The rear window shattered while the vehicle was parked. I believe it was from the cold weather after using the rear defrost.

My back windshield imploded when I got into my car and closed the door. I leased this car on Aug 30, 2011 and the mileage is about 7000 miles. Ford said they would not warranty this replacement glass as there were external causes. I have a witness that states when I closed the door, the back windshield turned grey, and imploded. According to my warranty, p. 13, this should be covered in first 12 months/12,000 miles, no matter the reason. The car was parked in a lot, no indication of anything untoward happening to it.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Focus. While the unoccupied vehicle was parked, the rear passenger window glass exploded with an extremely loud noise. The vehicle sustained no impact or force. The contact stated that the window glass shattered throughout the interior and exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 31,000.

We were driving our 2009 Ford Focus home on the highway when we hear a loud noise. Scared all of us. Then I hear glass falling on the cover of sunroof. The thing had exploded and shattered!!! not cracked but shattered! thank god that I had that cover closed because I was driving about 65 mph. The glass did not fall into small circles like I have been told the glass should have. The odd thing is the glass is pushed outward like someone kicked from the inside. It is a 2009 still under warranty. The dealership took pictures and emailed them to headquarters for a decision if the warranty would cover it. It came back denied. They won't do anything. So I called the insurance company and they are taking care of it all except $50. But the more research online I'm finding out that this is a common thing. People are just driving with alone the highway and it explodes. Most of them have their sunroofs close but some have had them slide all the way open and they hear something, to only slide it close and see it is shattered. So if you have a sunroof and driving with it closed on the highway. . . Make sure you keep the cover pulled closed. I hate to think of what the glass could have done to the girls if it had been open.

I purchased my 2001 Ford Focus se in March 2001. The first window regulator broke in 2004, leaving one rear window in the down position and unable to open; it just stopped working. The 2nd regulator broke in 2006, leaving the other rear window in the down position and unable to open; also just stopped working one day. The 3rd regulator broke (front driver's side) on 6/23/2010 only this time, the regulator didn't just fail and stop working, the whole thing burst into pieces when I attempted to roll the window up and shattered the window while I was driving. Glass came raining down inside the vehicle, leaving a minor cut to my leg (because it was very minor, I'm not considering it an "injury" and checked the "no" field below). Fortunately, I was driving in a parking lot when it happened so low speeds didn't allow the glass to blow around but if I had been on the freeway doing high speeds, I could have potentially experienced severe cuts from the shattering glass flying into my vehicle. The first two window regulators that broke (both rear) have not been replaced as of yet, I couldn't afford the parts (quoted as $120 each at the time) so vice grips are inside the door holding the windows up, both faulty regulators are still available. The front drivers side had new glass placed in it on 6/24/2010 and cost $146. 00. They did not have a regulator at the repair shop so that window is now also being held up by other means and the faulty regulator is still available for that window as well. I plan on replacing all 4 of them this weekend, even though only 3 have broken at this point, I'm sure the 4th is soon coming so it will be replaced as well. I have found numerous online complaints about regulators breaking on this model vehicle so it appears to be a common problem, but when glass starts shattering while driving, that significantly raises the risk/safety factor and cause for concern.

The vehicle Ford Focus have had 6 different safety recalls in one year. This is annoying and inconvenient for the consumer to have to take my time to get a new car fixed. Your organization should make sure the cars meet the standards before they go out. No safety defect, strictly informational.
