36 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

I have bought my car in 2014 January for a good mileage and stylish look. The vehicle perform well for couple months. Later, I have brought my car to the Ford service in 2014 July with a complain of transmission and safety. Since then I have been in and out of the dealership with automatic transmission problems. My Fiesta now has 43k miles and has been to the dealer 2 times for transmission work if I would have time I would definitely bring my car to the service more. It is very unsafe. The last two visits have resulted in major repairs in an attempt to fix the problem and still the problem persists. The transmission shudders, hesitates, and lurches in stop and go traffic or when slowing then starting up again such as at a stop light or stop sign. Again it is very unsafe to drive this car I am going to claim a lawsuit against them.

37 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Transmission shudders when accelerating from a stop. This is a fairly regular problem that can increase the probability of an accident. . . I have had two very close calls due to my inability to accelerate through a left hand turn at an intersection. I was told that this is a "common" issue with this 6 speed, dual clutch, auto tranny. Unacceptable.

38 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2014 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

The transmission has been shaking and hesitating on acceleration since about 1 1/2 months after I got it. When it tries to switch gears it jerks and acts like it doesnt want to pull. The rpm's will rev up to about 4,000 and then drop down to about 1,500 and I will have to let off the gas entirely for it to steady out. The car shakes and jerks so hard at times that it feels like it is going to fall apart. I called the dealership and they say nothing is wrong with it, although ive known of several people to have issues with their Fiesta transmissions and I have read of multiple having accidents due to their acceleration issues.

39 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

Delivered on 7/8/13 dealer: jersey city Ford. Dear Ford, we are upset over the repeated problems with our 2013 Ford Fiesta, brand new on 7/18/2013. The car has been bucking, grinding and almost stalling. When we called to complain or ask questions we were told that this was normal. The next call and visit for repair we were told it was the new transmission/ power shift on the Fiestas & focus. Also informed there was an "open recall" on a part that is involved in the clutch of these new vehicles. They say it sounds/drives and feels like a manual transmission but its good on gas. Well, the problem with this is, we turned in a 2011 Ford focus se with this same transmission that is in the 2013 cars and no way did we have these problems. Here are the following times we went to jc Ford repair: oct 18, 2013 - same day states problem with transmission. May 2, 2014 - oil change, complained about transmission but not on documents. May 21, 2014 - left car for a reboot of electronics on the car and picked the vehicle up on may 23, 2014. They ordered part due to "hesitation and shutter" in transmission (they said it was the clutch; open recall on a part). May 28, 2014 left vehicle at Ford for replacement of parts and reboot of electronics, picked vehicle up on June 4, 2014. When we picked up the car on June 4th, 2014, my wife pulled out of the garage and went 3 blocks and turned back to the Ford garage. Vinnie, the repair section manager called the mechanic that did the repair and had him take a test drive with her. The car sounded and ran worse than when we brought it in and had a new sound, the front end or wheels were making noise, breaks were shaky and the same transmission problem sound was still there.

40 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

The transmission grinds and rattles at 35-45 mph. Transmission serviced under TSB# 14-0131 to no avail.

41 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Transmission shudders, lurches and loss of power.

42 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Jerks and shudders when accelerating constantly - on highways and city streets. Transmission makes a grinding noise when driving. Sometimes will take a few seconds to accelerate at all - this is very dangerous on highways because the car will get "stuck" and not accelerate.

43 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

Transmission started shuddering shifting into 2nd gear. I believe it is also doing the samething going into 4th gear. Uphill sometimes it can't get out of it's own way. Had no problems until now. Car was fun to drive and getting 40mpg. Taking it to dealer tomorrow. We'll see.

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The transmission makes grinding noises in gears 3 to 6 Ford mechanic says it is normal, there is nothing normal about it. I don't dare go on the highway. There are many complaints on the internet why isn't Ford doing anything?.

45 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 03/20/2013

I own a 2013 Ford Fiesta. We bought it new off the lot. A month after purchase the vehicle's transmission started to sputter and fail to shift into gear. Several times it was a little nerve racking and unsafe because the vehicle would fail to accelerate in a timely manner. This is a big problem when you try to merge with traffic or pass another vehicle, or even travel through an intersection. We have taken the vehicle to Ford 4 different times to get fixed and nothing seems to work, it just gets worse. Now the vehicle shakes when the transmission tries to shift, my wife had to pull over and stop on the freeway because the vehicle would not shift into a gear. She almost got hit by another vehicle.

46 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 03/17/2013

In February 2012, my Ford Fiesta (automatic dual-clutch transmission) had barely 15,000 miles on it. The dealership found a transmission leak when I took the car in for regular maintenance, and the dealership kept the car to work on it for two weeks. On March 17, 2013, I was about to return home from an out of town trip when the car gave a 'transmission malfunction' message, at which point the transmission began making grinding noises when trying to shift, jerking, and then it wouldn't go in reverse. I had to call roadside assistance to have my car transported to a local dealership to have the car fixed. The Ford dealership still has not been able to tell me the specific problem with the vehicle or what is being done to fix it. This car has 28,870 miles on it at this time.

47 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 01/10/2013

Transmission makes a grinding sound and shudders when shifting. When you go to turn a corner the car shudders so bad it almost stalls. When driving up hills when tha transmission shifts it starts to shudder and you almost stall.

48 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 11/09/2012

While pulling out into traffic, transmission shuddered and failed to operate causing traffic to come to a halt. This was the first incident. Several times afterwards, transmission would shudder and vibrate while shifting gears. Took to dealership in November of 2012 when this first occurred and they updated the transmission program. This update did not fix the problem. Returned to the dealership on February 22, 2013 for the same problem and they're reply was, "this is normal". This is not normal, this car is a death trap. I only drive this vehicle about 9 miles to work a day and I feel very unsafe driving it.

49 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

I bought a 2013 Ford Fiesta in October of 2012 and I have 13000 miles on it and today 4-17-13 is the 3rd time I?ve dropped the car off at the dealer ship to have the transmission worked on. The first time the dealership rebuilt the transmission, the 2nd time they said they couldn?t find anything and I am waiting to hear from the shop to see what they say today. My transmission has a grinding sound, when I push the accelerator it sometimes doesn?t engage and drive forward until I let my foot off and then repress the accelerator. When sitting in rush hour traffic it will lunge forward. I am not happy with the time I?ve spent or having to do this many trips to the dealership to have a brand new car fixed. They need to do something about this. How can this many people be unhappy and nobody does anything to make Ford recall their transmissions.

50 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2013 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/29/2012

Transmission started grinding while trying to accelerate from sitting idle. Brakes locked up 3 different times while I had my foot on the brake. The transmission revs very high with any street that is not completely flat. When I sit at a stop light it will roll backward when I try to go. It is an automatic transmission.

51 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 09/27/2012

My 2012 Ford Fiesta se has the powershift 6 speed automatic transmission. In less that a year, the transmission shuddering problems started. You can feel and hear the shuddering in first, second and now sometimes third gear. The transmission has been in for software upgrades 3 times, has had one transmission rebuild, and I'm now three weeks waiting on my third new clutch to try to fix the problem. Ford motor company has obviously been fielding complaints about the powershift transmission for several years, yet other than extending the warranty, has done nothing to actually fix the problem. I bought the car new and was hoping to get 200k miles from it, I don't see that happening. It's time for a national recall on these cars / transmissions!.

52 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2012 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 05/12/2012

This is to add to the many complaints about the Ford Fiesta transmission clutch shudder. I bought my car new, it began shuddering in a few months. I've brought it in to dealer for repairs 4 times in 4 years. The last time I was told there is a long, long wait for replacement of a faulty clutch with another faulty clutch. The Ford company has extended a useless warranty up to 150,000 miles, which strongly suggests the company is going to wait out the functional life of the car . The danger, in this case, is the financial loss incurred when trading in a car with a known fault for which the manufacturer is to blame, and receiving full value for a faultless trade-in.

53 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

I recently purchased a brand new 2011 Ford Fiesta. In the past 5 months I have taken it to the dealership I purchased it from 5 times because the transmission makes a loud grinding noise and lurches forward when I am on a hill or in stop and go traffic. I have contacted Ford directly and got the same response as when I took it to the dealer. They both say it is "normal". After contacting Ford directly the service manager at my local Ford contacted me and went on a test drive with me where he said he both heard and felt what I was talking about. He then took a car right off the lot for a test drive and told me that one did not do any of the things mine is doing. A couple hours later I get a call from him stating Ford has told him this is normal for the car to make these noises and lurch forward and that there is nothing else they can do for me. Assuring me that the car is under warranty and that if the transmission fails it will be covered. I drive 70 miles a day in rush hour traffic on hills and to me this is a huge safety concern. There are many people that have complained to Ford about the same problem so they did the TSB for this issue and it made the problem worse now when I am on a hill the car rolls back and the grinding noise is worse. I took the car back right after they performed the TSB and told them and they are still saying this is normal.

54 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 05/11/2011

Since I bought this car, the transmission has grinded. Ford claims that the grinding is normal. A transmission grinding is far from normal. I have links of many people with the same problem. Ford is beating around the bush with the problem and not doing a thing about it. Something needs to be done. . Read more...

55 Transmission Shudder problem of the 2011 Ford Fiesta

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

2011 Ford Fiesta automatic transmission shifts erratically and intermittently whenever upshifting from 1st to 2nd gear. Engine/transmission shakes and sometimes makes clanking noises. Engine also seems to stay engaged to clutch (or whatever transmission mechanism engages engine to drive train) at all times, because sudden hard braking can stop engine. Dealership has tried to fix transmission problem(s) at least three times, and computer firmware 'upgrades' have been downloaded to transmission controller(s) at least twice by dealership. Problems have not been resolved.
