1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 02/15/2021

I noticed when the car was on the engine made a clunking sound at startup, this was not very unusual as the hybrid has made different noises at startup, and dealerships have assumed this was "normal". After a couple of weeks, a loud noise began, sounding as if I was dragging something when the vehicle was being driven. We took the car to the dealership where any and all repairs/recalls have been performed after a couple of days the service advisor said they felt that it was the bearings inside the transmission and it would be better to get rid of the car than repair it. This is a well-documented known issue that Ford is aware of. In April of 2020, the electrical/ a/c was not working correctly and the faceplate was replaced costing $780. This vehicle has had 7 known recalls, 3 of which had to do with transmission/powertrain, three out of the 4 doors had failed dates were Aug 2014, Feb 2015 & April 2015 the dealership refused to fix the 4th door stating it was not a recall (I would like to note when one of the doors latched failed my son was in the passenger seat and fell halfway out of the vehicle, while the vehicle was turning-his seat belt saved him) in June of 2015 NHTSA sent a recall, 4 door latch issues were replaced in may 2016. The transmission issue is another example of known problems that should be repaired by Ford motor company.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 01/27/2021

The affected vehicle is a 2015 Ford Fusion energi with 80,350 miles. VIN: 3fa6p0su1fr I purchased the vehicle from keller Ford in hanford California on 11jan2021, at 79,902 miles. On my way to work while on the highway, symptoms started with a high pitch noise, followed by, a burning smell, motor over temp warning, and finally a complete loss of power and a "pull over safely" warning. I had my car towed to the dealership the following morning to be worked on, where they found the transmission assembly to be the affected issue. The transmission had been replaced sometime last year prior to my ownership, which was undisclosed to me at the time of purchase, so this is now the seccond time this car has had an issue with the ecvt assembly. (part number hm5z-7000-arm). The original repair was a complete transmission replacement, but this time, Ford is looking at having the dealership rebuild the transmission. I have not been able to find many other issues with this transmission, aside for two tsbs. 20-2219 and 19-2391. The hybrid electrical system, which includes the ecvt, is warranted by Ford up to 8 years or 100,000 miles.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 11/29/2020

On November 29th 2020 I was driving on the 40 freeway westbound passing newberry springs I was going 70 miles per hour when I looked at my rearview mirror and noticed smoke so I was pulling over I heard a noise pop and my idle went past 8 before it went into gear I opened the hood and there was transmission fluid everywhere thinking that maybe a hose broke come to find out I had no reverse and no gears I took it to a transmission shop which cost me a fortune to tow my car on the other side of 15 freeway southbound Ford installed the plastic part inside the transmission which melted with the heat of the engine and I had to replace transmission and replacing the plastic part with a metal piece so that will not happen again I almost lost control of my car due to the popping sound and no control of my car I need to know if I complain to Ford motor company to get reimbursed for the this faulty part inside my transmission I lost wages and compensation stress without a vehicle for a month thank you I would like to get a correspondence as soon as possible.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 10/26/2020

The vehicle was in motion on the highway when there was a clunk from the powertrain and the engine light and "hazard do not drive" light came on. I pulled over and had the vehicle towed. There had been a odd, sort of hard to hear whining noise when depressing the accelerator coming from some part of the powertrain for around 20,000 miles or so. I didn't think a whole lot about it since there were no warning indicators or engine lights on and besides the whining noise the vehicle ran normal. I had the vehicle taken to a Ford dealership for a repair estimate and was told I needed to have the transmission replaced with a brand new one at the cost of almost what the vehicle's resale value was. I later had it taken to a transmission repair specialist where they would remove the transmission then repair the internal components in the transmission at a lesser cost than replacing it with a brand new one. I was told the "transfer gear bearing" failed and had to be replaced a long with other "fail points" known to fail in this particular model transmission.

16 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Engine or transmission knock. Steering knock from turning wheels all the way to the left and right. When in park, reverse, or neutral the knock behind the firewall is not heard. When it is in drive and stopped at a light or with the electronic ebrake on while the car is in drive there is a knock behind the firewall around the transmission area (location is close to the lower front of the center console area; where it is predominantly heard). It is not heard until you are in the car with the doors closed (no music on just the odd knock when stopped while in drive or in drive with the ebrake on). I had the engine checked for noise; mechanics at opelika Ford al stated it may be my fuel rail and fuel filter which may be causing cabling behind the firewall to rattle. If that is the case I should hear the hard knock while in reverse or park. They stated they tied both down including the cables to see if the noise subsided (took them ten minutes to do this which is quiet fast to access the fuel rail and filter when the area is tight to access in order to tie cables down). I also had the transmission checked; they stated nothing is wrong with transmission. I got it checked because of the knock and the transmission jerked hard into second and third gear. Also started to idle hard (this is around 21000 miles). They may have re-flashed the transmission but no mechanic came and spoke to me about it. I also asked for the transmission software to be updated. Not sure if they did that either. The car still idles a bit rough from time to time. The issue is still on going and I am in search of a "Ford certified mechanic" to actually show me what is wrong so it can be covered by warranty. Ford hq stated they do not keep track of information done on the cars it is local to the dealerships which is stupid. So how are their recalls done if they aren't required to keep track of problems?.

17 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Ford Fusion

18 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

Started to accelerate after being stopped at a stop light when the car made a loud noise, shuddered, and then lost all power and would not accelerate no matter how hard the gas was pressed causing me to be stuck in the middle of the intersection. A wrench light indicating a transmission failure was indicated on the dash. I was able to limp along at <5 mph to the side of the road. Turning the car off and then restarting cleared the error code on the dash and I was able to drive the remaining 0. 5 miles to work. Calling Ford they indicated there was nothing they could do because the error code was cleared.

19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 12/14/2011

Lost parking function on the transmission. Parking function is missing causing the vehicle to move after I park the car. Didn't realize until after I parked my car. Was walking towards the building that I noticed that the car was rolling back and had to run back, unlock the car and then push the brake. After investigating realized that the "p" function was missing. Did hear a a huge clunking noise when I tried to park in the first place. This is a safety issue and action needs to be taken to address this issue and make Ford provide an explanation for the 2. 5 l 6f35 transmission. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a bad transmission and the parking pawl broken inside the transmission. It was necessary to use parking brake to keep the car steady during parking.

20 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/16/2011

Just starting off from a traffic light the car started to stall. The car was towed to montrose Ford where they determined a part in the transmission failed. The part was ordered and replaced a few days later. On the 16th of September while driving the brakes failed. The car was taken to ganley Ford on the 19th of sept. They initially determined it was a transmission problem, exactly the same problem that was repaired in August. On the 21st of sept. The maintenance people drove the car with a computer connected to analyze what was happening but found nothing wrong. Now they say the problem is hydraulic related but will need to keep the car for at least 30 days to solve the problem. At this time they have no idea what is really wrong. Inside the car is an intermittent noise. It can only be heard when just starting out or at very slow speeds. Ganley Ford has no idea where this noise is coming from.

23 Transmission Noise problem of the 2006 Ford Fusion

Failure Date: 08/04/2010

Purchased 2006 Ford Fusion sel 6 cyl. , with roughly 48k on it and currently have 62k on it now, in/around October of 2009, and about 3 months ago starting having transmission problems. Upon accelerating between 25-40, the transmission jumps in and out of gear, often making a loud banging noise and taking away all acceleration. In order for it to get back into gear, you have to completely let of the gas and it will eventually go back into gear. This allows for minimal accelerator at best when trying to speed up. This failure occurs randomly everytime I drive the vehicle. If not fixed, the transmission in my car will eventually go bad. I took it in to advanced automotive in ann arbor to have it fixed. They told me, after doing extensive research due to no codes showing up on the computer, that on the Ford bulletin it was going to need a new valve body, transmission flush, and reprogramming. This is going to cost roughly $2200. The valve body, from Ford, was $1400.
