Long story short. . . . My vehicle will increase throttle on it's own when sitting at a light in traffic or without traffic. Sometimes when I release the brake to take off it will throttle up just before and then stall out. I am only able to restart the car if I turn of the air conditioning. Today as with many other days, the throttle increased while attempting to slowly back out of a parking space. I slammed on the brakes to get the car to stop as the throttle contiued to increase and then stall out. I have noticed severely increasing incidents of this happening and am scared to drive my car. I have no other options. Please help me with this issue. I don't want to die or kill someone else because the car seems to have a mind of its own and my efforts to control the car are futile at times.
I just bought my vehicle and started noticing some issues with the car racing/idling fast. Several times it would lung forward while driving and while foot was on brake almost hitting a car, then stalled & reduced speed and wouldn't accelerate. The wrench light came on. Took it too oreillys and found it is the throttle and throttle sensor. This is a serious issue and dangerous. I want it fixed by Ford ASAP!.

Throttle body stuck closed, forcing limp home mode - stall in middle of highway, Ford recall 12n03 did not work - after idling, there is a power surge which lunges vehicle forward while in drive at a stop sign, happened directly after service.
With the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle will lurch forward when putting in forward gear. Vehicle stalled while driving and also when making turns in residential area. Almost hit another vehicle because the power steering went out.

The contact was not able to drive the vehicle for several months due to the intermittent failures. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
Had a previous recall done to clean throttle body for cold start stall it ran fin for a couple of weeks when one Sunday we were on the interstate my wife was driving at the time when suddenly it was like some one shut the engine off, we were in very heavy traffic with traffic moving fast my wife become very scared she had no power steering or brakes cars were locking their brakes blowing horns and passing around us I shifted the car to neutral for we were still rolling about 50 by then and had her try and restart car which it did and we resumed speed to the next pull over, I contacted the dealer and someone in Ford quality and was told I would have to pay check out fees and it was not a warranty nor goodwill item. Since we reluctantly take the Ford we use our older chevy instead, I have used the Ford several times since the incident and it acts up every time, I am on disability and cannot afford the cost for check . Out fees after reading dozens of blogs there seems to be a problem in the throttle body, and this is a big safety issue, I am a retired Ford technician forced to due to cancer, we need help with our car and for you to be aware of the dangerous problem these cars are having, had I not been with my wife the first time this occurred there could have been a serious accident, I have been on line and talked with many other people with the same problem, some not as lucky as us. I think Ford needs to first ck the recall they did and then find out why I am having this dilemma, after 24 years. As a Ford tech I have never come across something as scary and dangerous as this. A word of feedback would be greatly appreciated thank [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
At 49,660 miles we had to have the throttle body changed because the car lunged forward and stalled out. On June 19, 2012 our 2007 Ford Freestyle was serviced with a transmission flush and fluid change, and a multi-point inspection. Everything looked good. On Nov. 5, 2012 it would rev up when driving and would not accelerate. After researching, we found out that the cvt transmission that was put in the 2005-2007 Ford Freestyle is a defective design that poses numerous safety concerns. Ford does not even make the transmission any more, so our only choice is to pay over $5000 for a used/rebuilt one that may have the same problems. Our car is only 5 years old. We have taken good care of it. We need a reliable vehicle and do not have the money to fix this. Please have Ford recall these faulty cvt transmissions and have more concern for safety and customer satisfaction.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 to 70 mph the vehicle would stall without any warning and then turned it self back on. Also, the vehicle would lunge forward on an intermittent basis. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The current mileage was approximately 80,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Backing from driveway into the street, car surged but was able to stop it when brake applied. At that point the vehicle stalled. Able to restart and continue without incident but warning "wrench" light was on indicating throttle / transmission fault was detected and service required. After restarting later that day no problems noticed and no warning light. This was the most severe case so far but had noticed some small surging in prior weeks both in reverse and drive when starting out both from cold start and from restart conditions. Further research suggests this is a well know throttle body problem for Ford Freestyle / 500 / montego models from 2005 / 2006 timeframe. Safety risk is significant, cannot let other family members or any less experienced operators drive this vehicle until the problem is addressed. Replacement or at least maintenance for this known faulty system should be provided at no charge by the manufacturer.
We were in a parking lot. I had just shifted in to reverse and lighted up on the brake, and the car throttled backwards. I quickly pressed the brake and the car stalled or quit. I started the car again and the car throttled backwards again. I pressed the brake, but it didn't stall this time. I slowly released the brake and was able to back out of my spot. A little while later, having arrived at another destination, about 10 miles away, I was pulling into a parking spot, in drive, and after releasing the throttle, to apply the break as I was coasting in, the car 'throttled' again. Fortunately, there was not another vehicle in the space in front of me or I would have probably had a fender bender.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while reversing, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The contact also stated that months later while driving approximately 55 mph uphill, the vehicle began to jerk abnormally. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000 and the current mileage was 67,695.
Well its been happening for awhile now my 2005 Freestyle has the tendency to lung forward and in reverse in low speeds or even at stops causing the car to rattle and stall or go into engine protect mode which makes it drive very slow. But its is happening more frequent. I also notice that the tranny wines now and one of the engine mounts is broke. Very unsafe to drive my wife wont even let me take my kids in the car. Very frustrating that Ford has not done anything about this what does it take someone to get killed?????.
Road trip from bc to ontario, driving through mountains, first occurrence in chase, bc, at dairy queen car lunged in drive through, heard whiny noise from engine, gets worse when turning steering wheel. Last occurrence on trip, driving back into hope, bc, after cruise control want to speed up a bit but no power, get out of cruise control and car stalls while going about 60 kph!!! manage to get off the highway onto merging lane. Husband checked fluid levels but everything is topped up. Manage to start up again after 3 tries and get home safely. Address is in canada, please ignore californa and zip code.
When I shift from park to drive or reverse while applying the brakes the vehicle will lung foward. Recently check engine came on and had hard time stopping vehicle and stalled. Luckily did not hit anything or person. Took vehicle to Ford dealer and they stated I had trouble codes: po61 and p2106. Ford stated that I needed a new throttle body. Replaced throttle body and seems to have stopped stalling and lunging. Also have issues with upper motor mount and ac.
While sitting in traffic with ac on and car lunged forward hesitated and went into fail safe mode. This has been an ongoing problem and the second time we've made a complaint. In 2005, approximately 4 months after purchasing the car Ford replaced the throttle body, as the it was still under warranty, car was fine for about 3-4 years. Then the same problems began occurring again. Lunging and stalling in 2010. In may of 2012 we had the throttle body replaced again, as it had gotten so bad the car was barely drivable. Every ten feet or so it would stall and go into fail safe mode. Throttle body was replaced on may 13 2012, and the issue was resolved immediately until yesterday. Obviously the throttle body is defective, even after Ford supposedly redesigned it in 2007. Am I going have to spend 600. 00 every year to have the same part replaced because Ford won't issue a recall on an obviously defective part.
Pulling into parking space facing restaurant, with foot on brake pedal, car lunged forward. Curbing kept me from hitting people walking into restaurant. A/c compressor replaced a few day prior to this incidence; however, car has been lunging since a/c compressor was replaced. The day the ac compressor was replaced and I drove the car off of the Ford dealership lot, my car lunged pulling into parking space at the post office -- I thought the floor mat had gotten caught on the gas pedal and was causing the problem the lunging happens both going forward and backwards. Took car back to Ford dealership where a/c compressor was installed; gentleman at "quick lube" desk said he had never heard of this problem with the Freestyle or at least he had never written up a service report for this problem. Have discovered on-line numerous entries regarding this problem with the Freestyle. Feel Ford motor company should take responsibility for correcting this problem.
The car will lunge almost uncontrollably when stopped at any length of time with air conditioning on. This will make the car stall out and cause the wrench light to come on rendering the car to operate in safety mode.
I've noticed the car to lunge and idling very high. When I back out of a parking stall for instance, the car lunges out and I have to keep my foot on the brake. When I'm at a full stop; at times you can hear the car idling very high and when you let go of brake the car lunges out. During traffic, you have to make sure you continually keep the brake on, or the car will thrust forward and hit the vehicle ahead.

The car lunges forward. It happen in forward or reverse gear. Ac in on position. It has happen when car starts moving or while it is moving at lower speeds. No accidents, just close calls. In driveways, drive thru's. Moving on streets and parking lots. Having to apply brakes harder. Car stalls at hotter outside temperatures.

I was taking my two children to school turned to cross over railroad tracks and car stalled on the tracks. I tried to restart & everytime I took my foot of the accelerator the car stalled. Finally I was able to get the car to move with my foot on the accelerator & brake. The car continued to stall when my car came close to a stop. I had my car checked last year for lunging & Ford could not find anything, & it continues to lunge now it is stalling. I was just lucky there was not a train coming or my kids & I could have been hurt.
