The contact's wife owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle started overheating as indicated on the instrument panel. The vehicle then shifted into limp mode. The contact pulled over to the shoulder and allowed the vehicle to cool off however, the vehicle became inoperable. The vehicle was towed to dick smith Ford of columbia (7201 garners ferry rd, columbia, SC 29209) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. Several unknown trouble codes were cleared and the vehicle was returned to the contact. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure recurred twice and was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic stated that the head gasket was blown and that the engine needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 17v209000 (engine and engine cooling) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was referred to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

My car was at idle at the store for less than 5 minutes and went into safe mode the mechanic said my active grill motor went out which caused my head gasket to blow without warning. I owe over $10000 on my car and now I have a $4000 shop bill. My car has never overheated not even at that time so my head gasket shouldn't be blown! please help!.

Took car in for coolant system recall may 8 th , after recall was done the coolant light came on several times and had to add coolant to the system. July 10th car overheated and shut down towed the car to Ford and they said they did not get all the air out the system and they calibrated the system and gave me the car back . Then July 20 th the car did same thing said it was over heating and car shut down . Had it towed back to Ford again this time they said they could not find anything wrong with the car had it for 7 days . I was told to drive the car and if system shut down again to call their tow company . Two days later the car was overheating not holding coolant and white smoke coming from exhaust. Ford towed it to there store again and 4 days later called me and said that the head gaskets was blown and recommended a motor put in for 2,200 . I believe my problems was from the recall and something went wrong. But Ford is saying they won't help me that the warranty is expired.
