(1) on 12/15/21, the power steering assist fault light on my 2012 Ford Fusion went on. (2) I was unable to schedule a repair until 1/3/22, because of the two-week christmas and new year's holidays. (3) on 1/3/22, I took the car to my dealer, germaine Ford in columbus, ohio, for repair. (4) the dealer informed me that the steering column had failed, and I need to replace it at a cost of approx. $3,000. (5) I asked about warranty and recall. The dealer told me Ford's extended warranty for steering column failure had expired two weeks earlier, on 12/17/21. The warranty for steering column failure on my car lasted from 12/17/11 - 12/17/21. (6) the steering failure occurred while my car was still under warranty (12/15/21), but two weeks prior to my taking the car to the dealer for repair--the earliest appointment I could get. (7) I called Ford motors customer service to ask for a warranty extension or financial consideration, given that: (a) the steering failure occurred during the two-week christmas/new year holiday period, while my warranty still was in effect; (b) my steering warranty had expired just two weeks prior to my dealer visit; (c) my repair cost was approx. $3,000; and (d) steering failures on 2012 Ford Fusions are well documented and have resulted in injuries and deaths. (8) Ford denied my request for a further extension on my steering warranty, in spite of the fact that steering failures on 2012 Ford Fusions are well documented and have resulted in injuries and deaths. (9) I asked Ford customer service what the appeal process is. I was told my only option was to report the steering column failure and warranty lapse to NHTSA. (10) given that my car was under warranty when the power steering assist light went on & given that steering failures on 2012 Ford Fusions are well documented and have resulted in injuries and deaths, I feel Ford should extend my warranty and cover my $3,000 cost of repair. (11) any help NHTSA can provide is much appreciated.

Received a "service power steering now" along with "service advancetrac" error during the middle of a long drive. Luckily I had enough strength to get the vehicle back home, but as I attempted to move the car the next day, the steering column had locked completely. I have no way to turn this car. The same errors are showing up, along with "tire pressure sensor fault. " I was lucky to get this thing back semi-safely. If the steering had locked at 70 mph, I would have been seriously injured.

My 2013 Ford Fusion is experiencing power steering loss. I have experienced steering loss at start up, on the road driving, mid-turning, and when I hit a small bump or rocky surface. The messages that appear include power steering assist fault and service advancetrak. I was told this was a common occurrence among Fords with electrical power steering and was quoted $2000 to replace the entire steering column. After sending my vehicle in to a Ford dealership 8+ times, I finally gave up and requested for a refund. Research shows that Ford recalled a number of vehicles including the same name and model as my 2013 Ford Fusion, however my VIN was not included in the recall. I think Ford manufacturer needs to expand their recall regions to include all those who are experiencing this same issue. My vehicle is too young and does not have more than 105,000 miles to be experiencing this type of issue.

The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised that there was a recall on the steering. Loss of power steering, service power steering now, warning on dash. Code reads steering column angle sensor, failure occured while in motion, inner city traffic.
Dear sirs, my vehicle suddenly showed "power steering assist fault" while I driving on the street. And steering column locked. I immediately slow down and pullover the roadside. After this, steering column can be turned, but very hard and only within a narrow angle. Therefore I go online to check, and found out my Ford Fusion 2011 should be under "NHTSA safety recall no. 15v340000 - loss of electric power steering assist. (power steering control module (pscm) failed)" please check my VIN 3fahp0ha9br118102, it should be under "Ford's recall list". Thanks for your help and hope can get your reply soon!.

I was driving out of a gas station after filling my tires and as I was driving the power steering went out on the car and error messages came up on the dash. " service power steering now" then another one after that " advanctrac (forgot the rest). I took it to two car repair places and it says its a recall. I looked up the recall and it was exactly the same thing that was happening. I then called Ford main number and found out that my car was made in the same factory as the other cars being recalled but becasue mine was outside of the recall dates they can't do anything about it. My friend who works at a dealership ran a diagnostic scan and the alignment sensor in the steering column us running an error. I can't afford the cost of this fix. When what is happening is what's in the power steering recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. While making a left turn at approximately 5 mph, the steering column seized and could not be moved. The failure occurred without warning. The contact had to use excessive effort to drive home. Pearson Honda (14001 hull st rd, midlothian, va) was called, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to lack of communication from the dealer. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
Got the power steer system fault message for the first time a couple days ago, turned my car off then on and the message went away. Started my car yesterday and they message returned. Turned my car off then on again several times to no avail. This is my only car so I am forced to risk my whole life to get around. I don't understand what the hold up is on this recall. Ford knows their ids is flawed and have recalled 2011 and 2012 Fusions for the same problem. They need to fix their mistake before I get ran over or run someone else over. Not to mention I have a manual transmission. Help me lord. Idk what will break first, my wrists or the steering column.
While driving my 2010 Fusion on vacation last week, my epas suddenly stopped working and the car immediately became extremely difficult to steer. At the time this happened, a warning message displayed that said, service advancetrac, service power steering and a warning light came on. There were no indications of an issue prior to this. As far as I can tell, this has been a problem on many Fusions and has resulted in a recall of Fusions for other model years but not 2010 (so far??). It's frustrating that this appears to be a known issue for this vehicle, including 2010s, but the model year is not included in the recall. The local Ford dealership just told me the system needs to be replaced (this includes the steering column), and they estimated the cost to be $2200.
Takata airbag recall and steering bolt recall my car has been under recall since 2016, and I was just offered a rental vehicle from a Ford on June 27th, 2018 - until further notice - renewing every 30 days at only $30 per day, which is half the cost of a daily rental. Ford stated my car was unsafe to drive, and yet I have to pay out of my pocket to have a safe vehicle until they figure out parts? I cannot even trade my unsafe car in due to the outstanding repair severely decreasing the value of my car. My car only has 103,000 miles on it and I have already spent significant amounts of money on other repairs. This car has been a total nightmare! just recently I had to replace the entire front axle due to the cv boot rupturing & major rusting. My car has had several steering column issues, including loss of power steering on three occasions, resulting in repairs. Recently I read that cars manufactured in mexico have a bolt in the steering column that can come loose - resulting the detaching of the steering wheel. I have not yet received a letter pertaining to this issue - however my vehicle falls in the category described on their website.

Regarding manufacturer's recall number 18s08 (steering wheel separates from the steering column. I called the local Ford dealer in lynbrook, NY to have the safety repair and was informed on 3/21 that Ford had not sent the parts and that they were not expected for "months. " I then called Ford's national customer service line to complain about the safety issue. I was told a letter would be sent after April 30th about when the parts would be available. This is not a timely manner to correct a major life-threatening safety issue. This car is issued to me by my employer.

Got in my vehicle to drive it one day and my steering wheel was very loose. It wobbled on the column. Had to take it into a dealership. When they looked at it said the bolt was loose enough to unscrew with your hand.
I usually drive local roads (max speed 45). This morning, while driving at 65 mph on interstate 84, I felt vibration in the steering wheel. I thought it was the new tires I had purchased 2 weeks ago. When I got home, I noticed that the steering wheel wobbled on the steering column. I brought my car to the dealer and the tech tightened the bolt that attached the steering wheel to the column. $95. 39! this is the second time this has happened to this vehicle. The first time was approx. 2 years ago when one of the service techs tightened the same bolt. (mike fedorsin) he didn't charge me that time and there was no bill (still under bumper to bumper warranty).
While driving, the steering wheel started to loosen. It almost felt like it was going to come off. I was traveling on I-94 from milwaukee to the chicago area, so it was flat road, good conditions. I dropped my speed to 55 as I was afraid to go the posted 70 mph with the steering wheel as it was. When I got home I had it towed to the dealer and they said the bolt inside the steering column was loose. They fixed it.
The steering wheel has come loose from the steering column.
Noticed that steering wheel was loose while driving vehicle home from work for lunch at 12:00 on 10/27/17. Only wheel is loose- steering column is latched and stationary. Wheel has at leas 1/2" of give on all sides.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the service advance stabilitrak indicator illuminated while driving 30 mph. In addition, the contact experienced a loss of power steering. The contact stated that the steering column could be moved, but excessive effort had to be applied. The vehicle was operable after being manually restarted. The vehicle was towed to fox Ford (3560 28th st se, grand rapids, mi) where it was diagnosed that the steering gear was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
The steering wheel came loose. I was able to turn, tilt, rotate, etc on multiple axis (left and right as normal, diagonal, up and down, forward and backward) up to one inch before resistance was met. The motion occurred in the upper part of the steering column, only affecting the steering wheel. I was still able to turn the car, as I could feel the lower part of the steering column respond in the floor. The steering wheels increased movement occurred regardless of driving or stationary status. I have attached the invoice from the mechanic. It shows that the nut holding the steering wheel to the column, which is behind the airbag assembly, had a come loose.
I was driving down a city street and the steering column felt very loose. There was no accident or bump in the road, just an immediate loosening of the steering wheel. I was still able to drive and turn the vehicle so I took it to d patrick Ford in evansville, in. They told me that there was a recall on 3 bolts recall#15r01 which they replaced for free, but then charged me $848 to replace the steering column shaft as they said it was worn. I questioned the recall on the bolts being the cause of the steering column issue and they said no it had to have been from me using the steering wheel to get up out of the car. I do not ever recall using the steering wheel to get out of the car, it had 95,000 miles on it at the time and I was the second owner. The first owner put 18k miles on it and there was never a car accident.
1. Takata recall- air bag: air bag sensor or light goes blinking for 30 mins or more than it switches to the panel light and stays there lit up. . 2. Steering column-stiff and grinding noise: when it drives backward reverse it makes that noise and when on the road it begins to make loud noise, then the steering gets hard to steer. 3. Ac coolant does not blow cold air: does not get cold and blows out warm air only.
