1 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2018 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/27/2024

I purchased the car January 17, 2024, few weeks later the check engine light came on then disappeared, I was also experiencing problems with the seat cooling function, as the touch screen controls was showing that they were both on and it was still winter/rainy season outside. I took the car innto Ford dealer at sanbernardino CA, they told me that most likely it was just a dashboard light malfunction because the diagnostics results came out fine and after researching in other manuals even though the seat cooling function was switched to "on", the car did not come equipped with seat cooling only heated seats. 3 weeks later after taking my car home, the check engine light came on again on y dashboard, I bought an obdii diagnostic tool, the result came back with 2 different powertrain codes that were strictly manufacturer codes. 1st code was p1450 which is defined as unable to bleed gas tank - excessive vaccum. 2nd code was p2196 which is defined by O2 sensor stuck trying to correct 1st code. The p2196 eventually cleared on its own but the p1450 became permanent. I had a diagnostic mechanic take a look at it and he told me the same thing, except that the main culprit is the purge flow valve, which is a recall issue on other Ford Fusions. When I purchased the car, I was showed that the car had no recalls but the "myford" app and ownership didnt transfer to me right away until 30 days after the purchase, which is when it finally let me viewed the cars prior service / maintanance history and even though the car sales lady showed me VIN records where it says there is no recalls and it had no accidents, records that she showed me 30 days prior to me gaining actual ownership thru "my Ford" when purchasing the vehicle. The "my Ford" app states that it seems as if the car was in an accident in the past because almost $8000 went into repairs towards transmission and other main components. California smog check records show that the car has only had 1 test in CA last sept 2023.

3 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

Several (all wheel drive )awd Ford vehicles ex. Fusion, edge, taurus use a (power transfer unit) ptu that fmoc call for no service needed, no drain plug only a fill port. The ptu is a basically a transfer case that small Ford Ford awd vehicles use to transfer engine power from the transmission to the rear wheels. The part is connected to the transmission surrounded by the engine, exhaust and catalytic converter, the ptu only hold a quart of lubricating fluid no cooling no service interval and all of the heat surrounding the unit bakes the lubrication causing lack of lubrication causing ptu and transmission failure. Repair quote from a Ford dealership on 1/29/2020 with a Ford remanufactured transmission and labor is $5000. 00 repair. This unit failure is in a 2007 Fusion with 92k miles other than the powertrain issue is a solid vehicle that perform great until the ptu and transmission failure with no warning. While driving at highway speeds the vehicle wheels locked up skidding the car to a stop and stalling the engine. Now it cracks and pops and locks up the wheels.

4 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable due to overheating and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to phil long Ford of motor city (1212 motor city dr, colorado springs, CO), but the failure could not be replicated. Barbee freeway Ford (4471 e evans Ave, denver, CO) was also contacted, but the failure could not be replicated. The dealer confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The vehicle was finally taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission and engine would have to be replaced. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

5 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/31/2015

The transmission cooling lines completely corroded end to end resulting in a catastrophic failure of the transmission. Fortunately, this occurred locally and was able to bring the car back to my residence. Should the need arisen to accelerate away from oncoming traffic or avoid an accident, the failure of these lines would have prevented that and could have resulted in an accident or fatality. For a car that is only 5 years old, there is an inordinate amount of corrosion on the frame and suspension components of this car. I compare this to a 14 vw golf with 160,000 miles and 7 year old BMW with 108,000 and neither exhibit corrosion of this magnitude. Through Ford Fusion/Mercury milan/Lincoln mkz forums that this is a common occurrence. I have been in touch with my local Ford dealer and have that this part is back ordered over 10 days resulting in the need to rent a car.

6 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Ford Fusion 2010 has defective engine fuel system/computer identifying the throttle body as the non-functional part causing a safety hazard to self and others. At 60 mph freeway speed the car goes into an instant "low rpm mode", causing complete loss of foot pedal control and rpm immediately reduced to 800. At this point the car is an unguided missile looking to strike something. The power steering is non existent. My car did this on 8-19-2013 with only 12303 miles on it. This has to be an electrical malfunction of the throttle body sensing circuitry being defective. It is only a little more time until this gets someone killed. After stopping with a dead engine, starting again results in very rough idling and no more than 800 rpm, which is incapable of moving the car. Shutoff the ignition, check and have good oil and transmission and cooling levels. Started the car again and it was back to normal, until one block later at a stop light. . . . . . Same thing again. If Ford does not do a recall on this, they will have to spend money on the relatives of the dead people's lawsuits!.
