Windshield Wiper/washer Motor Problems of Ford Focus

The contact was informed that the windshield wiper motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2003 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the windshield wiper motor in his vehicle would not return to the off (park) position. When he turned it off, the wipers would stop in the middle of the windshield. Nhtsa campaign id number 01v258000 only included the 2000-2001 models. The contact owns a 2003 Ford Focus. On three occasions, three window motor regulators have failed in the vehicle. The failure was noticed while driving 30 mph. The front driver side and both rear windows failed and were repaired at the owner's expense. The purchase date was unknown. The current mileage was 76,100 and failure mileage was 75,700.

The wipers on this car do the exact same thing my 2000 Ford Focus did that had a recall they don not want to return to the home position.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus with identical problems, wiper does not stow - as there are other reported vehicles - will NHTSA direct Ford to "recall" or fix later model year for this same issue? the virginia safety inspection failed my car for this issue - stated Ford would fix, Ford dealer has no requirement, as this is not a "recalled year".

Windshield wiper motor on my Ford Focus. They slowly stopped working and then the hole unit went out on my 2 year old car. There is showing a recall for 2003 to 2005 Ford Focus wiper motors but some how my car is not on that recall. Nothing has been fixed yet because my extended warranty does not cover the wiper motor . This is an on going issue and a safety issue that Ford should have to fix. . . This is why we pay so much money for these cars.

Windshield wiper motor goes if it gets clogged up with a small amount of snow. The way the car is designed when you brush the car off from snow, some of it lodges into area that is hard to get the snow out of, when wipers are turned on the motor does not work. Had this replaced approx 4 or 5 months ago, and now it has happened again. I was told by the Ford service dept this has happened to other Focus owners. I have owned many different cars of varying makes and models and this is the first time I have ever had this problem, it is definately a design flaw. Some type of guard needs to be installed to protect it from snow and ice.

Windshield wiper motor went, this car is 2 years old and has 58,000 miles on it, cost to repair $298+ this is the third expensive repair on this 2002 Ford Focus, the other two were wheel related and locking door locks that were quite expensive to repair as well.

While driving in inclement weather windshield wipers failed to come on. Dealer was aware of this problem which was intermittent.

While parked, the vehicle caught on fire, possibly due to the windshield wiper motor which was recalled, the fire department stated that is where the fire originated. (claim#34-5037-171).
