Car surged when backing out of parking space then went into limp mode. Took to the shop and it needed the throttle body replaced. I see that has been an issue with this make/model for a lot of people. Looks like there was a corrective action taken but it expired 1 yr ago. Why did Ford not notify owners of this and why does a known problem have an expiration?.

When I turn on the ac in my vehicle the vehicle starts to lunge all of a sudden and I can be at a complete stop and it does it. Also when I have my ac on my truck just turns off and it is scary because there is no warning it just turns off. I have two children and this is very scary to go through. Please help me in trying to resolve this problem so that I do not have to go through this and cause an accident. Also there is no way I can be driving without my ac with these three digit weather climates.
Engine lost acceleration power while driving due to a clogged throttle body while on a highway. Google search indicates this is a common complaint with 2006 and 2007 Freestyles.

My engine lite came on I took it to o'reily to have it check out. They gave me thecodes to the throttle body. When I call Ford dealer they said that it was not under recall any more. I did not recieve a notice thatthis was a defect in the car. It idles in park when you are at the stop ;lite and when itgoes int reverse. If your footnot on the brake it moves. I have sent a letter to you about three weeks ago no response. Sent a letter to Ford no response.
My 2007 Ford Freestyle cuts off repeatedly after almost every red light stop. I saw a lot of complaints about this matter with different Ford Freestyles and no one seems to know the cause. Mainly anytime I apply the brakes the cut shuts off and puts myself and family in life- threatening situations. Also, the vehicle idles high while my feet on on the breaks.
I drove into a parking space, set for park. The car just shot forward and hit a wall. The engine riffed loud, for a few second. Could not redo the brakes. The wall was onle about 8 to 10 feet from me. The car was not in motion, because I just put it in park. It happen in a parkiong lot at cbs pharmacy. 1588 trancas street, napa, CA 94558 on March 14 2016 at 5:30 pm. There should be a police report. I had to go to the hospital, to check my back, because I had just surgery 3 weeks before, febr. 22 2016. I never received a recall, and I do my service at Ford Lincoln dealer in napa CA, soscol avn. I think there is a problem with the accelerator or ???my right front end is damaged. Filed claim with the insurance. I need this problem fixed.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. While driving approximately 30 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate past 2 mph. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was previously repaired under a manufacturer's recall; however, the remedy failed to prevent the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000. The VIN was unavailable.
I got into the car to start it and the engine light was on, and I smelled smoke, the car was parked in my garage.
On my 2006 Freestyle, that I purchased on 4/01/2014 from northway motor car in latham, NY,it suddenly jerked forward and shut off today. Upon trying to restart the vehicle ran on an unstable idle and both my service engine and engine wrench light appeared on the dash. The Freestyle would not move, upon putting it into gear it ran low idle and then shut down. Once my local garage ran a diagnostic test it referenced the throttle body being bad?? so now looking up recalls I find natsa action number :pe11018. Of course the extended warranty program 12n03 is only to 10 years or 150,000 miles. Great !!! I now have 180,100 miles and a loan for still over $3000. I am under the 10 year mark but over the milage, despite buying this from a major car dealer who could have had this problem fixed before selling it to me when it only had 148,322miles !!!! I am stuck with looking at a vehicle that doesnt run and wont untill I shell out over $750 for parts and labor on a natsa action that should still be covered !! is there any help for me or way to get this service done per the csp 12n03 ?? please advise ASAP !! I am disabled and retired do to the disability and have a very limited budget.

Today (08/26/2015) while emerging into oncoming traffic my car refused to accelerate. It would never rise above 20 mph. Thankfully I was down the street from my mechanic. An otherwise two minute drive took fifteen minutes of my allowing the car to just coast because it would never accelerate when I pushed on the gas. After praying and finally making to the shop, he placed the diagnostic mac of thine on it only to inform me that it is the electronic throttle body was opened. I searched for a recall or something to offset the cost but I have been unsuccessful thus far. This was a very frightening experience and thankfully one where I didn't get injured due to cars almost hitting me, running up on my bumper even with the flashers on, it's not fair that this complaint is closed. What if someone got seriously injured or even died because the car just suddenly refused to accelerate. Or even began to surge out into traffic. This matter needs to be re evaluated for the safety of all the customers who own this vehicle.
Engine lost power while driving on the garden state pkwy. No engine lights came on it hesitated to accelerate after leaving a toll booth and kicked off. I was told the car had a cylinder that was not firing and I needed a new engine. Upon the dealership pulling the engine they verified the engine was well maintained by me and the cause of the cylinder blow out was due to the timing chain blowing apart. My son could have been killed . Their was no engine light warning no transmission light and he had to cross over 4 lanes of high speed traffic to get to the shoulder of the garden state pkwy. I had the engine replaced and 6 weeks later upon picking up the vehicle it now has a transmission problem the day I picked up the car it would not accelerate over 60mph for me to enter traffic. It still does not climb steep hills. The car revs in rpms to 5 and feels like it it now getting air or fuel. When driving on flat surfaces transmission shifts fine. Help.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. When starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse or drive at 2 mph, the vehicle would lunge forward or backwards as the brake pedal was depressed. In addition, the check engine and the wrench warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 190,000.
I was driving my car and the wrench indicator came on, my car would not accelerate. I've taken my car to the repair shop and was infromed there is a known issued with Ford Freestyle 2005-2006 and the cvt transmission. I reviewed and it appears Ford knows this is an issue, but refuses to recall/repair it. I will be seeking legal action if Ford does not pursue a recall on this vehicle and it's known issue with the cvt transmission.
While driving down a 45 mph road, the car lost all power, no acceleration, there was a truck behind us that almost hit us. We were able to pull over , we turned off the car and started back up and continued driving. We took the car to mechanic and they diagnostically tested it and he said immediatley four codes pulled up pointing to the electronic throttle body. With research I found out that even if you did pay for a new throttle body or cleaning, it will happen again because the throttle body malfunctions on itself, in addition throttle body works hand in hand with the transmission, type cvr which is not made anymore do to its failures. Ford failed to recall this vehicle and its electronic engine etb on a car which Ford only manudactured for three years, I wonder why. . . . . Well we could have been seriously injured, thank god we weren`t, but the investigation on the etb should be reopened for safety issues.
Car accelerates. . . Lunges. . . As I am about to park. I bought this car for my 16 year old to learn how to drive and so unhappy with it! last summer, only weeks after buying it, the car suddenly won't accelerate and the rpms go way up without acceleration. Wont go over 25 mph. Turn it off at grocery store, turn it on again and problem gone. Now this spring same thing but continual now. Busy downtown and car wont go over 25 mph. Wrench light on again! so unhappy. Googled the problem and multiple complaints of same thing. Why is Ford not held accountable?.
Vehicle lunges forward when driver's foot has the brake pressed while pulling into a parking space prior to shifting into park.
When I am driving my car it will start to take off without me pushing down on the gas pedal. I am having issues when trying to put the car in reverse, the car will hesitate while driving in reverse. When putting the car in drive or reverse the car will jump.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. While driving at low speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and the engine revved. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000. The VIN was not available.
We were pulling out of a parking lot into traffic on a highway and the wrench light came on and we lost all power to the vehicle. The vehicle had to be shut off and then started back up in the middle of the road. Another incident happened on my way to work and there were cars behind me. I was able to make it to the side of the road to start it back up. The third incident happened again on my way to work and then the engine light illuminated and when I had it checked the codes p2104 and p2111 came up. The thottle body was stuck opened and in a bind. I was almost hit during the second incident and feel that this is a serious safety issue. I am glad that I wasn't on the interstate going 65 or 70 mph. The car almost came to a complete stop on its own in the matter of a few yards.

While driving on the highway with my four children the wrench light suddenly came on & my car was put in "safe mode" which caused my car to stop on the highway after losing all power. I was very close to be slammed into from behind. Had engine light that came on read & was told the throttle body was stuck open. Took it to local Ford dealership where they cleaned the throttle body. Drove normal for a week & now repeated same issue. Car doesn't want to accelerate & goes into safe mode shutting down at random times. Also sitting in line at my children's school the car surged forward while foot on brake almost hitting car in front of me. Ford dealership says extended warranty only covered a cleaning & not replacement of a part they know is faulty.
Engine surges at idie speed , and when taking corners. It is also worse when air conditioner is on. Very dangerous condition when not expected. I had it looked at by my local Ford dealer, but it has continued. Ford so called cleaning of throtle body did nothing to eliviate the problem.
A little over 3 years ago, I filed a complaint regarding a surging with my Ford Freestyle. We had our vehicle serviced and the throttle body cleaned. The problem was resolved for a while, but we recently started experiencing issues again. This time the Freestyle would lose acceleration, the rpms dropped, and a wrench-shaped warning light activated. At first it seemed to be an issue only when cruise control was activated, but has since happened during normal driving. We took our car into the dealer, and they completely replaced the throttle body for a total of $900, but we are still having issues.
Car was financed and purchased used from authorized Ford dealer in 2007 @ approx. 64k miles. Previous owner was registered as Ford motor CO. , indiana. On 12 Jun 2014, without warning, the continuously-variable transmission (cvt) first showed signs of a problem: failing to shift out of lower speed gear from a stop to higher gears during travel. Problem was remedied temporarily by shifting from d to r and back to d while stopped. The problem recurred sporadically, but within last week frequency of problem has increased while awaiting service appointment. This morning, 13-Aug-2014, transmission slipped and failed to engage in any forward gear while stopped at intersection, resulting in a complete loss of forward propulsion. Problem remedied by shifting from d to r and back to d, with significant difficultly. Service technician states that cvt failures in this make and model are common and recommends replacement of transmission with rebuilt (as transmission is no longer manufactured by Ford). Moreover, only Ford can perform the repair/replacement. No warning lights were activated during any of these events. Cost of repair will exceed value of car. $5800 or more versus $3600 trade-in or instant-cash offer price $1500. Ac compressor failure and rebuild (including rear ac) in 2012 cost $875.
The problem with this car and the throttle body has been going on for a while. I took the car to the Ford dealer but they only cleaned the throttle body when it needed replacement. The last event was in August 1 when while I was driving the fail safe mode came up and the car suddenly lost the power and wouldn't run faster than probably 0. 1 mile per hour. This was the second time this happened the first time I was with my kids in a major highway and the car suddenly stop running. Thank god I had a chance to steer to the emergency lane. Many people are having the same issue with the 2005-2007 Freestyle, this is a super safety issue and nobody is doing anything about it. When my car stopped I could have been hit on the back with a worst outcome. I got a tow truck and they took the car to the Ford dealer. Those people are not helpful at all and treated me with a bad attitude. Very expensive to change that's why Ford is not getting involved and only offered to clean the part in the extended warranty, knowing that that wouldn't fix the problem. Ford should have a recall for the throttle body part before somebody gets killed in a very serious accident that this problem could cause.
While driving on the highway the wrench light suddenly came on & my car was put in "safe mode" . This make my car stop. I almost slam another car. Had engine light that came on read & was told the throttle body was stuck open. Took it to local Ford dealership where they changed the throttle body. When the wrench light comes on the car doesn't want to accelerate & goes into safe mode. I took the car to a Ford dealer and was told the transmission has to be replaced but it wasreplaced few years ago.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. While accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle experienced a three to four second lag. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 104,902.
I was driving on the freeway roughly 65-70 mph and the failsafe engine mode came on, which disabled my gas pedal. I could not accelerate. I was in the far left lane, and had to "coast" with my hazard lights on so I could turn the car off while in park on the shoulder. I restarted the car and it went away. Thankfully traffic was light! earlier in the week this same thinghappened on my way to qwork I was on a 35 mph rd, and it did this, lost all use of the gas. Had to kill the car and restart but that time the check engine codes p2106 and p061b were drawn. (not the first time I've had these codes I know they mean throttle body'sbad) ii've kept my obdii scanner in the car cuz these codes come up once a week at least. I just keep erasing them, restarting the car, and drives fine till it randomly goes off again. Thus was the first time it has happened to me on the highway. It scared me to death that I would have been rear ended on a highway. Thse should be recalled. Ford claims there's no safety issue. I barely avoided a potential fatal crash!.
Driving up to 55, engine gets to 4000 rpms, and wont shift. Codes suggest bad mechatronic.
This vehicle looses complete power while driving. Runs sluggish and hesitates. . Took it to the dealership for possible recall (throttle body) dealer says not the issue need to replace alternator, and transmission, etc. . Called Ford motor company customer service for assistance to see if this was a known issue.
We had problems with it revving up wanted to go forward when parking. We had the throttle body cleaned , helped for a little while. Problems with the air conditioning had compressor replaced, then starting having electrical problems (failure safe mode engine would shut down) while driving . Had alternator replaced because all electrical starting shutting down and turning off while driving also transmisson was trying to go in reverse while driving reverse lights would come on very dangerous. Replaced body computer still didn't fix the problem to afraid to drive it . It was paid off but no one could fix the problems, how can you have a vehicle that no one can fix,we have been informed that Ford knew of these problems but would do nothing about them. Very disappointed we really liked the car when we got it.
Stopped at signal light, wrench light and engine light illuminated. When attempted to accelerate, vehicle rpm's moved erratically and vehicle would not drive above 35mph. Had vehicle towed to transmission shop and was told vehicle went into "fail safe mode" transmission is none repairable and needs to be replaced. Previously had car serviced under recall with throttle. One day prior, the car "surged/lunged" when put in reverse. Had recall done 12 months ago and just went over 12000 miles since work done.
