1 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/22/2021

About less than a year, my power steering went out. The message read power steering assist fault, and the wheel would lock electronically. So I replaced the power steering pump. Fast forward to present day, service advanced trac and service power steering now is on the dashboard. Now I'm looking to tow my vehicle because it seems again to be something wrong with the power steering.

2 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/27/2020

Fuse continues to pop. The vehicle was driven to a grocery store and after the shopping the vehicle started up briefly then died. We changed the fuse at the parking lot but it popped the fuse again. We ended up having it towed. The mechanic believes it is a fuel pump issue or wiring to the fuel pump. We are on military orders in italy and have been unable to reach Ford to authorize repair since we do have a valid extended warranty. Italian Ford dealers will not work on american spec cars. We have a certified mechanic who has access to Ford but needs the authorization code in order to start repairs and recalls. We are getting the run around with Ford's customer service hotlines and no one seems to be willing to help. We cannot ship the vehicle back to the states with active recalls on it. The vehicle is completely broke down currently. We are upset on how Ford supports its military!.

3 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2016 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/17/2020

I was driving upon making a left hand turn in the city the steering wheel became very difficult to turn, the stability control light and traction lights all lit up on the dashboard, basically felt like the power steering gave out. I'm not sure the cause of this or how it can be resolved. I also noticed everytime I refuel the vehicle and start it up the rpms will drop as if the vehicle is going to shut off and becomes hesitant for a few mins while parked at the pump and then it idles back normal.

6 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/05/2019

My front driver side tire was flat after work. I drove it down the street to the gas station to use the air pump. On my way there, I started getting the service power steering now and a advantrac light came on as well. I still had some control so I pulled into the gas station and aired up the tire. However, the system never reset afterwards. At this point, I had no steering control whatsoever. I restarted it, disconnected the battery, checked fuses, etc. Nothing restored the steering to the car, and now the car is unsafe to drive.

8 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/05/2019

While driving on the interstate, the steering locked up , I put on my hazard lights and eased my way to the shoulder not causing an accident. It happened again as I was coming home I turned onto my street and before I could line the steering wheel back to it's proper position it locked up again. Knowing that it has an electronic pump I automatically checked the fuse. There was nothing wrong. I had it towed to have it put on a machine and I was told it was a faulty pump and I was not the first person they had talked to about this. So I'm making this contact because this is not some wearing out of a part over time, this is a part that 'needed to be recalled and/or should have been recalled before it becomes a very serious incident. I file this complaint not only for myself but for all the other vehicles out there that may have this same malfunction. Not only those with vehicles but the pedestrians young and old who are put in harms way. As a suggestion to the Ford motor company before their focus is just how many vehicles we can put out and in return the billions of dollars being made at the full subjection of innocent hard working people. It's not right and something needs to be done very soon. To this day I have to leave a vehicle parked that is being paid and insured which is not fair to me and I ask that I'm contacted soon to resolve this most serious matter.

9 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brakes had failed to function properly when applied. The brake pedal had gone to the floor several times causing the contact to have to apply force and pump the brake pedal each time the failure had happened. In addition, there was no warning indicator when the eps failed causing the steering wheel to have been extremely tight when attempting to turn the steering wheel in either direction. The vehicle was also serviced for a manufacturer extended warranty campaign for the throttle body, however the contact had noticed that the vehicle had been slow to pick up speed while the other two failures had progressed. The dealer worthington Ford, 2950 n bellflower blvd, long beach, CA 90815,1-(562) 420-3333 had been unable to provide a permanent remedy yet for the three failures the contact was experiencing. The contact was not included in NHTSA action number: ea17004 (steering) and pe13003 (engine). The manufacturer was notified of the failures, the contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if they may be able to provide a permanent fix for the dealers required repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

10 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/13/2017

When attempting to pull away from a gas pump at a filling station, my power steering abruptly quit working and a warning came up on my screen saying something about power steering assist. The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Fusion. It placed me in a very difficult and potentially dangerous situation since it was during rush hour at the station. This lack of power steering increased the chance of a vehicle crash of some kind. I purchased this vehicle new from a dealer in topeka, KS. At the time of the incident, the vehicle had less than 40,000 miles and is in excellent condition. I am a recently widowed 70 year old woman weighing less than 100 lbs and I cannot turn a vehicle without power steering. The vehicle required replacing the electric power steering gear assembly costing me $1,266. 33. This same issue was recalled for 2011 and 2012 Ford Fusions, but no recall for 2010. Please explain why a recall was not also done for 2010 Fusions since the issues were identical regarding shut down of power steering. I do not know how to send the invoice with this complaint, but can send it separately if possible.

11 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

My daughter's 2010 Ford Fusion power steering went out while she was driving it. She didn't crash the car but it made it hard to turn. He low tire indicator light came on and then all of a sudden the power steering just went out. We got the tire pressure back but now the power steering won't work. We had one mechanic look at the car but he says it's the steering rack and those cars are known for this issue. I've researched this and see there has been lots of complaints with the same issue and think Ford needs to issue a recall before someone gets hurt bad or killed. I also own a 2012 Ford Fusion and the fuel pump went out in it and I have seen that this is a issue with this year. The cost of that repair was $555 and the steering rack can range from $1200 to $1600 and if Ford doesn't do anything about either issue then I will not buy another Ford vehicle again.

12 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

As I was pulling into a gas station to go inside the advancetrac and sterring pump is low alert came on. I pulled into a parking spot and got out. When I came back out and started the card I was not able to turn my wheel. It was locked. I had tried to shut off engine so it can reset and unplug the battery and check the fuse. My steering wheel still did not moved. I had it towed to the Ford dealership and they did a diagnostic on it and it is the steering gear and lower control arms that are malfunctioning and they also said the control board might have to be replaced. I wish I had more time ahead warning than just 5 minutes before my car broke down. What would have happened if I was on the highway and could not turn my car.

13 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/22/2014

Shame on you Ford! hard working middle class family purchased a 2010 Ford Fusion for our son to use while he's in college. While driving the car on 1-95 the check engine light came on and also service power steering. The steering wheel locked and the car was impossible to drive luckily it was a week day so we were able to find a Ford dealership. Well they told us it was a evap pump $340, they reset the power steering sensor and thought they fixed it. Few days later the same thing happened again. Another mechanic told us it was uneven tire pressure that set the sensors off the car drove for an hour and the sensors went off again. There should be a recall too many people are having this problem. This is horrible Ford so many family's rely on your cars for the safety of their family! I will never buy Ford again! power steering warning message as the failure occurred again . Took the car to another Ford dealership and now I was told the front axle has to be replaced $2300. Money pit!! this should not be happening to a 2010 car with 48000 miles on it.

16 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/18/2014

The steering issue on the car happened only two weeks after I purchased the vehicle. Car became very difficult to steer, thought perhaps for some reason there was no fluid in it. Cam to learn that this car does not use a power steering pump, rather it has an electric motor that assists the steering. After doing some searches, I found out that several people have had this issue. Contacted the dealer and was told to bring it in to have it checked out, came to learn that the power steering rack had to be replaced to the cost of 1500. 00. . . I am beside myself as I just bought the car!!! this is a recall item, based on all the reports of people having this same issue, Ford needs to step up to the plate here and realize they have a problem and bad design to get these components replaced out on these cars before someone seriously gets injured. The car is almost impossible to steer when this goes out and if someone like an older person or younger inexperienced driver runs into this situation the problem is going to cause serious injury. . . The failure happens without any indications. Ford recall the part and fix these cars!!!.

19 Power Steering Pump problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/21/2013

Began having problems with this vehicle the the second month after purchase. The first incident was steering wheel locked and I could not control the direction of the car. I ended up on the left side of the road off the shoulder before I could stop it. It happened on several occasions. Car dies for no reason. I end up having it towed or restarted by charging battery. The battery always has a full charge. Also I have been shopping and get in the car to start it and it will not start. Door handles would not work from inside. Windows would not open. Had to force window down enough to open from the outside. Had front door handle assemble replaced had transfer case resealed horrible smell new tires 3x since it was purchased had rear drive shaft replaced fuel pump replaced had taken it to Ford just recently for what I deemed was computer problems, of course they could not find anything wrong. I was told by my mechanic the last time I had new tires put on the car that I would need new rims soon. The rims are eroding from the inside out. I have several invoices for work that was done and a few more I can't locate at this time. I would like to send them all to you. Purchase car 12/1/12.
