Exterior Lighting Problems of Ford Fusion - part 1

I left my car at Ford to do the recalls, they just called me telling me they won’t fix the brake light on because in florida it doesn’t cover the repair, something about the humidity here. It doesn’t make sense for me, they were trying to charge me around 400 bucks to fix it. They will give me my car back without fixing the problem. My car is at matthews-currie Ford in venice.

Known issue with 2013 models through 2019, sunroon leaks under heavy rain even if the drains are cleaned and cleared. I spoke with Ford and they said it is not their issue since there is no recall. This has been posted under multiple site that there are hundreds of people effected by this.

The back up camera has been showing a black screen while the vehicle is in reverse. This has been happening with my vehicle for a few months. Safety of others put at risk because this happens while vehicle s in motion have not taken vehicle to dealership to have it inspected. My vehicle falls outside of scope of recall currently published no warning messages displayed.

Steering wheel clock spring is not working. Controls wipers, turn signals, speed control, voice commands, lane aware and allows to toggle thru control settings do not work. Ford doesn’t have part available or an eta. This part covers vehicles from 2013 thru 2024 so currently vehicles coming down assembly line are using. My car is unusable like this. Aftermarket part is also unavailable. Please help.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side low beam headlight failed to illuminate as needed. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger's side low beam headlight assembly wiring harness was burnt, and there was light smoke coming from the wiring harness. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the low beam headlight assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 53,000.

My brakes are faulty sometimes I’m not able to stop like I should. I also have transmission problems. When I put the car into reverse or drive I hear a loud boom. It is getting worse by the day. I see that the transmission is on a recall as well.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 25 mph, the hill assist warning light illuminated, prompting the driver to return to the residence. After a visual inspection, the contact became aware that the rear brake lights failed to turn off and remained illuminated continuously even without the brake pedal being depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to safety recall 22s02, supplement #1. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 155,000.

On Saturday 6/15/2024 I noticed when I opened my driver side door, the dash light & the light on my touch screen began flickering. I didn't think much about it at the time, but the next day, 6/16/2024 as myself & my wife were traveling on the highway, I tried to turn on my cruise control but it would not come on. I then tried to adjust my stereo volume on the steering wheel & it wasn't working either. Well, the next day I checked the fuses & they were fine, so that's when I went online & found out that the clock spring in the steering wheel could most likely be the problem. Well I decided to dig a little deeper into the matter & I found out that some 2016 Ford trucks had been recalled because of faulty clock springs which also could cause the airbag not to deploy when needed. I was just told by an employee from a local Ford dealership that the 2016 Ford Fusion was not a part of that recall, which I believe should have been a part of that recall, because I'm pretty sure that the same clock springs that were used in those 2016 trucks, were used in the 2016 Ford Fusions. I would like to ask that you would please look into this mater, because this is a serious mater, & I think Ford needs to fix this problem. They should be responsible for all of their vehicles with these bad clock springs & not just those trucks only. Thank you for your time & all you do to keep us safe on the road. God bless you all!.

I currently believe that the break pedal bumper has failed. My brake tail lights are permanently on, even when the car is off & unoccupied. My cruise control has been disabled and throttle control has been sporadic. The accelerator pedal does not respond properly when driving, it will either give no response or a sudden surge of power (usually up to 5000 rpm), cause unsafe driving conditions and the inability to maintain accurate control of the speed of the vehicle. This may be because the vehicle thinks the brake is constantly being pressed. The vehicle is also a push button start and I can start it without pressing the brake, which leads me to believe it thinks the brake is always on. I've read there was a recall previously for brake bumpers, but it did not cover my location. I believe that recall needs to be expanded. I have found a yellowed (from age, was probably clear) chunk of a rubber washer/gasket on my floor board under the brake pedal. I have my vehicle scheduled to be looked at by a Ford dealer on Tuesday the 18th. There are no warning lights, messages, or anything else that indicates that the vehicle believes there is an issue. I can instruct the Ford dealership to hold onto the part, if it is the issue and if the NHTSA wants it, assuming I get a response prior to my appointment.

The rear brake and 3rd taillights turn on and won't go off. This presents a danger to other drivers, as they are not able to tell if I am braking or not. The lights won't turn off even after the car is off.

In March of 2024 I discovered that the passenger side front turn signal was not working. I assumed it was the bulb so I replaced it but the turn signal still failed to work. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealer where the vehicle was purchased new. Upon inspection, it was determined that a control module was the cause of the issue. I was informed that Ford no longer made the control module and the dealer would reach out to a vendor that sells used control modules for my vehicle. After several modules were obtained from a third party vendor, none of the modules would work for my vehicle. It was explained to me by the service advisor at the dealership that none of the modules were a match for my vehicle but with no clear explanation why. The lack of a functioning turn signal is not only a safety violation but it is also a traffic violation. I have contacted Ford motor corporation but they are unable or unwilling to address my issue. This vehicle is over ten years old but has less than 50,000 miles on the odometer. It is in excellent condition and has no other mechanical issues with the exception of the non functioning turn signal.

One night my car was completely off. The key wasn’t in the ignition and I woke up in the middle of the night and my back brick lights were on. And the next day I couldn’t start my car. I’m not sure if it drained my battery and I had to buy a new battery.

Low beam headlights are so dim I can only see maybe 5' in front of me.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the low-beam headlamps failed to illuminate. The contact activated the high beams to see the roadway ahead. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and auto zone auto parts, where the headlamp bulbs were replaced numerous times; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 12v553000 (exterior lighting); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

I discovered my drivers rear brake light bulb melted in their socket. The socket themselves are burnt black and the drivers side tail light case has been hot enough to melt. A quick search on the internet turns up a lot more chatter about this same issue. Even scarier is the fact that this happening with zero warning. No blown fuse, no codes, nothing to indicate your frying stuff in the back at all. The dealership denies hearing anything , Ford denies hearing anything, even though it's happening all over the country and I found at least five other complaints listed with the national highway traffic safety administratiion. I took car in for oil change and discovered this but want $250 for repair and no guarantee it won't happen again. I'm a senior with limited income and it's a 2008 Ford Fusion se help need recall!.

My transmission is faulty my car is a 2019 Ford Fusion and it has all the same problems as earlier models with recalls that are equipped with the same components as mine my it keeps stalling when I come to a stop which I see numerous complaints of the same thing it there were no warning lights on at the time it occurred I've done research on my own through forums and there are thousands of complaints of the same thing happing to there's there's no way that can be just are luck there has to be something wrong with the way the car is built or made.

Although this vehicle is 10 years old it has only logged less than 17k miles (near new condition). A few months back it was noted that the backlighting on the console, steering wheel, interior door panels and overhead console were inoperative under non-daylight conditions. At night, it's driving blind from an instrumentation perspective. Controls cannot be located as they cannot be seen. This backlighting has a mind of its own. Upon entering the vehicle all the lighting in question lights up and then times out (?) activating outside lighting (headlights) when you expect and need the backlighting, it just isn't there. Disconnecting the battery for 12 hours (reboot) did nothing to solve the problem. Personally, I believe the slap-happy lighting engineers went way overboard with warning and flashing lights on this vehicle. The lighting in question is there, not just when needed. Due to this over-engineering I refuse to pay shop labor prices to troubleshoot or replace parts on a premium vehicle. As this car has become the "recall queen" I feel it was placed on the market well before its time and as a consumer I'm now the guinea pig in the field. Never another Ford. Note: uploaded file shows console section and backlighting is on. Ignition is off and if car is started the backlighting eventually turns off. Activating the headlights the console and all other backlighting remains dead.

This is a general concern, not limited to only my car. Daytime running lights do not turn on the tail lamps. People believe if they have the drl turned on, they’re safe, but they are difficult to see in rain/fog/tunnels etc. Drl should include tail lamps also, automatic headlamps only come on when it gets dark enough out. It’s surprising how many tail lamps come on half way through the turnpike tunnel. Auto lamps should simply come on when you turn on the key. That’s a frustration of mine. Thank you for listening.

The brake lights stay on even after the car has been turned off. There was no warning. The brake bushing? had to be replaced. This is a known problem of 2012 - 2015 models and I believe 2016 has the same issue.

All the exterior lights went out. None of them will come on.

Approximately 3 weeks ago my teenage driver called me at work to inform me that his display was "black" and he had no radio. When asked to provide more details, he said that the display screen in the care, which is a touchscreen that is divided into 4 sections (phone, navigation, climate, radio) was not functioning like intended. This screen also displays the backup view when in reverse. He also stated that there is no radio, his phone does not connect via bluetooth as it did previously to allow for hands-free driving. My son said the screen was functioning as intended when he parked his car for the night, but upon starting the next day it was black- no warning or other symptoms of this problem. We had the car evaluated at the Ford dealership and told it could be two things, but unsure which-tech said have to fix one first and if that doesn't work then the other. Apim failure is one of the two potential problems. My son is a teenage driver, the lack of bluetooth connectivity and the safety net of the backup display poses a risk for (1) driving distraction related to inability for hands-free driving (2) backup rearview display and additional alerts while car is in reverse malfunctioning increasing the likelihood of collision when in reverse. Ford has known issues with apims in various 2017 and newer makes/models.

Rear tail light side parking marker. All marker lights in working order is required to pass delaware state inspection. The led is hard wired within the housing unit and is not a replaceable bulb. I have to replace the housing assembly for 160. 00 plus tax for a simple light. Car is 10 years old. I don't believe Ford expected it to fail for the life of the car. Part 13404. The side marker light is not on the parts diagram. I can replace the part but was hoping Ford would cover the bill, but I admit, I am venting frustration.

Electrical system failure on multiple components. Upon start entertainment system (radio, nav, etc. ) is inoperable, a/c does not function, windows will not roll down. Has happened on multiple occasions.

My front right turn signal suddenly stopped working. It lights up but won't flash. Due to this problem I have had numerous near crashes because other cars cannot tell that I am signaling to turn or change lanes. It was only because I double check where surrounding cars are that I have been able to avoid a crash. I have taken it to the dealers service center but they were not able to fix it in the three and a half days they had it. I finally had to go get it because I needed a vehicle to go to work and could not wait any longer. There were no signs that there was a problem until I noticed it wasn't flashing. The inside display and sound of the turn signal are all normal and I am unsure of when the problem first happened because the inside display has no abnormalities.

Since vehicle was purchased in 2014, it has had electrical issue with starting. It has needed a jumpstart at least 50 times and was brought back to the dealer multiple times with no solve. The dealer advised we just need to drive it more to charge the battery. A few weeks ago, the car would not start or shift out of park. A jumpstart was attempted and but the car still would not start. When trying to start the car, the warning chimes were beeping rapidly and the following message cycled on the display: see manual, steering assist fault service required, service advancetrac, low engine oil pressure, engine coolant overtemperature, park brake malfunction service now. The car was towed to a Ford dealer. The dealer advised the battery, starter and alternator were fine. They said the car was fine and it then drove without issue for a couple weeks. A few weeks later while driving, it completely shut off and would not start in a turn lane. The headlights turned off and would not come on. The hazard lights were turned on but only worked on the mirrors, not the front or rear hazard lights. This was extremely dangerous as it was dark out and we were almost hit from behind. The police were called and blocked the vehicle for safety. The tow truck driver was unable to jumpstart the vehicle or get it out of park with a jumpstart power applied but all the displays were working normal so it was not an issue with the battery. The same warning messages that were displayed weeks earlier were displayed again after the car turned off: see manual, steering assist fault service required, service advancetrac, low engine oil pressure, engine coolant overtemperature, park brake malfunction service now. The vehicle was towed to the same Ford dealer that said there were no problems a few weeks ago and it is acting the same as the day the the car stopped working in the middle of the intersection. This could happen on a highway or anywhere and shut the car down without warning.

Hello, my name is mya owens. Recently I bought a Ford fuision 2010. I am pretty familiar with cars so I understand the commonly routine of taking care of a car. It's been only 30 days. The first first incident that happened on the parkway my car shut completely down. I got it to work back up but then I got a mechanic to do a tune up. Everything went smooth until I drove about 3,000 miles into the car & it told to me check the engine oil and the brakes. By the time I went to start my car up the lighting slowly faded away. Eventually the car shut off completely and almost rolled down the hill. I immediately put the car into park and put on the emergency brakes. Now the car completely shut down. I replaced the spark plugs and everything. I've been reading about recalls on the model of the Ford Fusion 2010. I would like to see if I could either get it fixed or possibly a letter to get a new or similar version from the car models dealership. I've also invested so much money into fixing this car and it just seems to be falling apart. The damage was all of a sudden. There was also an oil leak.

While in motion the abs light, traction on/off, and hill assist is not available is lit up. Also, the speedometer is sporadic. Haven't had any work done recently so that isn't the cause.

My trunk keeps popping open. It does not matter if my car is in motion or parked. The doors unlock/lock when trunk pops open and the lights flash (as if walking out to your car and hitting unlock on key fob). It seems to happen more often in direct sunlight but does happen during the night as well.

Headlights do not work. I have replaced the low beams bulbs 3 times since purchasing my car over three years ago and each time the lights only work for a brief period of time them seem to short out unexpectedly, for no reason whatsoever. The high beams have been replaced multiple times as well. I purchased the fluorescent bulbs for better night vision. The lights were bright for a short period them dimmed and are only as bright as they should be if they were on low beam. This is some sort of an electrical issue or something to do with a manufacturer’s defect. Since I purchased my vehicle almost 4 years ago, there has been an ongoing issue with the transmission or alternator. The car “jumps out of gear” when putting the vehicle into park or when shifting the vehicle into drive from park. There is also a constant loud “humming/vibration” sound that clicks on and off continuously once the car is initially crunk up. The passenger door is coming off due to the loosening of bolts I assume but I’m not certain. Nothing has happened to cause this issue. The power outlets in the vehicle get extremely hot at times and cause phone cords to heat up. This has caused my phone to be destroyed! the rear view camera is now blurry with lines going through it. This is only happening when the car is put into reverse and rear view camera is in use. The bluetooth and media in the vehicle gets stuck on “sync line in” & at times will not change to any other setting. This seems to be an electronic issue as well. There have been many recalls on my vehicle and I have taken it to the Ford dealership for repair each time however, none of these issue have been resolved . I am a single mother who work’s full time and is a full time student. This is my only form of transportation. I should not have to worry rather or not my car is safe for my children and I.

My vehicle was parked in front of my house (thank god) and when I started it, 3 alarms came on and I was not able to move the steering wheel. Had this happened while I was driving, I would most certainly been in an accident. The issue is the entire electronic steering system failed. Whole component needs to be replaced. Exactly one year to the day after the last electrical failure.

After going to several service places with my brakes they are yet giving issues having to pump them to stop. Power steering system assist shut down while driving and door latches won't open from the inside. The local Ford place said I need to contact Ford motor company because there are recalls for my issues but not for my VIN number and I need to get them added under my VIN so they can fix it with no charge.

Driving home from the dealer I was on a well lit road. I live in a rural area and even with the high beams on it was like there was no light. I didn't see the deer standing on the side of the road until I was almost next to it, the high beams were on. When I don't have the high beams on the lights are very dim and I'm lucky if I can see 20 feet ahead. I'm bring the vehicle back to the dealer.

I took my Fusion in for the airbag recall. The airbag was replaced and now the dash is slightly raised up and looks like the airbag is going to blow out of it anytime. Now the airbag light in the instrument panel is turning on and off randomly. I took my car back to the dealership who replaced the airbag and they say this is a common issue and has nothing to do with what they did. So now I do not know if my car is safe or not to be driving.

2015 Ford Fusion se. The passenger side daytime running light bulb was out around 1 November, 2019. The Ford dealer replaced it on 11/14/2019 and offered to replace the driver side light at the same time, because it is expensive to take the front bumper off to do the job ($210 labor plus $35 for the light and $29 for add'l shop supplies. ). He indicated that the driver side bulb would probably burn out soon. I denied the change; I thought it was a ripoff. Turns out he was right but why does the light burn out at all. The passenger side bulb was out less than 5 years after I bought it. Seems they could design a light that would last forever, no? I realize these are the daytime running lights and they are on whenever the car is on if you use the right setting, but it seems they designed in obsolescence,.
