Transmission Shudder Problems of Ford Fiesta - part 1

I had it towed to the Ford dealership in southgate,they said that Ford motor told them to reset the software in the car,they did and got it running again. They also told me that there was a clutch problem and that was causing the engine light to be on. What they didn't tell me was that NHTSA and Ford motor had a recall to fix the transmission clutch shudder/transmission input shaft seal which has a warranty extension for free,they told me it would cost me over $2000 dollars to have fix. The field service action number is 14m01 and the fsa tittle is transmission control module extended warranty coverage. I bought this car in January 2018. I don't understand NHTSA and Ford motor CO. Have had over 600 complaints about the transmission shudder/clutch/seal. Tell me does someone have to be seriouly hurt or killed for the problem in the 2011 Ford Fiesta to be addressed and fixed for free by Ford motor company?.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford Fiesta. The contact stated that there was a shudder in the transmission. The contact received a recall notice (recall unknown) and had the vehicle serviced at allan vigil Ford 6790 mt zion blvd, morrow, GA 30260. The contact that after the repair, the transmission warning light had illuminated and returned the vehicle to the dealer. The contact stated that she was provided an estimate of $2800 to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was given a case number. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 197,000. Jo.

Transmission clutch shudder this car is owned by my 83 year old father. I am his poa. For a while he noticed that when he put his foot on the gas the car would hesitate. It got really bad last week. We had it towed to hoffman Ford. They told us about the recall and I read many articles about it online as well as the lawsuit. The dealership diagnosed the problem as this recall however because he was at 106,000 miles it was not covered and it would cost $2500 to fix it. The car is not worth that much. If Ford knew there was a problem than this should be fixed by Ford at no cost no matter the mileage. He is now worried about his safety and so am I. I contacted Ford corporate and they told me that he can fix it and save the receipt. If the recall changes then he could get reimbursed. This is unacceptable. Also the dealership charged me $160 to do a diagnostic and did not fix anything!.

I was driving and attempting a turn. The transmission shuddered and stopped moving. Like I was in neutral. I nearly got hit. I stopped the car restarted it and drove away.

The transmission shudders increasingly and had a loud grinding noise and was stalling so bad at take off. The engine would rev up but accelerating slow, then it will jerk into gear.

The vehicle has a transmission shudder and does not shift gear properly as it accelerates. This causes the vehicle to be subject to unexpected conditions of lack of response which may cause safety issues.

While accelerating after a stop light, the transmission shuddered violently before 'kicking into gear' and accelerating like expected. I am filing this and describing a failure this morning, but it has been happening for the last several years as well. It sometimes stalls a bit before the gears engage and it starts to accelerate. Often, there is a grinding noise when right on the border between gears. This is an automatic transmission vehicle.

The transmission shuddered and delayed propulsion since I bought the car in 2011-12. Took it to dealers numerous times for "updates" and listened to a variety of excuses as to why the shuddering-- but they never fixed the problem. Eventually, last month a day after my engine light came on and warned of transmission problems, the Fiesta stopped propelling my car numerous times on the way home. After stopping along the highway for a couple minutes, the car would move forward again. My car now seats in my garage, undriveable with an apparently failed transmission. Service center that just examined the problem quoted me $4,400 to install new transmission!.

Car shudders upon acceleration from standstill. Loses power severely going uphill. Engine/transmission shakes shudders engine races and quickly accelerates after loss of power then decreases again. When moving from stop car shudders makes a grinding noise and then slowly accelerates before decreasing rpm and then races again.

Due to the poor design of the dsp6 transmission, I have almost been in quite a few accidents when pulling into traffic on a city street and the transmission shutters and shakes so badly that I lose power and have almost been hit. Ford needs to be honest and upfront with the hardworking people that shelled out good money and repair the problem!.

Transmission shudders, stalls, eractic starts, excessive transmission noise and stalls out with rpms going to over 5 while the car stalls. When stall happens it takes about 40 second to re engage then that a hard shift. This car should have a recall on the transmission. Also the dealer and Ford both knew of this problem and neither advise me of it . If I had know of this problem I would not have purchased this car. In less than one year Ford has replaced the clutch twice and it is in need of a thrird repair.

Excessive transmission clutch shudder during light acceleration. Car will sometimes slip and cause car to abruptly slow down while taking off from traffic light. In emergency situation where car will need to back up transmission will slip forcing car to be unable to reverse.

Takata recall the "powertrain" transmission feels really shaky when driving and even when im about to brake you can hear shaky sounds cominf from the car it feels unsae something has to done.

We bought our 2012 Ford Fiesta about a 2 years ago. Since then we have taken it to 2 mechanics and the problems persist. The transmission shudders and lurches forward at random. The car has major issues accelerating and has almost gotten us in many accidents. The car seems like it gets stuck in a lower gear and will not move out of it even as your foot is pressed all the way down.

Transmission shuddering, shaking. Delayed acceleration and some acceleration on deceleration. Horrible especially between first and second gears. Car jumps and lurches forward on acceleration.

Transmission shudder and unreliability: my car frequently shudders when I start and, sometimes the automatic powertrain briefly detaches; in other words, applying pressure to the gas pedal on such occasions simply makes the engine whine, with no propulsive response. This has become a dangerous circumstance -- must be able to rely on the transmission responding to changes in pressure on the gas pedal. The problem is most acute when I'm accelerating from a stop; on the most recent occasion, I began forward motion at a stop light, but then the transmission detached and I just 'floated' into the intersection. Removing my foot from the pedal and reapplying pressure overcame the problem, in that instance. The car also shudders violently as I start, or if I am going uphill slowly (such as in stop-and-go traffic). I thought there had been a recall of the Fiesta to address transmission shudders, but I see no such recall on the NHTSA website.

Bought from car max 2015, 2016 February extreme shuddering from transmission Ford fixed for free new clutch plate. 2017 February would not start,car completely shut down on driver, transmission malfunction -- fix now. That's what it said on the warning lights plus the wrench. Dealer towed car. Technician stated while driving it died twice jerked violently upon acceleration from stop. North central Ford dallas texas when we called them initially was told this model it would keep happening because transmission design was faulty. They said could not complete test drive because vehicle was low on fuel,? they top off cars all of the time and did not complete test drive. ?.

Multiple problems were reported to me by the dealer as potentially being the cause when I took the car in for loss of power while driving, intermittent check engine light and wrench light along with shuddering in the transmission while driving. The dealer replaced (for the second time in 12-months) the clutch assembly, the seals, the clutch release lever and the clutch slave but stated that while the throttle body was bad and in need of replacement, the problem was not caused by the clutch nor did it contribute to the clutch problem and would not be covered by the extended Ford warrantee of the clutch. I had taken the car in with the same issue several months back but, because the check engine light was not on at the time, they dismissed the issue as normal functioning of the clutch. The same issue was the cause for the initial clutch assembly replacement a year ago. I plan to pursue the issue of the throttle body with Ford in light of the fact they are acknowledging and taking ownership of etb issues with 1. 6m other Ford models in the same production period.

Transmission shudders, rather violently, between 1-2, and 2-3 shifts. Recently the transmission has shifted into neutral at two very inopportune and frightening times, once on the 202 freeway in mesa, az and the other in a 3 way intersection attempting to make a left turn. The vehicle has become unsafe because of the random transmission shifts, whereas the shuddering was just a very irksome annoyance. Ford needs to replace these transmissions. It's ridiculous for a person to own a car less than 3 or 4 years old and have these kinds of unsafe issues.

The transmission shudders and slips violently under 10 mph and between gears. This is a major safety concern and Ford has not repaired my car. My car can easily get rear-ended if this is not fixed and I am not able to accelerate. Please contact me and help Ford recall and replace all transmissions for the Ford Fiesta.

Transmission jerks and shudders when the car gets hot. The check engine light is on constantly and when the car goes uphill it rolls backwards.

Transmission hesitates and shudders when accelerating from stop or at low speeds. Has done this on the street when leaving a stop sign, when accelerating/turning into a busy street from a parking lot, and also while going about 15mph (slowed down for car ahead of me to turn, then as I accelerated I got the shuddering feeling).

Engine light came on in the middle of traffic on span leading to the gw bridge-message stated transmission hot, turn off vehicle for 6 minutes. Second message was "stop or speed-up" I had to navigate the car to the shoulder in rush hour and turn the car off. I called the dealer since it had been serviced a little over a week ago. They were suppose to address the recall items and reported transmission problem of excessive vibration of the transmission. Very dangerous!!!!!.

My car has been into the dealer multiple times regarding the transmission shudder. Most recently when I received it back from the dealer the car came out of gear at 40mph almost causing a wreck. I took it back to the dealer. They said it's something internal with the transmission but they refuse to fix it. Now it doesn't want to come to a stop. It feels like it is searching for a gear the entire time you are driving it. I am scared to drive this car.

This is follow-up to incident #10639225 (26sep2015), and details continued trouble from initial complaint. The vehicle has returned to the shop four times (currently in shop) for power-shift transmission clutch shudder. Two of the four found shudder TSB logging 150-170 rpm loss between shifts (Ford claims acceptable?), one found/replaced leaking cv shaft seal, and fourth currently being diagnosed. On the third incident (one listed above), dealership found shudder and 170 rpm loss (stated on invoice they drove vehicle), but invoice shows zero miles driven in-shop? my first question is this. . . Why is any rpm loss (above 100 rpm's) acceptable for a computer controlled automatic transmission?? second. . . Under normal driving conditions (which this car is driven) why are there cv issues??? Ford has multiple TSB's and fsa's surrounding this transmission yet NHTSA does nothing about it! this transmission (with all of the NHTSA complaints against) clearly is a design flaw and a safety risk!! I request feedback on this issue. Thank you!.

3/27/15 I only had my car for a year(the problem started from the first week of purchase I called they try to brain watch me stating the car was built that way). And I'm in the process of taking my car back in for service. I just took it in a week ago for the same concern. The vehicle hesitates severely gears and transmission shudders. This is a safety hazard when in traffic the transmission will stall and pull. I'm in danger of any normal speed car hitting me from behind. Ford dealer wants to put me in a waiting list for a clutch and transmission issue. Ford should be more concern for their consumers!!!! but for the look of it they do not care!!! I'm fear for my safety. They refuse to get me into a new car or even loan me a car. (this is Ford in the san fernando valley) this car should not be on the road it is a hazard for the rest of the drivers as-well.

We purchased the car lightly used and are the second owner. We bought it with about 7,500 miles on the odo. When accelerating from a stop, the transmission shutters and vibrates, sometimes violently causing a pause in the acceleration which has sometimes been problematic in tough traffic situations. If stopped on a hill and trying to accelerate, the car struggles between 1st and 2nd gear and to accelerate. We view this as a major safety concern. Upon taking it to the dealership three times, they common answer is that "it acts that way because it has a transmission that is a manual transmission linked with an automatic" and no attempt is ever made to fix the problem. Only one time, they did a computer update, but the problem still existed, and so we took it back and received the answer given above. The transmission does not function safely or appropriately, and should be recalled. It has caused us a lot of stress when getting on highways or major roadways because of the acceleration (or lack of) issue. Plus when the car jolts, shakes, and vibrates violently, you feel like the whole car is going to break apart.

Ford Fiesta 2012 transmission has been shuddering for several months and now at 50,000 miles very bad mis shifting and not shifting (sounds like jumping into neutral) I have it in dealer and praying that it is covered with my premium warranty and special extension given by Ford for tranny problems.

Transmission shudders going into gears. It shudders going from 2nd to 3rd and then 3rd to 4th. When if finally goes into 4th gear it lurches. Transmission will also shudder while cruising at low speeds of 10 to 15 mph and if braking then accelerating suddenly. When I finally took it into the dealership, it was slipping in and out of gear.

I was pulling out of a county park after dark, and was trying to gauge the distance of an incoming car, to determine whether or not I had time to pull out. In order to see better, I lightly pressed the accelerator, but instead of slowly inching forward a few inches or a foot, my car leapt out into the path of the oncoming car and then stopped. I tried to throw the car in reverse, but there wasn't time to react. The other driver tried to slow down and swerve to avoid me, but was unable to avoid hitting my door. Me, my three children, and the driver of the other car were all taken to the hospital by ambulance. The children were not admitted, as they only had a few bruises, but the other driver and I were both admitted and subsequently released that same night. I received a citation for failing to yield, which I plan on contesting. My car has leapt out into a cross-street like that after stopping for stop signs several times, but always to a lesser extent, and never on a busy street. It always takes several seconds after this occurs for the accelerator to function again, which is why I tried to throw my car in reverse instead of driving forward. I have also had problems with my transmission shuddering profusely upon excellerating after stops. I received a notice from Ford dated August 2014, stating that they were extending the warranty on my clutch and transmission input shaft seals, and transmission software calibration to 7 years or 100,000 miles, because of these types of problems, and urging me to have them repaired if experiencing shuddering. Because of my husband's work schedule, we had not gotten around to having the seals replaced yet as reccomended. I feel that the transmission issues that I had been having with my car, are directly responsible for my collision, and could easily have resulted in the deaths of 5 people.

2012 Ford Fiesta. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission problems. The consumer the transmission would shake, make a grinding noise, jerk, vibrate, hesitate and slip out of gear.

Transmission make a grinding sound and car shudders at low speeds. This was repaired in February 2014 for the same issue. Now it is recurring.

Extreme transmission shudder. Jolting, jerking, shuddering, shaking, stalling. Had "dual clutch" replaced 3 times thus far. Requested a buyback, buyback denied. Had a couple more repair attempts and now the can't isn't running fully - sent it certified letter from a lawyer and trying to go through the buy back process again before going to court. Had 3 near accidents. This car is a lemon and extremely unsafe.

Transmission started vibrating and causing the car to jump and shutter. And wear my tires down.
