,2021 my husband and I attended a auto auction. When the dealer brought out a 2012 Ford Fiesta. Before bidding started everything looked and sounded alright. We ended up paying $3200. 00 for a vehicle that they failed to provide faulty problems. Car has a lien on it. After driving off the lot I came to a red light when it turned green the car started sputtering loosing fuel as well as acceleration. I than pulled into the a parking at the gas station to see what was going on. And to my knowledge it was the transmission making noise as well as slipping, spark plugs, oil change. I then drove back to the car but everyone was gone for the day. I tried calling the office the next day and left messages. No response what so ever. The girls are really unorganized and should treat others the same you would treat them. I am writing this letter to inform everyone I was sold a vehicle that shouldn't have been on the road. I was also told today 4/5/21 that on March 5th a lien was filled out and turned in. I'm requesting the amount I paid for this lemon law vehicle along with compensation for giving false information.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 11/24/2019

My vehicle while stopped at an intersection lurched forward almost hitting another vehicle. I was stationary with my foot fully compressing the brake. Then out of nowhere my engine area started making a strange noise and I lurched forward several feet almost colliding with a vehicle in the intersection. This was on a country road in an intersection. I believe this may be due to the recent transmission issues Ford has admitted to.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 08/12/2019

This vehicle is giving me a delay of about 10 seconds or more before to start. To start this vehicle, I have to put the ignition on on position, then wait until I hear a noise from the engine compartment before I turn the ignition key over to start the vehicle. Otherwise, she will not start, nor the speed lever will move from parking to reverse. I called the dealer mc mahon Ford in norwalk CT and explained to them the symptoms for the car, they told me that these Ford Fiesta and fusion are known to have transmission issues.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/25/2019

Part 2: this is the second part of the complaint following the trade-in of the 2012 focus I purchased brand new. . . So, sick of the focus acting up all the time, I took it back into jim snead Ford, waynesboro, va and he encourages me to buy a brand new Fiesta. I did not complain as he was my sole main guidance and I thought I could trust jim. On 08/09/2013, I purchase a brand new Ford Fiesta trading in the 2012 Ford focus. Jim snead allows only $961 trade in value for the focus and I lost $23,690. 68 on depreciation and monthly payments! I buy the Fiesta and the same thing happens again. The car's tires spin when accelerating from a full stop then the vehicle jumps out forward. The car rides rough, it bucks, it misses, it makes noises, it shudders. This time I am not very happy nor pleasant with mr. Jim snead. I was a teacher, a widow w/ two kids still dependent on me and here he sells me another 'crap', terrifying car that seems to have a mind of its own. Of course, according to mr. Snead, it is my driving--not the car. I notice that the service department is not writing up my complaints every time I bring it in about the transmission-just like they left it out of my complaints with the focus. The Fiesta receives its first of 3 transmissions a year after I purchased the car on 09/23/2014. While I am driving around w/ the service manager so he can feel how terrible the car runs, he admits to me the car is a bunch of junk and I need to start reading up on it. Now the Fiesta is in the shop often and mr. Snead and I are not very friendly. I have all the service records, but I have to write in the car is running raggfed as the service department will not put it in the report. I want mr. Snead to buy the car back, but he refuses. Every month that rolls by is a disaster waiting to happen w/ the Fiesta. Another 'dollar bleeder', unsafe car!!.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 04/10/2019

My transmission seems to be oof, I'm having trouble when driving with it skipping its harder for it to accelerate when driving. You hear a few thuds and then my rpms will go up before the car will move. I don't really know the proper terms. It can happen anytime regardless if I'm at a stop light or just driving down the road. It has happened on multiple occasions. I've never had a transmission do this. It can be scary when I start to drive and then my car doesn't move but instead makes the thudding noise before eventually taking off faster than expected. I can feel it in the car when the thudding happens.

12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 05/27/2017

Bought this car new on 12/22/2013 and have been having transmission problems from day 3 of owning it. This car is not safe to drive. It grinds, clicks and makes horribly loud noises. It stalls in the middle of turns and I've almost been ran over many times. It jerks and accelerates on its own without me evening telling it to. Now at approximately 54,000 miles it will no longer even start and the light says "transmission malfunction service now. " the wrench light and engine light also come on and off, periodically. Ford motor company is well aware that they put bad transmissions in all of these new cars and we have been robbed. Is it going to take someone's death before someone does the right thing in this situation?.

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 02/18/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fiesta. While the accelerator pedal was depressed, an abnormal noise was heard from the front of the vehicle. 14 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

I own a Ford Fiesta 2012, I have taken good care of it. Driven it well checked it often and never crashed it. I bought it in March 2014, got a letter later stating the transmission issue and warranty extension till 100k. Now that my car is having problems I took it in, it shutters and doesn't accelerate well and makes a really loud noise when driving. I have almost crashed several times due to malfunction when going from stop to go or trying to accelerate on the freeway. I do not feel safe in the car what so ever and am scared to drive it again until the issue is completely gone. This car is not safe at all. At times I have had a hard time going from a stop sign. I would stop and then when I am able to go my car jerks back and refuses to accelerate. I do not abuse my car, I drive speed limit and only on paved highways and streets. I have read many cases concerning this issue in this car and so I know the transmission is at fault and it is a manufacturer problem not the drivers. Ford has recalled the clutch and transmission but now states they cant fix my transmission under warranty only the clutch. I did not cause the transmission to malfunction I shouldnt have to pay for their problems and fault. I want Ford to either replace my transmission for free or just buy the car back. I do not feel safe driving it and putting my life and others at stake, having no control of my cars jerky movements and having it stall on me even tho it is a automatic car. I often feel like I am driving a manual car that I have no control off, it is scary! I do not feel safe at all and am constantly in fear driving it feeling like it may break on me any second and cause a crash harming me and possibly others. It is currently at the dealers and I am trying to contact Ford about my transmission but I will not pay 4000 dollars for a new transmission when I am not at fault here.

15 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

On-going issue w/ chugging, gringin and jerking-front derivers side of car. Started in 2014- told dealership steven Ford(patchogue,NY) they stated no issue. Noise got repeadetly worse over time. Had missouri dealership look at when I foundout there was recall on the transmission- stated reset computer all repaired. Came back to NY with extended issue took to tower Ford (great neck, NY) kept for a week stating they had to diagnosis w/ 260 fee. Was then told it was a part in the transmission - not covered under warranty and will cost $ 5,000. 00 to fix. Was told I could drive off lot-took to outside garage in glen oaks, NY where they informed me I had a hole in my transmission that by looking at could have been noted w/ no diagnostic needed. Tower charged me for the 260 diagnostic and sent me on my way. Ford corporate had been notified of all issues and refuses to help. I am 8 months pregnant- drove this car across the country and no one connected to Ford wants to help- it is a 2013! tower Ford told glenoaks garage that we did this to the transmission when we drove it 6 miles from one location to the other. This car has been a danger to drive and no one advised me of this extensive transmission issue!.

19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

The transmission experiences excessive shuddering and jerking with acceleration, severe rattling and grinding noises, to complete loss of response with the accelerator. This is every time it is driven. It has supposedly been repaired on Ford 5 times now, however this time they will not cover it. This is a danger to myself, my family and anyone else on the road when you can not control acceleration/deceleration. This has been ongoing since 11/2014.

21 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/23/2014

The car was making noises and sounding like it was having difficulty changing gears, took it in to a Ford dealer in charles town, wv (thomassen) and was told the car was ok, they reprogrammed it. A month later, same issue, took it back to them, they replaced the controller module and pronounced it fine. Three months later, same issue. Have been told was a recall on the transmission but now the Ford dealership it is at in weston, wv, toothman, is not wanting to perform the recall, and kept it on their lot for 1 month before they even put it on a rack and looked at it. They claim it was dry of transmission fluid. The day before leaving, oil change was done and fluid levels checked. When it broke down, my daughter and boyfriend checked the fluid first thing and it had plenty. Now, car is stranded and no one is wanting to help with this issue. Ford first gave a claim # and said recall would be performed. Now they say its not a recall, just a service.

22 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

The transmission makes a terrible grinding noise. It shutters upon accelerating from a stop, especially when lightly accelerating. When accelerating from a stop, the car may hesitate causing no response in throttle for a second or two, or it may by surprise spring you forward unexpectedly. This is a safety concern that I believe Ford needs to address for vehicles with this transmission.

23 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 03/05/2014

I purchased the vehicle used in February of 2014. A couple of days after having the vehicle it started to make loud grinding noises, when I tried to accelerate it would sputter and almost stall. I took it in on March 05, 2014 and the dealership had it for a week. When I picked it up, I was told that they could not find anything wrong with it and the grinding was "normal". The grinding noises, the sputtering, the slow acceleration, and other issues are still happening with this vehicle. When I call to see if I can take it in, I am told that this is normal for this vehicle. These 'normal' attributes should be disclosed prior to purchasing the vehicle. When I am at a stop and I start to accelerate, the car does not accelerate and it lunges and it has caused me to almost get rear-ended on more than one occasion. There has been a couple of times where I am driving on the highway at a steady speed and when I try to accelerate, it does not accelerate and the rpms just shoot up. The transmission of this vehicle has too many bugs in it and it is causing a safety concern. If I would have known that these things were 'normal' prior to purchasing the vehicle, I never would have bought it. Something needs to be done about this. I have seen numerous complaints that are very similar to mine and it truly is a safety concern that needs to be addressed.

24 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 12/30/2013

2013 Ford Fiesta has water leaking into trunk area from rear seat to back of car. Car has been to dealer seven times for repair and still has water leak in trunk area. 26 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 12/19/2013

The transmission makes all kind of noises, jerks, bogs down, and has even almost stalled going up a hill I've taken it to Ford and they said its "normal".

27 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 12/14/2013

In early 2013, I took my car to my dealer because of transmission concerns, they told me it was normal for my transmission. December 2013, my car would balk, did not want to proceed when I pressed on the gas pedal. Took it back to my dealer. They found the problem with my transmission. They stated they did not have the part. I explained I was getting ready to go out of town. The service advisor stated, it would not be safe for me to drive my car. I ended up leaving my car there & rented a car for 2 weeks. Less than a year later, same thing. They replaced the part. After that visit, there was a terrible racket coming from underneath my car. Less than a year later, had to have the part replaced again. I complained about the noise. They told me it was wind noise from coming from a heat shield. I moved to another state, my car could hardly go up a hill. Took it to a Ford dealer. I needed that part replaced again & needed bearings & other parts replaced in my transmission. The noise was still there & they found another problem with the internal parts of my transmission. They had to completely rebuild my transmission.

28 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

I first submitted a report on this site back in December 2013 regarding issues with my transmission/clutch. I had owned the car for a year and had about 36000 miles on my car when it started stalling but the issues probably started around 20-25,000 miles. Although I do recall one instance about 6 months after I bought the car when the engine/transmission seemed to cut short on the highway. Most of the transmission issues involved shuddering/shaking and growling noise/stalling sensation when in 1st/2nd gear. My mechanic (non-Ford related) mentioned it didn't seem normal. A few weeks later my car semi-stalled in an intersection. I took it to Ford, they kept my car for a month until they got the part and "fixed" it. A few months later I got a letter stating there were issues with transmission. But no formal recall which is shocking. Now a year and half later and about 15,000 more miles on my car I have started feeling that same sensation when driving. I know the issues with my transmission is starting again. I recently moved out of state, and the dealership I called is giving me the run around when bringing it in (no available appointments for weeks, no free rental car which if it's under warranty I should get). Plus there is the door/latch recall. This car is unsafe, I'm shocked there hasn't been more recalls or taking the cars with this type of transmission off the road. I already contacted Ford regarding my frustrations with this car. They've extended the warranty but what good will that do when the warranty is up and the transmission is failing every 20,000 or miles or so? or when someone gets hurt? the fair thing for them to do is apologize for their mistakes, take the cars off the road, and reimburse people for the cars. Investing in quality car that is safe and reliable is important. Ford is not it.

29 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Transmission made distracting grinding noises and dangerous lunging lurching unsteady intermittent movements during city driving.

30 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/24/2013

When changing lanes, which required me to accelerate while merging into faster-moving traffic, the car's transmission made a lot of noise and the rpm's were high, but the car did not accelerate (this occurred twice in one day). Oncoming traffic came close to hitting me, and it was frightening.

31 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/01/2013

-transmission is very jerky -car has a lot of hesitation after accelerating from a low speed or a stop -shuddering and grinding noise when stopping and accelerating when I first bought the car these issues were minor and I was told they would go away once the car got used to my style of driving but now they have become more severe and happening more frequently making this car a safety issue. When changing lanes and making turns the car is very unpredictable and may soon cause an accident. I have taken it into Ford numerous times and am always told this is how the car runs and these are normal functions for the transmission. I believe these cars need to be recalled and off the road before something serious happens.

32 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

Two problems: 1) when trying to accelerate gently from a stop (as in a 4-way stop situation) the vehicle engages violently and surges forward. I have to react quickly in this situation and slam on the brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me. 2) when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, the car revs (transmission makes a lot of noise) but does not accelerate. I have had dangerous situations when I could not accelerate and cars were coming up on me quickly.

33 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 08/09/2013

I pulled into a parking space, immediately put the car in reverse, still had my foot on the brake, started to move my foot to step on the gas and the car lurched forward. The lurch was strong enough to go over a speed bump. I was able to stop the car (it had gone approximately 10 feet). I put the car into drive and was able to drive forward out of the area. It started to do the same thing again yesterday but I was prepared for it and slammed down on the brake stopping it. Reverse is a long way from drive so I am not sure what is happening. I had the car into the dealer where I bought the car earlier because of the loud grinding noise coming from the front left side, first they told me it was a cable then they told me it was the transmission and nothing to worry about, that the noise was normal. Also the car rolls back on even the slightest incline and you have to keep your foot on the brake or you will hit the car behind you. The transmission does not seem to be operating correctly, slipping or something. I now have a note in the car and whenever I put it into reverse I am monitoring it because I would like to know exactly what is happening and at what point. It happened so quickly the first time that I was more in shock than anything else and just relieved that I was able to stop it and that it caused no damage to anyone or anything, even the car itself.

34 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

I traveled from williamsburg va. To new cumberland, PA on business. I stopped for lunch, finished then proceeded to my hotel. On the way at about 40 mph I heard a loud grinding noise during acceleration. I'm retired military so I was close to an mwr auto care on base. Their technicians took a look and told me they were 95% sure it was transmission without opening the unit. From there I took it directly to the closes Ford dealership, and they told me they couldn't even look at it for two days. They referred me to a transmission company they use around the corner. They told me they would do a dynastic and would let me know. I received the call and they told me the engage barring system unit was going. Both the owner and manager did some research and found a lot of material on this 2011 Ford Fiesta transmission. Ford had already done 5 updates. I also did some research and found a lot people were having problems with this transmission. The transmission company told me that Ford had this unit on a major back log due to the problems around the country. They found a rebuilt that they could have in two days, where waiting on Ford would have been a month. Because I was on business, I needed to get back to virigina so $2530 later I'm writing you. Is there any guidance or information you could provide? I would like to see if there is a way to have Ford pay for their transmission problems.

35 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

With in 2 days of driving my new car off the lot I recognized a rattle/grinding noise coming from the left front drivers side of the car. It varies in loudness and is primarily heard at low speeds with ac and radio off. I took it into the dealer shortly after and the service guy took it for a test drive with me present to determine if it was a quick fix or normal for the car. He heard the noise and wrote a ticket for repair. Next day they called me and said it was normal noise coming from the transmission.
