Backup camera seldom works. It will often display an error once gear is shifted into reverse that the camera is unavailable. Other times it will glitch into a blue screen and then display the error message, or it I’ll work with no issue. This issue began about three weeks ago.

Rear passenger seat belt will not release lock/tension/broken. Will not allow rear occupants to buckle in. Safety issue. Seems to happen on most 2013+ Ford vehicles specifically trims like titanium with a 'inflatable belt" this issue should be recalled free of charge, it is a major safety issue not to be able to use a seatbelt. The best remedy would be inspect and replacement of broken components. Both occurred over 80k miles one being a truck (entirely different vehicle).
What malfunctioned- car did not give any notice that it was in engine failure for months other than under performing and upon taking it to the Ford dealership was never helped with the problem they took money for an oil change and works package but failed to make sure my car was safe. My car was a safety hazard bc it gave zero warning that it was loosing power and when the engine did fail I knew something had been wrong for almost a year and felt it went ignored by Ford and was taken advantage of. The product has been confirmed by multiple mechanics that what causes it is the hose cracks and thus the engine coolant wrecks a working engine. Ford knows it’s a problem but isn’t acknowledging it and makes more money off of parts.
The rear backup camera when in reverse shows a blank screen. When switched to park or drive, a message appears on the screen that says camera unavailable with a warning sign. This began early June 2025. It does not happen every time but it is more often than not. I have had this looked at by a Ford authorized dealer however the problem would not arise for them to see it in action. Yes I can use my mirrors but it is useless to have a safety tool on a vehicle that is defective.

Back up camera cuts in and out, sometimes works correctly, other times doesn't come on at all, other times comes on and in the middle of backing up shuts off, this has been going on for years and now I am seeing recalls by Ford of other models being recalled for back-up camera failures and I believe the recall should include 2016 Ford Fusions.
Recent problem with the backup camera on a 2014 Ford Fusion hybrid that intermittently shows the image in reverse- right is left and left is right. This is very dangerous when backing up . Ford is aware of the problem and has recalls on other models with the same problem but not ours.

The contact owned a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked at the contact's work parking lot, the vehicle caught on fire due to unknown reasons. A security guard discovered the fire, and called the fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. No police report was filed. The contact was at work during the incident, and it was not until he finished his shift that he discovered that his vehicle had caught on fire. The contact believed the fire started from the engine area, per witnesses. The vehicle was towed to a local towing yard. The contact notified his insurance company and deemed the vehicle totaled. The fire spread and damaged several vehicles parked nearby. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

While driving car it begins to shaking and unable to accelerate than cuts off, will sometimes restart and can drive but does the same thing again, during this process a wrench symbol and check engine light come on. Had spark plugs replaced the first time, still was doing it. Also the throttle body removed and cleaned continued, so replaced throttle completely it’s been 2 days no issue so far, but the car belongs to my daughter and it happened while she was driving car was purchased used a year ago, this is the first time we had this issue not sure if previous owners experienced same issues.

When parking I attempted to put the vehicle in reverse and a warning light came on "shift system failure", and the shifter cable locked in placed flashing causing the car to lock without the ability to move. Shift cable bushing is split causing dislodge from the fitting.
My car is at 47,000 miles and I started to hear a loud noise . Turns out Ford says it’s the flywheel, transmission pump, and torque converter per Ford technician who completed my inspection . No warning lights came on nor was there any alerts the Ford app. My 2020 Ford Fusion with approximately 48,000 miles experienced a cracked flexplate. This caused severe engine vibration, knocking sounds, and ultimately loss of power while driving. A cracked flexplate can lead to sudden engine stalling or failure to accelerate, especially at highway speeds or during intersections. This puts the driver and passengers at serious risk of a crash due to unexpected loss of power or control. This issue happened without warning and is a known problem in vehicles with the 2. 0l ecoboost engine and 6f35 transmission. Ford is aware of the issue (customer satisfaction program 22n12), but my VIN was not included, even though the symptoms and components match the defect. I am reporting this because it jeopardized my safety and others on the road, and I believe more vehicles should be covered under the existing csp or a recall.
When starting the car this morning, I noticed that the steering wheel was driving kind of stiff and the car was kind of losing control while I was accelerating down the street. A while later in the day, my wrench light came on and then turned off, but a couple of months later a warning light came on saying hillside assist not available, and then another warning light popped up after that one saying service advance trac. So I turned the car off and attempted to restart it and the lights stayed on.
The back up camera does absolutely nothing to notify the driver if it's getting too close to something or someone. It does not show the green, yellow or red lines as you're reversing and it does not even beep when approaching something too closely. It's just there. No purpose. There luckily had been no incidents so I put today's date as I fill in this form.
Unknown. Car will not start, dashboard says overheating, white smoke was coming out of muffler but stopped and etc.

While backing up, the rear came will show a black screen on the display or a message to contact the dealership. This isn't a constant issue, but comes whenever. I took it to the dealership a few years ago, but because it wasn't happening then, they said there was nothing they could do.
Unknown. Car will not start.
The rear camera change to black screen.
My Ford Fusion eco boost 2017 had a faulty shifter cable bushing. When the vehicle turned off, parked (not on a hill thankfully due to safety and rolling backwards) thinking it was in park, it would not start and not go into gear and the vehicle would not shift into gears and the wrench light came on shift malfunction light came open. This was inspected, verified, and repaired at the brandon Ford dealer when we had to get the car towed to them. All service for this car has been by brandon Ford. They installed new bushings and cap, adjusted cable and cleaned codes, and retested as ok after repair. When researched we noted a recall on Ford Fusions with this same problem for safety issues putting owners at risk due to confusion of car in what gear it was actually in despite thinking it was in park, may have been in reverse if car was on but if car off would not start. The recall campaign number for the Ford Fusion (2013-29`17) shifter cable bushing issue is 22s43/22v413. This recall was issued on June 2022 addressing the safety of preventing the transmission from shifting properly and causing a vehicle to roll unexpectedly when parked. I had the car repaired on 04/29/25 and paid in full on my discover card $890. 72. I submitted documentation to Ford but they denied reimbursement for my claim. Would you be so kind to advise me how to register my VIN for this recall and get Ford reimbursement? thank you kindly, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I need to check engine make/brand.

Pulled spark plug and put a boar scope in the cylinder and found a exhaust valve is missing a piece of the valve and the engine has ate the valve. Recommend a Ford long block” owner was quoted $8553. 37 for a used engine. Happened at 95,405 car is not drivable and unfixed. When owner asked what was the main cause the answers was “these cars just have bad engines”.

The trunk of the car randomly opens even when in motion sometimes enough to block my rear window and often when I can’t safely pull over right away. This keeps happening over and over. It is not just one incident on one day but multiple incidents over multiple days.
When I put my car in reverse, the backup camera freezes and stays on when driving down the road. Sometimes the backup camera turns blue and stays blue when driving down the road. This increases a chance of a crash risk. My 2019 Ford Fusion is not on the recall list and should be. Mountain view Ford in chattanooga, TN has confirmed my backup camera freezes and turns blue. This backup camera issue began approximately April 2025.
The engine is losing coolant on a daily basis; I keep gallons of it my car to keep it from running out. The safety risk is the vehicle hoses burst while driving in rush hour traffic and causing a worse delay and maybe injury to myself and passengers. I had the vehicle checked by an independent service station and they recommend a head gasket replacement or engine replacement, and the dealer just brushed me off with the head gasket may need replacing but it is not a recall item. It has not been inspected by any other agency. The check engine light is an on and off again problem -- and that's when the coolant is low the light comes on and when I refill it, it goes off. The vehicle coolant system is losing coolant every two days -- as of this date 4/28/2025, smoke comes from the oil filler cap area but none from the tailpipe. This is a frustrating situation and lawsuit waiting to happen situation that could easily be avoided -- they know it's a problem and want the consumer to reveal this frustrating and potential mega colossal problem to grow out of control.
My backup camera has started to glitch like the other 2015 Fords that are in recall. The screen will get green lines through it, go black, flip horizontal/vertical, flash on and off, it creates more of a distraction than assistance and makes it very hard to back in/out of tight spaces. I have not taken it to the dealership. Right before the other recall was released I called the dealership and told me I’d have to get a whole new camera installed and pay out of pocket. Has not been inspected no warnings or other symptoms prior.
Our 1. 5 ecoboost engine overheated on 3/20/25, my daughter was driving and the vehicle started shaking and it slowed way down, for a moment she feared for her life, she said it had a message and the check engine symbol was illuminated and the vehicle would not accelerate, when she got it was leaking coolant and white smoke, I took my obdii scanner, one code was p1299 cylinder over temp protection active, it now emits white smoke and overheats and looses fluid. Technical service bulletin 1. 5l ecoboost - low coolant, white exhaust smoke and/or illuminated mil - built on or before 10-Jun-2019 20- 2100 01 April 2020 this bulletin supersedes 19-2375. Reason for update: replace awareness/interim message model: Ford 2014-2019 Fusion engine: 1. 5l ecoboost 2017-2019 escape engine: 1. 5l ecoboost summary this article supersedes TSB 19-2375 to update the service procedure and parts list. Issue: some 2014-2019 Fusion vehicles built on or before 10-Jun-2019 and 2017-2019 escape vehicles built on or before 08-Apr-2019 equipped with a 1. 5l ecoboost engine may exhibit low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator light (mil) with only diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) p0300, p0301-p0304, p0316, p0217, p1285 and/or p1299 stored in powertrain control module (pcm). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To resolve the condition, follow the service procedure to replace the short block and head gasket. Action: follow the service procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • one of the following vehicles: - 2014-2019 Fusion built on or before 10-Jun-2019 - 2017-2019 escape built on or before 08-Apr-2019 • 1. 5l ecoboost engine • at least one of the following conditions: - low coolant level - white exhaust smoke - runs rough condition with or without an illuminated mil with only dtcs p0300, p0301- p0304, p0316, p0217, p1285 and/or p1299 stored in pcm.
The rear view mirror and side mirrors become dark after the sun sets and it becomes extremely hard and dangerous to judge vehicles behind you as you try to merge onto any road that has moving traffic.
Car will crank, but will not move into gear. Getting an service message "shift system fault". Some days it will move and other days (like today) it will not. I believe the 2018 Fusion (my car) was missed from the list of recalls for this service message. I contacted a Ford dealer near me. Either they don't have a transmission tech or it will take days before my car can be looked at.
Was driving and car started overheating. Looking at coolant levels, they were low. Refilled coolant and car started fine. Next day driving the vehicle, the engine shut down completely. Took the vehicle to parks Ford dealership in hendersonville nc to find the problem. I received a call from a service representative and he said there is a coolant intrusion into the cylinder or cylinders and the engine needs to be replaced. I asked to check for recalls and he stated none were found. I did my own research and found many vehicles with the 1. 5 liter ecoboost engine have had this issue and have had a recall in the past. I. Short, Ford has said they will not have my vehicle fixed due to the fact the 3 year warranty has expired and or 85,000 miles have been passed. I have financed this vehicle starting 03/22/2021. As of now my vehicle has almost 110,000 miles. Doing more research into this Ford has offered a fix for this. A new midi small block replacement and head gasket replacement. Doing more research into this, I have found the vehicle engine could possibly catch on fire if the coolant intrusion is not corrected. The Ford dealership quoted me $9,000 without tax to replace the engine. This just isn't doable. How can this not be a safety issue if the vehicle can and will shut off while driving and potentially catch on fire? Ford should replace the flawed engine design that they have been very well aware of. I am still making payments on this vehicle to own and I cannot risk driving it because it is used to transport my children and my wife, not with the safety factors involved. Help to have the manufacturer flawed design fixed to the updated design, that has no issues of the same, would help blue collard individuals a tremendous amount.
On 3/8 the car stopped moving while driving. No warning lights came on, no check engine lights, no fluid leaks etc. Ford spent 3 weeks investigating and said there was metal flakes in the transmission fluid. Towed it to a transmission shop whom immediately reported “large chunks of metal” in the transmission fluid. Advising the transmission was degrading from the inside. Agin no warning lights or check engine light are illuminated on the dash. Entire transmission will need to be replaced at 97,000 miles!.
Air bag light comes on sometimes not other car panic alarm goes off at random times backup camera sometimes work sometimes glitches.
The manufacturer is using the wrong material for the parts on my car. Currently, the right-side lower control bushing is bulging out because a steel bushing was used instead of the aluminum one specified on the website. This issue is causing my car to pull to the right, making steering difficult. I've also experienced the same problem on the left side in the past. I request a recall to fix this and ensure the safety of all drivers on the road.
I reported this issue back on July 1, 2022. My car was getting stuck in park and when I would get it into gear (reverse), once I put it in drive it automatically switched back to park. The gear shift bushing had broken on my car and I had to have it repaired. As of today, the bushing continues to get stuck in park and I have to turn my car off and back on, press the brake multiple times in order to get it in gear, rather reverse or drive. It continuously gets stuck. I know there was a recall on the gear shifts from 2012-2016 Fusion models. Something needs to be done about this for the 2017 model. I am afraid that once again I will be stranded with my child because my car wont go into gear and will remain in park.
My rear backup camera has been malfunctioning for several months now. When it decides to work at all, it flips the image from left to right and vice versa. Other times the backup camera doesn’t even work. And sometimes it has yellowish lines going through the images which distorts other cars behind me even more. Ford needs to fix this at no cost to me. There’s a recall on their other backup cameras in other Ford models. Not sure why the 2015 Ford Fusion wasn’t included in this recall because it’s doing the same thing - flipping the images, which makes it confusing when I’m backing up my car.
