36 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/13/2012

My 2010 Fusion se v6 with the infamous 6f35 transmission is slipping, hard shifting, fluid is blacked and or burnt. My concern is that it also has just lurched forward for no reason. I feel it is a safety issue and should be recalled for a new transmission. Please force Ford to issue a recall on this model transmission. I know I am not the only one with this issue on this vehicle.

37 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/14/2011

I bought the car in April of 2011 and the transmission was slipping a little. I had a mechanic, which was a previous Ford mechanic, told me Ford had a recall on the transmission for that type of car. I then called the dealership to have them check the VIN# to see if my car has the recall. The dealership said there was no recall. But as I researched it, I found out that there were other vehicles of the same make and model as mine and experiencing the same problem. I do not understand why my vehicle doesn't have any defect even though there are many others like this.

40 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/10/2011

My transmission is slipping a lot. I will be accelerating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in neutral. I have read a lot of complaints from other Ford Fusion owners stating the same problem. This needs to be recalled. This is very unsafe. Driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all.

Failure Date: 07/14/2011

When pulling into traffic with my vehicle the transmission slips between second and third gear the car slows and hesitates allowing traffic to come up abruptly from behind. 43 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/12/2011

2010 Ford Fusion transmission slip. Had software up date done diden't fix it. Had valvabody replaced diden't fix it after the third attempt at a repair I wanted Ford to replace the complete transmission they would not. They rebuilt it, it was better but not like I thought it should be. Now it is making a noise again and the Ford tech can't hear it. 44 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/25/2011

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion that I bought in June 2009. Since day one I have had transmission problem. Transmission would slip going to second to third . Upon hard acceleration like merging onto a highway the transmission would slip and the rpms would go to redline. The car would not move. This was a very dangerous situation. Car was brought to dealer on 11/13/2009 and the dealer said it was a computer problem . They reprogrammed it. On 2/23/2010 car was brought back for same problemdealer replaced transmission. 6/2010 recieved a recall notice from Ford saying there was a computer problem with the transmission. Reprogrammed again. Went back to the dealer numerous times after new transmission was installed with the same problems as mentioned before. On 5/24/2011 dealer rebuilt the new transmission. On 5/25/2011 complained to dealer saying I have the same problem. 5/31/2011 car is back at dealer transmission will not shift. This car is extremely dangerous especially merging onto the highway.

45 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

Transmission still slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear after rebuild. This car is not safe.

46 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/26/2011

Transmission slip into neutral and revs past 4000rpm, 1-2 & 2-3, also severe hesitation when slow down then try to speed up again (I. E. Stop & go traffic). Has put me in unsafe situations requiring defensive driving to avoid an accident. Has been in for service 4+ times and each time only "calibration". Service dept is very helpful but hindered by Ford motor company's inability to solve defect. Also, was given print out of Ford advising service that the 2-3 hesitation is "is deemed normal and it meets design intent at this time". 100% unsafe to drive, especially with children in car as the gear slipping and or hesitation followed by suddenly engaging then speeding up puts the driver in unpredictable conditions. Has put me in numerous near accidents (specifically when merging or changing lanes and yielding to turn left). Most recent "fix" was 2/2/12 and transmission still slipping, hesitating, slamming into gear. Have filed with bbb auto line. Ford motor CO. Needs to seriously address this from safety standpoint. ## VIN passed ## Ford Fusion 2010 ##.

47 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2007 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/11/2011

I have an 07 Ford Fusion, I am the original owner and bought the car with zero miles in 06. Recently my transmission started slipping and I noticed that the rpm's go up so high then you feel like an impact which is when the car changes gears. I almost got rear-ended due to this problem. After doing some research online I have noticed that many Ford owners have the same problem. I have called Ford and they say my car is out of warrenty so their is nothing they could do. I also think this problem is causing my back to hurt I noticed that after this accurs with my car I get pain in my back like if it was whip lash.

48 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/23/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately between 15-30 mph, the contact stated that the transmission slipped in and out of gear continuously. In addition, the vehicle would jerk violently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Updated 01/11/2011.

49 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/24/2010

On oct 24, 2010 while driving approximately 75-80 mph (left lane) of a major freeway, tachometer revved to 4,000 rpm and stuck there. Vehicle rpm's would not go up or down and transmission appeared to be slipping in 6th gear. This incident occurred at 27,522 miles. Managed to get car to side of road, where rpm's returned to normal for idling condition. At this point, the little "wrench" light appeared on the dash. The car was shut off and restarted in an attempt to reset the code. All appeared well, and I proceeded to re-enter the freeway. At approximately 27,533 miles (11 miles later), the vehicle experienced the same thing. Please note that on June 14, 2010 the vehicle was taken to dealership and the "customer satisfaction program (program number 10b15) was performed on vehicle (mileage: 19,936 miles). As it appears that something is major wrong with this transmission, the vehicle was once again taken to the dealership (oct. 29, 2010: mileage: 27,760 miles) to have this issue re-evaluated. At this time, the dealership performed TSB 10-21-9. There was a noticeable difference in the shift quality of the vehicle. This same problem occurred again on Dec. 1, 2010 (mileage: 30,138 miles) while driving 70 mph; the transmission appeared to slip and rpm's revved up to 4,000 rpm. The vehicle has not been taken back to the dealership at this time as problem is not reproducible and is unpredictable. This is a potential safety hazard as transmission could fail at any time while traveling on the freeway.

50 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/28/2010

My 2010 Ford Fusion sel is in the shop for the 4th time due to transmission issues. The first time was based on my observation that something was wrong with the reverse gear. The dealer could find nothing. Then several weeks later we received a service bulletin that something needed to be reprogrammed to fix a reverse issue--surprise! 2nd visit to service. Since then, the transmission has had hard shifts from 2nd to 3rd (around 25 mph) and sometimes it feels like the gears are slipping. Was in shop for the 3rd time for 5 days but "they could not re-create the problem", car returned and the same problem has continued. Today, the car stopped accelerating while on the road, started to idle roughly and "shudder" and then the wrench light came on. Dealer claims it is a defective throttle body.

51 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

I purchased a Ford Fusion in March 2010. About 2 months after I received a recall notice stating the transmission needed some type of new valve and if it did not get it the clutch on my car could wear out. I immediately brought my car in and had the recall work done. Soon after I starting feeling the transmission "slip" between gears. This issue almost caused an accident on the highway. I brought my car back to the dealer after having the transmission light turn on while driving to work and experiencing slippage between gears again. I was told they would check it out and try to duplicate the issue. They had the car for 8 days and said they could not find anything wrong. Research on transmission problems with Ford Fusions proved this is a wide spread issue. After having my car for 2 days the transmission slipped again. I would appreciate any help I can get! 52 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Transmission failure and issue persists. Occasionally, when accelerating from a stop or a low speed, the transmission will slip and catch violently. The whole car surges and jerks forward causing the tires to chirp. If this were to happen on a day with inclement weather, the car could lose control and cause an accident. Ford rebuilt the transmission in summer of 2010 after finding burnt clutch plates. Ford has not repaired the original issue after taking the vehicle in 7 times. Also, every time the transmission jerks, burning transmission fluid is smelled inside the car through the ac vents. Ford claims it is leftover fluid from previous repairs, but after 6 months, the smell is still there.

53 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/22/2010

Thetransmission slips and jerks hard, really hard when changing gear. The car lose power while driving. Then it will kick back in hard. I will not buy another Ford!!! now I see why people buy foriegn.

55 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 07/15/2010

My wife's 2010 Ford Fusion sel has 14000 miles and the transmission began to slip. So much so, she feared for her life on the washington, DC suburban streets she drives. The car would not shift into low gear causing several "almost accidents" with other drivers almost rear-ending her in traffic. We took the car into koons sterling Ford in sterling, va on 16 February. We were told that it was an issue and that our car would be there for several days. They claimed that "Ford does not allow them to put in a new or rebuilt transmission" but that they were going to "tear the transmission down and replace bands and clutches" in my new car. I contacted Ford corporate who said they would be putting a rebuilt transmission in my car. That did not sound correct to me because they will have had it for most of two weeks - I conferred with the dealer who confirmed that they were rebuilding my transmission from scratch (bands and clutches). I called Ford back and they apologized for the misinformation they gave me. Ford is clueless as to what the problem is, much less how to fix it. I consider this as much of an issue as the Toyota acceleration problem. When a new car scares your wife, there is something wrong. This car was motor trend's "car of the year. . . ".

56 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/02/2010

Since the vehicle was new the transmission slips or jumps into gear. The engine also hesitates when the gas pedal is pushed and then starts to go. Visits to three Ford dealerships over the years and calls to Ford have been useless. Ford dealers will charge for reprogramming of computer which does not fix the problem, there is what Ford calls a recall but they will only fix the problem if the dash light comes on because their oil change people can't tell if there is a problem unless the light comes on. Ford has given me numerous "work tickets" but they are unwilling to fix the vehicle or don't know how. I know this is a common problem with Ford vehicles after sitting in dealership waiting rooms with others who have the same issues. If you own a Ford be careful when merging onto a highway because your vehicle may not go when you want it to.

57 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

The transmission slips and jerks while driving. I bought the car brand new and have been keeping up with maintenance religiously.

58 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/18/2010

Engine hesitates from a stop and bucks and jerks while driving. Hard pick-up. Rpm's up to max without vehicle acceleration. Feels like transmission slips into neutral. First visit, 5/18/2010 (8767 miles-bought new at 15 miles-10/10)/ presently, July, 2011, car with 22,000 is in for 4th return to dealer: 10/2010 car 1 year old, 14,000 miles, local oil repair shop notices both lower ball joints boots split, returned to dealer to resolve. Still hesitating and jerking and bucking, particularly during gear shifts. Second visit, 11/2010 returned for same driving problems. Third visit 6/30/11 service shop notices leak under carriage, returned to dealer. Service manager and I check under carriage, still obvious leak, he told me it wasn't a leak, we both had grease/oil/something on our hands. Refused to extend rental car coverage as car is "completely fixed", left with car, wrote on ticket, "leak still unresolved". Returned for forth visit 7/8/2011 admits leak "somewhere". Also, sealant around windshield melts and becomes tacky in hot weather (texas). Had dealer reseal last summer. Now, area is getting tacky again. Will this occur each summer and will seal hold during hard rain?.

59 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

2010 Ford Fusion transmission slipped on highway at 70 miles per hour. Rpm's increased, loss of speed - had to exit freeway across traffic at a very low speed - was afraid the car was going to stall. Ford roadside assistance towed vehicle to briarwood Ford in saline - waiting for repairs. Requested new transmission vs. Repair - Ford not complying. Vehicle had just been at suburban Ford in waterford for oil change and "recall" on transmission celluloid issue 6 days prior. Was told that it checked out fine.

60 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

2006 Ford Fusion - normal driving until I hit 59,500 miles. Transmission would slip after reaching approximately 40 mph and the emissions light would turn on. It was taken to the dealer on 5/14/10, and I was told it was the transmission which was covered under the extended warranty. After transmission was repaired, the car was put on diagnostics and now the power module needed to be replaced. The car was brought in on 5/14/2010 and it is 7/28/10 and I still have not received the car. They are waiting for the part which they say was received today. And because I brought my car in first, I get the part first. There is another 06 Fusion with the same issue, waiting for the same part. Was the part on back order for so long because Ford needed to replace so many of them? my guess is yes. I was told the part would be in July 15 and it was just received today (7/28/10).

61 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

I have been having transmission problems with my car but the service light has never come on! I have also had the key stuck in the ignition! these problems are getting ridiculous and to have Ford not cover them is just not acceptable! the transmission is slipping, not shifting when it is supposed to, downshifting hard. Anytime I try to accelerate to pass, or speed up it bangs and jerks really hard I've almost driven off the road a few times because of how hard it bangs. It just keeps getting worse, to the point my kids ask me "mom, what was that?" this is a complete hazard to drive on the road cause you never know if or when it is going to happen. Let alone having my kids in the car! I have been almost rear-ended a couple of times because the transmission slips and won't go into gear, all it does is rev the engine and if you take your foot off the gas to try and get the rpm's to go down, you really slow down and could cause an accident! is this what Ford needs?! is for someone to get into a bad accident and get seriously injured or die in order to get this recalled?! this is happening to sooo many Ford Fusions and it is all over the internet with the exact same problems!! something needs to be done about this! there is no reason why they can recall the transmissions on the newer Ford Fusions but not the very first year it was out!! they know something is going on with these transmission, they just don't want to spend the money to fix them all and I find that absolutely ridiculous!! my kids should not have to ride in a car that could be the cause of an accident all because Ford doesn't want to acknowledge there is a serious problem! it's not fair that I paid 20k for this car and when it has about 60k miles on it for the transmission to start to mess up and they want me to pay for it!! this is giving Ford a bad name!!! I will never recommend a Ford to anyone ever!!!.

62 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

Transmission slips and clunking noise. Car goes from 1st to 2nd gear and bucks. Almost got rear ended twice. Also transmission slips at high speeds.

63 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/17/2010

Transmission slips . Makes loud banging noise. First occurred with 750 miles on car. Car taken in for service, was told "module" was replaced, not so. They have thus far refused to provide documentation as to what they did. Same thing happened again 4 days later. Again took in for service, this time I was told "computer" was replace, once again not so. He have so far refused to provide documentation as to what was done. Same thing again again about 1 week later. 1035 miles. Car now at dealer for repairs, there now for 7 days ??.

64 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

Transmission slips and shifts hard in low gears. Ford has replaced several transmission components but the problem still persists. I fear I may crash into the rear of another car when this occurs. Recently a new problem has developed at high speeds where the transmission does not shift and runs at 4500 rpm for 20-30 seconds. Ford says nothing is wrong despite me sending a video of the console when this happens.

65 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

This is the 4 cylinder version of the 2010 Fusion. Since the car was only a few months old, the transmission has been slipping in low gear. As the mileage has gone up it has occurred more often but mainly in low gears. The problem has been that it does not set off any service lights so they had not been able to find anything to fix. After driving the car for about a year, it finally happened at high speed and turned on the service light. It was bad enough that I had to pull off the road. By this time, the transmission was damaged and they had to rebuild many of the parts. Ford knew this was occurring and had a bulletin all about it. This shows that prior to the rebuild, Ford already knew the transmission has had issues. Prior to the rebuild, the transmission had been through multiple tests, a reprogramming of the transmission, and other changes to the transmission from their technical service bulletins. I did open a case with Ford customer service. They admitted to me that the transmission has had issues in other cars and they are working on how to resolve them. Soon after I was told that, I was assigned to a different customer service representative who denied this fact. After a few months more, I got a call from Ford stating that they have no idea how to fix the problem so they are just closing the case with no resolution. I asked for a replacement transmission and they have said no. If you look in the forums for the 2010 Ford Fusion 4 cylinder, you will see how common the issue is. On top of all this, my gas mileage has dropped since the rebuild of the transmission.

66 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

I purchased this car new in 2009. With in a few months I had problems with the transmission. Putting the car into drive it would slam in the gear, not all the time but multiple times each month. The transmission slips while driving and will not shift properly, again randomly. Dealer can never duplicate the problem. I will put the last time this happened below as I do not recall the date the first time it happened.

67 Transmission Gear Slipping problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 03/06/2010

Transmission slips and loud bumping noise. Car goes from 1st to 2nd gear and jerks. Transmission slips between 60-70mph. I was almost t-boned!!!!.
