The contact owns a 2008 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, a loud popping noise occurred as the sunroof suddenly detached from the vehicle. The contact indicated that the sunroof was closed when the defect occurred. After the incident, the contact discovered rusting and corrosion located where the sunroof was positioned. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 130,000.

It was 5:00 a. M I was driving to work on i215 freeway. There was no road construction, no other vehicles around me and I heard and felt what I thought was a gunshot, however, it wasn't. The 2012 sunroof exploded up. Thank goodness there wasn't any other traffic! I continued driving to work and as soon as the sun came up I took pictures and immediately call the rental company. They told me they had never heard of this before and to bring it back. When I took it back later in the afternoon, they supposedly called the manufacturer and I was told I would be responsible. It obviously was a defect of the 2012 Ford Focus and I am not going to pay. Today I received an invoice from them. I am contacting a lawyer as well as a local news reporter.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 65 mph with the sun roof closed and the glass shattered. Nothing hit the sun roof nor was she driving underneath an overpass. She immediately drove the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer advised her that the sunroof glass needed to be replaced and the vehicle was repaired. Driving on highway 65 mph than I heard a loud boom and glass was all over me . The sun roof had shattered . Pulled over very scared that I may have been cut. Sunroof was vented open when this happened . Dealership refuses to replace at their cost . Had to report to insurance company. I was driving down the road, at 55-60 mph and all of a sudden I heard a loud bang, well my sunroof just exploded from the inside out. Nothing hit it, the roads were bare, I wasn't under any trees, nothing. There's a big hole, and surrounding the hole the glass is shattered. I took pictures of it. The glass is pointed out, not in. If something had fell on it, there would have been a lot of glass inside the vehicle but there wasn't. Its a brand new car! 2009 Ford Focus. Haven't even had it a year. Company wont cover it under warranty because they believe something hit it. I said no. I did my research and found 3 other Ford vehicles that have had the same thing happen. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be looked at. Its unsafe. I could have had little pieces of glass in my eye!!! or if I had a passenger they would have gotten all these little shards of glass on them. Completely ridiculous. Something needs to be done.

Ford sport ka has produced a commercial showing a cat being decapitated as itshead is looking into the vehicle via the power sun roof. As the sunroof closes the cat's head is severed. This commercial while meant to be humorous only to Ford clearly demonstrates the clear danger of serious injury and death to pets and children. I formally request that this commercial be scene and reviewed as a demonstration by Ford that it's sunroofs on this vehicle and possibly other Ford vehicles is inherantly unsafe to children but not providing a resistance mechanism that would retract the moving roof when met with resistance e. G. A childs head or body part.

The passenger side of my car on the floor is soaked with water drainage due to a defective sunroof. I have taken the car back to the dealer 3 times, and 3 times they have told me the problem has been corrected. The last time I took the car to the dealer for this problem was 1/7/02. Today is 1/25/02 and the passenger side is soaked again. I have to wait until Monday to take the car back because the "water doctor" only comes on mondays. I am not a mechanic but I know there is something wrong. Please help, I don't want my warranty to run out before they fix it. Help.

I have tried to have this problem fixed but community Ford says that it does not cause a problem. Unless it is hitting something or scraping something . No safety defect.

Consumers vehicle is leaking water from sunroof. The carpet is loose due to constant removal. Please provide any further information.
