Randomly 'service advance trac', 'pre-collision assist not available', lane assist not available', power assist steering not available', hill assist not available', warning lights appear. When they do I completely lose power steering. Which is extremely dangerous while driving. Most the time I can turn off and restart the car and it goes away. However, now it has become more frequent and has started losing complete power of the car turning off while driving. I almost died on the interstate. Ford dealerships only recommendation was a new circuit board that was like $5k, more than the car is worth. They said it was something common with the Ford Fusions, thats why they were quit being made. I researched and it is a common issue, but no recalls have been made???!!???.

Lost my power steering, while I was parked at mcdonalds, hill assist light and advance trac lights are on. I can not drive it with no power steering. The car was in part, when I put it in reverse, both lights came on and no power steering put it back in part, turn the engine off, I tried thid three or four times, finally I had power steering agian, drove 16 miles to home and it happened again. So down it just sits there, I'm not going to drive it again until it;s fixed. I can't afford to fix it if it's going to cost thousands of dollars, there should be a recall, too many people having the same thing go wrong.

Customer was driving to work on ice and lost power steering assist . Sounds related to the 15s18 campain. Dealer claims no recall. This is a deadly or life theatening defect and should be applied to all 2011-2013 Ford Fusions and other vehicles involved. Let's not lose a life to a known defect.

2012 Ford Fusion lost traction control and now lost all power steering. Dash states power steering assist fault. Usually if I turn car off then back on it will give power steering back. Today I did that about ten times and it still wouldn't give steering back. My car was stationary but driven home without power steering very carefully.
Was driving on the highway at 65 mph and lights popped up on dash lose of steering stop car safely in high traffic and basically lost all power steering and ability to control the car almost crashed into a semi. With pregnant girl in the passenger seat.

Driving down the road and lost all power steering, power steering assist failure light come on. Was able to get to side of the road and come to a stop before I wrecked.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist fault warning message would appear on the instrument panel as the contact would simultaneously lose power steering. The contact stated that initially he would be able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle would resume normal operation; recently, the warning message would constantly illuminate while driving at various speeds. The contact had yet to take the vehicle to be inspected or diagnosed. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Jo.
I was driving the car when all of a sudden I lost power steering. Then the service steering now light came on. This seems to be an issue with this make and model of vehicle. I did not have any warning or anything. It made steering the vehicle almost impossible and I had my children in the car with me. This really should be on the recall list especially since its all electric steering.
I had a recal done for my power steering in 2015 by a Ford dealership. I was told the repairs were honored for life. However, last Friday 09/04/20 I was driving making a left hand turn and my dashboard alerted me to know I had lost power steering and to contact my dealer. My vehicle was in motion and had I not stopped immediately I could have been in an accident and potentially lost my life. Once stopped the icon for power steering failure remained. I lost control of my vehicle and immediately slammed on my brakes to avoid getting t boned in a busy intersection. I had a family friend tow my car to my home. I called Ford corporate they stated they will not honor the recall repair. I asked for a supervisor to call. No supervisor has called. I can not drve my vehicle because without power steering it is all but impossible to safely steer and turn.
I have a 2012 Ford Fusion I was driving down the highway an my service powering steering light comes on then within seconds I lost power steering thankfully I wasn't going around a curve that could have ended bad.
I was driving on a city street and lost power steering rendering me unable to control my vehicle while I was turning. I was driving at 40 mph. Warning light flashed after my steering wheel became hard to turn. It was raining out which made the situation even more dangerous and I had my family in the vehicle. I believe the power steering module since it's electric was at cause. Luckily I was able to brake and pull into a less busier street.
Iissue 1) put the back seat down to get into trunk and it wont go back up due to the seat belts issue. Because I dont really use the back seat, I havent bothered to get it fixed and pay for it out of my pocket. 2) driving over 55 mph, car lost power steering. I see others have had same issues with these 2 components of the 2013 Fusion, yet no recall. This makes no sense to me.
Lose of power steering and my dashboard keeps flashing to check it! my dashboard also keeps saying that my advance trac isnt right or unstable! plus my air conditioning unit blows hot air on hot days! my air bag was supposed to been fixed on 02/11/2020 by a Ford dealership and it is back to it's old self.
I lost all power steering around a turn and almost wrecked my car!!!!!!! now I'm getting abs lights and service power steering, service advancetrac codes which were not on prior to the loss of steering! I see recalls on this issue but my VIN is not in this recall? how is that even possible?.
Lost power steering assist while driving in a parking lot. The message center displayed "power steering system fault". Instantaneous loss of power steering while driving is extremely dangerous. I was lucky enough to be traveling at a low speed in a parking lot. I seriously hope Ford will issue a recall and repair our vehicles.
This is a common issue in 2010 Fusions as you can find lots of similar experiences. While heading towards an exit on the highway going 70mph, the steering suddenly lost all power steering. Two warnings appeared on the display saying "service advancetrac" and "power steer assist failure. " everything returns to normal after restarting the car and it happens once again at random.
Power steering assist fault came on and I lost power steering. Fortunately I was in my driveway and not on the interstate.
Driving down the road and the service power steering came on and lost power steering in the car as well as the service traction control light came on.
My 2010 Ford Fusion sel has lost all power steering due to a failure in the electronic rack and pinion. I started my vehicle and received two warnings on the information screen in the cluster: power steering assist fault, and service advancetrac. I've done research and have been to multiple Ford dealerships, and have been told there is nothing they can do other than charge me over two thousand dollars to have my vehicle fixed. Yet, the 2011 and 2012 model years had a full recall of the part at no cost. This is unacceptable on Ford's behalf and extremely unsafe due to the fact that with the power steering being out, the stability control is also disabled. Yes, my vehicle is drive-able but it is definitely not safe and extremely difficult to maneuver at slower speeds. It's an accident and lawsuit waiting to happen, and I do not want to be the unfortunate one to go through such a thing. This needs to be recalled as soon as possible, before any lives are lost or preventable accidents occur.
My service advancetrac message came up on my display while I was driving. Then as I was leaving ehere I was I started my car and the service power steering now came up on my display, it also had a tire pressure sensor fault message. I lost all power steering and it won't reset. I have unhooked the battery terminals, taken it and had all the codes reset. The dash was clear for about 5 minutes but I still had no power steering. There was a recall for 2011 and 2012 for the exact same issues im having.
I drove my car to the next town over running errands and my Fusion makes an alarm similar to a low fuel but more urgent sounding. The cluster reads servivlce power steering now and service advance trac. I lost power steering/ assistance and with advance trac off I know I have no stability control or traction control. Luckily I was driving because I can say with confidence my wife could not have turned the car off the road to safety with it being front wheel drive. We arrived at out destination and my arms were burning from fighting it into a tight parking spot. I left it off for a while and tried again and the service power steering now warning was back. I built up the strength to make the drive back home. Entering the road at 10 mph the service advance trac now warning goes off. We made it home safely and I don't want my 3 year old daughter to get back in it until it's repaired. I called Ford and they said there was no recall and I did my research before talking to them and I said "how is this not a safety recall, I've read on forums this is a $2000 repair" and he agreed like he knew exactly what my issue was.
While driving the vehicle lost power steering and nearly caused me to wreck, somehow I was able to get the car off the road safely. The warning message power steering assist fault appeared on the dash and seems to be a common problem with 2010 Fusions and other models. After turning the car off twice the message reset and power steering came back however I'm scared to drive the car not knowing if this issue will pop up when I'm on the highway at a high speed. Luckily I didn't injure or kill myself or others this time.
Started car and while backing power assist fault warning indicator came on and lost power steering. Restarted car an power steering was ok. Now I don't want to drive not knowing when it will lockup again. The 2010 Fusions should have been included in the recall.
Why driving my car I lost my power steering and almost got in bad accident. Took to dealer and cost me $200 just diagnose to find out going cost $2200 to fix. The power steering assembly. Look up on recalls to find out 2011-2012 Ford Fusions has recall for that. But find out that my 2011 Ford Fusion not covered by VIN number look up. This car very unsafe to drive any more with out fixing and if I get fixed is it going happen again because investigating the problem the exhaust on cataleptic converter is 3 inches from electric steering assembly and makes it get to hot fry's the module for steering.
Lost of power steering, power steering steering assist, advance traction warning lights are on and staying on.
Power steering failure warning came on and lost power steering. Car was stationary when the warning came on.
While driving home from work I lost all power steering components of my car. Power steering assist fault, hillside assist fault, & service required came up on dash. 72k this happened at. I had the original recall done on the steering column bolts, but now, what Ford should have prevented in the recall has happened.
2011 Ford Fusions were recalled in 2015 for sudden loss of power steering. My 2011 Ford Fusion was not included in the recall, but should have been because last winter I suddenly lost power steering while in motion, turning in a parking lot. Fortunately I wasn't going fast at the time, and I was able to safely stop. The auto shop used "TSB 11-11-03" that was published on Nov 3, 2011, which indicates the Ford motor company knew about high friction issues in some control arms that can cause the power steering to fail. The auto shop followed the service procedure specified in TSB 11-11-03 and replaced both control arms, which fixed the problem. Since the known service procedure fixed the known problem with the power steering, I presume my 2011 Ford Fusion should have been included in the recall from 2015, and perhaps other excluded 2011 Ford Fusions could be in jeopardy of their power steering suddenly failing, considering mine didn't fail until November of 2019.
Power assist warning, loses power steering.
While driving 35 mph the vehicle lost power steering and displayed power steering assist fault warning message. Vehicle became very hard to maneuver. Power steering has not returned to vehicle making it extremely hard to drive and practically unsafe.
While driving down the highway suddenly the vehicle lost all power steering resulting in me to pull over.
While in motion less than 40 mph, the vehicle lost power steering and became stiff and very hard to turn the steering wheel in either direction. Decided to park the vehicle in a parking lot and have the vehicle towed to the dealership. This has been recalled previously in which the dealership replaced the part with a remanufactured part. However, in the first recall/repair the vehicle did not have any cause of concern other than to address the national recall. Now, the vehicle is not drivable and the dealership does not want to replace the defected part. Instead they want to charge $1,915 for a faulty remanufactured part that has gone out and could have caused severe harm and damage to persons in and around the vehicle. . Read more...
